Turkey Avocado Cobb - just ok - nothing special - on sourdough bread
Linda B.

The food was all right. Good but not great. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich on sourdough. And it was all right, but not great. My friend ordered the roast beef without onions, but he got the onions anyway so that was a bummer! It came with a side salad, which was just OK. Also ordered the pasta which came with bacon and tomatoes, which was pretty decent. Overall, this place was just OK and probably will never come back.

I love the food and prices at Corner Bakery. I ordered the berry cold oatmeal and the ANAHEIM SCRAMBLER which has scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, green onion, cheddar, and avocado. It comes with toast and a side of fruit. The service was not as good as I expected. I will be back for lunch/dinner!

It's in a convenient location to grab a quick bite. The staff were not very friendly though, and the prices were only okay. The food was pretty good though. Chocolate chip cookie and M&M monster cookie were good. We probably wouldn't bother to go back, but might stop for a cookie.

This visit is better. Service was good, food was good. The place is busy but did not wait long. Got the half salad and half soup. The guy apologized for not having crackers. I am glad they have improved their service. In the past service was bad and food subpar but today they did good

Weak dark roast coffee, great customer service, panini was soggy. Plenty of seating to keep warm and plan your day.

Parking: near downtown washington so not much parking. walk to get to places Food:food was decent and like a chain breakfast place. could have had more flavor in the dishes. they were very basic. latte was good and tasted like a treat service: order in line and they bring food to your table. didnt take to long to receive it Ambience: lots of seating and definitely had a busy atmosphere with people coming in and out whether it was to dine in or to go

I've been to two locations and both seem clean and orderl. I arrived a little earlier than I asked for my order to be and it was ready. The salads are usually fresh and crisp Their sandwiches made on fluffy fresh sour dough. Will be back

This place is huge and you can get a breakfast pastry or breakfast cooked to order. I got good service here and the lady even offered fruit salad for the potatoes as a choice for the scramble. Two pieces of multi-grain toast was included. There are lots of good looking breakfast items and some items to share on the go such as brownie bites and chocolate chip cookies. I spied whole cinnamon creme cakes, which look like bundt cakes. A slice is $4 and change so I wonder how much a whole cake would cost. There were also mini bundt cakes for $4.99. There were no price tags for the cakes or signage. One police officer came to get breakfast so it is not as bad as some people make it cause cops can always sniff out good food. The scramble was decent and filled me up with some fuel and I saved the fruit cup for later. There's a drink area and also a counter where you can get condiments. More affordable than the hotel!

Food - I came here for breakfast and ordered the farmers scramble panini, a fruit cup, and some orange juice. Sandwich was good. Service - was ok. But nothing outstanding and my order sat there on their counter and wasn't being called on and i had to check myself and discovered my food was ready Ambiance - twas ok.

Great service for how busy and hectic they get, nice and clean, love how they check up on everyone in the lobby!

Here's the ham/swiss croissant.

Talk about false advertising. Look at the photos of the gorgeous croissant sandwiches when you walk in the door. Then take a look at what you actually receive. It was actually comical.

Most recently went as a party of 4 and got the crab beignets, beef arepa, masa gnocci, and parillada for two. Crab beignets were our favorite - perfectly crispy and great flavor. Masa gnocci was a little overcooked this time but still yummy. Beef arepa is a classic dish to get at the royal; two people can easily share one arepa. Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full. The ivy wrapping the entire exterior of the building is stunning -- it feels like the cafe grew right out of the earth itself. The garden is lush, intentional, and beautiful, and the grapevine patio pulls you in like you've stumbled onto a secret courtyard in the middle of the city. I rode the metro over an hour from Alexandria for this and the exterior alone told me the commute was worth it. The iced coffee delivered. The vibe inside is warm, neighborhood-cozy, and full of character. This place has a soul that most coffee shops spend years trying to manufacture. Four stars instead of five -- and here's my honest feedback with love. The outdoor seating is gorgeous but the trees overhead drop baby spiders constantly. I watched them land on my table, my drink, and my arm more times than I could count. The birds hopping onto tables scavenging for crumbs added to the chaos. For a patio this beautiful, the experience deserves better. The fix is already in the DNA of this place. Weaving lavender, peppermint, chrysanthemums, citronella grass, marigolds, and rosemary throughout the patio would naturally deter spiders and mosquitoes while making the garden even more breathtaking. The fragrance would become part of the experience. Big Bear Cafe is already special. The ivy, the garden, the coffee, the community energy -- it all works. A few intentional additions to the patio and this place is untouchable. I will absolutely be back.

