Absolutely terrible. The prices are higher than Black Bear or Perkins(Comparable restaurants). I had the onion rings that I said before they were the best in KC. They came out greesy and half done. The meal took 35 minutes to get from the time we placed it. Not from when we sat down. The service was mediocre at best. It is a good thing that we do not live near here. We would probably weigh 300 lbs. The food was excellent, the service superb. I had the Fri night special pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and gravy. For my side dish I had the house made onion rings. Every bite was wonderful. My wife had a vegetable plate with onion rings, mashed potatoes with cream gravy, cooked cabbage, green beans, and coleslaw. Again, everything was excellent, especially the cooked cabbage. We got cinnamon rolls to eat for breakfast. Our server was Corey. She was attentive and provided top notch service. I love love love this place! Any time someone asks where I want to go to dinner, I choose corner cafe. I love their chicken pecan salad & their chicken fried chicken. Rolls come with most of the meals you order and they're fresh and buttery. & their deserts...OMG the best! From their pecan pie to their banana split pie....and my ultimate favorite, their huge cinnamon rolls, which are to die for. Their portions are huge! I can almost never finish my food. It tastes like home cooking but better. They really have the best comfort food in town, in my opinion! Weekends get really busy here, but they're usually pretty quick and the wait isn't long. The waitresses are so nice and take care of you as well as stay on top of your drinks. I have been coming here for years and always have a great experience. After driving for 8+ hours we check into our hotel right next to here. We call in an order of two burgers and two orders of fries and when we get back to our room we had two plane burgers and two very small sides of fries. The burgers tasted like they were from a frozen Patties and they were lacking the lettuce tomato pickles and onion that the menu said came with it. The fries looked like they took one order and split it in half then divided it into two portions they also lacked flavor. Also there was no napkins salt pepper or any other condiments. All this was over $28.00 what a rip off!! I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

If you are looking for good old fashion home cooking with fresh ingredients this may be your spot. It's a great all American diner that does it right. I prefer to sit in the first rooms because the acoustics are better up front. The back room gets extremely noisy. I couldn't hear the person next to me talking. We frequently go on Sundays. You have to get there early if you don't want a long wait. Fortunately, our church gets out at 11:00 so we get ahead of the worst part of the lunch rush. There was about a 20 minute wait, but that's amazing considering we arrived with 16 in our party today. The workers were so polite and didn't get stressed about anything. The only thing this place needs is a little more parking. Their breakfast is great here. I prefer this place over most of the other breakfast diners. read more

Everyone has already said it, place is pretty good. Smells like stepping into a cinnamon roll when you walk in. We had a group of 13 on a Sunday during lunch time. It took about 40 minutes to get a table. That's because of the large group, smaller groups were moving in quickly. Our server was very attentive and our food came out all at once. Everything tasted good and was correct. I had the dinner Cobb salad and it was huge. This seems to be a pretty good place, not a health spot however. We will be back. read more

I have avoided this restaurant based on reviews only. It's so nice to be proven wrong! Food - GOOD! Amount - FANFRICINTASTIC! Price - REASONABLE. Waitstaff - FRIENDLY! I sucker for steak and eggs. They sweeten the appeal by using a Flat Iron steak (best cut of meat for the price, if you aren't grilling with it you are missing out). Okay shameless plug aside, the steak and eggs is 8oz of goodness, paired with 2 eggs of choice, hashbrowns or grits (this is north of the Mason-Dixon line so I don't trust their grits) and toast, may I suggest the sourdough? **NOTE** I will judge you if you put any type of sauce on your steak, although I wish the cooks has seasoned it a bit more. My boy got the short stack (3 buttermilk discs of goodness). They are light, fluffy and oh so tasty! There were missing chocolate chips from an order and she took the order back and had it remade. It was ok and would have been fine but she wanted to make sure it was right. Delicious home-cooked old-fashioned country breakfast! The French Toast was yummy. I always order my eggs over medium and most places bring me over easy. This place got it right! They know what they're doing when it comes to breakfast food. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash. I love it and don't get to have it very often, so I like to order it when I get the chance. Theirs had a slight tangyness which I couldn't quite put my finger on the ingredient, but I really liked it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, very accommodating to our special requests. Adorable place next to our Drury Inn... I'm not a huge cinnamon roll person but the one we got was enough for FOUR of us - and like it just came out of the oven, drenched in icing. Our waitress was outstanding - I got their tenderloin sandwich - absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that I couldn't find one thing on the menu that wasn't fried (I didn't think what I ordered was actually, until I arrived). I ate it anyway and wasn't disappointed but would like a few baked or grilled choices on the menu--although I didn't find out if they would accommodate any requests like that either. Visited this location while in KC on business. Went for lunch. It wasn't what I was expecting. Didn't really have that cafe feel when I walked in. I sat at the counter though and that did change the cafe feel for me. I had the open faced pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes. This was a great lunch time meal. Great pot roast with very little to no fat, mashed potatoes were good, and gravy was also great. This really wasn't "open faced" though as it was more sandwich style but either way it was great. I wouldn't recommend this entree for dinner though as it was not the biggest portion. I am still feeling a little hungry, but I am also a classic over eater so I'm sure I'll be happy I didn't order anything else. Also, I got my meal in less than a minute after ordering. Super service, I was in and out in probably 25 minutes and could have been quicker. read more

