Had dinner here Friday night, the busiest I've ever seen at dinner, guess nobody wanted to cook with the heat. We were seated quickly though. Brianna was our waitress and she was great. She was busy but gave friendly service as quickly as possible. The food came out hot even though it took a while with the crowd. Disappointment for the third time. . .I will not try a fourth. Laura, my waitress, was slooooow. If she would have quit talking and actually waited on me, she would have gotten a tip. But no, she wanted to tell everyone her entire life story. When she wasn't gabbing, she was just standing and doing nothing. I had to keep asking for a refill on my coffee, which still took her 10 minutes. More napkins? Oh, another 10 minutes. My date even had to ask for a refill. When Laura got it, she still had to stop and talk to everyone she passed. Even other waitresses. She would talk until they turned and walked away. She should save the gabbing about her children and step children and just post it on facebook. People are there to eat. Oh, and for the prices they charge, I got poor quality food that gave me diarrhea. My chicken fingers were so tough and dry I brought them home for my dog. read more

My family had brunch here to celebrate my son's birthday. We've always enjoyed the food but the service is lacking almost every time we visit. We had an incident at our most recent visit that left me and my family flabbergasted. After we were seated, a girl came over and said she wasn't our server but she was helping out our server. We gave her our drink orders and she came back promptly with the drinks and immediately spilled a large glass of Sprite all over my daughter and our table. She was embarrassed and apologetic and got us some napkins so we could clean up HER mess. We were confused but my daughter was wet and sticky and it was my son's birthday so we got to cleaning instead of complaining. We had to ask multiple people for more napkins because their napkins aren't meant to clean up spilled large drinks. Finally, our server came over and handed us some paper towels. Again, NO ONE on the staff offered to help us. When my daughter got back from the bathroom after trying to get the sticky off (unsuccessfully), my husband notice that there was a "Sprite lake" under our table and asked if we could just move to the table next to ours which had just opened up. We were told yes and then we moved all our own stuff including my frail mother's drinks, menus, etc. to the next table. Our server waited on us afterwards and our food came pretty quickly, was hot and accurate so we ate. We didn't see her again until she brought us our check. We were all sucking on ice because we couldn't get anyone's attention for drink refills. I think she didn't want to be associated with the mess and we had to remind ourselves that we didn't spill the drink but were treated like we did. We got our check and thought that you guys would at least comp the Sprite but nope....we weren't even offered dessert to buy which is my mom's favorite part of your restaurant and with our server's crummy attitude, we were too scared to ask. I've had her before as a server and I don't enjoy my visits when she waits on me. I think it's time to review the protocol to your servers of what to do when they douse a customer in drinks. I don't think it's to make them clean it up and then treat them like they are menaces. Please don't reply with your repeated answer to email you. Went in for dinner last night. Was seated by a young kid with a buzz cut. The table had been bussed but not cleaned or sanitized. We requested the table be clean and sanitized. He took the menus and scraped the crumbs off on the floor. I asked that the table be sanitized. Was met with an audible sigh. The host (?) said it was the servers job. I told him that he should not have set us at that table. The table was halfway wiped down. I asked for a manager. She came and agreed that the table was not properly prepare and apologized. I told her that in these times basic sanitation should be a priority. Have ate here for years and never had an issue. Too bad one lazy non caring employee ruined that relationship. read more

Yes, this is the one Bushie visited a year ago and had a biscuit. I've been going to this place for years. A restaurant with a farmhouse country theme, specializing in midwest fare. Good weekly specials: Italian one night, Mexican the next. They bake all their baked goods in house, so the rolls are fresh, the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are divine. Be sure to try the fresh strawberry pie when it's in-season. Friday's pot roast is just like how Mom makes it. Their breakfasts are pretty good as well. The service has always been prompt and friendly. They are also quick to remedy any problems you have with your food. read more

