It's okay with me that this place is perhaps not the cheapest in the neighborhood, not the prettiest either per se, but nevertheless not crazy expensive either, considering the quality. A great selection of frames. You can rest assured that once your art is hanging on your wall that it has been taken care of the right way, the first time around. And doesn't that feel great? I needed two more artworks stretched on canvas, after I had my first artwork framed. The artist referred his friend to me for this specific occasion. Anyhow that framing guy came to my place to pick up the art, and he too was very impressed with the framed piece that was already hanging on my wall. So there you go: Your decision has officially been made. You found a good place that delivers quality products at reasonable prices. Just drop your art off here and move on with your day in peace. You'll have it back within a week tops. In my case, the owner was so kind to even drop it off at my studio once it was finished.

No wonder Wade Maxx has been on the Upper West Side for 25 years and still standing!…read more A dear friend gave me a good-sized and bright colored painting auctioned from Christie's. The spot where it sits most appropriately in my place is near almost floor to ceiling windows where it may be susceptible to sun damage. I read from various research sources that one solution could be to spray UV protection on the painting itself. When I asked various frame shops on the Upper West Side quotes for doing the spraying work - all they asked were the dimensions of the painting and said they'll charge by surface size covered. When I walked into Wade Maxx, I was at first shocked that they "didn't want my business"!!! The obvious art lover and expert of a consultant immediately advised me against using drastic measures such as spraying UV protection - which could damage the integrity of the painting and the canvas it sits on, he warned - and shared other methods of maintaining the quality of the painting instead, which would cost me nothing (but Wade Maxx's own cash receipts for this potential transaction). Needless to say, anytime since then that I've needed custom framing or been looking for art to buy or just general advice on artwork collection and maintenance, I've gone back to Wade Maxx! And, I'm happy to tell all my friends - you can't beat the integrity, knowledge and goodwill of these guys.
