Butternut squash & goat cheese galette - don't miss this!
    Jenna C.

Fell short of expectations. We came for their happy hour but once seated it was not mentioned and we were just given regular menus. I had to ask outright if they were still doing happy hour and he said yes for drinks but didn't say anything about food. Their drink menu is very limited - only 3 whites/roses listed by the glass and they were out of 2 of them ?? Our waiter couldn't have been nicer but he was stretched so thin, I'm not 100% sure but he may have been the only waiter for all the tables on a Saturday night? So yea, service was slow. Interior was cute but not as cute as the pictures make it look online. French music playing, lively ambiance, trendy crowd - not the kind of place I would take family or kids. My favorite part of our meal was the butternut squash & goat cheese galette - just perfection. We also split the duck confit but it was just ok - kind of a small dish for the price. Chocolate tarte dessert was very good. Overall, it was a fine meal but there's too many other great restaurants (and happy hours) in West Loop to venture back.

I love coquette. I love the 70s/french theme. The staff is always welcoming and I love bringing out of towners here because you get a surprise beverage at the end you take with the staff. The food is lovely and rich. I prefer the lighter bites and cocktails. It's also really cool because if you'd like to bar hop after you're right down the street from Fulton Market.

I wish I would have taken pics of the food but I was so hungry and the food was so amazing that I didn't even have a chance. They start by bringing you freshly baked sourdough bread with amazing butter with sea salt. We ordered a salad, the dates appetizer, ravioli (with mushrooms and crispy shallots) , butternut squash galette and the ba vette steak with au poivres. We shared all of the items and it was a perfect amount, with a little to go box. Everything was incredible - with depth of flavors and the perfect temperature. My two favorites were the ravioli (perfect combo of savory, buttery, soft and crunchy, etc.) and the butternut squash galette (perfect crust)! I will definitely be back. The service was great and the ambience is intimate and beautiful.

I made the mistake of coming here after having a heavy and late lunch, so I feel bad that I didn't get to try any of the wonderful sounding appetizers that were on the menu. The color palette inside of the restaurant is uplifting and interesting. I got some fun photos while there. I had the "Bitter? Yes. But So Am I" cocktail and loved it. There were many cocktails from the menu I wanted to try. I ordered the Magret De Canard (aged duck breast) and liked it. The duck was tender and had a nice flavor. I would love to try popular food options like the steak tartare, french onion soup, and Beef Wellington next time.

if you haven't been here, WAKE UP. They have theeee best bar tender! This is a must stop if you're in the area! i asked for espresso and they didn't have any fresh but the bar tender "M" hooked us up with the best espresso martinis anyway! 10/10

Came here with my bestie for our monthly catch up + happy hour. Let me cut right to the chase and let you know that I had a BLAST! 10/10 on the service from both of our bartenders. They were amazing and very friendly. They recommended their fav drinks and they were so tasty and definitely hit the spot. No complaints on the liquor pour at all. The video i attached shows just how beautiful the ambiance is and it's so relaxing. Perfect for a HH after work! Burger was AMAZING and full of flavors that I can't even explain! The bartender explained to us that the chef himself was not allowed to have burgers growing up so he created his own personal version and might I say for some one who didn't eat them all their life he sure did create a masterpiece. The meat was cooked to perfection, their was a smoked taste and the sauces blended oh so well. I wasn't expecting to be given caviar with our champagne but it was such a special touch!

A french spot worthy to showcase in Chicago! Coquette is a whimsical, fun, a funky fresh retro space. With the Barbie opening, this restaurant could serve as the perfect backdrop for a lunch, dinner or drink spot. While it has looks, it came through with taste! There were a couple of HH drink and food specials. I didn't know that their French 75 came with a "bump" with caviar. Bitter, Yes, so am I was also was a well balanced cocktail. The HH burger with chips - amazing. The server told me it was the best burger, I took it with a pinch of salt. I will say, he was right. The burger, so juicy, with a bit of a funk from the cheese was the perfect kind of grease and can give any "best burger" in Chicago a run for that competition. We sat at the bar and Brendan, you can't miss with the barspoon tattoo, was super chill, professional and knowledgeable. He told us a bit of the items on the menu and new and exciting spirits in the bar that will be coming up soon. After all the amazing food/drink and experience, we ask for a rec on dessert, and went with the Apple Tart. It took about 20 minutes, we started wondering if they forgot... and boy, was it worth the wait!! The crust was flaky, buttery with a perfectly baked apple rosette and a side of beautiful ice cream made with fresh herbs - lavender/thyme/rosemary. This is an adult and fancy apple pie and the execution of this bake, it would receive the Paul Hollywood handshake.

