We absolutely LOVED corner kitchen. Corner kitchen is one of the few restaurants I've seen that lets you reserve their patio. We were traveling through Asheville with our dog and eight month old and were able to reserve patio seating. It's a very cute patio with a fountain. The service was impeccable. We mentioned to our server that we have a time crunch with our baby and food was out and ready within that time crunch. We started with the seared tuna which had a perfectly even delicious crust all the way around. We also got some fried green tomatoes with an excellent pimento cheese. For entrees we split the summer scallops and the shrimp and grits. The scallops were buttery deliciousness with no grit which I find is a rarity in restaurants these days, even though it shouldn't be. The accompanying risotto was made with corn and was just a beautiful accompaniment. The shrimp and grits were creamy and flavorful, and had real occasion flare to them. Our kiddo enjoyed a grilled cheese and green beans and she loved it! Drinks were also fantastic, I really recommend this place for dogs as well as kids with their separate kids menu, crayons, high chairs, and beautiful outdoor patio. Traveling from NY read about this restaurant and so happy we stopped. The ambiance is warm and inviting as if you were in someone's home. The decor is simple but trendy. Noise level is moderate in this upper casual dining space. Tables are well spaced, and the environment is warm and relaxing. Our server Jerry was amazing. Sitting on a corner in Historic Biltmore Village this restaurant is located in a cute little house that has been converted into a restaurant. It is set in the middle of lots of trees. The weather was so nice and we wished we had asked to sit outside. We sat in the room with a bar. It had big picture windows so it felt like the outside came inside. Nice ambiance. They fill up fast so reservations are recommended. Our server was Scott P. He was wonderful. Very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I ordered the Bagel and "Lox" Sammie. The Pickled green tomatoes and the Lusty Monk-Caper Aioli sauce set this sammie in a league of it's own. The crispy thin fries with rosemary and Parmesan were so good you didn't need a dipping sauce. The homemade pickle was yummy. The hubby chose the Chef's Daily Lunch Special. I hope I get this right. It was Shakshuka, a West African dish. Two poached eggs in tomato sauce, herbs and spices served over their house stone ground grits with goat cheese as well as fried artichokes and locally grown cilantro. He gave it two thumbs up. We decided to share the homemade CK Ginger Ale. Excellent choice. The first sip is quite stout. You must like ginger in order to enjoy this drink because the ginger is very strong. We do and we really liked it. The hubby and I were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary so we were given a complementary dessert. We chose the Dark Chocolate Mousse. It was served in a little jar. Each bite was different... either salted caramel coffee foam or chocolate crunchies. YUM! Our bill was $42.80 before tip and it was worth every penny! There was a wait if you did not make a reservation, however, we were sat right way upstairs. Our server was Ally, very kind and gave great recommendations based on your food preferences and my dairy intolerance. Everyone receives an amuse bouche on the house. I had the vegan bolognese (so savory and flavorful forgot to take a pic) and he had the Ponzu Glazed Maitake Mushroom appetizer and clam chowder. It was our anniversary and they were very kind to also offer us a dessert on the house. I had the banana sorbet, not a fan of many sorbets. It was delectably smooth and tasted just like homemade banana ice cream. We throughly enjoyed our time there and were happy to be out a little over an hour to get back to our place. Quick Summary This was a upscale casual version of their Chestnut restaurant. Food was fantastic and similar to Chestnut. Ambiance was definitely much more casual than Chestnut. Parking can similarly be difficult as it's street parking Food- 5 stars Corn and crab chowder- this was decent. It paled in comparison to the entrees Pecan crusted trout- this was very good. Excellent flavor throughout and very balanced. I couldn't stop eating it Pork chop- my friends couldn't stop raving about how good the pork chop it was. I assume they get the same supplier as Chestnut, and I thought their pork chop was phenomenal Drinks- 5 stars The Vanderbilt Martini was fantastic. We got to visit some family during our stay in Asheville NC, the Corner Kitchen in Biltmore village has been highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint! The service was great and the brunch was great, I can tell they use high quality ingredients. Wifey had the Shrimp and grits that were very rich and a nice tangy light broth. The sausage and shrimp were delicious. I had the Homemade corn beef hash, the potatoes, sauce and corned beef were very savory and the rye bread was so good to soak everything up on the plate. We stumbled across this restaurant while driving around Biltmore Village looking for a place to eat breakfast before our visit to the Biltmore Estate. Wow! Our food was excellent. I had the daily Egg's Benedict and it was the most flavorful and delicious one I have ever eaten. My husband commented that the cheddar grits were the best he had ever eaten. