Honestly, this place is worth the wait in line. The line actually goes pretty quick. This was our first stop once we got to Newport early that morning. I am such a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, as long as I am not at a Mexican restaurant. So my goto would be two eggs overeasy, sausage, bacon, some sort of potato side, toast and a side of pancakes, and that's why I ordered The Beast. When somone else at the table gets something different they are always kind enough to share, which what happened at our table that morning The son-in-law order an omelete and I want to say it had salmon in it, and he let me have a piece and it was delishes. Our daughter ordered a sweet breakfast called the Portley's Portuguese French Toast, she liked it. The service was great, fast and efficient. The place is small but it works. They only have one restroom, so you will have to wait for it. I would definintely come back for breakfast.
The food was fresh and tasty. French toasts appetizer it was amazing. Mom had the Lisbon express she loved it.I had the Athena was very good. Service was nice and friendly, a little busy. The place has a homie vibe and I love it. Will be back.
Actually pretty good. We came here to enjoy tennis at the Newport Hall of famed and wanted brunch beforehand They're very, very, very small place. It's very tight. The line goes around the corner. Since it was just the two of us. They moved us ahead and had a seated at the bar which is not my preferred seating. But whatever. Maybe because it was Sunday and brunch hours were prime. California special Benedict. It came with avocado, toast, spinach, roasted vegetables, home fries. I added some pork sausage. It was a lot of food. I couldn't finish it all. I also got a cup of tea. They're tee options are not great. The other complaint I would have is that their bathroom is really insufficient. They have one bathroom for the entire establishment which is not acceptable. They actually have a waitlist for the bathroom. WTF. I get that they're small but they really need to fix that. That's not going to fly when they're very busy, especially during brunch hours. I don't know what their parking situation is but most of it's on the street and on Sunday it's free. Overall I think the price is okay given the quality of the food. All of my food plus my friends was over $60. It's a little bit on the high side if you ask me but given the food was tasty, I'll let it slide. I think if you're in the area you should give it a shot
This restaurant is a must go to if you're in Newport, RI! There's always a line, but it's worth the wait and it moves so fast! The service is the best I've seen! The owner checked on our table and the waiter was so attentive. The ambiance was very comforting. There's a lot of people fit into a small space, but it still feels so spacious. The food is amazing! They give you great portions, it comes out hot, and it's very flavorful. There's a variety of options which makes it so hard to choose from. I wish I could eat here every morning.
Love the food here. I ordered the california Benny. Potato is well season with pepper. Love the poach eggs, with spinach and pepper. Wife got the victoria omlette, which i think is ok, but she loved it. Kids got the French toast and pancake. They both love the food, and pretty much cleaned the plate. We sat in the corner, which is fitting since the name of the restaurant is corner cafe. It is a cute spot, like sitting in a bay window. Service is very attentive.
Great service. Delicious breakfast! This is a very cute place but does get busy but we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. Food came out fast as well and service was wonderful. The breakfast was really good and the potatoes were some of the best I've had in a while. Tried the cowboy scramble but there's a lot of unique options! If you're staying in the area, it's a short walk and worth it !!!
My friend and I were in the area on a weekday to visit the Audrain Automobile Museum and based on some reviews, we decided to have some breakfast here beforehand. It's a cute place, with plenty of parking in the area and about a dozen tables inside. Although it was a busy, the food came out at a good time and the service was good. I decided to have a typical breakfast - potatoes, English muffin, eggs, and bacon with an order of French toast for dessert. I was mostly excited about the potatoes because of what other customers commented; I was pleased with the pesto like flavor they had. The bacon was cooked well, but on the thinner end. The English muffin was grilled with butter, delicious. The French toast was simple, and regular bread was used (instead of the thick bread) so the syrup was able to penetrate through better. I would be happy to come back and try other items since their menu has a lot to offer.
Absolutely incredible Breakfast and service!! Short wait but the food, in-house Cornbeef was amazing. The wait staff were excellent and provided timely service.
What a cute place! Beth was an awesome server who, thankfully, told me to try the Wooten's French Toast with the DELICIOYS, homemade Pecan Maple Butter before using syrup... great advice! I had 2 eggs over easy on the side as well. It is a popular place with delicious and unique food, so expect a line outside. YUMMY!
I did not enjoy my food here, my partner did. I only liked the sausage, I found my french toast to be very dry. I also asked for no bananas and they quite literally hid them under whip cream specifically. Thank God I'm not allergic, they just overpower anything they are in and I tasted them immediately what a terrible thing to do to a customer. The real issue came with checking out. My partner, ask for the checked, she brought it and he immediately handed her his card. She takes it and starts to go but then the table next to us flags her down and she literally stops dead in her tracks to take care of them. Im talking taking full orders, answering questions etc meanwhile we are staring at her in disbelief. We have never had this happen to us in a restaurant. My partner said shes just a bad waitress, I believe it was implicit bias. At least im choosing to believe that over outright prejudice. Everything in her told her she could not leave these white people waiting while she wrapped up a check, but we, the black people absolutely could wait. It was just so bizarre. She was standing there that long with the other table with my partners card and check in hand that at one point she even glanced up because again, we have never experienced service like this and just blatantly held hostage while she tended to people she deemed more important. This was our only experience like this in Newport, we will back to Newport but will not be back here.
absolutely delicious!! i had a party of 6, and i tried 1 bite of what everyone else had, and everything was so good. it was not crowded, it was just my party in there (it was at 4 so not lunch or breakfast rush), so it was very chill. she asked where we wanted to sit and we chose this beautiful corner by the window, it had a comfy bench with pillows and 2 chairs on the other side. i'm dissapointed that i didn't get a burger, it all looked so good!! the wrap was still great though. the woman was very sweet and i loved her! she complimented my outfit as well which made me happy :) this was delicious and such a beautiful and kid friendly area! i'm on vacation, so i'm very sad that i won't be going here again for a while. but if im ever in newport again, i will definitely be going here!!
We heard so much about this place and finally got to try it out! We waited outside for about 10 minutes, and we're seated in a really nice comfy booth. Service was very good, all staff were friendly and kind! The food was decent. Really depends on what you get. The California Benny was delicious, perfectly poached egg, fresh ingredients with peppers and spinach. Home fries are the large potato kind. Do not recommend multigrain French toast with apples.. The mix of ingredients did not gel well at all. But the staff was very kind and gave us our money back! On the other hand, the spice chai latte was delicious! We wanted to come back and get it to go, too bad they do not take to go orders.
Cute atmosphere. Tasty food. Ok coffee. Friendly service. This was the perfect breakfast spot on our trip! Service wasn't amazing (our server was having an off morning) and it was a slow-paced breakfast, but everyone was friendly and it gave our table plenty of time to catch up and visit!
Get there early and we did! 10 minutes before opening time(7:30). We were 3rd group in line. It is off-season or I think it would have been tough getting in but it sure was worth the wait. Corner table at the Corner Cafe was fantastic with views of everyone walking by. The food was excellent. I got eggs, sourdough toast, and some of the best home fries I have ever had. In hindsight I wish I would have added bangers but luckily I got to taste them from one of our table mates and they were scrumptious. Good service as well. We were out in no time because we loved it so and wanted to let the next group come in. If in the area, this is a no brainer if you don't mind a wait or are strategic like us and get there early. read more