I've been to several restaurants all over this country and I must say that Corner Cafe is by far the best food at the best price and served by the best people. They set the standard for me. Came in at 1pm on a Sunday with a hankering for B&G's. Unfirtunately, they stop serving their famous biscuits and gravy at 11 everyday. My Gringo omelet was good. Wife's French toast was cold and my daughters diced ham and eggs were luke warm at best. I finally visited this highly recommended restaurant in Riverside. We went on Mother's Day for a late brunch and surprisingly did not have a long wait. Our waitress was professional and friendly. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between our waitress and the kitchen, so our food took much longer than expected. Her customer service shined due to her offering us both a free dinner roll (which was served warm and delicious) and two massive cinnamon rolls to take home. Our food finally arrived to our delight. I ordered a breakfast centered meal whereas my Mother ordered the pork tenderloin. We both agree the food was excellent and had that home-cooked feel to it. I really enjoyed my experience here. Then my nephew order four piece chicken on and birthday girl order fried catfish and other at table got their food first. Then 20 mins later chicken and catfish come out. Went on (8/15) for breakfast and there were plenty of pros and cons. Pros Theme of restaurant was nice Great service from waiter Price was really good. Cons Only con was that after we ate our stomachs hurt, that could/could not of been because of the food. Overall it was a decent place but not as good as other breakfast diners. read more

I'm a Chicagoan so I'm a big fan of ~weekend brunch~, so when my cousin suggested Corner Cafe while I was in KC this past weekend, I had high expectations... that were exceeded! The decorations in here reminded me of a country cottage or visiting a cabin in the woods, which felt welcoming and cozy. I ordered the spinach and artichoke omelette, and it was SO good that I even got my sister to try it, and she's not really a fan of omelettes. She loved it, obviously, because this place rocks. The prices here also can't be beat, especially for such high quality. I believe my family's waitress was named Michelle (short hair, tattoos) and she was FUNNY, which made the entire experience all the more enjoyable. And who doesn't love a waitress who is exceptional at filling up the coffee when it's just low enough? I love Corner Cafe and will definitely recommend to anyone else traveling to KC! read more

Worse experience and lack of customer service EVER. Ordered a pie on Tuesday for special birthday celebration. Not only did they sell the pie without calling me, but our server last night told us they would have one made today and we showed up to pick up and AGAIN didn't have it. We were part of a group of 8 adults who stopped by the Corner Cafe for dessert tonight (Saturday, April 19) at about 8:30 p.m. We were sorely disappointed in the service we received. Two members of our group ordered coffee, 2 ordered hot tea, and everyone else just wanted water to drink. The waitress brought 4 cups of coffee but no hot tea. Since the coffee was already poured, she offered a cup to one of our party who'd asked for water saying she wouldn't charge her for it. She left and returned with water for tea that was anything but hot. One of our group ordered peach cobbler with ice cream and 2 people ordered the mudslide (brownie with ice cream, nuts, whipped cream, and caramel and chocolate sauce.) The waitress returned and said they were out of ice cream. Cobbler man was fine with no ice cream. The other two were not offered the choice of a brownie with no ice cream - not sure why. Instead, they both opted for a slice of chocolate pie. Our waitress walked across the room and proceeded to bus a table. Everyone else was nearly done with their dessert by now. Finally, she left and returned with 3 slices of chocolate pie. She handed a huge slice of pie to one lady, and handed a tiny slice of pie that had been poorly cut and was missing most of the bottom crust to the other person in our group. He declined it, so she offered him the other tiny slice - clearly she knew there was a problem here. He declined it as well. Oh, and that free coffee - yeah, she charged the lady for it. read more

