Probably didn't need to be since it was mid week, better safe than sorry. I had the Seafood Risotto and wife had the Scallops. Both were very good, Lemon Drop and the Smoke & Honey cocktails were very good as well. Booth was comfortable. Not extremely busy but like I said it was mid week. Service was very good for us and we liked the look and feel of the place. Will definitely return again in future. Would recommend giving CORE a shot if you're looking for something new. read more

Had a lovely experience here! Wendt Tiana Sunday morning. There's lots of parking outside of the resort which made getting their very easy! Core is on the lower level of the resort when you enter. Service was great, Lisa was wonderful! I ended up getting the avocado toast, and the eggs were perfectly poached! It was a little citrusy for me but if you like that then it's perfect! My fiancé got the truffle legs Benedict and he loved it! The views are spectacular and there are many fun hiking trails nearby that you can go to prior to brunch! read more

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and they made us feel very special. The chef gave us 2 appetizers which were awesome. Special mention to the avocado cactus - it was amazing. My wife had chick but I opted for wagyu NY strip. Both were great but the steak was impressive both in flavor and preparation. This restaurant never ceases to me. While I've been here multiple times for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is the shining star. Their buffet is absolutely outstanding. With made to prepare omelettes, smoked salmon, fresh squeezed, orange juice orange juice, and a in-house pastry chef. While this is clearly not a bargained buffet- we always leave feeling we got our moneys worth. And the service is always impeccable! read more

My husband had inquired why none of the restaurants had shrimp cocktail on the menu & they said "we can do that". Fabulous shrimp cocktail with the best sauce I've ever had! Also you definitely need to try the Mexican Street Corn bisque! Fun presentation & it's SO delicious we get it every time. Chef surprised us at the end of our visit with a cool steam & rocks with chocolates on the rocks. The steam gave the aroma of creosote which was so fun! Portions were small. My "lobster tail" looked more like a fingerling. My wife's salmon was undersized as well. Definitely not worth the prices charged. Service was spotty as well. I had to review Core, a restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain because the food was really beautifully designed and super innovative! We had a three course meal and my partner and I shared a few items so I got to try many dishes off this menu! Here's what I got: 1. Spring Harvest Salad- the cucumber cacao soil was so delicious and the teeny tiny vegetables in the dirt? Just above and beyond with the creativity! 2. Mexican Street Corn Bisque- just wow, such a beautiful corn soup, never had anything like it! 3. House Beet Chitarra- pretty good, unique beet colored noodles 4. Caramel Peanut Cheesecake- tasty and I loved the salted caramel 5. Razz-Chocolate Mousse- show-stopper! This one left me speechless! This review is for breakfast only on Thursday, 12/22/22. We stayed at the Ritz, so we ate breakfast here out of convenience. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. It's expensive (not surprisingly though - it is the Ritz, after all) and the food was okay. The service was stellar. Samarra was our waitress and she took great care of us! It was 50 degrees out and we ate outside. They have heaters. Highly recommend eating outside! The views of the mountains are just gorgeous. I got the Build Your Own Omelet ($30). You can put in any and all fillings listed, for no extra cost. The omelet was huge and tasted fine, but honestly, I've had better on cruises. The hash browns were like a latke and tasted good! The dressing on the greens was a little weird and the greens themselves were bitter. The toast was good. My husband got Egg Any Way ($29). The only difference between that and the BYO Omelet was that it came with 2 eggs and choice of protein. The price was outrageous. For breakfast, I would go out of convenience, but maybe I'd do the buffet next time ($38 normally, but they raise the price for Christmas and New Year's). read more

