This ups gets packed no matter what time you come. They usually only have one person working and while they're really nice, they're def overworked and you have to be very patient when coming here. read more

Went to ship a parcel today. They have no UPS shipping supplies which is astounding for a UPS location. The person working at the counter said I can buy an envelope (cost $3.00), with a rude and condescending attitude. This is not my first time at this location and it's the same every time. What kind and wonderful service! I walked here even though a closer UPS store is a min away - their degree of service is that good! Needing a document notarized, I discovered none of my bank's branches provides it! There was a short line when I got to UPS Store but it moved fast and it took all of a minute -and cost only $2- to finish my transaction! Not only that, but they were super sweet with my small sausage dog AND when I left my wallet on the counter, the female employee on duty ran outside to return it. Above and beyond! Just had truly the worst customer service experience at this location. I had a package delivered here, received a notice that it had been delivered yesterday. When I went to pick it up today, the clerks looked for 10 minutes before calling their manager because they couldn't find it. The manager, Carl, proceeded to tell me it had been sitting there for a week (according to tracking, it hadn't) and he sent it back the day before. He spoke down to me with such condescension, I was taken aback. He even told me that I must be confused and called me sweetheart. I just walked out of here and had to pull up Yelp before even heading home. Rhondalisa just helped me, and guys, I have just had the most positive experience I've ever had sending mail (weird thing to say?). The store was super busy and she had it all under control, and was friendly, helpful, patient, and generous with her time. Updating my review after an employee has tried to call me a liar. I wish Bradley would have reached out to me before claiming that I wasn't being truthful. I have emails and tracking info which supports my claim. I would avoid doing business with this location which clearly has no issues lying. I recommend walking a couple blocks to the UPS store on 91st and Broadway. Here's the entire timeline in case Bradley wants to go over his notes. UPS tried to deliver the package to me on 7/2 while I wasn't home. UPS then dropped the package off at this store on 7/3. Per UPS policy packages are supposed to be returned to sender after 7 days which would be 7/10, however it wasn't returned. On 7/19 I initiated a return to sender on the package through UPS and have a confirmation email but still the package sat there. On 7/25 I contacted UPS again and had them initiate another return to sender but it still didn't get sent back. Finally on 7/31 I went to the store to pick up the package because it was obvious this UPS store wasn't capable of getting the package returned. I'm sorry I was so friendly when picking up the package. In the future I'll try to be meaner and make the employees life hell even though they may have had nothing to do with my package not being returned. read more

Only use this store to drop off prepaid, prepackaged UPS packages. They are always a mess, and they charged $2 to print a single page in black & white! Copydoor 86, diagonally across the intersection, charged me $0.50 and is a much better option for printing services. FYI, this location does not offer notary services, despite the yelp tag. Of all the UPS stores around the city, this is one of my favorite ones. In fact, there's one closer to where I live but I'll walk the extra few blocks for this location because the guy behind the counter does a great job of getting customers in and out in record time. Most of the time, I'm coming to drop off a prepaid package and he will multi task while he's helping someone else out to take my package and give me a receipt quickly. It's effortless because he's always watching who is coming and going and what their needs are. In my opinion, employees like this can make or break an experience. Every other location makes you wait in line while someone is filling it paperwork, taking double the time to get out. I'm here on a weekly basis and have never had an item lost or delayed (fingers crossed!). Absolutely also prefer UPS over Fedex is most cases as well :) read more

TLDR; If you have any important documents to overnight, such as for business or school registration or anything like that, DO NOT use UPS Next Day Air and especially do not do anything through the 86th St location. ----- Full story: My friend & I paid $55 to get a document shipped by Next Day Air from NYC to Philly from a Friday to Saturday. By Saturday evening, it was not delivered so we called the Philly UPS and they told us drivers had gone home for the weekend and it wouldn't be delivered until after Sunday. We said we need the document back, and so the Philly UPS person said they'd put it on a hold and return it to NYC and it would likely arrive on Wednesday. Fine. Sucks but shit happens on long weekends. On Monday, we find out that the document has been delivered in Philly, even though we specifically spoke to someone about the hold and return to NYC. Now our document is stuck there, after the person we aimed to deliver it to on Saturday left. Shit happens, yet again. BUT THEN, my friend & I get in contact with this branch manager from which we sent the document, asking for a refund - seems simple enough, right? We paid for overnight delivery, it didn't arrive overnight. We asked for return on their mistake, they didn't complete that either. Any decent company would give us a refund AND credit. Instead, the manager of the 86th store, Israel, keeps my friend and I alternately on hold for an hour at a time, berates me for "telling him the wrong story" when I explain my friend called earlier and I don't know what she said word-for-word, and basically accuses me of purposefully misleading him. He claims we said it was delivered to the wrong address (we clearly said it was delivered to the *wrong person* at the same address, because our desired person had left before the late delivery!!). When I went into the store to talk to him in person, I say "can I explain what happened on Saturday?" and he literally says "no." Who says that?? My friend also spoke to someone at the UWS location on the phone on Sunday and he said he would "write a note and put it in the system" and on Monday on the phone Israel yelled at her and said "they don't have a note system." Something is messed up with their whole operation. He treated me like a child on the phone and wouldn't let me talk, interrupting me to say "No. I only want to hear an answer to the yes or no question I'm asking you." Which didn't even make any sense in our conversation. On the phone, he also had the gall to say that they won't process my refund because the package was delivered "in a timely manner." Are you ****ing kidding me? On the most basic level, I paid for it to arrive on Saturday and it arrived on Monday. When I was in the store, he also had the gall to say "I'm here to help you" -- after saying "No, I don't want to hear it" to my explanation of what I paid for!! At this point, he said he's waiting for UPS to give him the "real story" about what happened and that my refund may or may not be processed. I don't even care about the $55 anymore. It's embarrassing and frustrating to be treated like a liar, with such disrespect - as a customer who literally paid for something that was promised to me that UPS did not deliver. Maybe Israel was so accommodating to Clifford below because he's a man and not a young woman. I can't imagine him yelling at anyone else this way and questioning a customer's version of events when the failed UPS results are so clear. Disgusting. read more

