This Corner Bakery located in burbank has a few managers that just don't know how to run a business period. I was surprised that they would hire the same managers back that don't know how to do their jobs or how to run a business. When you're trying to order a meal and they have 4 different cashier locations but only ONE cashier at the register when a few people ahead of me, you would think that any manager would look and open up more registers instead you have to wait for a very long time before they go through each order and paying options which takes forever. I have had to complain so many times to these managers on this issues and they never have offered me a discount or anything for my time of waiting in line. If there is just one or a few people of ahead of you, make sure to clock it because it will take 20mins and longer. When you order the choose 2, the pasta dish will be a very small portion which is only a few bites before its done. When the manager is cooking the meals in the back he will make them extra small portions which I have complained to him so many times to stop doing that. Who wants to pay for a meal and only get a very small portion with only 2 or 3 bites of food? and he is employed and a manager The meal is suppose to come with some bread on the side for free which they always will forget so you have to remind them and will only give you one very small piece of bread, just one little slice of bread, are you that cheap? I love their food but their parking is kind of annoying so I don't come by often, and until last week I never considered just ordering delivery. I've been missing out. I did two of those 2 for $9 deals & I got the Bacon Mac & Cheese, Pesto pasta, Chicken Pomodori, & the Turkey Avocado sandwich (on a baguette). All came hot and were extremely delicious. One of my favorite places to eat, I've been here and multiple other locations and I absolutely love Corner Bakery. I'm writing a review because I was left a wonderful impression from all the staff I encountered. All were so friendly and attentive, my food was fresh and hot and it came to me in a very timely manner! Honestly, im a pretty reasonable person who really doesn't take the extra time to write a review unless it's either really good or really bad. Unfortunately, corner bakery was severely lacking in taste, cleanliness and customer service. Upon ordering, we were given a coaster that vibrates once the order is ready, which was just placed on the counter near us with really no direction so unless you already know there was really no way of knowing the coaster was/is for you. Anyways, we get to our table (my mother, daughter and I) and the table was disgusting. My mom took a napkin, folded it and was able to scrape out gunk and dirt from the center of the table. As a note, if you're going to attach two tables to create one table, have the decency to clean the crease at the center of the table. GROSS! Our food was ready quickly however it was left out on the counter unsupervised where anyone could grab it. I went up, grabbed it and our coffees without any help or even hint as to which of the two was decaf since we'd ordered two different coffees. Long story short, my mother has high blood pressure and she cannot have regular coffee, but alas the employee at the counter had no clue which was which and refused to remake the beverages. To make matters worse, the chicken soup is definitely canned, the macaroni and cheese was tasteless and watery, and the service was atrocious. It's so bad that while eating, my brother called my mother and asked why we came to corner bakery when, in his words, it's disgusting. I mean honestly, is it really a thing to be a cute cafe with mediocre food and rude staff? Me and my husband had a quick lunch at this location , and 3 Ladies were at the front, giggling and no greetings or what at all, but I was busy looking for my rewards on my email, and I admitted to the Lady I was not that high tech and was having a hard time looking for my reward. My favorite Corner Bakery treats: peanut butter chocolate chips cookie (they don't make it anymore) and this crispy thin sliced bread with raisin. I couldn't remember the name but it's sprinkled with sugar on top and it's sold in a bag of maybe 6 slices. Most of my office colleagues are always prompt for lunch breaks and often gone out of the door by the stroke of 12 o'clock high noon, like a Swiss watch with extreme precision. The place incidentally happens to be located right in the corner of San Fernando & Burbank Blvd in Burbank and just a short drive away from the office. It's the first time I've been to this place, so I let them went ahead of me at the counter, as I took some time to read the choices. Then, I just choose the roast beef sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The food was not necessarily spectacular, but it was really good for just less than $10 only. Huh, didn't even realize this was a chain. Anyway, Corner Bakery offers some good breakfast/lunch fare at reasonable prices. I've only eaten at the restaurant once, but have had various vendors provide us breakfast, lunch, or just some pastries and I've enjoyed everything I've had. The cookies are really good, my favorites are chocolate chip and the m&m cookie. The flavor is exactly right. Salads taste fresh and the sandwiches are quite good. The ingredients