Plus once I saw they were dog friendly I was more than happy to add this to my weekend errand list since she could tag along. We were greeted as we walked in and asked if we needed help. We weren't looking super hard for anything in particular but did mention I'd like to find butterfly pea, but it wasnt something they had. Not surprising and didn't affect the overall experience. Jared is who came over and helped us and explained a bit about how they care for their plants and what services they offer. And even took down my number in the case he hears about how to get that plant. Told us they hold events there, so I'll have to look into it! I did really like how they had a dedicated room for indoor plants, not alot of places have that. I ended up getting a peace lily for $10 and shes still looking great 2 weeks later. We were also given a jug of their moon juice which we've just started using for most of our plants, excited to see if it does really help out. I wasnt quite sure if theyd be OK with my dog being brought into the indoor plant area or the office area where you go to pay but they held the door open for her and gave her her space. So it set a really good impression. This place is definitely where I'd go if I had my own property and want working with a blank/empty space. Compared to other nurseries you'll find much bigger plants/trees here.

I remember that day not finding what I needed and remembering having driven through this little Korean area a while back in Spring Branch and figured I'd give it a shot. Fast forward to today: I've been coming to Cedar Tree for years. They're a great part of Spring Branch's Korean area and are some of the nicest people you'd ever meet. I can't tell you the last time I went to Beechnut at the Beltway. This part of town is W-A-Y better. Cedar Tree has a wide array of household goods from Asia - primarily Korea - and they're my go-to place for quite a few items. On the right side of the store is a cosmetics counter with a wide array of cosmetics of Asian origin geared toward the ladies. This isn't the stuff you'd find at the counter at Macy's...this is the real deal Asian cosmetics. The rest of the store is dedicated to kitchen and housewares and, in their small space, cram some of the best selection of Asian appliances you'll ever find. This is where I focus my attention. They have a massive selection of high quality rice cookers, water heaters, noodle cookers, and all manner of Asian kitchen appliances. If you're looking for the good stuff, you've found it. They also have a whole aisle of kitchen utensils from Asia as well as plates, cups, and all kinds of stuff. They even sell the Japanese electronic toilet seats! They have everything you'd need to do a full Korean makeover on your household. I've been sending people here for many years and they always take good care of people. The owners (husband/wife) are on site, they speak English very well, and are warm and inviting! You won't be sorry you tried this place!

Depending on your…read moreproject you can shop at the big box stores which provide for your average needs, but if you are doing any kind of private landscaping, gardening or want the exacting standards of quality materials with low environmental impact then local businesses like Nature's Way Resources is the way to go. For this project, I aerated and dethatched part of my front yard and it was in need of a good base layer for the soil to recover; in addition to, landscaping a front patio area. I ordered 1 1/2 Cubic Yard Leaf Mold Compost, 1/2 Yard of Landscaper mix, a few Black-eyed Susan, a Mexican Sage bush and some other pollinators. Due to the time saved from gathering all my materials from this one location saved me $$$ and I was able to complete the project in a weekend. If your need is not as expansive they offer bagged soil for smaller needs, but to get the best value I would partner with a fellow DIYers with pickup trucks and order loose materials or have it delivered on site. Nature's Way Resources also have a big selection of mulch, compost, fertilizers and offer a Green Waste Recycling program. If you read this post to the end, I will let you in on a little secret.....they have a rock garden in the rear where contractors and DIYers dump material not needed and you will find some gems for FREE. All you need to do is sign a liability waiver at the front desk and recommend you have some sturdy steel toe boots, gloves, and watch out for critters.