Unlike most other coffee shops, they also have full service for folks who are dining in, so you can order from the QR code on your table instead of at the counter, and they'll bring your order out to you. I visited Bluestone around 4 PM in the afternoon, so it was a bit too late for coffee, but I love that they offer a wide selection of non-coffee drinks. I got their golden latte, which includes turmeric, almond milk, and a few other spices; it feels warm (both literally and figuratively) and is a lovely caffeine-free drink that helps me feel healthy as the weather gets colder. And to counterbalance any potential health benefits I might have gotten from the golden latte, I also got their chocolate chip cookie, which was massive -- almost the size of the plate they served it on. It was a solid cookie, slightly chewy but with a nice crust, although it was a bit lacking in chocolate chips. Bluestone is undoubtedly a rather pricey cafe, but I do love how quiet it is, so I'm sure I'll be making another visit the next time I need to be super productive.

To say, I am disappointed in my experience here is an understatement. I don't normally write review, however, I want to warn others before they waste their money. I went with a friend to support local businesses. We were excited because the reviews were pretty solid. However, once we ordered, we were greatly disappointed. I ordered a Matcha Latte and the servers simply poured milk into a dirty worn out cafeteria plastic cup and dumped matcha powder in it without stirring or blending or adding any flavor. The picture shown below is after I mixed the powder into the milk more. My friend ordered a caramel frappe (not pictured) and the drink lacked caramel. It was simply blended milk and ice. The making of our drinks did not reflect a "cafe" style nor experience. Moreover, the food was below lackluster. The Northern Capital sandwich looked amazing in theory; however, I received one small piece of chicken on a large hoagie roll drenched in mayo with 3 pieces of spinach and a slice of avocado. In my opinion, the portions definitely did not match the price of the sandwich. Furthermore, my friend ordered the Steak & Cheese which came without cheese. After this, my friend and I did not drink the Latte and Frappe. We ate a small portion of the sandwiches to give the restaurant a fair chance, but we were beyond disgusted with the drinks. Therefore, we asked for a refund or the server to re-make them. To which the server laughed in our face with a nasty attitude replying, "Absolutely not!" I absolutely hate to leave a 1-star review on a local restaurant, but I could not go on without warning others to avoid the "cafe" portion of this place if you value your money. Fortunately, we went to a local restaurant nearby afterward to cleanse our palette and thoroughly enjoyed the service and food. More importantly, the prices were comparable to this place but they provided much larger portions and great service.

Ok...They claim to be coffee roasters, but the baristas were not knowledgeable. I was excited to see they offer POUR OVER brewed coffee. I asked what beans they offer, and was told: light, medium and dark. I was expecting single origin options. I asked if they had any single origin beans. Again, I was told, yes, light, medium or dark. I clarified again and asked, do you have Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. He said, yes, that is our medium roast. I really had to pull out this important information. I ordered and he didn't brew it properly. He kept taking long breaks, letting water empty out causing beans to cool below proper extraction temperature. The coffee didn't taste like freshly roasted pour over. It was a big disappointment. We dined in and waited a half hour to get our food and coffee. I ordered the CROISSANT SANDWHICH with eggs, bacon and avocado. It was tasty but very messy and I had to eat with fork and knife. It should be served open face My daughter ordered the FRITTATA WITH ZUCCHINI. She opted for egg white version. It was HUGE! You can easily share this. However it was bland and not very tasty. This was a very expensive breakfast. I had expected much better quality food and coffee for the money. Service was awful. It is quick if you order drip coffee and a premade pastry. Expect to wait if you select made-to-order items.