I strolled into this store earlier today to ship a small 10oz padded envelope. After waiting in a small queue a very friendly young man greeted me and was attitude free -- no complaints there. I told him I just wanted regular ground shipping as the package in no rush to it's destination. He then proceeded to enter the shipping information and affixed the label to the envelope. Smooth sailing so far -- then came the dreadful moment: " That will be $10.85 sir " he said. Yes, $10.85 to ship a small 10oz 4x4 envelope by 6-8 day ground shipping. Robbery ! Yes, yes I should've asked the price beforehand but I didn't expect it to be so expensive. I painfully swiped my credit card and signed my name in disgust. I've since learned that UPS stores operate independently and franchisees implement heavy markups. You're better off going to UPS.com, printing out a label and then just dropping it off at an UPS store or going to your local post office where you can get flat rate priority shipping(2-3 days) for way cheaper. In my case, it would've been $5.20 envelope included. Never again. read more

BEWARE! This place is fine if you are just shipping returns to vendors and stuff like that. But don't try shipping anything fragile or valuable. when an item I sent was damaged (probably by UPS driver) they refused to honor their promise of $100 insurance plus refund. They claimed it was my fault. Then when I documented the packaging they relented and sent the $100 - but no refund. And when I got my credit card company to dispute the shipping cost (nearly $100), they put a stop on the check!! THEY DON'T SEEM TO GIVE A DA*M ABOUT ANYTHINg BUT MAXIMIZING THEIR PROFITS _ CUSTOMERS CAN GO F** THEMSELVES!!! I WILL NEVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN (AND I WAS ONCE A VERY REGULAR CUSTOMER). read more

I went in to this location around 7:45pm to send a small package overnight to California. I was 15 minutes late for the cut-off time and the driver had already left with the day's haul. The new manager, Israel, actually called the driver to see if he'd return for mine and he did! Above and beyond the call of duty and he was very nice and efficient. The only downside was that the door was stuck. I usually HATE going to the UPS store due to inconsistencies between locations and horribly draconian policies put in place by each individual "store owner". This place is fast, friendly, and actually accepts pre-paid UPS shipments like some other stores won't (even though "corporate" says they have to!). read more

I had a small package of 2 CDs to mail out from zip code 10024 (NY) to 08244 (NJ). I'd sent out the same package two weeks ago via US mail to the same buyer, so I knew the Post Office price ($2.70 via media mail, $3 and change going first-class). I thought I'd stop in at the UPS store on West 86th Street , which is on the way to the Post Office, and do a price comparison. Imagine my surprise when I was told same package would cost $11.77 to send - more than 4 times the price of the Post Office!!! How do you explain that? No matter that the gentleman helping me was very nice - it was a complete rip-off. Obviously I walked out of there and went to went to Post Office which was 5 minutes away. Who could recommend a place like this? Save your money and walk a few more blocks south to the Post Office. read more

