Bones N Shells wasn't as good as my last visit there 2 years ago. The Host Richard had basically no personality and was very dry and unwelcoming. Even the kitchen guy was bringing food out to our table and helping which I thought was fantastic. Simple review - everything aweful. I honestly don't know where to start. Staff doesn't care, ambiance terrible, food way over priced. I've been going to the Stables for so many years and always hit it up when I'm home. Lately though, it's just for drinks and apps. The food has gone a bit downhill. The dining room gets loud and crowded. I prefer the bar area or the patio if I'm home during the summer. The cheesey crab dip is a favorite. I also enjoy the steamed bottom crawlers too, clams and crab legs! They have a monthly menu with daily specials which I prefer over regular menu items. One of their signatures is the Diamond steak. I tried my husbands once and really wasn't a huge fan but I know people really do like it. It is a marinated strip steak that's grilled, but it's very thin and kind of chewy. The flavor isn't that bad though. The beer is cheap and bar tenders are nice. They have decent juke box and a pool table or two in the back. They have bands on the weekends. Went into this place to pick up take out tonight. I was surprised because the guy at the door was wearing a mask on his chin. Then as I was paying I casually asked the waitresses about wearing masks (they weren't) and they went ballistic on me instantly. My question was very friendly and casual. Their response was "WHY DID YOU EVEN COME IN HERE?!?!?!?" ("Um, to pick up food?") then they continued to scream at me and talk about medical conditions and if I don't like it I can leave, etc. Definitely won't be spending any more money there. And the food? The ribs were alright but the sides were ass. Dry cornbread. Tasteless mash potatoes. Inedible baked beans. read more

Food is great but response to COVID-19 is appalling. Only a couple patrons wore a mask. There is a sign on the door that says if you don't have on a mask, we'll assume you have a health problem. We were in york for a hockey tournament and the woman at the front desk at our hotel recommended the corner stables for a few of us parents for lunch. It was wonderful. Burgers were great and crab cakes were awesome. No filler...just crab. After the game, we brought the whole team and all of the parents back for dinner. Ribs were excellent. Not as good as it used to be , a few years ago this was the place for ribs and crab cakes. The crab cakes are still excellent, the ribs are hit and miss and the weekend special are usually good. If your going for the Sunday Prime Rib special, get there early or it will be gone, most appetizers and the soups are made in house and very good. Burgers are good but don't order well done, it ain't bad but it use to be better. Right as me and my wife were showed to our tables the waitress asked for our IDs, and immediately said she could not serve us because I have 4 dups on my ID. First, we were not getting alcohol, there should be no reason to look at our IDs. That has never happened to us she was just extremely rude. WOW! What arrogance! I recently emailed a legitimate complaint to Corner Stable Restaurant at 2575 South Queen Street, York,PA, about a very disappointing meal there a few weeks ago. Apparently, they have no longer have a valid email address so I printed and mailed it via USPS. The letter was opened, apparently read by the owner, and simply returned marked RTS (Return to sender)...no explanation, no apology, no acknowledgement of any kind. Meal was terrible It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review , the meal we had on 2/29/2020 was barely edible . The wife and I took our son and daughter in law out to eat on the past experiences ( many years ago ) we had with the ribs here . We all ordered full rack rib combos except my wife , she ordered broasted chicken . Everything we ordered was overcooked to the point of almost being burnt and the ribs had almost no barbecue sauce on them . The steamed shrimp and crab cake ( also dry overcooked ) had a taste/aftertaste of being stored too long, it's the only way to describe it . The 2 fried shrimp that came with mine were fried to the point of turning black . My wife's broasted chicken was also overcooked and dry she said even the baked potato was overcooked . For $111 before the tip I'm chalking this up to things change and I'll never be back . My advice ....find another restaurant . read more

