Went in a couple years ago at Christmas time to buy a piece of art for my wife. They not only had the artwork I liked but did a great job framing it --- perfect workmanship!! They have an awesome selection of framing material on-site and they take the time and have the knowledge and experience to make sure the framing, matting, etc will bring any art to life! After seeing how good they made this piece look, I would consider having they re-frame some other art in our house. I brought in a picture to be framed. When I returned to pick up the picture, I noticed that a couple of the corners of the frame were damaged. When I brought it to the attention of the owner, Morgan, I got a less than courteous response. The issue was little pieces of the frame missing at the corners. He said that he would fix it...he took it into the back room, did a shoddy job of fixing it & brought it back to me...saying it was perfect. I said I was not happy with the repair & asked instead that he replace that part of the frame. He said "No, I'm not going to do that, I'm not going to pay to replace the frame"...there is nothing wrong with it ( I guess little pieces missing on the corners shouldn't be an issue for a customer). This was NOT a sale item, I paid full price. He asked that I leave the frame and he would make it "more perfect". I needed to leave the picture one more time, until it was mostly acceptable. In addition, when I setup the original order, I put a deposit on another job...after the horrible experience that I had had I asked for my initial (voluntary) payment back, for the job which he had not started yet. He was only willing to refund 66% of my money. The entire experience that I had with this business ranks among the worst demonstrations of customer service that I have ever encountered. read more

I recently gave Corner Frame Shop a try, and their work is excellent! I've now had 2 paintings framed, and they restored an old painting as well. The restoration was of a painting that my dad created 30+ yrs ago, and I was very nervous about having it worked on. It came back beautifully, much better than I had hoped for. Morgan does have a great eye for matching frames to your art, and his suggestions turned out to be perfect compliments to both pieces that I brought in. His prices were less than Michaels(even with their 60% off coupon). His selection of unique frames is far superior to anywhere else I've been. We have been using Corner Frame Shop for many years since we moved to Encinitas 16 years ago. They always do a great job. Very nice friendly people. We have a lot of Japanese and Asian and Pacific NW Native-American art in our house and have very high standards for quality (some of our Japanese art pieces were framed at professional art galleries in Japan where the quality standards, as you can imagine, are quite a bit higher than in the US generally). But we have never had a problem or been dissatisfied with CFS, so they must be good. They will help you pick an appropriate frame and give advice on framing. Once with an oil painting I was trying to save some $ and ignored Trish's advice to matt and frame it larger. Big mistake. I have regretted not taking her advice every since. Don't know what Alec W's problem was but since he is in North Carolina according to his id I can only wonder whether he posted the wrong CFS? Or if accurate then I think his experience was a "one off" unusual one. Besides, this is an art framing store, not for desk photos. Probably should have gotten a cheap frame from K-Mart to begin with? read more

I'm getting ready to go back for my of their great help! A few years ago, I took a very large, very old mirror in to be refurbished...the frame's design was in very poor shape...they remolded the plaster appliques and repainted it...amazing work!!! Really...remarkable...now I've inherited another portrait with old frame that needs some TLC and am taking in to these wonderful people...In addition, they have rematted and framed countless items for me throughout the years...I tell everyone to go to the Corner Frame Shop in Encinitas! read more

Just real nice people who know their craft and have a huge selection. They frame photos to art work to cloth pieces. Everything they have done is quality work and I often just drop it off with little instruction and leave it to their judgment (Morgan or Trish). One time I had the wrong matting color and they redid the whole thing with no questions (and the error may have been mine). I drive from Del Mar to get all my stuff done here from basic to large. I have never felt upsold and Morgan is a huge hit with my sons as well. (Great wallpaper in the bathroom). read more

Today I went in this store to get some art framed I received from my grandmother. I can't tell you how disappointed I was at the way I was treated from the minute I said hello to the point I walked out the door. I am a resident of Leucadia and felt like I was not welcome in the store and disturbing their work. I walked to the back of the store as I thought it was an entrance since there was a door with a business sign and people in the back and was where the parking was. Then when walked to the front was given a snippy comment when in the store "there's the door". Then I asked for a recommendation and it just got worse from there. I try to support my local businesses, but was so upset when leaving this store I will not go back. I was also asked if there was a problem because the person working there could tell I was upset. read more

I went to the Corner Frame Shop to get a picture framed. On the street side were a cofusing array of doors, one of which seemed to be for a surf shop, none of which was open. I went around to the back and found an open door. Inside was a man on the other side of a counter working intently on some papers. Despite the fact that I stood an arm's length in front of him for several minutes he paid no attention to me. Thinking maybe he needed to concentrate on his paper work, I walked out and again looked around for an entrance I might have missed. There were none, so I went back in and again stood in front him for another several minutes. Finally I asked if this was the Corner Frame Shop. He replied yes, but that they were closed on Monday and there was a sign ouside saying "nope". After such disrespectful treatment, my advice to a frame buyer is to say "nope" to this one. I went across N. Vulcan Avenue and got my picture framed. read more