We absolutely loved our dinner at Core inside the gorgeous Ritz hotel. Walking in, we were met with dim, romantic lighting and wine racks lining the walls. The open kitchen is expansive and lets out all the mouthwatering aromas. Our server was so friendly and wonderful. White asparagus bisque 5/5: Creamy, flavorful, and delicious. Presentation was on point. The soup dish came with the dry ingredients (fried shallots, dill) inside, and our server poured the bisque in so it was nice and hot. White oyster mushrooms 5/5: So tender, chewy, and perfectly seasoned. The best side dish to our ribeye. Ribeye 5/5: A 14oz piece of heaven. It was perfectly cooked to our preference of medium rare. Each bite was tender and flavorful. Great ratio of meat to fat. We also loved the addition of the chipotle aioli on top. I would have only given this a 1 1/2 star if this were an option. The views and service are the only reason that our dinner was somewhat enjoyable because the food was barely mediocre. The food was really disappointing and everything was seasoned with a ton of pepper and tasted similar. Overall I was unimpressed at the menu offering and the food was extremely overpriced for the quality of food that was served. Ambience 5 stars definitely! Our views are amazing sitting looking at the mountains. Place is clean. Service was okay. Our server was slow and it Busy morning for brunch so it's acceptable. Came here for breakfast and initially was turned away at gate but we told the gate keeper we called in and they said it's open for public. So they let us in. I wasn't really impressed with the food. We had the chef's special at the buffet which was some nachos type and eggs benedict with salami not ham. The biscuits were dry and both were cold. The bacon was thick, but dry and chewy. The pastries were dry and not really great kind of like too commercial or those boxed kind you buy at the grocery store. The presentation was beautiful though. Breakfast was $40 plus tip. So we made reservations ahead of time for the chef's selection on New Year's Eve. What an expensive, underwhelming experience, from service staff, to food quality to expense. We had brought a bottle of champagne and asked if we could enjoy it with our meal, understanding the corkage fee, etc. Our server never came back with a response. As two couples, we spent over $1300 on NYE. There was absolutely nothing about this experience that would have even justified spending a third of this. We have been to Core for our anniversary for three years in a row. The food has remained delicious. Tonight's bill was the highest it's ever been for the same dishes we have gotten before. They no longer serve the steak with veggies they are now a la carte in spite of a more than $20 per steak increase from last year. Vegetables are now $16 per side. Our server dropped a large serving spoon on me when they brought our entrees. We each had a drink, we both had the corn chowder to start, we both got rib eyes and one side veggie each, brussel sprouts and asparagus. Dessert was an anniversary freebie. Our bill was around $360.00. The atmosphere was also different than the last two years - I do realize it's a restaurant in a resort but prior years people were at least dressed for dinner and didn't bring tons of screaming young children. Tonight was not a great experience but no fault of Core. Large families, plenty of shorts and t shirts. Definitely not a 28 year anniversary atmosphere. More like a Chilis or Olive Garden on a Friday. When we left we also had to pay for parking - it was never a charge before. It's new fee this past August 2023. So another additional $10 before our valet tip. Next year probably back to Flemings for us. read more

The service was outstanding and it had a nice ambiance. The outdated carpet was reminiscent of a 70's casino but I won't hold that against them. We had two great cocktails from a passionate mixologist that my hat goes off to. The tuna tartare was exceptional with well balanced bites along with a smoky texture of tempura crumbles; well done! The scallops were good, could probably use a little more sear but the flavor was good. I liked the presentation but the parsnips were overcrowding the plate. I loved the flavor and the texture of them but it was a little much in terms of quantity. I liked the idea of the pickled grapes for an acid note. The beurre blanc was a delightful, rich note. The pappardelle was nice and balanced. I had the rib eye which was my least favorite of the meal. Although it was incredibly tender, seasoned nicely, and at the correct medium-rare temp, it lacked in a good Maillard crust. It appeared to be sous vide prepped ( I may be wrong) but wasn't dried properly before putting to the grill/pan/salamander. It had a steamed appearance which left me to believe it was thrown on the grill still wet. It will never get a crust with that much moisture. The chimichuri was nice along with the béarnaise. I'd also recommend a not textured plate for cutting the steak. I'd try to get a little more acid to the béarnaise but it worked well the fries which were well executed. I'd like a little more browning on the mushrooms rather than the steamed finality that they brought. Overall it was good, just slightly lacking. I overheard another diner ask for mussels which weren't on the menu. The diner asked the server to ask the chef if they would accommodate and they did! Well done. I can tell there is some passion in the back of house which goes a long way for me. Front of house did incredible. read more

Came here for New Years dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully prepared our meals were. Staff was friendly, food was excellent. No complaints here. My filet was tender, flavorful and delicious. I subbed out the brussel sprouts for their saguaro yams, which tasted like yams but were glazed in a sweet sauce that went well with my steak. I have dined multiple times at Core this year. I live about ten minutes away so it's a popular go to for a celebratory night . Service has always been top notch. This evening we were celebrating my daughter award she received at school and the staff gave her 5 star treatment . She received some complimentary sparkling cider and a free dessert. The food is always delicious , but the menu does change Depending on the season . I had the roasted chicken meal with mole. Absolutely delicious but it did have a kick . Our server and staff were just amazing so attentive. We had cocktails which were crafted so beautifully, Jalapeño Marg and the Empress Negroni. I was so impressed that the restaurant asked about allergies and accommodated the bread basket for Gluten Free bread. I can't remember the last time I was able to dig into a pre dinner bread experience. Our entrees looked amazing and tasted just as wonder as their appearance and scent. Just delicious. We couldn't leave without trying dessert so we got the GF Mousse Cake and wow... this will be the dessert that I dream about for the rest of the year. My husband and I were so impressed. I was skeptical if this restaurant would be worth a visit due to the unusual price tag showing in the Yelp , which was rather rare in " Tucson restaurant . Upon arriving, we were seated promptly and greeted by the friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous waiter named Aidan , who efficiently served us throughout our dinner. The cocktails were delicious & the wines suggested by the sommelier were excellent. The , appetizers, main courses , & deserts. We loved them all. We stayed at the Ritz for a long weekend and had dinner here one night. I would give this spot one more try, but overall we were not impressed. Service lacked, the restaurant is dated and needs some updating. Food was just OK. BUT there aren't many options in the area (Cayton's was better in our opinion). I will try it again next time we come though. I had the Filet Mignon. It was cooked a perfect medium rare, but lacked much flavor and seasoning. The pees and the pee puree on the side were not super exciting. There was a mis-understanding with the server and he left the potatoes off the dish BUT we didn't get his attention the ENTIRE dinner to ask for the potatoes. That was frustrating. So I just let it go and had some of the mashed potatoes off my husbands plate (those were yummy). I ordered a side of mushrooms (I love mushrooms) and they were still very wet and slimy. Clearly they hadn't cooked all the moisture out of them before serving them...a shame. My husband had the Rib-eye with the hollandaise sauce. This was again just an OK dish. We were a bit underwhelmed with the presentation - it literally looked like a hamburger patty with a slice of American cheese melted on the top. The hollandaise was OK, side veggies just ok, but the mashed potatoes were perfect. I am gluten free and the server reached out to ask about allergies (thus the mix up over the potatoes). I did appreciate the cute little piece of gluten free bread they brought out with my husbands corn bread before the meal. A nice touch. All in all an expensive meal (which we expected) that left us underwhelmed. read more