Adorable quaint little establishment with street parking and some of the best service I've ever experienced. Breakfast on a cold October morning. Quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere we like. Coffee came out within minutes and the orders were taken. The wait was minimal and every bite of food was bursting with flavor, hot and delicious. The coffee was strong and smooth, and unlike other places, they actually brought enough cream. Our cups were topped off frequently without the need to ask for more. Service was impeccable and friendly. I can't say enough about this little gem. Every aspect of the visit was ideal. read more

The food menu is extensive and so many options for lunch and breakfast. I loved the vegetarian options and it was hard for me to decide what I wanted. There was quite a wait and since they don't take reservations you need to wait outside (this will be hard in the Winter) and you have to have everyone in your party there to be sat. There are plenty of tables inside and they even overflow to the "street patio" a lovely place to sit on a nice New England day. I love that this place is BYOB and they just charge a cork fee when we brought a few bottles of champagne !yay!. Service was great and the food was even better! My meal, I got the home fry fiesta and subbed vegan sausage for regular sausage. Best breakfast that I've had in ages!!! They grilled my bagel just like I like it. We came back a second time and I had the same thing again! The prices can be a little steep for breakfast but their portions are huge, except for the burritos, those I thought were a little skimpy. Overall, and amazing breakfast/brunch place if you are ok with the wait, it's only because it's super popular with tourists and locals alike. Where else can I get a bolo with my meal, yup here! read more

Delish!!! The line outside goes fast to be seated! Cute inside, a little loud, but they seat as many people as they can! Totally worth it. Great lattes, corned beef hash omelette and Benny. Sweetbread French toast with maple pecan butter and California Benny were all amazing! read more

Every time I've gone to the Corner Cafe, I've had a great breakfast! While there's typically a wait to get in (I think I've waited 25 minutes at one point), the food is well worth the wait. Just as a heads-up, they don't take reservations. I've had many of their selections and they never disappoint! I so wish I remembered the name of the dish I shared in the photo, but I believe it was off a specials menu, and I was in Newport a while ago. I've eaten both outside and inside of the restaurant, and it has such a nice vibe. I really enjoy eating outside on the nicer days! One thing worth mentioning is order the coffee! Their iced vanilla and iced hazelnut are the BEST! I'ma big coffee drinker and I think this is some of the best coffee I've ever had truly! read more