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately and the entire staff seemed to work with expert efficiency. There is a sign that shows the high water mark from the flood. We were so glad to go to Corner Kitchen for brunch/lunch today. We enjoy their sister restaurant Chestnut in downtown Asheville (see my review for Chestnut) so we were anxious to try CK. We were not disappointed. Wonderful location in Biltmore Village. The food at these two restaurants is always stellar. The chefs being fresh local ingredients to their menus always coming up with unique and delicious dishes. Today I had Boozy French Toast which was amazing (I ate every bit not something I often do) while my husband had the Eggs Benedict special which had pulled pork and cheddar cheese along with a peach hollandaise sauce. His side option was grits. I tried his dish as well and oh my it was scrumptious. The service was great from the hostess to our server. The restaurant is in an older home which adds to the ambiance. We sat upstairs next to a window so could enjoy the soft rainy day and watch the folks walking by. (Especially the fellow who wore a T-shirt which said "Irony...the opposite of wrinkly".) I highly recommend both Chestnut and Corner Kitchen. This restaurant is listed in Asheville Magazine and I can tell you 99% of the restaurants listed there are top notch. Corner Kitchen is no exception. There was no option on Google to make a reservation, and when we walked up, it was a 45 minute wait. The hostess checked us in via Resy. One of the things you should do (for feedback) is to make it known in your Google page about page that you use Resy to book reservations. I went with two of my co-workers and they loved my pick. Excellent service, not just by our server, but by the entire staff. Kudos! CK is pet friendly and will bring out a bowl of water and snacks if available. Our table ordered the Soup of the Day, the Trout, Duck Salad, and Lox Salmon. Everyone loved their dishes. I can tell you if you're a duck connoisseur, it's a bit on the liver-tasting side. Visiting Asheville, we went to a church about a mile away from Corner Kitchen, we decided to try a Sunday Brunch here today. I looked on the website beforehand and saw how you supported local non profits and also believed in giving a living wage to your employees, having served & worked in the restaurant business , I was pleased to see this. I am someone who has all the empathy and compassion for those in the food service industry. In Charlotte, where we live, I feed and minister to our unhoused community, which began when a local business donated food to this labor of love. If you are ever in the Charlotte area, I recommend visiting Community Matters Cafe, where every visit supports those in recovery for addiction. Chef Chayil is a lesson in excellence. My husband and I read the reviews and saw that it was recommended to make reservations, which we did. We entered the porch waiting area, and the first one to greet us was Marla dog and her nice humans. This touched our hearts as our beloved rescue dog recently crossed rainbow bridge. We went to Lake Lure to honor her memory at the rainbow bridge there. Marla dog could give lessons to your hostess on how to greet and treat guests. When we arrived, I was rudely and abruptly told by a young woman in glasses to wait outside when I inquired about our reservation. We did so. I watched as she rudely and abruptly interacted with and called other guests. The hostess is your first impression of an establishment, and unfortunately, this one did not leave us with a good impression. When we were called in, this young woman sat us at the bar area. I was not pleased with this either as we had went to the trouble of making a reservation and my husband has pain in his knees due to arthritis it hurt my heart to see him have difficulty in sitting in the high bar stools. It was very uncomfortable and painful for him. I would deduct more stars because of this, and only leave a one - or two star review, but my husband says because the food and the waitress were good to give you a three star review. The deduction is solely for the hostess in glasses and her lack of courtesy and care . As you can see from the pic, there were open tables that were available. Apparently, making a reservation does not guarantee you a table, even if there are available ones. Sitting at the bar in the high chairs caused increased pain and discomfort to my husband. We did not make reservations to be rudely seated at the bar. This is the worst expierence I've ever had with a hostess, and a quick look at your reviews, especially the negative ones reveals this is not the first time guests have been treated rudely by a hostess. Though I do hope it will be the last. All people should be welcomed and given a seat at the table, especially if reservations were made beforehand specifically for this. Being seated at the bar by the hostess caused increased pain , discomfort, and stress to my husband, and made it all a very unpleasant experience. Due