Last year I used Copy Experts for a simple job but found the experience lacking given the unbelievable unpleasantness of the woman at the front counter. I thought I would give them another try ( having worked in customer service I know everyone can have a off moment)....my faith in a second chance was unrewarding. The same woman was there ( a prominent bulbous mole under her nose makes her very recognizable) and presented the same level of rudeness I had recalled. She was initially on a personal call, took her time, was curt when doing my job. and finished the experience by her nasty response to a question remarking that my computer ( purchased a year ago) was "too old" and refused to help complete what was an issue. Obviously having read other reviews this is not an anamaly but just her character. Nobody should have to suffer this treatment, pay for it, or make her think it is okay. read more

Worst experience ever! DO NOT GO THERE! I braved the snow to mail a birthday gift to California. Or at least I tried to. Two people were on line in front of me and one behind with one young man working very slowly. Finally a woman popped her head out from behind the corner and helped someone and then unfortunately it was my turn. I handed her the package and she printed out the label( by the way it was going to be about 36 dollars). I looked and the address was spelled incorrectly. I showed her she had mistyped it and she went to redo it. Then when she comes back is was also mistyped. On the third try I spelled it for her and repeated that it needed to be corrected and she threw the package at me and said she didn't like my attitude. I said I just need it to go to the correct address. She loudly said she had been there all day and was going to lunch and grabbed her purse and coat and left the store with five customers looking on in shock. I stoop there and the guy took my package to complete the transaction and retype the label but informed me it was actually going to cost 48 dollars as she hadn't measured the package correctly! I said to give me back the package and I wanted the name of the woman and to speak to the manager. He said her name was Sophie and she was the manager! I asked for the owners name and he refused to give it to me. I took a cab to the post office and mailed the package and it was still cheaper than COPYEXPERTSNYC and person at the post office was lovely. Never go there! read more

I came in person the first time asking for a quote for a brochure that I needed 100 color copies of. The original person that I spoke to was really nice and gave a great discount on what I was asking for. I told him that I would come again. That was a few months ago. I called again today with my boss and told her about my previous experience and what we were looking for. Once I told the woman about our quote on the phone, she nearly went ballistic. She was so incredibly rude over the phone and nobody in customer service had ever acted this way toward me. I was honestly appalled. Maybe there was a miscommunication between the first employee and me. That happens, but there was no need for all of the unnecessary attitude that I was getting over the phone. Something very wrong is afoot here. I used them for decades, with mixed reviews. But yesterday I was in line behind a senior citizen who was sending a letter by fed ex. The employee made a personal phone call before helping him, made him and the line wait 15 minutes, then let him know the price for a letter would be well over $100 and it would take 4 days. I rarely leave reviews but after my experience I felt it was important to let others know. I used copy experts for prints for my fathers memorial service. The team was incredibly rude. I asked for prints on posterboard, they charged me over $30 per 18 x 24" and they were just on regular paper. When I asked for proofs, the owner, Sophie told me it was a ridiculous request and refused. Of course the prints came out less than satisfactory and it was an extra $40 PER PRINT to put on poster board - we did it ourself for an extra $15. We also got prayer cards of my father printed and they came out on flimsy paper and were poorly cut. Seriously? For over $200? I could forgive the quality, but for the price and the incredibly poor customer service (speaking poorly about me while I could clearly hear them on the phone) in the midst of planning a memorial service for my father, this was just not OK. Look elsewhere, there are plenty of capable print shops in NYC. read more

Do not use them. They are rude and abusive. They refused to put paper for 11X16 in the Xerox machine, then told me the machine was out of order unless I used 8X10! Then refused to use the other machines! The store was empty with 3 workers doing nothing. They then threatened me. Staples and FedEx close by are helpful and cheaper. No excuse for threats and abuse. The disrespect and horrific way they abuse customers is in many reviews but I didn't believe them. Now I do!. Unbelievable but true. Horrible. read more

I had my thick textbook divided into three sections and re-bound. They charge a ridiculous amount, told me an incorrect price initially, then raised the price after cutting my book and before binding it so I had no choice but paying for the higher price. I thought they would at least do a decent job because it was so pricey - but now the pages are falling off the binding because they cut so close to the binding spring! They made my textbook into a garbage! Please avoid this place if you want a book that actually is kept as a whole piece. I would give this place zero star. What a waste of money. read more

HORRIFIC! I paid an enormous amount of money for special dissertation paper only to have it ruined at this store - TWICE! The first time was my fault I guess - I gave them a word document instead of a pdf (although he could have told me ahead of time that word documents don't print correctly). The second time the printer kept jamming in the machine and printed bent and crumpled pieces of paper. Unbelievably sloppy job. Two copies the staff member messed up and tried to charge me for it. This was a document that was very important and 160 pages long. Absolutely a disaster of a printing shop. Furious at their incompetence!! read more