Food was delicious & very generous in portion size as well as the coffee cups. Couldn't finish my blueberry pancakes because they were too large for me. Husband had the standard breakfast. Said it was very tasty but also too much food to finish. Ambiance was nice & cozy family feeling. Had a little wait because it was raining, (who wants to go back into the rain after a delicious breakfast ) but no more than maybe 10 minutes if that. Staff was great! Very attentive. Would definitely go back if we're in the area again. read more
Nice little place for breakfast with some good options. Service was good and vibe was very cool. We got seated in one of the corner tables by the window so that was nice to be able to see the people walk by. Could be busy. We put our name in and were seated pretty shortly. Indoor or outdoor seating available. read more

We arrived to a line that was down the block and were almost discouraged but we decided to stay the course. Thankfully we were seated within 30 minutes and it was definitely worth the wait! The outside seating is spacious and on a beautiful day we were happy to enjoy the sunshine. While we were seated we were served by several different employees who consistently kept my coffee cup full and were attentive when I asked for side items. We enjoyed the Lisbon Express and the daily special buffalo chicken omelette with potatoes and gluten free bread. This was hands down our favorite breakfast we had our entire trip (and we were two weeks on the road). read more

Very good food with large portions for breakfast. Efficient and friendly waitstaff. We came around 8:30am, by 9:00 there was a line. The place is cute but a little small. read more
The Corner Cafe is a breakfast favorite around here! It's a small place so we had to wait in line in the middle of winter on a rainy day but they came out and gave us hot chocolate while we were waiting (very thoughtful of them). We waited about 15 minutes for a table for 4. The place is small but very cozy, the server was super kind and accommodating, the food was delicious and came out super fast I was expecting to have a long wait but it was surprisingly quick. The kids had chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries and a side of Nutella. I had a crab cake eggs Benedict that came on top of a multigrain sliced bread they were delicious! My sister had the Wooten's sweetbread french toast and those were served with the most delicious homemade maple pecan butter. The only thing I would improve is the quality of the coffee (we had black coffee) they also have some specialty coffees that look really good. I will be back on my next Newport visit! read more
Yelp reviews did not steer me wrong when searching out a breakfast place in Newport. Corner Cafe has a creative menu offering with something for everyone. I ordered the Cheeky Emma (eggs, pesto, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella) any my husband got the one of the specials (eggs, sweet Potato Hash, bacon, avocado)). Both were fabulous! Service was warm, friendly and with a smile. I would definitely come back here for breakfast again to try another one of the unique offerings. read more

What a find for lunch! Breakfast served all day - hot, delicious, oversized servings are unique and creative in flavor and presentation. Loved the Home Fry Fiesta! Jalapeños add a bold kick! Amazing meal. One that will be remembered. read more
This place is organized chaos with servers/waiters/busboys/hosts constantly weaving through the tables and going inside and out! The Corner Cafe is a pretty small space, but they've managed to squeeze 15ish tables inside and a few tables outside. It's super busy all mornings and they don't take reservations. We came around 10am on a Wednesday and the host said it would be 35-40min wait. We decided to grab coffee down the street and came back 30mins later. When we checked in, the host said he called our name a while ago and that he'd seat us at the next available table. Moral of the story: don't leave. The menu is extensive and everything sounded good! The Luna Breakfast Burrito was just ok, but the potatoes were great and full of flavor! The Wise New York Special was a smoked salmon bagel, and it was delicious! The menus has a Healthy Zone section with lighter options, so my sister got a whole grain pancake with two scrambled egg whites with tomato and feta. Overall, friendly service, wide menu, and solid portion sizes, but there are plenty of other cafes to try if the wait is too long! read more

Found this place on our lighthouse drive in Newport. It was a cute little, looked liked women run restaurant. The service and the food were great but the plate looked a little dirty mostly by the chef touching the food and plate without washing the hands. They had a busy morning with wait time for almost 30 mins. read more

