It is located in a Victorian old house, with beautiful and well preserved pieces of decor throughout the place. You feel like you are invited to someone's house for dinner. We shared the charcuterie board, which at $24 was appropriately priced. After living here for years, I finally got around to having a meal at the much touted Corner Kitchen. Frankly, I always thought it was more for tourists and assumed it wasn't very good. Thankfully, I was wrong. We had an early lunch here on a Monday afternoon and avoided the wait by getting an 11 AM reservations. We were seated immediately in a cozy little cottage, over by the bar. The service was very friendly, from the host who greeted us to our server. I had the Pork Belly Banh Mi and my husband had the frittata special. They day's frittata was salmon with cream cheese. Both our meals were delicious. While not at all an authentic Banh Mi, it was certainly inspired. The bread had a nice light crust, not the kind that will tear up your mouth. A smear of pate aioli gave just a hint of the unctuous pate that I love in my Banh Mi. The pickled carrot and daikon were on point and plentiful. The pork belly was seared perfectly and seasoned just right, caramelized, sweet and salty. I thought it might be too much, but with a side of their bacon pea salad, it was just right. Not too heavy. My only wish is that it had more fragrant cilantro (it was muted, maybe just that batch) and some heat, like from jalapenos on a traditional banh mi. My husband's frittata didn't look impressive, but tasted delicious. In case you haven't tried it - the combination of smoke salmon, cream cheese and eggs is always a winner. When we see that combination on the menu, we have to order it. Great food, lovely ambiance, quaint part of town. read more

Man oh man! This place is worth the hype! Learn from my mistake and call ahead or book on resy for a reservation. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a bar seat since the rest of the restaurant seating was for people who called ahead. It was Sunday brunch and the restaurant had a constant flow of people. I took this as a good sign and it was! This was some of the best French toast I have had in a long time. This was because their French toast is so unique. They call it boozy French toast, because it has Grand Marnier liqueur in the batter! Not to mention, they use my favorite bread for French toast: Challah Bread! They top it with home made whipped cream, fresh fruit, and pecans! It's served with a side of bacon and bourbon sorghum syrup. If you love French toast as much as me, you need to order this! It's pairs nicely with the coffee they have too! It also is conveniently located to the Biltmore Estate, so if you have plans to visit there, then it's a win win. read more

This one was a pleasant surprise! I was unenthusiastic about the online menu but reluctantly had lunch here after being turned away at another establishment unless I was up for a 45 min wait. Pretty sure it was because I was a party of one, because the other place was no more than 50% capacity. Regarding my reservations about Corner Kitchen, I was wrong! It is amazing. I had a bloody Maria with house-made mix, followed by the grilled chicken salad. You know how you like chicken salad, in theory, when it's not gooped up with too much nasty mayonnaise? Chicken salad at Corner Kitchen does not suffer this indignation because it's made with an entirely reasonable amount of house-made vinaigrette. Vegetables and other ingredients were fresh; chicken salad was first rate. I might be back tomorrow. read more

Both the watermelon gazpacho and the daily soup of corn and squash chowder were quite good. The appetizer and the soups came out very very quickly. Then a looong pause before the mains. The two mains we tried, the strip and the chicken were both ok, just needlessly, distractingly, overly fussy. Based on the menu, pretty much every main course was similarly complex. In the positive side, the many ingredients that went into all the various elements on the chicken went pretty harmoniously together. With so much going on, it just made the dish less pleasant to eat. Felt like a chef trying to show off. Perhaps that's just me, but I'd much rather back off so much complexity and show how the kitchen can make delicious dishes out of fresh seasonal ingredients. read more

There is a cart to leave your umbrellas outside and an area to hang your coats right when you walk in. Rose our server was very nice and attentive. I rely on you during my travels to discover wonderful finds. A party of two we shared three courses as we sat at a table near the kitchen. Their portions are so generous! The restaurant is in an old house which creates an interesting dinning experience. Our food came very fast. I had the Cajun seared catfish sammie with the potato feta salad. The sandwich was good, nothing that knocked my socks off, but filled me up. The catfish was mild and moist, but overall, the sandwich lacked flavor for me. The potato feta side salad was delicious and if I went back, I would get this again. Once we realized everyone who came in after us was already paying their bill, we asked about our food and magically it came out about 10 minutes later.
