I've been shopping at Cornelius nurseries for 20 years and each seems to be a little different. This one is on the smaller side. They had a good variety of hibiscus. The geraniums for $9.99 did not look fresh and appeared dry and yellowish. They had some interesting petunias. I left after buying plants and felt less satisfied from my usual experience with them so I also stopped by their Voss location today -the geraniums there for $9.99 were gorgeous and colorful and well watered. The staff were so cheerful and helpful and greeting all of us and made a big effort to do so. I happily bought more plants there. Room for improvement at this location. read more

Cornelius Nursery had some awesome sales for Mother's Day. I went here to pick up some plants and was so glad that I had this gem saved under my bookmarks. Instead of picking up some plants, I actually found great buys on some of their fruit trees, which I have been wanting for some time. 50% off of all fruit trees during their Mother's Day sale. I picked out an olive and a cherry tree. Awesome find, considering all other places that we visited did not have as near as a good buy. Will definitely return! read more

Stopped by in hopes to find carnivorous plants. Got lucky with a Venus fly trap and a tropical pitcher plant. Even grabbed a cute little echeveria. I was impressed with the selection of plants. We even saw a little pineapple plant, so cute. All the plants looked very healthy and the staff was very helpful and friendly. read more

A step up from Home Depot and Lowes and just above the red and yellow place. This garden center has good quality plants plus nice succulents and other things garden wise. I like the layout but one must realize wet and muddy isles outside is standard practice in any well maintained gardening center. We have purchased a nice chiminea for a very reasonable amount from this location last year during a special for a great deal$ The vegetables are always in good shape with good selections. Interesting new plants and some unusual items for you to see. Well worth the trip. read more

If you want flowers & bushes, this is the place for you. I was looking for fruits and vegetables. The strawberries and tomatoes looked good. Was sad to see they were attempting to sell a nice vice broccoli and brussel sprouts. Both are winter veggies in this area. They had a tiny section for food gardeners. read more

So glad this opened after the one at Dairy Ashford closed. This is a great place if you want to find something more unique than you will find at the locally named chain. Stopped into the Cornelius Nursery Katy location today just to see what plants were surviving the heat of August. They had plenty that were beautiful. I was trying to decide on what I wanted when Nicholas came over to inquire if I needed any help. He is the nicest, most helpful gentleman. My favorite local nursery. Lots of great plants and fun even to just walk around and look. I've bought veggies and flowers. Most recently I got seven on-sale end-of-the-planting-season peppers. The peppers lasted a long time (despite my benevolent neglect) and produced well. Admittedly, I've never tried to talk to anyone or ask questions, but the people at the checkout were always nice and we got out quickly. read more

They called for Eddie who never showed up after 20 mins of waiting. 8 people in the one line to check out. Tried to ask my question and the 3 people I asked just said they were stockers. Not what they used to be. Save your money. read more

LOVE this nursery! Plants are very healthy and show signs of new growth. I went to buy some blooming annuals for my flower beds. Unlike the other garden centers I went to first, Cornelius had a large variety of blooming annuals and perennials, all nice size and very healthy. I had difficulty making up my mind about which ones I wanted! Many businesses are still ramping up and trying to get back to normal after the Covid Pandemic. I'm sure they will add more employees again as business picks up speed. read more

I was really excited to know that Cornelius (a long time Houston favorite) was coming to Katy. But...it's not "that" Cornelius. Apparently this nursery just bought the rights to the name - and their selection certainly shows that it's not quite the same. Is it a "good" nursery? Certainly by the big box standards but it carries no natives, and their growers do (regardless of what they tell you) often use systemic pesticides. I know this because I gave in and bought some host plants -- and every caterpillar died a painful green death once fed the Cornelius plants. Some of the staff is knowledgeable. Most are not - but for weekly specials and end-of-planting-season discounts, they are a good alternative to the big box stores. read more

We were there today and had the most bizarre experience. I left my husband with some employees to ask about the XL hibiscus, which were out of stock. I went shopping in the shop and when i came out he was still standing and they had just ignored him the whole time. They did not apologize. We had to walk to another lady at the cashier that happily helped us and confirmed they do indeed still carry the XL hibiscus. We are now at Houston Garden Center. I am listening to my husband lecture about customer service is dead. Lol. read more

I am always a fan of Cornelius for their beautiful, healthy-looking plants and helpful staff. This newest Cornelius location just opened. It appears much smaller than the Voss Road location, but they have a nice selection of plants and pottery. Some of their pottery is so beautiful and colorful -- the Delft colors, flowers, etc. Nice addition to the pottery selection. There is a gift/custom florist area inside with a nice choice of gifts. It's decorated very "cutely" for Easter. There is ample parking, ample staff, and easy freeway access. Nice addition to Katy. read more

Gotta' tell you that Katy has been long overdue for a nursery the caliber of Cornelius! Home Depot on Fry Road is the #1 HD garden center in the USA, but with Cornelius combination of healthy plants, incredible customer service, and a beautiful gift shop, it should quickly become a #1 stop for gardeners in Katy. I have bought several plants from the red and yellow store. Good prices (ONLY if you have a coupon!) but what good are they if they die? IMHO, Cornelius has always had better plants that always lived. (Might be my perception, but it seems that way!) Cornelius Nurseries always had the most unique and healthy plants I ever decided to grow. And they endorse the best-kept secret in horticulture: SuperThrive! Eddie and Dino are but two of the Cornelius experts that deserve your attention. They are knowledgable and really eager to share their knowledge. If there were 6 stars, I would give it to this group.