I used their online printing service to print 1,000 pamphlets. They charged me more than the price that the website advertised (there's supposed to be a discount for bulk orders), and charged per side instead of per page (which the website was vague about), which doubled the cost. But what really bothers me is that instead of just printing to 8x11 paper, they printed to larger sheets and hand-cut the copies down to size, only the cuts were a bit sloppy. So when I folded the pamphlets, they didn't all have the right margins, and some were totally off. Not recommended. read more

Boycott this business. I had been going there for 20 years--since it opened probably--mostly for small photo printing jobs--have seen the owner SOPHIE act very rudely to her employees--always younger men-- and today had the most horrific exchange with one of the (newer?) male employees who just refused to listen clearly to what I was asking for. After fighting w me, I said, "What a shame... we're arguing over a couple of photo prints? really?" He said, "A shame?! You're a shame!" I quietly asked the other guy if I could see the owner/manager, who I've known and had normal interactions with for years--big mistake. She came out, and started calling me out, by my first name, like a friend (!)-- and saying I've been asking for ridiculous things and causing trouble for years. Yes, that's right--saying this in front of other customers. She then intimated I didn't understand the guy, as in "what, you're harasing him because he doesn't speak "good English?" She's French, btw, and her guys are almost always Mid-Eastern or Arab. I said, "Are you now actually accusing me of a racial thing?!? Oh my god--I will never return to this store, after 20 years of giving you my business." She said "Good we, don't need your business." Please Do Not Go There. She needs to be put out of business and into therapy, and I hate saying that about another woman. read more

Horrible! Somehow bought 2 vouchers instead of one for passport photos. Upon arrival they said printed vouchers are not accepted and was told that it says in small print that can be redeemed by app only, how else he repeatable explained they are able to keep track of what is redeemed. The vouchers clearly says print and bring or use mobile app. Finally vouchers were accepted, they took a quick snapshot without even a second warning to smile. They then warned me vouchers are for new clients only. I told them not to worry I will not be coming back. My previous passport photo was taken at the post office and it was great. The post office lady had the patience for my baby and even offered to take it again to get a smile when she missed it the first time. read more

I would give this place "0" stars if possible. I walked in today to get a document printed in color. There was a misunderstanding with one of my document and while I was discussing the situation with the male staff member, an extremely rude and hostile female staff member began yelling at me from behind the counter. Her exact words were "Get out of here, LEAVE! WE DON'T WANT TO PRINT ANOTHER DOCUMENT FOR YOU EVER AGAIN. DON'T SEND US ANY OF YOUR SHIT!" Not sure who she was (or if she was even an employee) but my hypothesis maybe she was drunk...either way, the male staff member looked embarrassed but just let her carry on in her rude and hostile state. Absurdly expensive. I got something printed and bound here and they only told me the binding price and not the printing price and surprised me in the end with a bill for almost $100. Double-sided printing wasn't any cheaper than single-sided printing, even though I was using less of their paper, and it was printed b/w. The clerk brought the bag out tonight with a price tag of $27.75, then punched in a higher price on the computer, saying it must have been a "mistake." I purchased a $20 voucher at Copy Experts via Yelp and went to the store to make a purchase and use the voucher. The store would not honor the voucher because the employees who were working there did not know what to do with the voucher. They said they had never heard of the deal before. I showed them the Copy Experts page on Yelp where the deal is currently being offered but they said they did not know how to process the deal. This is not a review about the employees - instead it is directed towards the owner. If your business is participating in a deal on Yelp, you need to train all of your employees on how to allow customers to redeem the deal. It is extremely frustrating for a customer to purchase a deal and then be told they can't use it. Do better. read more

Just shipped a package from there. For a FedEx ground package headed to the Midwest, I was quoted $25. Though the price struck me as high, I didn't want to delay the arrival my Mother's Day gift so I approved the amount and completed the transaction. I went home and confirmed on the FedEx site that the amount should have been what I suspected, $15. When I went back to Copy Experts the woman in charge shrugged her shoulders and said, "What do want me to do about it, the package is gone. You should have dealt with FedEx directly." Heed her advise. Go to fedex.com, complete your transaction online & print your shipping label. Drop off anywhere, including them. This is a nice neighborhood copy place. :) I highly recommend it! They have computers to do your own printing, self-service copy areas, and FedEx drop-off. It's also pretty inexpensive, although I think the computers are minimum $3 (15 minutes). They also do custom print jobs but I haven't gotten anything done there so I can't speak to that. Also - they're on 91st and Broadway, around the corner (on 91st street between Broadway and Amsterdam).