Last Christmas my husband and I had reservations for the Core Kitchen for the breakfast buffet. When I called this year (middle of November) to book Melissa called me back to say that they were not taking reservations, but they would be serving from 7:00 to noon. We arrived around 9:00 Christmas morning only to be turned around at the gatehouse. We were shocked and disappointed. Now, what do we do? A half hour drive and looking forward to a nice breakfast. My husband knowing how disappointed I was suggested we call Starr Pass, where we have never been. They were serving a breakfast buffet and encouraged us to join them, which we did. Excellent food and we were seated immediately. We will never return to any restaurant at the Ritz Carlton or place guests there. The one star is for helping us discover Starr Pass. read more

During a recent 24 hour get-away to Dove Mountain, my husband and I dined not once, but twice at CORE Kitchen & Wine Bar. (There aren't a ton of options if you want to stay on property, and a couple of the dinner options were closed the night we were there for private group functions). We had dinner there the night we arrived and breakfast there the next morning... Lucky for us, both meals were wonderful. Brianna and Ashley took care of us at dinner on Saturday night and Jordan was our server at breakfast this morning (Sunday). Despite the restaurant being packed during both of our visits, we felt well taken care of. Brianna went out of her way to make conversation with us, answer my husband's random questions about table #s, favorite local restaurants, etc... and of course, we enjoyed the food and drinks during our meals as well. Dinner at CORE starts out with a bread basket filled with incredibly fresh slices of homemade multi-grain bread and cheddar jalapeno corn mini-muffins. I scarfed down one of each and stopped myself from more only because I wanted to save room for what was to come. We shared a house salad, a trout tartar, the bone-in ribeye, and sides of fingerling potatoes and fried cauliflower. I recommend everything unless you're not a fan of Béarnaise sauce -- we now know that we are not. Both the steak and the fingerling potatoes come with said Béarnaise sauce. We ended up scraping off and eating around it, but I'd definitely order it on the side in the future if you're not sure about it. We skipped dessert because we opted to go make our own s'mores onsite at another area of the resort instead. Breakfast offers a large buffet... my husband took advantage of that and enjoyed it. I opted for the egg white veggie frittata and loved it! We also had orange juice and coffee. The mountain views from CORE are fabulous and I recommend sitting outside so you can breathe in the fresh mountain air while you dine. Doesn't fresh mountain air make everything taste better anyways? I had heard positive things about this restaurant, so we decided to dine at the Ritz Carlton resort and not go into the city. I made reservations for 8:30 pm. We were seated immediately at a booth and were served a basket with a variety of breads (my favorite was the jalapeno). We ordered some wine and started out with Crispy Duxbury Oysters, sautéed salsify, braised pancetta and horseradish cream. Perfectly crisp with a unique but tasty flavor. For my main entree I went with the Buffalo Tenderloin, liquid polenta, chorizo & rocket sauté, mesquite noodles and three-Chili Aioli - the buffalo is marinated 3 days in maple syrup and is so tender you can cut it with a butter knife. OMG what a meal! Everything was unique but delicious and so flavorful! We were given a pre dessert of chocolate cheesecake which was not overly sweet and the crust was crisp and such a hit. For our main dessert we tried the Pear & Caramel - caramel cream, pear cake, pear chips, pear Bay leaf foam and pear gel. This was probably my least favorite item of the evening although is was light and was presented beautifully. Our waiter and his assistant were superb - constantly checking in, knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and professional. Overall, one meal I'll never forget. Truly had the most amazing dining experience at CORE. We went for our anniversary dinner and we're treated with top notch service. The ambiance is so nice inside and we had a nice intimate feel with beautiful window views. Our server was so patient and detailed in explaining things to us and did not make us feel rushed at all throughout our entire time. We ordered the Tortolita martini and the maple walnut old fashioned for drinks and both were made to perfection. We started with the scallops which just melted in your mouth and the clementine really set them off! I ordered ricotta and Swiss chard gnudi which wow, the dough used for it and flavors were just amazing. My husband ordered the ribeye which was prepared perfectly and the pairings were fantastic. The blue oyster mushrooms and saguaro glazed yams were perfect! We couldn't leave without dessert! I went with vanilla cheesecake mousse and my husband went with dulce de leche mousse and both were incredible. We have decided this will be our special celebration restaurant now.
