The inside was closed due to COVID-19, but the outside window was open. They were kind of busy and had a steady flow of people probably 50-50 getting food and the other half getting ice cream. We ordered a cheeseburger sub, a cheeseburger, large fries and a thick chocolate milkshake. The food was super fresh and tasty. My husband was raving about how soft his sub bread was and my cheeseburger was super fresh and the bun was soft as well. Everything was hot and fresh. It definitely hit the spot since we were hungry and there was nothing else around. The fries were fresh cut, which was surprising. The milkshake was thick as I ordered it and I felt the wait time for the food was normal for fresh cook to order food. We didn't have to wait to order, but like I said they appeared to have a steady flow of people. It's definitely a decent meal and exceeded our expectations since we where in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully next time I'll have room to try their soft serve ice cream. They also have hard turkey hill ice cream and Italian ice. read more

We found this place while cruising the back roads a couple of weeks ago and decided to return today. Both visits we have gotten the Beef BBQ which has a very tasty bbq sauce and sauteed onions but today I realized that it appears as though they use a chopped up hamburger, not fresh ground beef which was a little disappointing. Today we ordered a chili dog and while the hot dog was a nice size the chili was literally non-existent as you can see in the photo, perhaps a spoonful was added to the middle of the bun. The fries seemed to be fresh and hot but nothing to write home about. I do love their cole slaw, sweet and creamy and only 50 cents per container and the chocolate shake we got today was also very good. One other thing, not sure if the pup cups are free or if there is a charge for them because the receipt I was given both times was just for the credit card and was not itemized but they only put a very small amount of ice cream in the cup, next time we will just pay for a kids cup for our golden puppy. Staff is friendly, their prices are good and there is lots of parking but this place seems to always be busy and the line can get pretty long (especially for the ice cream side) so be patient. read more

They are busting their humps and doing the best they can; be prepared for long wait times, double check your pick-up/to-go order. Apparently this IS thE place to go for ice cream, burgers, and homemade fries. Right off of 74. Well the fries are OK. Not much flavor at all. Had to salt them to death to get some. The Philly steak sandwich was pretty good. Now for the smoothies....My husband has been here 5 times and they NEVER got his smoothie right. Either they gave him a syrup rather than fresh. Or the wrong flavor all together. Or how about they forgot and then we waited 30min for it. They really need to train their staff better and invest in some season salt. read more

We visit Collinsville fairly often. Love to take a motorcycle ride out for dinner and ice cream. This is NOT fancy in any way - it's a simple greasy spoon type place. But, service is always good, the food is always tasty. Love the soft serve ice cream! My favorites are peanut butter, raspberry and pumpkin (in the fall). I think they also do peach soft serve seasonally. Try the cheese steaks, chili dogs and fries w/cheese. Gets crowded at times - the inside is fairly small. Prices are pretty reasonable. read more

I'm very sad to report on my visit today. I haven't been in several years because they're kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I'm afraid this little oasis has taken a turn for the worse. I made the trip on my day off for one of the big fat cheeseburger subs I remember, but did not receive it. I found it odd that they served it open-faced in a styrofoam container (instead of butcher wrapped like in the old days) as if to show it off. It only served to highlight how small the burgers have become. The meat went from fairly epic, juicy patties which barely fit on the roll to thin, rubbery little silver dollar sized disks like the things you find on a Big Mac but drier and more processed tasting. The roll was almost a bit stale. The fries, as I recall, used to be quite large. These were small and dry, but still tasted okay. This was not a sub I'd go out of my way for anymore. The old version was one of the best cheeseburger subs I knew. This was not even what I'd call a good one. Probably a three on a scale of one to ten. New owners? This was the first time I actually went inside to order, as opposed to using the window. The place smelled rather musty and felt damp. I hope that was due to the rainy day we were having. The wait was STILL bad even though I was the only customer in the place. They've always had this problem. Since I've had many more good experiences here than bad, I'll give the benefit of the doubt and only deduct one star... for now. I hope things turn back around. read more

Stopped here on a whim for a late lunch after spending the morning hiking in some state and county parks. We thought we'd keep it simple and split a cheesesteak. Turns out the large Cheesesteak was so large our late lunch became an early dinner. Big fans of the Cheesesteak as well. Nice seasoning on the meat and they use wiz (as it should be). Tomatoes were very fresh as well. For those who are complaining about the size of the cheeseburger patty, I'll note they didn't point out they only cost $1.75. We stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon to get some ice-cream. It was a cool day and not many cars were in the parking lot so we assumed service would be quick. We stepped up to the outside serving window, and a girl said, "We'll be with you shortly." Then we stood there, along with two other sets of customers, and waited...and waited...and waited. We finally bailed after standing there for at least six or seven minutes, watching the three or four workers scooting around in the kitchen. I know that things get busy and I totally get that, but at least give us an update on why paying customers are just left standing there. Customer service goes a long way, so we took our business elsewhere. :( read more

Went there for supper one night. We ordered the ham and chicken platter. When we started to eat the french fries in mixed around was a fly fried in the grease. We took it to the owner who fid not think much about it. Never offered our money back or offered to make us something else. This place needs to have a cleaning and the health inspecter. read more

I'm actually really surprised about the ratings. I love to go in and grab a burger on the way to work. Their food is awesome. Exactly what you would want out of an old school drive inn. Fresh cut fries, and a shake. Can't go wrong. And the prices are cheap. I don't understand the princesses that only gave a one rating. Oh, and to the lady that gave a one because of the masks. Stay at home cupcake. No one wants a shitty review because you're scared to go out in public. Some people are just assholes. read more

My wife and I were at the restaurant today at lunch to get some ice cream to go at their outside window. The restaurant was maybe 1/4-1/3 filled. We rang the bell, waited a couple minutes, no one came to the window. We rang again, a small child who could barely see over the counter came to the window, left, and still no service after a couple of minutes. Again we rang, this time number of times, waited a couple minutes, but still no service. Don't waste your time going to this place, clearly they don't care at all about their business or customers. read more

This drive in is the real deal! Excellent food, especially their fried chicken and hand cut fries. I've never had anything here that wasn't good. The ice cream is great, the music is great. They have outside seating, walk up window ordering, inside seating. Oh, and the homemade soup is to die for! read more

My husband always drives past here on the way to work so I thought we could meet him there for dinner and ice cream. The place is always packed at dinner time. Cheap food was a plus! However... The hamburger patty was less than a centimeter thick, the fresh cut fries were hard to chew- maybe the grease was old.., the ground up chicken nuggets are shaped like stars. The floors were quite dirty.. AND.. Wait for it... The staff doesn't wear gloves and man handles ALL the food- buns, lettuce, tomato, fries they just grab with their bare hands. Staff was standoffish. Now the Positives.. Grilled chicken sandwich was good! Order that, not a hamburger! I liked that it looked somewhat historic, old pictures, very cool little hang out for locals. Basketball hoop in the back of the restaurant, game room, keeps kids out of trouble. My 6 year said the ice cream was good but only got three little cookie doughs in the whole bowl. Seemed like the icecream was the biggest seller. My husband and I stoped in for a quick bite. It's a cute little diner ( throwback 50-60's). We ordered cheesesteak with fries. It was very good. Decided to go for dessert and had fresh strawberry sundae. As well, very good. The fresh strawberries really did the trick to make the sundae one of the best I've had in a long time. read more
