Came by and tried some of the bowls. We had the spicy Thai chicken and rice noodles, bbq ranch chicken rice bowl, Korean bbq pork rice bowl, spicy ginger steak and rice noodle soup bowl, taco bowl, and a kids power plate. The Thai chicken bowl was my favorite and the bbq ranch bowl was also pretty good. The taco bowl was on the plain side in terms of flavor and I didn't love the shredded meat. I only tried the meat in the Korean bowl and it was good. The steak and rice noodle bowl was everyone's least favorite. The meat is tender and good but the overall flavor of it is just kind of strange and not that good. The power bowl was popular mainly because of the mandarin oranges. You can also customize and build your own bowls. For sides, we tried the Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts with bacon, street corn, and curry chicken soup. I didn't like the curry soup but liked the other sides. They also have a wide selection of different beverages. They have a combo option where you can get a regular sized bowl along with a side, soup or beverage. The combo option was enough for us adults that were very hungry. I needed a place to get me a good healthy salad for a 28 day weight loss challenge I was doing at my gym. This place was the perfect place. When I go I always order a build your own, large bowl with romaine lettuce, corn, tomatoes, feta or blue cheese crumbles, two eggs, chicken (sometime buffalo chicken), and greek blue cheese dressing. I've recently stopped eating meat, and one of the staff members (who happened to be a vegetarian) was able to help me make a great meal choice. I had the sriracha ginger tofu & ancient grains, but I was able to sub out the the tofu for the falafel (staff recommendation). It was really good and I didn't feel awful after eating it. I finally was able to make it to Core Life in person and I was not disappointed. I met a friend for lunch, right at noon. The place was packed! There were few tables open and the line was to the door. Signs of a tasty lunch spot! The line did move quickly, and my friend and I snagged a table without a problem. I ordered the chicken cobb salad and subbed the blue cheese dressing to the carrot chili dressing. I love the carrot chili dressing. It's amazing! Before I left, I asked if I could get an extra side of it. They realized I was leaving the restaurant and put it in a drinking cup with a stopper so I could take it to go. When I describe of place this is I tell people it's like a chipotle on crack! On the basis of it being health conscious and is the same made to order style place. But this place needs to be closer to me (not that I wouldn't drive 50 min round trip to get it) I tried this first at the yelp yoga event and couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks! Finally I was in the area and didn't miss the chance to stop in. I got the ranch flank steak bowl and they didn't Brussel sprouts so I got sweet potatoes. O m g they were how do I put this.... THE BOMB!!!!!!! Perfectly cooked and the seasonings were delicious, furthest thing from plain which is kind of what I was assuming it was going to be. This meal will keep me full an entire day and not lethargic like after a trip to qdoba. Best part? 10$ for a very generous portion. After plowing through the chicken rice noodle broth bowl and spicy chicken power bowl (falafel, chicken, wild rice, roasted root veggies, broth, pickled onion, flavor galore, etc), we decide the $5 deal of power bowls for yesterday was too good...we hop back in line and order a second round to pack for our Monday lunch. It's hard to beat the quality (and health) of the ingredients paired with the price point. The staff has been extremely friendly during all of our visits and they even convinced me to download the CoreLife app for special deals---birthday perks, say whatttt!!? I'm quite stingy with downloading new apps to take up space on my phone so this is a pretty big deal, ya'll. Last but certainly not least, I cannot rave enough about their juice/tea offerings. I've had to Steak & Bleu 2 days in a row this week and I love it. My friend who is conscious of the things she puts in her body and RARELY eats out approved this place once I told her the steak was grass fed and their containers are compostable. Lord knows we need more vegetable-forward, health-conscious restaurants in the Midwest. That's why I don't want to dismiss CoreLife Eatery altogether, because what they offer in principle is great. Yes to leafy greens and vegetables filling out your plate. Yes to organic and GMO-free meat. However, I've had two different bowls here (Spicy Thai Chicken & Rice Noodle Bowl and Spicy Chicken and Ancient Grains), and both were overly sauced, to the point that it tasted like I was eating slaw. I don't tend to customize on my first few visits -- I let the restaurant just make the meal the way it's supposed to be made. But next time, I'll customize my order by asking for less sauce, or even a cup of sauce on the side. Or even no sauce, frankly. I like tasting the vegetables and grains, and it's hard to do that with the overly sweet sauce they offer. I'd like to try CoreLife again because maybe those two dishes were just not for me. Many people in the fitness world struggle to find good, healthy yet reasonably priced options that encompasses a wide range of diners, whether its vegan, vegetarian, or your organic meat eater. CoreLife Eatery has options for everyone. I stopped in on their free preview day. Now this in itself is pretty awesome...how often do you get the opportunity to try a new restaurant for free. The choices include salad options with a little grain, grain options that included choices like quinoa and brown rice or Asian rice noodles and finally clear bone broth or regular thick soups. Or, you could make your own creation which base price includes three choices of vegetables and starch and charges per protein. For today's choice my daughter chose a Thai chicken and rice noodles salad with Asian rice noodles and nappa cabbage and other vegetables in a cold not very Thai like creamy dressing. I wasn't too impressed but my daughter loved it. I picked a Beef Ginger Rice noodle soup with Bone broth. The bone broth was not very flavorful, but the extra veggies they let me add made up for the lack of resounding flavor in the broth. Another great addition, organic and made onsite fresh lemonades and teas. So have you ever had Beet Lemonade...umm neither have I...and I'm not a fan of beets!! OMG this lemonade was AWESOME...it still has a beet taste, but it wasn't overwhelming and the lemonade actually balanced out that earthy taste. Going sugar free..no worries there is an awesome selection of green and black tea that are sugar free but still tasty. Not quite sugar free but still want something refreshing try the apple cider green tea. Overall, I did enjoy this experience. I now need to make sure there is no garlic, vinegar or pepper, or lemon in my food and it is soooo hard. The last time we tried to eat here it didn't go as well so didn't think I'd go back, but if you update the app they give you $5. This time I was more prepared to ask questions. I hate making it difficult to eat, but I have to know or I get sick. I got a chicken bowl this time and was able to pick out all safe foods. I had no idea and never thought to ask last time, but there is garlic in the black beans. I also can't have the roasted veggies or potatoes due to seasoning.