Why go anywhere else???!!! Highest rated breakfast spot on yelp in Newport. Cute little place! Super friendly staff who are busting their butts! And delicious! It was Saturday morning. We pulled up around 8am. Three people who worked there greeted us as we waited for about 3 minutes to put our name in. We had a 5 minute wait. Not bad on such a lovely November day. Luckily thee were a few benches to wait on. We were seated inside. Super cozy atmosphere. I assume it used to be an Irish restaurant (nod to a few Irish dishes on the menu and the old restaurant sign hung proudly near the kitchen) but now has been remodeled to match the seaside city vibe Newport oozes at every turn. As being 7 months pregnant I was so happy to be seated on a soft cushion bench! Thanks corner! The menu.. extensive and unique in so many ways but still offers those favorite breakfast items. I decided upon the Wooten's sweetbread french toast. This decision was made purely on the fact that they were serving it with maple pecan butter. I wanted to taste that! My husband ordered the Irishman omelet. We each ordered a side of bacon. The wait wasn't long. Our meals were delivered and we could tell by the plates we had made a great decision coming to Corner! A minute later another omelet approached our table, my husband received the wrong omelet. They were apologetic and caught us before we got very deep into eating. No worries! The maple pecan butter- SUPER DELICIOUS!!! Heavy, heard to spread but worth tasting! I was not disappointed. You know that side of bacon- I like my bacon extra crispy. This bacon was crisp to perfection! My husband- raved that his meal was delicious! He said they just do things right here. Only issue I had... i guess my server was not from RI as my coffee milk was very dark and too sweet for my liking. But she brought me more milk to cut it and I was happy. The second morning of our stay we ate a block away. We knew going into that establishment we would not be getting food like the Corner Cafe and we were right. It's worth the wait and hard to eat anywhere else when Corner is pushing out such interesting and delicious food! read more
What can I say besides the wait... Every year (3) I've made my way to have breakfast at this great breakfast spot. This cafe isn't the typical or run of the mill restaurant you can tell it's a family affair. Everyone working has a close connection which shows when you walk into the place. Now, the food. I won't bore you with food reviews but tell you that My palette has been filled every time... You can't go wrong with any item on the menu.. ENJOU read more

Corner Cafe is a place any self-respecting foodie cannot miss when visiting Newport. We tried to go on our second to last morning but just driving by I could tell that the line was prohibitively long. We attempted a second time on the following morning, a rainy Thursday at around 10:30am and somehow by the grace of god we were seated IMMEDIATELY. I don't know what I did to deserve this but I think the brunch gods confused me with someone else. We got our coffee orders in straight away before we had a chance to peruse their impressive caffeine menu which was inconspicuously hidden between the condiments. The menu is some next level shit to the point that it is torture to try to make a decision. I was torn between a few of the vegetarian options but I settled on Mi Mi's tacos: blue corn tortillas filled with scrambled eggs, black beans, cheddar, cilantro, and avocado served with salsa and sour cream on the side and home fries. This dish was absolutely delicious EXCEPT for the avocado gently placed on top because it was frankly one of the most disgusting avocados I have ever seen and I can tell you I have busted them open at home after leaving them way too long to ripen more times than I care to admit. Anyone who could see a hand in front of their face could tell this avocado should not be served and I am amazed and very disappointed they felt it was appropriate to serve this. You're welcome to see for yourself in the photos I will include. The adjacent table also ordered avocado and I noticed it was fresh. I've never had avocado envy before but that shit is real. I plucked the disgusting avocado slices from my tacos and after a few spritzes of hot sauce, dug in. The tacos were tasty but I could tell they would have that extra umph with creamy avocado. When our server came over to check in on us, I brought my displeasure with the avocado to her attention and she tried to tell me it was because it was "grilled". No, that's not what it is. Fortunately, she fetched me another sliced avocado half from the kitchen which I was able to enjoy with the latter half of my meal. The home fries were aggressively seasoned which is just the way I like it. I almost choked on the seasoning while breathing during its consumption but that's how you know it's appropriately seasoned. I can see why people lose their shit over this place but again, I can't justify giving this place any more than 3 stars if they are willing to serve anything other than fresh ingredients. read more

The orange juice did not taste fresh squeezed but the chocolate milk was good. Had a hard time deciding between an eggs benedict and french toast, so I liked that I could order a side of hollandaise. The french toast and pancakes were bigger portions than expected but tasted good. read more
I came close to opening time around 7:45 and the establishment was already half full with the outdoor section not available. I sat down inside and ordered the special of crab cake benedict. The egg was perfectly cooked with a savory hollandaise sauce. I was not a fan of the multigrain bread which was much too hard and difficult to cut to enjoy with the benedict. The crab cake tasted fresh and was seasoned beautifully. The house potatoes were seasoned well. The staff were friendly and were quick to serve. By the time I wrapped up, there was a full line waiting outside to dine. read more

Cute cafe in a cute city! We found this based on yelps rating of places yo eat in Newport The cafe was cute with a cozy vibe. Our server was super polite and helpful I ordered the vitamin c drink which was a little too sour for my taste. I also got The Suzy- it's honestly a very mediocre burger. Nothing great but nothing to complain as well. They do have a healthy eats section and they serve breakfast all day. So that's a plus. read more