Took my brother out for Easter breakfast at his favorite place, Corner Cafe in Riverside. WOW!!! What a great bfast. I had the Meat Lovers Omelette with Hash Browns and Homemade Biscuit. My taste buds were lovin' every bite. I don't normally eat hash browns but they looked sooo good that I had to eat them. My omelette was scrumptious and full of meat. And the biscuit was awesome. My husband had the Gringo and said it was delicious and he'll have to order again. My brother had the Big B which includes Biscuits & Gravy. He's my brother so I took a scoop of his gravy. Hey, it's ok, that's what sisters do! Anyway, I'm real picky about my sausage gravy. Corner Cafe gives me a run for my money. In other words, it past the T test. And to top it off we finished with the famously HUGE Cinnamon roll. Awesome! The only disappointing factor was our waitress wasn't the friendliest. Plus I had to ask for a refill on my coffee. My cup was completely empty. A definite no no. I know it was a lot of food but is was Easter, we were all hungry and it was soooo good. I can't wait to go back. read more

In KC for only 4 days and this is my 3rd visit. Great dinner and breakfasts. Haven't tried their lunch but I'm sure that's Devine. Great home style cooking. Fast service. Friendly staff. Breakfasts are inexpensive and very tasty. Haven't been disappointed over anything at all. This is a must stop! Can't wait to come back next year. My husband and I come every weekend to eat because the food is just incomparable, it's amazing. The biggest reason we come though is for the service. After coming in and being seated in Claudia's section, we will never sit elsewhere again. She greeted us as soon as we sat down and got our drinks and made sure my kiddos were taken care of. The entire time, she was prompt...always checking in on us... refilling drinks. Not to mention, she is just so easy to talk and laugh with. Consistent comfort food. It's not the flashiest, the fanciest, or even the best. But you get seated quickly, your food comes quickly, and it's always the same. There's beauty in that. Corner Cafe has pretty good food. It's always fairly bobbing and the food is consistent. The waitstaff is hit or miss (one of the older ladies who works up front is super rude to me every time I go in, but other then that everyone is pretty nice). I totally recommend getting a cinnamon roll to go (and then splitting it with 2 people-they're huge) because they are yummy. Quality food, busy place. read more

I've been going to the Corner Cafe since 1988 and breakfast has always been very good. I alway get biscuits and gravy and have never been disappointed. Today my wife got chicken fried steak and eggs and she was very happy with that. Although she was not thrilled with the coffee. Was really weak. She is quite the coffee snob ( the only reason it didn't get 5 stars ). It always busy even on a Monday at 9:30. Decor is a little cheesy with the farm motifs but alway clean and quick service. If you can afford the calories get a cinnamon roll. You won't be disappointed! read more

I live fairly close and eat at TCC about once a month. Its always been ok. Today,however it was awful! Went in around 2pm and had to wait about 5 min to be seated. Not bc they were full, though. There were several empty tables around us and people waiting to be seated. I ordered the hamburger-- frozen pre made patty. I sent it back. Baked potato was undercooked. Parents had chix fry steak. It was ok they said, but mashed potatoes were mixed with instant and made with water Instead of milk/cream. Gravy, eh. The whole thing was overly seasoned. To me,this was the decline. Keep cutting corners and you'll cut the bottom line as well. This day and age,customers have high expectations for food and this didn't cut it. I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Went to Corner Cafe last night. It was terrible and a total waste of money. Ordered the cod fillet, they were little fish triangles like out of a Van De Kamp box, tasted fishy! My partners fried chicken had flabby skin on it and was so dry he could not eat it. The salad was good, but our waitress literally put it down and came back with the food. We were done in less than 10 minutes with most of the food left on the plate, she just snapped her gum and left the bill. Our party of 6 visited this restaurant for breakfast several weeks ago. The wait was long on a Saturday morning - but we didn't arrive until 10:30 or so. Our fault for going so late. It was definitely worth the wait! The portions were generous and tasty. Everything arrived hot. Our waitress, Michelle, made sure our coffee cups were never empty. She also made us laugh every time she stopped by. Very sweet. Our only regret is that we were too full to try the cinnamon roll that looked delicious! We loved the decor.