aren't dry tasting and they don't slather on too much spread. The one time I ate in, I had a panini and it was alright. I didn't write home about it, but I'm mentioning it now so apparently it made a lasting impresssion. I came on a rainy evening for a quick bite before going to a movie and the staff was attentive and I didn't have to wait too long for my food. Breakfasts I've had were also fairly good. Bagels aren't my favorite, but their granola for the yogurt parfaits is amazing. I wouldn't say the food is high quality or trendy, it's standard American let's-eat-and-go type cuisine. Parking can be a bit of a pain as this is in that area of Burbank by IKEA and my spidy-senses tell me that some IKEA shoppers who are too lazy to in the structure park here and shop there... With the minimum parking space they have, you would usually have to wait a while until you can get parking. DON'T PARK AT: IKEA, Chase Bank or else were... you will get your car towed. I've seen people do that and its not good. Otherwise... the atmosphere is clean, yet the seating inside is kind of limited... Kind of a first come, first serve bases. Do note, if being accompenied by a friend or relative... have them tell you want they want (while you stand in line) to order and they find a place to sit. Works out well that way... otherwise your going to get the order number and look like a fool trying to find a table when others have first with standing by friends have first dibs. Finally finding a table and setting your number on the number call locator... they bring your food to you... Remember, if your on a 30-45min. break, I don't recommend you coming here, since they are quite slow in bringing your food and you may be late for work. I do recommend getting their home made potato soup, crispy green salad and or sandwiches (they do have various kinds)... pick and choose wisely... The food here (and at our local one in Valencia) is very good. A good selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, some pasta entrees, and breakfast in the mornings. Everything tastes fresh and of good quality. My favorites are the DC chicken salad, the egg salad with dill, the Uptown turkey sandwich, and the roasted tomato and basil soup. The problem is the service. Always slow, so I always call ahead, which creates more problems. Calls are dropped or left on hold forever (a few of them are probably still on hold somewhere.) Orders are ALWAYS mangled - not sometimes, not often, ALWAYS. So therefore ALWAYS check what they give you THOROUGHLY, or you'll find you've gotten a smear of tuna on a breadstick and a packet of splenda for $16.47. I could eat their Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal every day. For every meal. I have tried to recreate it at home -- after all, it's oatmeal, yogurt, currants, apples, strawberries, and other yummy fruits -- but something about it defies knock-off attempts. It's incredibly satisfying, meaning you don't get that heavy sick feeling that you get after a big plate of pancakes. Several times when I've had it, I've been full and happy for a long time afterward, so much so that I missed lunch (a rare occurrence for me). They serve breakfast until 11am on weekdays and noon on weekends, otherwise I would eat it for practically every meal. The Baked French Toast is also very good, and the people I go with love the Farmer's Scrambler (scrambled eggs with cheese and veggies to spice it up) and the All-American Scrambler (scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes). I've had a few bites of these, so I can vouch for their yummy breakfastness. For some reason, though I could eat the Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal in perpetuity until I die, I'm kind of bored with the sandwiches. I may just have come here too many times in too-rapid succession, but I've tried all the panini and sandwiches that interest me, and now I'm not so keen on them. The Chicken Tortilla Soup (served Sunday through Tuesday) is great, though, as is the Pesto Cavatappi (pasta in delicious cream sauce). Oh, and the D.C. Chicken Salad is incredible. My mother likes to order it as a sandwich, and also as all three parts of a Trio Salad, for leftovers. Once or twice when a friend has ordered the Club Panini (turkey, bacon, cheese, tomatoes on sourdough), the bacon has been a little soft and light, making us wonder if it was cooked? Erg. Still, the reason I probably wore myself out on this place to begin with is that it occupies a special niche in Burbank: it's inexpensive and fits in the space between fast food (In 'N Out) and sit-down restaurants (almost everywhere else on San Fernando). Okay, so if you've ever been to a Panera or WIldflower or Paradise Bakery then you've seen this style restaurant before. But these guy's have something those others don't have. Just like the others, the Sandwich menu is a little pricey. You will pay $8 to $9 for some of them. BUT they have a sub-menu on the sandwiches that's called the "Mom's" sandwiches. They are cheaper, smaller and simpler and are the kind of thing that you might have had in your lunchbox as a kid if you were lucky enough to have parents who did that sort of thing for you once upon a time. These are also about $5. They really brought me back to being six years old again and trading Daniel Flores my Lays potato chips for his Cheetos.