I WANT to like this place but not a great review for my dessert TO GO experience. First, it was 7pm and they were OUT of their daily special of chocolate cake. I went there to get a piece to take to someone for her birthday. Then I asked about a piece of cherry pie instead. I ordered two pieces in separate containers (any gift you'd want for yourself is a good gift, right?!). I paid over $10 for two pieces. And I think an entire pie would have been $17. The disappointing part, though, is the tiny size of the piece. The crust was also a little doughy. And if you like being called HUN by someone 3x less your age- then go here. I went to the Corner Cafe with my mom last night. I had a tenderloin sandwich, and banana split pie. I really wanted to eat at Cheddars for chicken and waffles. The sandwich wasn't like Claton's Diner in Oklahoma, but it was good. I still don't like it that they nickle and dime you on sides. I considering ordering waffles, and chicken strips, but I'm not sure it'd be the same, plus that is cost prohibiting at the Corner Cafe. Maybe Corner Cafe should just make chicken and waffles? The service was top notch. The pie: a banana pie with strawberries and canned whipped cream with chocolate syrup was a hit. The sandwich: a large, breaded tenderloin on a too small bun. I added Tabasco sauce. I eat my sandwich plain. For $6.39, I'd order it again, but I still think they nickle and dime you. There's other places around here for tenderloins. One of my favorite places to eat when I'm in town. I ate there twice this week. Once for dinner and it was incredible and PLENTY to eat. The next morning I went back for breakfast. This is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast. The staff are always so friendly and always checking on you. The breakfast was more than I could eat and delicious. The guy at the table next to me has French toast and it looked amazing so I will be trying that on my next trip in town. read more

I really love Corner Cafe. It's made from scratch home cooking comfort food. Their chicken fried steak is my favorite. Their mashed potatoes are real, but this last visit they weren't hot. still delicious though. Sometimes we just drop in to grab a dessert to take home or to take a friend's house. I wish they served homemade apple butter and butter not in plastic single serving containers with their huge delicious rolls, but they have the little diner containers on the table of apple butter, butter and jellies. This place was great!! I am passing through town on my drive west and my hotel recommended it for a hearty breakfast and they were spot on! I could just swim in their biscuits and gravy all day (only served until 11 lol). The staff was super nice and my server Tracy was just the sweetest and most helpful person. I also appreciate how clean it is and how they are taking the COVID dining regulations seriously, requiring Masks and spreading out tables for social distancing. We order carry out here often, and dine in every few months. Unfortunately that may have to stop. When we dined in a few months ago, I found a hair in my food. My plate was taken and I received a new plate, hair free! Yay! Unfortunately we ordered carry out 2 days ago... and when we got home I opened my food and my chicken fried steak was on a thin piece of paper. I always put my food on a plate and when I went to move my chicken fried steak there was a HAIR under it... as well as corn. I didn't even order corn?! One time is a mistake, but twice... NO! In addition the front staff has become extremely rude... even going as far as arguing with customers!