What can I say about this place? This place has been a second home for me the past decade. First off, there are 2 separate sides here. There is a nonsmoking restaurant side and a bar side where smoking is allowed. The bar side has outdoor seating as well for when the weather is nice. For entertainment on the bar side, there are ten televisions of various sizes, a juke box, 2 megatouch machines, and 2 pool tables(free on Thursdays). It is a great bar for watching sports, provided a competent bar tender is working and actually puts sports on. If you know what channel something you want to watch is on, just ask nicely and they'll typically put it on one of the tv's. Occasionally they also have bands come in. The good food at reasonable prices, beer specials, and friendly atmosphere keep me coming back. There is a variety of food here although the menu isn't too overwhelming. There are typically daily bar specials on your usual bar fare. One of my favorites is on Tuesdays they have a full rack of ribs with choice of veggie for under $13. Sundays they have half price burgers. There are also various other weekday and weekend special entrees which gives a variety in addition to the menu. Some of my favorites include the prime rib, chef salad(all salads huge), wings, blue bacon burger, pit turkey sandwich, and the ribs. They claim to have the best ribs in York, which could be true, but I am a a huge southern bbq fan which is hard to compete with. The beer selection is reasonable. Smithwicks and Blue Moon are some of the more recent additions to the drafts, although they do have your typical domestics as well. Every month they have a beer of the month special for $1.75 a bottle. This usually alternates between miller high life, keystone light, and natural light, although I've seen some others there from time to time. They also have a Thursday pitcher special for a few hours but not many other drink specials unless you want one of their monthly mixed drink specials. Regardless, the drink prices are still relatively inexpensive. The patrons are friendly and there are generally alot of regulars you will get to know quickly if you come in more than once. All in all a great place to meet friends for a few drinks and some dinner! read more

I've been to this restaurant a two times now. They have great food that's the only reason I came back. The one bartender with curly hair is so rude I've had her both times. And has no costumer service skills. Friends and I were looking for seats at the bar reading a menu and she screamed at us to go sit the " f " down and told us no to f*&@$ stand there when we were just reading the menu. And the first time I went there she ignored us for 20 mins and we only ended up getting served because she approach the guy we were with. We have gone to The Corner Stable for 20+ years specifically for the ribs (only place I would eat ribs). Today was the 1st we had been there since before the pandemic. The ribs we had today definitely were not the high quality lean ribs that they served for 20+ years. In addition to that, the dining room is no longer open. We had to eat in the very noisy bar. I read the reviews and decided to have a family function at the Corner Stables outside of York (south) during all the college football games this past Saturday. Despite being very full, the staff was tremendously attentive. And for the most part - the food is very good - and THE CRAB CAKES AND RIBS may actually be THE BEST ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY!!! (coming from a seasoned foodie - THAT'S ALOT!). Their menu was impressive, but not without dissapointments. The Maryland Crab Soup was incredibly SAD - the tomato broth too thin and tasteless, the vegetables from a campbell's soup can - BUT THE CRAB IN THE SOUP WAS PLENTIFUL AND DELICIOUS - you just have to pick it out. BE WARY OF THE STEAKS???!! Seems unbelievable that every steak at our table was close to inedible. If you get one of the combos - please be aware that the strip steak you get will be as thin as shoe leather and taste similar. The "special" Filet is NOT A FILET MIGNON - AND YET - $20.00????? The cut is a "special" cut from a Philadelphia butcher and while it resembles a "filet" - it is from the "butt" and it is as tough as a darn butt!!! Others ordered a steak and it was so incredibly marginal. STEER CLEAR (haha!). Also - the 1/2 pound hamburger??? - certainly not 1/2 pound and very marginal. What a shame that the ribs are so delicious and the beef just isn't. The Wings that they say are "hot" - are INCREDIBLY HOT - VESUVIOUS VOLCANIC HOT!!!! which made them inedible for most of our table - and we ordered 2 orders. Even besides being hot, they just weren't good tasting - they were JUST HOT!! SUPER DELICIOUS: ONION LOAF (could've eaten two more), CRAB LEGS (moist and juicy and cooked to delicate perfection); SHRIMP - EXCELLENT SHRIMP - all kinds and every kind from steamed to sauteed and fried to the shrimp that accompanies the specials; ANYTHING WITH CRAB IN IT!!! AND THE RIBS - INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE. The most impressive part of the menu were the weekly specials. We went on a Saturday - and they don't have any special pricing on