Coquette, nestled cozily between Bombala and Expat in the West Loop, was the perfect place to meet with an old foodie friend and catch up. After not being able to find the entrance, I walked into Bombola and a very friendly sous chef ushered me into Coquette through the back. I love walking into a space and it's everything I hoped it would be. And with French restaurants, I expect even more. Coquette, with its stylish decor, warm lighting and chill vibe, was giving the promise of a great time. After my chica and I ordered cocktails---she, the Not Royal but Regal and I, the Bonjour Cassandra-- we immediately launched into an epic 2024 Sex and the City dialogue that caught the attention of the nosy male half of the couple next to us. After politely brushing him off, he continued to ear hustle on our convo, interjecting his unsolicited opinions on our current state of dating. Fuck off homeboy, is what we really wanted to say when his date rolled her eyes and looked disgusted, but we gave our very best and fakest laughs, rudely turned away and obviously lowered our voices. Now, on to the vittles. French food is very simple, yet utterly delicious with rich sauces, vivacious herbs and lotsa butter! We decided to share plates and ordered the lamb merguez stuffed dates, butternut squash ravioles, cauliflower au gratin and the wood-fired salmon. Yes, indeed to everything! Each dish was wonderful, but the standout for me was the salmon...perfect preparation and deliciously seasoned. Our server was friendly, informative and attentive, yet allowed us to engage in the much-needed girl talk we REALLY came for. I wouldn't recommend Coquette for big groups or even a place to bring rowdy kids for dinner, but rather for dates and gal-pals who need to relax and unwind in a sophisticated setting. Can't wait to come back!

I thought I reviewed this and I'm so sorry don't see my review. This place was absolutely wonderful. The ambiance of the whole restaurant and experience of beautiful and tasty food dishes were so great. The service was outstanding! Some friends of mine came here for a friend's bday dinner and we had some great laughs, good photo ops, great food and great drinks. I highly recommend for a good date night or a little group dinner. We also had a little wine tasting with our server Brendan (sorry if I misspelled that). He was absolutely great! The kitchen is open for customers to admirer and enjoy the passion behind the Chefs (literally when you walk into the restaurant you can see the open flames and the chefs doing what they love best, providing great food!).

Love love love this place! It's such a gem. The interior is just perfection, an amazing place for a girls night. Every single corner of this place is perfect. The service was next level. Our waiter knew his stuff about every single dish and drink. Checked on us a bunch and brought us a ton of complimentary items. To start we were greeted with champagne, and a little complimentary cup of cauliflower soup. This soup was sooooo good, I needed a bowl. Next we had bread service with an olive butter which was lovely. We split a few things. We did the foie gras cone (comes with 2) this was very rich but full of so many different flavors. 10/10 would get again. We also did the pomme puree. I will dream about this potatoes, so creamy and buttery. For the main we did the bavette. This was cooked to perfection. For drinks I had the for what it's worth I'm bubbly. It's an amazing apple juice with bubbly. Sooo tasty. They also took us behind the bar and gave us a sample of this! They really went above and beyond. For dessert we had the gateau opera, which was perfect. Again so many different flavors. They brought us complimentary caramels to end the night which was perfect. The staff made this experience amazing. They also mentioned next month they are changing their menu so we can't wait to come back!

Came to Coquette for restaurant week. We were immediately greeted by the host, who first sat us at the sister restaurant's bar, as they were still waiting for a table to open up. (Bambola, the attached sister restaurant, was very nice.) Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try their drinks before we were seated back in Coquette. It's interestingly decorated and reminds me of a circus tent, but it's done well. The waiter, who went by M, was very friendly and explained each dish. We couldn't have asked for a better server as you could tell he really enjoyed his job. The cauliflower soup was flavorful and well balanced. The chicken liver moose was delicious and unique. The steak tartare was creamy, vibrant, and had nice acidity. The beef bourguignon was tender and tasty, but slightly salty. The shrimp dish did seem to lack substance, but overall was still good. Both desserts were great; one was a lemon tart with blueberry sauce on the side and the other was a crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was excellent as the flavors were pronounced and it wasn't too sweet.

This place has lovely decor and a very fun bathroom. Whoever decorated clearly has fun with the theme. Love that they champion pet nats and had a great wine list. Would have loved a more knowledgeable server who was enthusiastic about playing the sommelier. Our server kind of seemed like they hated their life and wanted to be elsewhere. They definitely were not bringing joy to the table or laying on the charm. Food was good. A few dishes were a tad on the salty side for my liking but things had a nice smoky flavor. Really enjoyed the flavor of the shrimp salad which was bright and citrusy and herby with basil.

Made reservations for restaurant week dinner. The restaurant is on the smaller side and consists of one large room and a small bar. The $59 restaurant week deal consists of 4 courses. 1st course - cauliflower soup, which was very good and had a great cauliflower/broccoli flavor 2nd course - steak tartare - really good! Creamy and had a nice consistency, went well with the chips 3rd course - boeuf bourguignon - delicious and hearty. Nice mix of meat and vegetables. The beef definitely stood out because it was extremely tender and flavorful. 4th course - dessert tart - reminded me of key lime pie because of the tart and consistency. Very good. Overall, the food and service were great. My friends ordered some of the other restaurant week options and they all looked delicious. Yes, it was a bit of a wait for the table because of restaurant week, so not going to take off stars because that comes with the territory.

