I always drive by this place but had never stopped in. Recently got into gardening and wanted to visit a new place so I figured why not. Plus once I saw they were dog friendly I was more than happy to add this to my weekend errand list since she could tag along. We were greeted as we walked in and asked if we needed help. We weren't looking super hard for anything in particular but did mention I'd like to find butterfly pea, but it wasnt something they had. Not surprising and didn't affect the overall experience. Jared is who came over and helped us and explained a bit about how they care for their plants and what services they offer. And even took down my number in the case he hears about how to get that plant. Told us they hold events there, so I'll have to look into it! I did really like how they had a dedicated room for indoor plants, not alot of places have that. I ended up getting a peace lily for $10 and shes still looking great 2 weeks later. We were also given a jug of their moon juice which we've just started using for most of our plants, excited to see if it does really help out. I wasnt quite sure if theyd be OK with my dog being brought into the indoor plant area or the office area where you go to pay but they held the door open for her and gave her her space. So it set a really good impression. This place is definitely where I'd go if I had my own property and want working with a blank/empty space. I bought two Peggy Martin rose bushes from them two years ago and paid $60 each for them. There has never been a single bloom on either bush. I went in to the nursery a few months ago to see what could be done, and they sold me a bag of $50 fertilizer sure to promote blooms. I've been feeding them and other plants in my yard regularly. Other plants are doing really well and blooming, but the Peggy Martins have not even one flower bud on them. They're growing lots of branches, but no blooms. Totally defeats the purpose of buying rose bushes! I've talked to the nursery about it, and they asked me to send photos of the bushes. I did, and have not heard back from them. I also realize that most of their plants are way overpriced. They were selling a camelia bush on a trellis for $500!!! I won't be purchasing anything from them again! read more

Wait... just wait. Ya'll need to hook up with this place if you are anything like me. I love beautiful plants and gardens but I have the high level skill of a plant assassin. I will kill a silk plant and make it look like an accident . Against this backdrop ; we have these amazing folk at Moon Valley Nurseries and their fabulous; already fully grown looking trees. Last year; we bought about 21 trees to line our back perimeter and thankfully; also bought their insurance. Well; I promise it had nothing to do with me, but the freeze came about nine months later, and killed all the trees. I promise this had nothing to do with me . Thankfully; for this special insurance thing that they have, they replaced all of those trees with new ones. Hope they last. Now, if you are ever hesitant about buying insurance on trees, don't be - it is an expensive proposition to replace these trees without insurance. Thankfully we bought insurance and all of our trees were replaced. I also want to tell you about a guy called Charles and his crew. Every time you go to this particular store, I want you to ask for Charles and his crew to be your installation crew. I guess you could call them "planting crew " not installation crew, but its all the same to me. I guess you install the trees into the ground right? If they tell you, Charles is busy, it's probably because he is - he is very efficient, very knowledgeable and his entire crew work beautifully to do an amazing job when they come out to plant /install - dig in ground - whatever!!! I want you to be prepared with a good tip cos they deserve it - they do amazing work. I don't want to hear anyone saying they didn't have cash on them. Go to the ATM the day before. I know you can. If you can afford a Moon Valley Tree; you can afford to be generous. I know I'm saying nice things about these people, but going to visit their location is dangerous ......on the Wallet . In addition to planting our trees in the backyard, they designed and made recommendations for plants in our front yard.They did an incredible job with the hedges and the other plants that they recommended. Fortunately, I have a husband who has a better history with plants than I do , so I think they will be fine. It's amazing having a beautiful front yard and backyard without having to expend effort for which I don't even have skills. Don't forget .... Ask for CHARLES and his crew. I'm sure there are others who are equally good, but Charles is my guy. What can I say? Remember, this is the Katy Freeway location. read more

I purchased 8 Japanese blueberry trees and was not happy with the placement. After two months and talking to Adam, we decided to have them moved. Fernando this time showed up with his crew. He was incredible. You can tell he has been doing this a long time and knows what he's doing, cares and is detailed oriented. Moon valley is much more expensive than other nurseries (personal opinion), but when you have people like Fernando making sure the trees are put in PERFECTLY, it is justified and worth it (to me). You pay for the expertise. If you are very particular, I would make sure to request FERNANDO RODRIGUEZ. He is very friendly and accommodating. The other guy that came the first time to install the trees in did not come close to him and I had to tell Him several times what to do. Adam is also very nice and knowledgeable. I had a great experience at Moon nursery recently. We had a landscapers plan that we wanted to execute ourselves. We were preparing for a party and wanted the new landscaping in by the weekend, so we were in a bit of a time crunch. I went to the nursery who drew the plan to purchase the plants, but the stock was low for the plants I wanted. Feeling frustrated, I stopped by Moon and was greeted by Taylor. She walked the nursery with me and helped me get everything I needed, which was a lot. The plan was for fairly large front yard beds and I needed close to 60 plants. It was a really easy experience. The plants looked healthy and green, they had great inventory and I saved so much time not having to drive all over town. Taylor also helped me stay within my budget. I had a consultation booked twice and they cancelled after and 1 hr before my appointment time . They advertise sales but mark up double the cost on palm trees . They sell their moon juice like it was liquid gold and you should verify everything before you purchase . Think twice and do your research! Beside, why this place only have 5 stars reviews? This is the first time I bought a real tree so I do not know any pricing. I have limited time so did not shop around. I Bought a 7-8 feet noble fir tree at Moon Valley Christmas Trees Nursery and found out later I completely overpaid for it. It's cost $199+ tax there when you can find the same thing at lowe's or HD for $89-100. They also charge $150 for delivery fee if you want to have it deliver. Lesson learn, I would look around for another place first before come here. read more

Wow, wow, wow is all I have to say! In the best way of course. I'm a new home owner who has finally gotten around to planning for landscaping my yard. I had a date scheduled to get the landscaping done, but no plants. So the pressure was on to choose what I wanted. I visited no less than half a dozen nurseries with absolutely no luck. No one to help, no one to ask questions. I ended up feeling super discouraged and in over my head. Then I visited Moon Valley. Andrew Flynn greeted us right away and brought us in to discuss what we wanted. He showed us around, answered questions, and was super informative. He was also conscious of our budget and NEVER pressured us to spend more than we wanted. He also tried to get us the best price possible. Once we decided on a plan he made sure that we were on the same page and felt comfortable with our decisions. I will personally never visit any other nursery for my future plant needs.