to the discourteous hostess, who is a reflection and first impression of you and your establishment, I would not recommend going here if you are visiting the area. Be aware that even making a reservation, you may not be seated at a table. Also, if you are disabled the bathrooms are upstairs and do not appear to be accessible to those in wheelchairs neither is the entry wheelchair accessible if you or someone in your party is disabled this is something to be cognizant of. Of all the wonderful food places Asheville is fortunate to have, the experience here was the worst for us. I hope you will take this review constructively and use it to sharpen and improve the experience at the Corner Kitchen. We selected the Corner Kitchen for brunch after my daughter did a quick Yelp search. It has a higher end feel than we were looking for in (and bringing to) the restaurant however, after confirming we didn't have reservations, we were seated and had a very friendly waiter share the specials with us. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I had the huevos rancheros and Bloody Mary. Both were fabulous!! Shrimp & grits were very good my daughter says (and less salt in the sauce would have been better.) Five of us decided to have lunch at Corner Kitchen due to its proximity to another store my friend wanted to check out. Luckily that was the case as the table wait time was thirty minutes for a Monday afternoon. Totally could see why but next time I will make reservations! Corner Kitchen is located in a house converted into a restaurant. This creates an interesting atmosphere of smaller rooms that weren't necessarily designed for dining and steep staircases since it seems old houses loved steep staircases. When the room has every table occupied I found it challenging to hear the people at my table and they me. Once one of the tables vacated it became easier to manage. It wasn't necessarily because they were loud, but with low ceilings, hardwood floors, and thin sound dampening pads there's a lot of opportunity for noise amplification. Our waiter was professional and polite. He wasn't the most engaging of the servers I encountered on this trip and seemed a little distracted. But he was polite and efficient. The cocktails were great. I loved the gimlet. It was perfectly balanced, sweet and tart, and very smooth. I ordered the burger for lunch. I asked for white bread since the only bun they had was brioche which I can't eat. The burger was cooked perfect. The pickled tomato was a great and necessary addition because without it there was no balance to the burger's saltiness. It was a bit extreme. The French fries were overly salted for my preference. I couldn't eat them they were too salty but I had several friends who had no difficulty. It was a good experience. read more

Excellent brunch spot in Asheville. We were seated at the bar right away. The bartender/server was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The bar seats were comfortable and had hooks to hang bags, as well as built in outlets with USB's. I had the corned beef hash; subbed the poached eggs for over medium and the rye toast for a biscuit. This place has some of the freshest tasting food I've ever had. We tried multiple vegetarian dishes, fruit and a burger. There was something for everyone. Normally the vegetarian in our group is stuck with ordering a salad but not here. There's a ton of option on the menu. She raved at how delicious each dish was. I normally don't delve into that world but I tried some of the food because she was so high on it. The bruschetta was really good. It had interesting flavors with none of them overpowering the others. Even the balsamic had a very light taste that fell into line with the other ingredients. I loved the burger. It was a good portion size with enough seasoning to complement it while letting the meat still be the star. I also have to mention the fruit. I don't know how they did it but everything tasted like it was in season even though it's the middle of winter. It had blackberries, strawberries, and apples. Located near the Biltmore Estate this is a top pick for the area. This section of town has similar styled buildings in the manner of the Biltmore House. It makes the village area have a certain period feel to it. Parking can be tough but that's typical for all area stores. Get those walking shoes on! read more

This is the sister restaurant to the Chestnut and after loving the Chestnut so much, we decided it was a safe bet to come here....and I'm happy to report it was a great meal! Our waiter was kind and gave great recommendations - hubby got the halibut and I got the coulotte steak. The halibut was fabulous, definitely a 5/5. Our waiter was smart and kind enough to temper my expectations of the steak (not going to be as tender and a little more chewy), otherwise this review might be slightly different. However, I do think the price was high for the steak for what it was. Again, everything needed a touch of salt, but I'd much rather had salt than a dish be too salty. For dessert, we got the pumpkin cake - HIGHLY recommend this and get it a la mode! It's more like a spice cake than pumpkin, but it's flavorful, moist, and well with the try.
