I've been going to the Stables for so many years and always hit it up when I'm home. Lately though, it's just for drinks and apps. The food has gone a bit downhill. The dining room gets loud and crowded. I prefer the bar area or the patio if I'm home during the summer. The cheesey crab dip is a favorite. I also enjoy the steamed bottom crawlers too, clams and crab legs! They have a monthly menu with daily specials which I prefer over regular menu items. One of their signatures is the Diamond steak. I tried my husbands once and really wasn't a huge fan but I know people really do like it. It is a marinated strip steak that's grilled, but it's very thin and kind of chewy. The flavor isn't that bad though. The beer is cheap and bar tenders are nice. They have decent juke box and a pool table or two in the back. They have bands on the weekends. Not a bad place at all.

Decent food but wow I was put off by all the ridiculous propaganda. The owners of this place need to be more professional.

Not sure why people love Corner Stables but the service is always poor. And the food is mediocre at best. Not a place I recommend in York.

This place is great. Ribs are off the chart, and the shrimp I had with them were pretty good to . All for 15.00. Highly recommend.

They also have a Thursday pitcher special for a few hours but not many other drink specials unless you want one of their monthly mixed drink specials.

And I don't say this lightly -- it's the only one that competes with my own. Then the pizza showed up. Sourdough crust -- light, crisp, perfectly blistered. A cheese blend of mozzarella, ricotta, and grana padano that actually tastes like something. The white pizza? It's not "good for around here." It's just good. Period. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Zero complaints. I came to review. I left impressed.

Today was a snow day, and I finally had the privilege to join a group of friends for a fantastic lunch there, and boy was it good! Started with a cold glass of water and a Honey Lavender Latte; what a great way to warm up on a frigid winter day. My close friends had a Caramel Pumpkin Latte and a traditional Café Latte; nobody was disappointed with their drink of choice. A perfect crust topped with roasted garlic, mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and creamy Gorgonzola crumbles. $22.00 Very welcoming staff, sparking clean, and marked with touches nostalgic memorabilia around the restaurant. Consider it a "must" for those living and also visiting the downtown York. Everything that was walked past us as it left the kitchen made me want more, to see more, and to return more so I can try EVERYTHING once, if not, twice Definitely gonna return for the wings as they were not only smelling like the perfect wings but also looked equally amazing and delicious. My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.
