People get off the lirr train and some and rice and that's their dinner. Whenever there is Chinese holiday the line is outside the store. I came here with the family for a quick lunch. This place feels like a food court to me You order and pay for the food from the different stands downstairs, then takes your food to the dinning area on the second floor. The place was packed when we got there, but it was during the busy lunch hours. But I imagine its crowed all the time. I think its like a fast food place where people would come in and leave as soon as they finished their food. Food being served are pretty simple Chinese dishes. There was a Chinese BBQ stand where they serve the BBQ ducks and pork bellies. We got some steam buns, some dim sum dishes like shrimp dumpling, chicken feet, spring rolls and shumai of course. Overall the dishes were pretty good. The price was very cheap because there are just too many restaurants in Flushing all trying to compete against each other, which is good news to us consumers. I have came here many times and every time I come here I have mixed reviews. This place is like a food hall that servers many different Asian food. This place is usually packed especially durning lunch hours and dinner hour. Right when you enter to your right you can order cooked meat over rice. I have tried aloft all of their hanging meats. I usually get 2 meat over rice. Their fatty roast pork is good but every time I order it they give me the skinny part. Their roast pig and soy sauce chicken is good. Their duck is flavorful but it is usually on the salty side. Their chicken wings and ribs are good but when you order it over rice they only give you 2 and a half wings and 2 -3 ribs which is kinda little in my opinion. Also if you don't huddle to order people will just skip over you so make sure when it's your turn you speak up cause they will just Ignore you. I haven't tried the stand right across so I can't comment on it. Further in to the left you have Sushi. Sushi looks good but if you come around 7 PM they usually discount the sushi to Alamo half price sometimes. Further down in front you have hot food where you can get 4 items with rice and soup or water. Some times they have good selections. The fried fish is good but it is usually soggy. This place is also a hit or miss with their food. All the way in left corner is the dim sum place. This is mediocre. But if you don't want to wait in the restaurant for reseats you can come here to get most of the standard dim sum. But it's a little more pricy. Sug and I finally made the trip here to get our fill and it's incredibly satisfying to get 4 beautiful buns for $5. There was also an a la carte dim sum vender right next to the bun area so we got 8 har gow (shrimp dumplings) for a little over $6. The prices are definitely a reason to come, guys! The buns were very good. They had the perfect ratio of meat/skin/cucumber/scallion/sauce. It's very easy to over sauce buns but they did it right! The har gow was actually fantastically seasoned but they don't clean their shrimp was well as other places so you can still see the dirty vein which some people refuse to eat. The dumping skin was thicker than I was used to and a tad oiler but still a satisfying eat. When you first get to Corner 28, go straight to the back, avoiding the counters on either side. There, you place an order, hand over your money, and take your food upstairs to the dining area. This place is the definition of no frills, so don't expect to be coddled - my friend was scolded for trying to order the duck buns at the cash register instead of the back area. That being said, the duck buns are (ha ha) worth it. When you bite into them, you have the soft, slightly sweet flavor of the bun with the saltiness of the duck. One of my buns had a generous piece of duck skin in it, so it also added a crispy texture as well. The buns are stuffed with scallions as well - for $1.25, this is a steal. I came to check out this place after I saw the Fungbros video on YouTube. First of all they no long serve bao buns. So if you are going there for them, just know that as of 9/9/20 they no longer have them. Instead I ordered 1/2 Peking duck and 1/2 bbq pork ribs. I asked the server to include a small white rice to along with it. The server was very rude and loudly said " you just don't get it" I was confused! So I let it go. And I paid for the food. The line on the right as you enter the door is to order BBQ, the line to the left by the door is for something else, then you pay for these orders in the further back line where the two cashiers are. There is a place in the back that is buffet style for lunch, you order with these ladies and pay them there, there's no cashier. For Peking duck, you have to go all the way in the back left to order and pay. I only came in for the $1 Peking buns, but stood in each line (the BBQ lines) because there weren't enough direction. The area in the back left corner is for Peking duck buns. The Peking duck has already been presliced so it's not crispy, and it's stored in a to go container. The woman just warms the buns, then adds a small piece of duck, some green onions, sauce, and that's it. I recommend being assertive in this area as people will just walk in front of you and order. It's disorganized. Voice what you will like, pay, then go. I was told there was a seating area upstairs, but never went. The Short Version: They charged us more than their online ordering system quoted, sent us the wrong food - containing shrimp, which could have killed a guest at our event, AND only delivered 1/3 of the food we paid for!!! The Long Version: I placed an order, online, for food for an event being held at Flushing Town Hall, just a few blocks from this place. Since it was a big event and I was ordering a lot of dim sum, I placed the order several hours in advance to make sure they wouldn't have trouble filling the large order. I used their online ordering system, "Beyond Menu." We ordered: 9 orders of steamed pork buns 9 orders of steamed chicken buns 6 orders of chives cakes After ordering, I called the restaurant to confirm the order with them, but their English was poor (which is fine - I can't speak Cantonese, so I'm not complaining about that). I had a Chinese-speaking colleague call and confirm the order, the price, and the time it was to be delivered. Fast forward to the event that evening. The dim sum was meant to be for a reception following the concert. When it arrived, the delivery person (who also spoke no English) handed me a receipt for pork buns, chicken buns, and CHIVES AND SHRIMP cakes. I tried to explain that we couldn't serve shrimp due to the possibility of shellfish allergies, but he didn't understand. On top of that, they had charged us $4.50 MORE for BOTH the pork buns AND the chicken buns. So now we've got 1. the wrong food, and 2. the wrong price. I showed him my receipt (I've attached a photo), but he didn't understand that either. I called the restaurant, and they couldn't speak enough English to help me. They told me to call the manager, and gave me a different number. I called THAT number and nobody picked up. I had to call my daytime work colleague and beg her to speak to the deliveryman and the restaurant AND the manager, to get them to fix the issue. After THREE phone calls, they agreed to give me the pork and chicken buns at the price I was quoted online, and they took the chive and shrimp buns back. But after the delivery person left, and I opened the bag, I realized they had only brought 3 PORK AND 3 CHICKEN! It was meant to be 9 of each! So now we've got 1. the wrong food, 2. the wrong price, and 3. they only delivered 1/3 of the food I paid for!!!! My poor colleague had to call AGAIN to tell them to bring the last 2/3 of the order! It took them 45 minutes to deliver the rest of the order, by which time, the concert was over and people were already clearing out of the reception. HERE'S THE MIND BLOWING PART --- WHEN THEY FINALLY DELIVERED THE REST OF THE FOOD, THE CHICKEN BUNS HAD SHRIMP IN THEM!!!! I had to make an announcement warning anyone with a shellfish allergy to please not eat the food, because they could DIE! How do you f-ck up an order THAT badly??? And how do you serve a "chicken" bun that contains shrimp and not mention it??? And HOW DO YOU SEND SHRIMP TO A LOCATION THAT JUST SENT SHRIMP BACK BECAUSE OF AN ALLERGY ISSUE???? Been a loyal customer for a long time. Today I went to purchase half a duck and 1.5lbs of roast pig. They gifted the half pound roast pork (generally excited for this) also their promotion to bring customers in when you spend over a certain amount of money.
