First time visiting this location. Restaurant switched to takeout-only a full 30 minutes before closing. Bartender mute and unhelpful. Men's room was like Baghdad, or CBGB's. Hand soap dispenser broken but the cover is gone so you can dunk your fingers in to scoop it out if you choose to wash your hands. Hopefully the staff do. I get it... punk rock, or whatever, but you really can't charge that kind of money for such a trashy experience. Food and beer were good but I will stick to the one in Mesa. read more

Live this place! I have tried several different pasties, and all have been great. The one in Tempe has a kind of ghetto bougie atmosphere which is awesome!! read more

The food was quite good. The server was friendly and efficient. The place has an old fashioned pub vibe. I would definitely eat there again. read more

Excellent food, huge selection, and very friendly staff. I've been to two locations in Tempe and both were great I went solo once and with friends the other time- great environment in both instances. read more

The food here is spot on every time my partner and I come here. I used to live in the nearby condos, and even now, a 20 minute drive away I still visit this haunt of ours. The remodel is perfect, and really highlights the history, food quality, and the personality of the modernization of England. Atmosphere is 10/10 and so is the aroma of everything freshly baked in-house. The service is always welcoming, personable, accurate, and efficient. There are many Cornish Pasty stores in the East Valley that I'm aware of, but this specific one is my favorite. Thank you again, Cornish Pasty (Hardy/University, Tempe, AZ) for a good time and good food, always. read more

Personally, I think they are overpriced and overrated. The service wasn't very good, but they are open late so...

Cornish Pasty has a menu that you can't go wrong with. Extensive list of pasty's from the traditional to unique, all of them good. In addition, they also have one of the better libation lists and patios to enjoy them on. Personally I go for the Oggie and beer or Bloody Mary. This place is Bomb.com and a chill spot if you want to have a great time off Mill Ave. read more

A quick tip from another reviewer that I found helpful: PASTY rhymes with BLASTY. If you say "PASTE-EE", that's something else completely. VEGAN REVIEW: Wandering into Cornish Pasty from the bright AZ sun is a shock for the senses. I was momentarily blinded, because of how dark and dimly lit the restaurant was. After taking a minute for my eyes to adjust, I saw a couple empty tables and two waitstaff. I did not know this was a seat yourself kind of deal so my brother and I just stood at the doorway and waited for instruction. After about 5 minutes or so, a waitress told us to seat ourselves. We came around 2pm, so many of the vegan pasties had been sold out and I was left with the choice between the vindaloo and the greek flavored ones. Upon the waitress' recommendation, I went with the vindaloo. My brother and I also ordered the Oven-baked Chips to share. The Vindaloo Pasty was spicy and filling, but probably not something I would order again. The vindaloo filling did not offer much excitement in the flavor department, and eating THAT much vindaloo filling was kind of monotonous. I really wish I came earlier so I could have more vegan options to chose from but my mistake is your benefit! The pastry part of the pasty was delicious! It was crunchy and had a wonderful pastry flavor that is hard to describe. If they sold a pasty full of the pastry, I would buy that in a heartbeat! When comparing my pasty to my brother's, I could tell they didn't glaze mine, which is a comforting to see because they probably used an egg wash. The oven-baked chips were 10/10.They were crunchy, crispy, and satisfying. You can't go wrong with fresh baked fries/chips! Overall, I would visit again (but earlier) to try more vegan pasties. read more

I have a monthly get together with High School buddies. We have a meal while we catch up. This month we met at Cornish Pasty. The Cornish Pasty restaurant has five vegan menu items and one vegan appetizer called Oven Baked Chips(fries). The chips were great. When I ordered they were out of three of the five vegan pasty menu items. They only had the Vegan Pot Pie and Vegan Guinness Stew pastys. I ordered a Guinness Stew to eat there and two Pot Pie pastys to go. I've had one or two Guinness Stout Ales in my life and they were tolerable. When the pasty arrived it was cooked well, with a golden crust. It was not greasy and it looked very good. However that's as far as goodness went because it was very Guinnessy and I didn't really care for the taste. I did finish it, so it wasn't terrible, just something I would not order again. Next day, my good wife and I ate the Pot Pie pastys. They were delicious! Golden and well made. I heated them in the oven. Just perfect. The ambience of Cornish Pasty is dark wood and dim lighting. It's a great place to kick back and enjoy a warm golden gem called a pasty; which is a most comforting pastry pie, and a cold beverage. I'll be back to see if they've stocked up on the other vegan pastys I was not able to try. Cya there sometime! read more