I'm pretty annoyed at the customer service and lack of communication at this store. I have always stayed on line and never cut. A long line was developing outside and I witnessed two people that I assumed while cutting the line go in. One of the people just walked in and dropped off a package. I asked other customers if just drop offs are ok and if I can do it since it seemed to me I didn't have to stay on line. Everyone said it should be fine. I did not even walk through the door when the woman clerk told me 1 second and no. So I went back on line as the 2nd person waiting. She comes out with an attitude and says you are rude, rolls her eyes at me, doesn't speak to me like a human being and brings the next person in. When it was my turn to go inside the male clerk helped me and I explained to him the problem and that I assumed ppl can just walk in and drop off and that I was not trying to cut the line at all. He explained to me that although they don't have a sign outside the door that people are allowed to drop off and the guy everyone thought was cutting the line was actually an employee not in uniform and the other person was waiting on line just not on the actual line she was waiting in her van while everyone else was waiting outside. She was even upset () because someone who was waiting didn't know she was waiting in the van she went ahead of her. I told her next time wait on line. Anyways the male clerk was very nice about it and apologized for the confusion. And I apologized as well but the female clerk did not and perhaps this would be a good time to learn some customer service and better communication. read more

I am surprised by the bad reviews of this place. Five years ago, a few days after Superstorm Sandy destroyed our home, I walked in here for the first time- to buy bubblewrap to try and save whatever remnants we could. The young man who waited on me was the kindest, sweetest person on this planet -- he saw my distress and could not have been more supportive and helpful. Since then we have relied upon UPS for many shipments and they have never failed us. Just a few days ago my husband and I I were back there, this time shipping a box to my daughter in Buffalo. The person who helped us (I believe his name was Carl) could not have been nicer or more efficient. He went out of his way to help us and was patient with everyone on the line before us. read more

I'm hopeful that the owner (Bradley K.) reads this review and contacts me as I am extremely upset with this establishment. I went to this UPS Store today around noon with a framed painting (about 3' x 4') to have packed and shipped to a relative in Boca Raton, Florida. One customer was already in the store being helped when I arrived; one employee was present (Miguel). After a 5-minute wait, I handed Miguel the painting to be packed and shipped and provided the recipient's address. Miguel said the cost was $168.55. I expressed dismay and surprise at such a high price and asked for a breakdown. Miguel provided some information to me by reading from his computer screen, but all I could readily discern is that I was being charged $2 per extra $100 of insurance. I requested $400 in additional insurance, so that would have been only $8 out of the $168.55! After I reluctantly said yes, assuming I would walk out of the store with a itemized receipt, Miguel handed me what looked like a shipping label to be affixed to the package and asked me to sign at the bottom. He told me to make sure the address on the label was correct, which I did. I reviewed the address, found a mistake, and signed a corrected label that Miguel provided. I looked at what I was signing to see if it contained an itemized breakdown of what I was purchasing, but only saw a couple of high-level numbers. I then swiped my credit card and was given a credit card or cash register-type receipt. There were two line items on the receipt, plus tax. No delivery address. No expected day of delivery. No reference to how much insurance. No breakdown of cost of the box, packing, handling charge, etc. I asked Miguel for an itemized receipt, something that showed how we got to $168.55. Just then, another employee came in (Jabin Clark), who said that information is available online--that I could look it up via the tracking number. I asked him if he was sure about that--I didn't want to leave without a receipt--but he said yes. I left the store and about an hour later went on to the UPS website. UPS did not have any information for that tracking number. Nothing. Zilch. So, at 1:40 p.m. I went back to the store. This time Jabin was the only employee there and he told me to call UPS, give them the tracking number, and they would tell me whatever I needed to know. I said I did not want to do that verbally, that I wanted a paper receipt that I could read. Jabin said they don't provide receipts (other than the credit card receipt I already had). He was extremely unhelpful, uncooperative and rude. I asked Jabin how it was that they could expect me to spend $168.55 and not give me a proper receipt showing everything I paid for. He said that is the way every store is. I disagreed, said no other store I frequent would ask me to spend $168 and not provide a proper receipt. Jabin then asked me about the label Miguel asked me to sign. Hadn't I read it? Jabin said that contained the information I was asking for! I said I thought what I signed was the packing label, and that I had reviewed it quickly to make sure the address was correct, but did not see a full cost breakdown. Jabin said to me, "You didn't read what you signed? Who signs something without reading it first?" He literally ridiculed me. I asked him what he was trying to accomplish. I don't remember him saying anything responsive. I then asked for a copy of what Miguel had me sign. Jabin said he could not (or would not) do that for me. Suffice to say Jabin's lack of professionalism and lack of basic customer service skills were astounding. If I were responsible for his training and his behavior toward customers, I would be embarrassed. Instead of making a good faith attempt to understand and appreciate what I was asking for, Jabin was disrespectful, argumentative and rude. He literally scolded and made fun of me for not fully reading what Miguel had asked me to sign--and without being willing to give me a copy of what I signed. (By the way, the more I thought about Jabin's original response--that all the information I was asking for was available online against the tracking number--the more I realized he was not right. The tracking number is what the recipient can use to track the package. Could they really see how much I spent on the box, packing, insurance, etc.? I asked Jabin about this when I returned to the store, and this time he said no, all you see online is how much insurance was purchased!) read more
