Berry & Almond Overnight Oats
Mikei J.

I've been eating at this Corner Bakery location for over 10 years and they also cater the board meetings for my office. Once in a while they may get the order wrong but for the most part I have no complaints. The food is tasty, good portion sizes and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is always clean and in the warmer months they offer a small outdoor seating section. I love the overnight oats and the harvest salad is my favorite item in the restaurant.

I've never been a big fan of Corner Bakery, so it'd been years since I visited one. I prefer Panera, but sadly, there aren't any locations in the loop. But I was in the mood for a salad, so I stopped in during my lunch hour. There were several patrons waiting to pick up their orders, but there was no one in line, so I walked right up to the register. The employee who greeted me was friendly and patient. I ordered the chicken noodle soup (cup) and a caesar salad with chicken. It cost $2 extra for the chicken. The food came out rather quickly and was packaged well. It cost about $16, which seemed a tad expensive for lunch, but it is downtown Chicago, after all. The soup was okay. It didn't have much chicken or much flavor. I ate it, but I wouldn't order it again. The salad portion was very generous, and it tasted pretty good. The chicken was cold, which sucked, but that didn't take away from the flavor. The dressing tasted okay, but it was much too thick. It was more like a spread and less like salad dressing. I took my knife and could spread it across the lettuce like it was butter. Even still, I enjoyed the salad. The salad also came with a very small piece of bread that was fresh. I'll probably give this location another shot during breakfast, or maybe I'll try a different type of salad. The restaurant was clean and very quiet. You could dine in peacefully or maybe work remotely with minimal distractions.

Food was good. Dining room was relatively clean. Bathrooms needed some serious attention in my opinion. They weren't filthy, but they definitely weren't clean. You can see ingrained dirt in the corners and the kids safety seat has visible dirt and grime on it. Yuck! My daughter loved her croissant. I had a lovely iced chai tea latte that I thoroughly enjoyed. My oatmeal was good albeit a little bit bland. Added a little pinch of salt to draw out the flavor and we were back in business. The blueberries tasted sweet and fresh! Hubby was frustrated when he ordered the eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes but it came with fruit instead. The source of his frustration being he wasn't told they were out of potatoes until after the fact (he's not a big fruit fan) and he still felt hungry after eating his meal. However, the manager or owner was much sweeter than the rest of the help and took an interest in our children. Gave my hubby a free cup of coffee. Thanks for that. He could tell we were traveling with our copious amounts of luggage and directed us to a door so we wouldn't have to get tangled up in the revolving door nonsense. We appreciated that. Kids want to come back again next time we find ourselves in Chicago!

Pesto Cavatappi and Cheddar Broccoli Soup

I loved going to Corner Bakery ever since I was a kid who would go eat at the westfield Corner Bakery with my grandparents. The staff are so warm and sweet to me when I step in. Especially this one lady who when I first met there was pregnant, I hope she's well! The food has always been my favorite, the egg, bacon, and cheese panini is my go-to for breakfast and the pesto cavatappi mixed with a side of broccoli cheddar soup is an amazing combo for lunch. I love the aesthetic of all the Corner Bakery's I've been at. All love

This is what she is calling the chicken sausage? When online and what I've had previously????

MYSTERY MEAT WITH A SIDE OF BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Washington & Wells location. To start, I've been here before and had the best breakfast sandwich. Today I ordered the same exact sandwich, however, when I saw it was incorrect I told the cashier. She told me I was WRONG and that what she gave me is the chicken sausage. They didn't give me the correct order, there was no resolution to my problem by offering me WHAT I ORDERED or at least comping it. Truly an awful experience. To have the cashier tell me I'm lying? ABOUT A BREAKFAST SANDWICH? My only reason to posting this is because they are clearly unaware of what they're serving! The cashier argued with me for about 10 minutes about what the sandwich was supposed to look like. I showed her a picture online of what it's supposed to look like and she laughed, "oh that's from online though?". The chicken sausage sandwich does not look like what I was given and the same one I HAD PREVIOUSLY AND IS ONLINE does not look or taste like this. Truly horrible customer service from this one girl. I don't get frustrated with people generally but this experience was unbelievable!

Corner bakery has lazy @$$ people working for them anytime you won't butter a toasted bagel. Unreal!
Jay Ef Jai ..

"Actions speaks louder than words." I asked for an everything bagel, toasted, with butter, yesterday morning at 7:30 am. I was told I could put the butter on myself over by the condiments table. Well, the butter was refrigerated and cold. That means it is not going to spread on a bagel. I asked if they could spread the butter on the bagel for me. Everybody else puts the butter on for me. I explained when they had the pretzel roll ( it is no longer on the menu) I would get it toasted with butter with no problem, all the time. Well, they had a problem with my request and said they wouldn't do it. Keep this in mind, no one was in the store. No one. Their actions illustrates lazy @$$ people.

It was well balanced and perfect. My boyfriend really liked his salmon entree and my friend enjoyed his Cobb Salad. Fantastic cocktails too. Very smooth espresso martini and the Lavender Rita had a nice kick to it. Excellent and attentive service. Beautiful restaurant. Lovely and romantic with the dim lighting. Nice place to go for a date or special occasion. There is an upstairs too. Very spacious venue. I'm so happy my friend suggested this place. It was a very memorable meal and I highly recommend coming here.

It was pretty busy for a Friday evening, and I only had to wait for 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready. I got the pork souvlaki skewers as a bowl. I really liked it, I thought the pork was perfectly charred and the toppings were all fresh and went really well with it. The rice was also fluffy and seasoned well, which is usually my biggest critique of bowl meals. Overall, solid option if you want something fast to go or to enjoy in the store.

Lastly we ordered a side of their Mac n cheese to split between the table which I would recommend. If you're celebrating a birthday they offer a complimentary slice of their hummingbird cake which was honestly the best cake I've had in a while. Our server was so sweet and helpful when ordering! The space is also very romantic with low lighting, a smaller intimate dining room, and stunning art.

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant. Ema, what happened to you?!