I order the Mexican and the crust was nice and perfectly crispy the cheese was stringy and it tasted sooo gooood!! I've been here before the Covid pandemic and today it did not disappoint. Food was still excellent and also my Jungle mojito was refreshing and sweet and strong. Definitely a perfect cocktail. Our server was very attentive, he always checked on us. Absolutely great service. I Will continue to come here again and again :) read more

Cornish is an Arizona staple for a reason. This place got me through college, and now it's gets me through my nine to five. Haha. No other place I'd rather go for date night or having a beer with some friends. All of their pasties are to die for but don't hesitate to get the Tandoori wings they really are underrated. Reminds me of my time in London! Such a cozy intimate pub vibe inside the restaurant. Really good options for meat and non meat eaters. Highly recommend! read more

Don't judge this place from the outside! When you roll up in the parking lot it kinda looks like you're going to enter a dingy dive bar which don't get me wrong I love dive bars but not for dinner. Luckily, this is not the case! Inside there is nice sectioned off booths pretty wallpaper and small chandeliers lining the ceiling. It definitely gave me a UK pub vibe. The food is pretty good. My friends all got various pasties with meat and LOVED them. I got the mini spinach guys and it was a perfect portion for me (the regular size would have been too much as I wasn't starving) and they were fine but I would have liked a little more salt or seasoning. My cocktail was phenomenal! The only thing we all thought could be improved were the garlic chips (fries for us American folk). For us garlic gorls, they needed to add a lot more garlic! I would recommend this place for date night or hanging with your mates! read more

Cornish Pasty - The Oggie (The Traditional Pasty) - British Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

I had gone to Tempe to visit for Family weekend at ASU. My kid was still doing classes and needed a place to have lunch and found Cornish Pasty. Walking in, it was a bit dark. It had an old feel to it the way it was decorated which I came to find was part of the character. The menu had multiple foods from the UK, but I was settled in getting a Pasty. The menu actually gives you the story behind the Pasty as well which I thought was pretty neat. There are different ones to choose from as well. Service was nicely placed and each person had a segment which made it to where not one person was stressed going from section to section. Made it to where is was quick and efficient. Not rushed, just quick. Everything was great and would go back again next visit out. read more

Food is always great, if it's in stock. More items than not are consistently unavailable for both food and beer.

I have been to the one downtown Phoenix and the one in Flagstaff Az, both are great. Good comfort food and great beer. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing up in Flag and more upbeat and busy in downtown which you kind of expect. Love them both and will keep going when the mood strikes. read more

Upon entry I entered the rear door and saw the chefs making fresh pasty stuffing this made my heart smile. This was my inaugural meal with Cornish Pasty and it was so fulfilling. I tried the parliament sauce (looking forward to trying wings on a future visit). I'll be back soon! read more

Great food! The first picture is the Meatball and the second picture is The Royal with Cheese. The pasty was was buttery and flaky but not like a croissant, it was hard enough to hold if needed. The flavor for both was GREAT, not too salty but tons of flavor. Outdoor seating and heating lamps, hipster style, dark ambiance and kept up with Covid regulations. read more

Terrible service! We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came. Our server brought waters and dumped the whole tray on the table and all over us. He didn't even say he was sorry. Came back and did a half ass job wiping the table. He left and never came back. The people sitting next to us had a dog sitting in their booth. It was barking at everyone. WTF? We left! read more

I could go on forever about this place and my recommendation should be trusted over at least 98% of reviews and at minimum equal to the rest as I've been coming here since there was just the one tiny location in Tempe and it had the bar and one strip of tiny tables. Bar included sat maybe 30 ppl? Lol It was such a dope little spot tho. We devoted our entire Jr year to trying every pasty and every beer on the menu (there has to be 35+ pasty's and 100+ beers with the rotation of local beers they do) and it was one heck of a time. Had many a night of crushing the Bangers & Mash while getting a bit sauced tossing back a few Firestone DBA steins lol It's expanding and got commercialized for sure but good and beer choices will forever be on point and as much as I would like to watch an NFL game or college basketball game here sometimes their commitment to not having any TVs has definitely helped keep the vibe through the growth and commercialization (which honestly, I fully support because 1. It was a bit frustrating sometimes when you'd go with more than 3 ppl and couldn't find seating and 2. More people need to experience and the founded absolutely deserve to $$$ they make from it now) which has been awesome to see because way too many places lose what made them so damn cool when they expand. For the Cornish Pasty Noobs : What is a Pasty?? Great F'n question - I will over simply it because honestly hard to describe and you just need to go find out for yourself. I describe it as having an entire meal [with that good old Irish style food] crammed up inside of the best Calzone looking thing you've ever had. Tip from a regular for the Amateurs - unless the $$ changes recently with JB's economy, recession, inflation, and ever increasing food prices...for $6 you can get one to go and cook it in the oven at your crib to enjoy on the couch watching a game of your choice. They'll give you specific cooking directions so I will save that for the experts (Employees) so make sure to ask. Outside of that...just enjoy, great people, cool vibe, awesome beer selection, and even better food read more