It is definitely unique, creative, and a massive differentiator from any other cocktail bar I've been to. Now, let's talk cocktails! The creativity of the interior extends into the menu. Unlike some places that just make variations of existing classics (except for items specifically so named, like the Old Fashioned or Espresso Martini), all of their cocktails are unique and interesting. Time for a punch card? I ordered the Maximillian the Imposter. While I'm not typically a fan of banana (except for banana bread), I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone, and I wanted to try something 'flaming'. Flaming it was! The preparation of the drink involved a surprising amount of fire. I initially thought this was just for show, but no, this translated into a noticeable smoky flavor. Beyond that, the drink was strong, not overly sweet, and an all-around delight. There was one bartender on the night I was here, and while it was busy, I was still able to get my drink in a reasonable amount of time. I also feel as though they have reasonable prices, especially considering the quality and the market rates. King of Cups gets busy, and for good reason: they are an all-around phenomenal place, from the drinks to the vibe, and everything in between. A guitarist sits somewhere against a brick wall and plays music lightly but energetically. Service is friendly from start to finish and smiles are on everyone's faces. The menu is pretty easy to understand. You can get a three-course meal, or you can get each entree à la carte. You have two fondue candles in front of you, one for the cheese and dessert, and the other for the oil. We chose the three-course meal, and it was delightful. We started with the cheese appetizer. You get a basket of bread and fruit and we chose the seasonal cheese to dip. The oil for our meat was then left to heat, and we received a massive platter of veggies and meats for our main course. We chose the option for all selections of meat and seafood. After trying all the meats, I would opt for the lobster and shrimp. You can also substitute the oil for a broth. I would like to try the broth for next time. In one of the shakers, Gejas makes their own meat spice mix. It's recommended to put on the meats and even the desserts. It's a mix of tangy and savory and was a great compliment to the meal. We then chose the seasonal dessert, a white chocolate with vanilla cookies. Fruit, marshmallows, and churros to dip. We were so full by the time dessert came, but we enjoyed a few bites and took it home. The three-course meal, with five types of meat, came with about 10 pieces of meat. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it truly is, with the apps, veggies, etc, your stomach will be full when you walk out of here. They also start the entire course with a mixed salad (so technically it's a four-course meal). It was very fairly priced, as well. Initially looking at the prices, you may think it's expensive, but it truly is a value with the amount of food they serve. This was rated as most romatic restaurant in Chicago. Its ambiance gives you the romantic feel, the guitarist adds to the atmosphere, and the staff is professional and friendly. This really was a great place and we enjoyed our time and meal.

Not many Michelin starred restaurants can pull that off on a Monday, but Esmé always seems to have energy. This place has become one of our most reliable favorites. They change the menu a few times a year in conjunction with rotating local artists, and the restaurant itself feels more like a refined art gallery than a traditional dining room with white walls, clean lines, simple and elegant. Last night was no exception to their usual excellence. The experience is really anchored by Chris Gerber, a longtime Chicago hospitality pro, and his team. They are flawless. This is true hospitality in every sense of the word. They usually keep two signature dishes, and for good reason. The caviar supplement sounds odd on paper, but in your mouth it is absolute perfection. The cod sounds simple, but it is anything but, rich, decadent, and always one of the highlights. Everything new on this menu was also outstanding. Every course had beautifully balanced sauces that made sense with the dish, and the presentations were creative without being gimmicky or over the top. The plating always ties in with the featured artist in a way that feels thoughtful, not forced. One tip. Be careful when choosing your beverage pairing. We did not read closely enough and ended up with the more inventive pairing that included cocktails and a beer. It was fun, but afterward we wished we had gone with the higher end wine pairing instead. Bottom line. Esmé remains one of the most consistent Michelin starred experiences in Chicago. It is not just very good. It is reliably excellent every single time.

My rating of a 3 is specifically for the Restaurant Week menu though I'll say it definitely didn't…read moreinspire me to come back. I really wanted to like it; this was a nine-year anniversary dinner. Service was really attentive and friendly and I did appreciate that they brought out specific utensils for me as a left-handed person, never saw that before! The restaurant felt a bit bare and sterile, I think I was maybe expecting a little more decor on the table for a Michelin star restaurant. To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. The beef was the most disappointing part, I couldn't even chew through all of it. The add-ons were the best part - pasta was great and our dessert was delicious. But the rest of the meal was unfortunately mediocre. Hoping that others have a different experience with the regular menu!

Chicago Restaurant week. I reviewed various dining options in search of a good place for dinner…read more Reddit gave me some ideas. I'd never been to Willow Room and liked that they had a four course dinner menu, with items I liked. I was able to make a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:15pm. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning. I would dine here again and try a different menu (brunch/lunch), or Happy Hour if they offer it.