Saturday, which is understandable. But the GREAT DEALS during the week looked fabulous!! Despite the few mediocre things we picked - We did have a great, great dinner, nice people dining there, bar attached to watch the football game if you need to smoke, big screen TV in the dining room (really big!!!) - to watch the big game (that made our night)!! Relaxed atmosphere. Overall - LOTS OF FUN, LAUGHTER AND GREAT FOOD!! Really good place to watch football. Really nice place to eat YUMMY RIBS AND CRABCAKES. Tonight was disappointing. We got there at 8:15. The dining room closes at 9 and we considered not staying but there was several people in the dining room so we got a table. The server was friendly. My daughter ordered one of the specials and we were told they were out of it. No big deal except it contained macaroni and pulled pork which is something that several other menu items have. We found her something else but it seemed to me like something they could have made. I ordered a crabcake and a baked potato with a side of vegetables. I didn't think to specify that I wanted the crabcake broiled and the server didn't ask and it came out fried. I can live with that. It was my mistake. The baked potato was clearly made several hours prior and the vegetables didn't come until halfway through my meal when I asked for them. My boyfriend ordered a burger. The burger was good but the bun was soggy. We ordered a piece of cheesecake for dessert that came out frozen. The worst part of the experience...at 9:15 As we're finishing dessert and trying to hurry out of respect for their time, the kitchen started blaring hip hop. I don't dislike the music but it was inappropriate while we were still in the dining room and especially while my children were with me. We're always ones to give a restaurant another chance. I really hope they get their act together between now and then. I wanted to write a review on their Facebook page but that wasn't an option. I'm beginning to think that was by design. read more

My daughter said the roll looked interesting I say it was hard as tree bark and it flaked off crust all over me, my plate, the table and the floor. Be prepared for an overpowering wave of cigarette smoke as you walk into the main entryway. The option of a bar with smoking to the right or a non smoking but still an odor of cigarettes restaurant to the left. Being a non smoker I chose the restaurant. It's got a country feel to the inside. Large choice of food. I chose the Delmonico steak which came with mashed potatoes (not given a choice of sides). The steak was over cooked and flavorless, the mashed potatoes had a strange taste and the gravy was not good at all. The captain and coke I got to drink was very small and was more coke than it should have been. I can't speak for all menu items but I can only imagine what they taste like. Wow.. just.....wow D: I won't waste my time going into too much detail here. But the last time I went I ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich.. terrible. Oh cool it comes with a little bag of chips and dollar store utensils, how cute. I figured, I haven't had one in awhile, and we are pretty close to MD...how bad could it be? Haha, well I can honestly say that until now, I have never had a sandwich completely crumble in my hand like that. Seriously. This thing was totally flavorless. The stale bun was twice the size of the crab cake. And the WHOLE thing just crumbled away. NO, I did NOT have a death grip on it. I was holding it like a normal human and it just imploded. Went here on a weekday, surprisingly busy, I thought I was in for a good meal, I was very wrong. Service and decor are fine, adult beverages were tasty, but the food was really bad. I actually can't remember the last time I had such bad food. I ordered their famous broasted chicken, I have had really good boasted chicken before and this was really bad, over cooked, skinless, there is nothing worse than greasy burnt rubbery chicken. My wife ordered a steak, she made the comment that she should have just ordered a charcoal briquette, it might have been better than what she ordered. Was this a restaurant or an extended kitchen of a clumsy pickle loving mother? As you can tell from the first sentence it was nothing of the sorts for a professional restaurant. My family and I walked out almost instantly. When walking up to the place the bar looked busy but had a poorly written sign stating no one under 21 permitted after 5. When we walked into the actual restaurant it looked very run-down and had no host. When walking towards the actual seating area there was a sign saying seat yourself. There was only one other family sitting down and they did not look pleased to be there. Before we could reach a table we were overwhelmed with the overly sour smell of vinegar from a pickle jar (reflection on the first sentence).