I tried their other spot in town and was hooked, so I just had to come back. Scotch egg was on point and the mustard gave it an overall tang that was very satisfying. The spicy chicken asiago pasty was filling, but the flavors were pretty straightforward. Pires with sour cream and salsa, it came to life a little more. Certainly good, but not the star of the pack. Regardless, this place will be a regular anytime I'm in town. read more

Great food, helpful service, but challenging space. Tip: The entrance to the main dining is super difficult to find. If you park in the lot in front of CheBa Hut, walk past the first door that says Cornish Pasty Company and go through the second one. They have a back entrance also, but it is virtually impossible for me to describe how to get in. When you step in, you see the kitchen from both doors and might freak out because you'd think that you walked into the kitchen, but you are in the right place. When you walk in further, you will see the chairs. It is self-seating. Find a booth, table or sit at the bar. Your server will come to you. Watch out for the banister when you sit in the upper level. The banister is not really for support but a part of the decor. It was not secure and popped up when I leaned on it. The food was consistently good like the Cornish Pasty Company we tried in Las Vegas. The broccoli and cauliflower cheese bake was to die for. Slightly more al dente than the bake we had in Vegas, but it was still good. We loved scraping and eating the crusty cheese. I enjoyed the Guiness Stew filled with a rich, robust, boozy filling (steak, mushroom, onion and carrots). My friend enjoyed her Cottage Pie (ground beef filling). We had the Shepherd's Pie (ground lamb filling) in Vegas. The pastry was beautifully golden brown. We had no room for dessert. Watch out! The food is served piping hot here as well. Lucky Tempe, you have a Cornish Pasty Company in your neighborhood. I am super jealous. read more

Great hot pockets and beer! I don't know what pasties are but the best way to describe them is gourmet hot pockets or calzone. The menu offers many different kinds of pasties - steak, pork, lamb, Italian, meatball, Mexican, veggies, etc for about $10. They also have soups, salads and sides. This place was already busy around 5pm on a weeknight. The place was big on the inside and very dark. Service was friendly and fast. There's happy hour daily between 3p-6p where you can save $1 off draft beer, wine and liquor. Four Peaks - $6 for 20oz local beer. Light and refreshing. Vindaloo Lamb $11 - Tasty and slightly spicy. Oggie $9.25 - Delicious steaks and potatoes! I like the side of gravy that came with it. This place is pretty awesome. Honestly, I had no idea what a Cornish pasty was coming into this place and I was somewhat reluctant to enter until I was convinced to give it a try. I mean, a pasty is something like a calzone but with a flaky crust similar to a pot pie in texture. You then choose from their several selections of fillings and after not too long this wonderful breaded masterpiece arrives at your table. Pair the breaded deliciousness with a pretty good beer selection and a pseudo hipster vibe to get yourself a real unique winner for lunch/dinner. Legit- Unique and delicious The flavoring was near perfection Fairly prompt Good beer menu Friendly staff Inexpensive Lots of parking Nice decor inside Meh- Not the best location Not much curb appeal read more

The salmon pasty is my favorite, but they are all great. Also very good if you get one to cook (warm) up later. Great hipster atmosphere.

Super laid back spot for lunch or dinner with friends. The food is terrific and I appreciate the wide selection of pasties (and beverages). The hibiscus tea is really good, and I've liked almost every type of pasty I'd tried. Plus they have vegetarian options so it's super versatile. read more

We stopped here for an afternoon drink before checking into hotel. We stayed for 3 hours. Lots of drinks on the menu and lots of beers on tap. Kelle man was the bartender at the time and was great to talk to. Stacey doesn't drink real beer and he recommended a good golden ale for her to try. She didn't like it and he recommended a Pilsner. She loved it. We ended up having some of their English wings which were really good. Slightly sweet and just a little heat to them. Very good. And then we had a meat and cheese pasty, recommended by Kellan. Think pot pie. It was really good. We ended up coming back later after walking around downtown the next day and stopped for some water and tea. Everybody was friendly and nobody cared that we just got tea and waters. Super friendly. read more
