The gentleman behind the counter was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind throughout the entire process. The store was clean and very busy, yet he never made me feel rushed. I needed several Photoshop adjustments, and he took the time to carefully address every single detail. I truly appreciated how thorough he was, especially since I came in feeling a little nervous about the whole process. This is the best film/photo lab in the greater SD area! Christina who owns/runs it is super nice and very accommodating. I loaded a roll of film incorrectly into my camera and it didn't develop properly so she readily gave me store credit for my next roll. I didn't expect any sort of reimbursement because I had this happen once before at a different store in SD and they offered no compensation. (Not a big deal but super nice that Christina gave credit!) I have gotten three rolls developed here now and they always come back within a day, easily accessed by email, and the price is great for a one-day turnaround! Extremely great service! Was looking for Canadian Passport photos. Everyone advertises, but they don't know enough about what's needed. UPS store photos were rejected. Then I found Cristina. She had me adjust my height , move shoulders, etc, she could quote dimensions off the top of her head and took great care knowing previous had been rejected. They had a special machine that put my face in exact spot before clipping. Great value! as she took her her time to tell me what to expect since she had taken so many before me. read more

If you need photos for non-US citizenship and passports, Total Photo is amazing. I needed multiple sets of photos for three people for multiple purposes and went in all prepared with printouts of the photo requirements and even a little ruler to make sure everything was the right size. That turned out to be completely unnecessary because the owner, Christina, is an absolute expert. She knew photo size, head size, specifics regarding glare/facial expression/body position, and which photos needed to be stamped on the back, all off the top of her head. She said she'd never known of an application being rejected due to one of her photos and I believe it. After all the photos were printed out, she made sure each set was in a little envelope, appropriately labeled. The price was great, too. Can't recommend highly enough! read more

I came here because I heard how great the service here is and I was not disappointed! The woman that greeted me was so sweet and patient with me. She explained the whole process of film developing and it was super simple! You just drop off the film, they develop and email you within 2 days with the digital prints (if that's what you choose) and you can pick up the negatives within 2 months. After 2 months, they will toss your negatives, so be aware of that! The prints came out great and I will definitely be coming back next time I need prints done! read more

COVID related: I dropped by earlier in June to try and get my passport photos taken, but was told that they wouldn't start taking them and appointments only until July. I emailed them to set up an appointment which was quick and easy. Luckily I was able to get an appointment in the nick of time with Christina since my guarantor (for my Canadian passport) was about to move back to Canada and I needed him to sign the photos! I am so happy this place exists, otherwise I would have needed to make a trek downtown on a weekday as Total Photo and the downtown business are the only places that I am aware of that know how to take Canadian passport photos. Canada has very strict and have very clear specifications on the pictures they accept and it would be a pain if my photos got rejected. Total Photo is also open on Saturdays making it much more convenient whereas the other location is only open on weekdays. When I arrived, I was comforted again to see how seriously they were taking covid, as both of us were masked, and it was only for the picture when I temporarily took off the mask. Christina was also very pleasant to correspond and work with. Having just heard back from the Canadian passport office, they had nothing to say about my photos and just needed something else confirmed. Thank goodness! These folks do a great job with your super special photographs. I needed a very special photo of our dachshund winning the highest award in the U.S., and I needed it enlarged and mounted on something substantial. Tom had the perfect medium and it was bamboo wood. My photo had a color glitch with the handler of the dog and Tom did a magnificent job of correcting it and the dog and handler looked fabulous. The mounted photo was shared as a gift and the recipient (who has seen tons of dog photos) was truly impressed. At the heart of their business, these folks are photographers and I can't wait to get my Africa Safari photos evaluated and printed. I trust them implicitly. 5 star worthy! read more

I just got a brand new film camera and I was dying to get my first roll of film developed and for my first time ever it was a very positive experience. Staff was super friendly on the phone and in the store. They answered all of my dumb questions very straightforwardly. The only thing I will say is that when I got my film developed a few of them showed up blank and I didn't hear anything about that from them and they just gave me 1/2 of the pictures. Which is understandable for my first roll but I was just a little confused.. but I think I just shot the film wrong for my first camera. I will definitely be visiting this place again to get my next roll of film developed! read more

This place is the best film develop spot in San Diego! I have been going here for about a year now and I cannot recommend them enough! As a hobbyist film photographer it is amazing to have film developed in less than 3 days so consistently. Even have had 24 hour turn around! Staff here is always so nice and willing to chat as well. I have had issues like a blank roll that was refunded no question as well as had black and white film that took a couple days longer refunded just because they felt like it took too long! I have moved 20+ minutes away from here but still love to go here because of how quick their development is and how great the workers are here. Seriously best place in San Diego! read more

I've been getting my film developed at total photo for years! They are quick, efficient and usually develop phots with 24-48 hours of drop off. Then you can choose to download them to an app, pick up prints in person or both! I tell everyone about Total Photo as there is no other photo store like it in San Diego (or the greater USA). Super grateful that CVS did not have envelopes for developing film. Daughter took 3 disposable cameras to camp and we were looking for a place to have them developed. CVS said they can't help because they have no envelopes for processing. Quick search on the phone showed I was across the street from Total Photo. Dropped them off right away. I came in today to get my Canadian passport photo taken. The holiday hours are posted on their website, which is excellent, because it really sucks when businesses don't update that! I also messaged them using Yelp and got a prompt response. The photo took literally 2 seconds- just the way I like it. You can't smile in a Canadian passport photo, so of course I looked scary as all hell, but Christina was able to take another photo to compare the two. That was really awesome of her. She was also super friendly and very approachable. My photo ended up having some glare (sorry moisturizer + highlighter) - I totally forgot about that! I think the gentleman in the back room was Tom, and he was able to take away the glare without the photo looking even more stupid as my face did in it! They are super friendly and professional. I would highly recommend them if you need any photos, or passports. The price was around $21 with some change which is fine to me. I expect a price like that anywhere. I had an issue with the quality of my photos I had downloaded and Christina was incredibly kind and found my old film, examined it and found the issue (which was that the actual film I turned in was exposed to sun/damaged, and it wasn't my computer that was downloading it poorly). She offered to give me a refund and was very patient with me over the phone. I would recommend Total Photo to everyone and their service is obviously great- I just wish I didn't turn in crap film. Friendly, quick, and professional! I had two rolls of 35 mm film developed and was also sent digital scans. The entire process was simple with their COVID protocol. I dropped off my film at their door and provided my contact information. The next day I received an invoice electronically, followed by my digital/physical copies. Awesome little photo store! I just wanted to develop a disposable camera and it was so quick and easy. They have a small table at the door of their store that you walk up to and they'll have you fill out an envelope and drop your camera or film rolls in. Just over 24 hours after I got an email with the link to my photos and the physical copies were ready to be picked up in store. Amazing place! I had found a couple of old disposables and I forgot what was on them. I was so excited to get them developed I felt like I couldn't wait! I was referred by a friend who spoke very highly of them, so I called Total Photo. I spoke to a woman who was extremely patient and helpful and kind. They are extremely efficient and streamlined in their services. My photos were developed in 1 business day in great quality. They have a great setup to drop off the film; it took me less than 3 minutes. All I had to do was fill out an envelope with my contact information and the media type I wanted the photos to be processed in, put the film in, and put it in a box. The next day I got an invoice; 10 minutes after I filled out the invoice I got my download link. Super easy and fast. I will be referring everyone I know here and I will be coming here for all my photo needs. read more
