It takes a certain level of skill to handle 3 customers while simultaneously providing quotes and shipping information to an angry customer over the phone. This location is small but efficient. I've dropped off several packages here and it's always been a seem less process, I appreciate efficiency. It's sucks that they don't seem to have more than two people working here at any given time, for a location in this area I'd imagine it's tough on the staff. It's usually less crowded around 3 and 4 but they crowds don't linger.

Jimmy hard at work. Super friendly guy.

This one is a completely opposite experience from the one in Harlem on the 116th Street (that got a 1 star from me.) Columbia is lucky to have Jimmy, Jeff and Andy around; I surely am as a Columbia student. This UPS Store would be the best one in NYC in my opinion. Fast service, even faster moving queues - thanks to the staff at this store. Specifically, Jimmy took care of my packaging and drop offs and it was an excellent experience. Kudos Jimmy and the Store itself. Did I mention cozy and homely? Andres' (Andy) management is splendid. *one star off cause as usual - sometimes packing prices can be, well you know what to expect from the UWS (that's upper west side btw.). I would still give it back 2 extra ones for being so gravitating that I once discussed economics and philosophy for half an hour on a Saturday.

Do yourself a favor and go to the USPS two blocks away, the FedEx across the street...or literally any other UPS in Manhattan.

For the most part, customers service is OK. If you know exactly what you want, then it's excellent. However, if you need a little more assistance then a couple members of the staff can be a bit cold. Don't get me wrong, they will help you out, but you can feel as if you are getting on their nerves (or you are mentally incapacitated) when you ask a lot of questions. Since (I'm assuming), that most of the clients are from Columbia and probably printing program books, posters, and fliers, it might useful for Village Copier to have standard templates. I think that would make life simpler for the customers and the staff.

But their self righteous attitude when I was not satisfied with results still bothers me. So I'll keep my review as a record and for your reference, if you are considering using village copier amsterdam. ------------ I printed my work sample the day before my job interview. The printed color was very off and redly toned. I complained. They said, laser printing was always right, so your file must be wrong. I asked them to reprint for double check. They said, you have to pay for it. I said, what if it's your problem. They said, no, the laser machine is too good to be failed. They won by claiming absolute rightness and charging me before they started to print. I left with anxiety about the coming interview, discomfort infilled by humid air, and anguish by my inability to fight back. Just leave a reminder here: Their level of professional service is a lie. They are always right about why the print looks different from what you have imagined. They may assume they have the best flawless machine in the world. Stay away from village copier amsterdam please. If you have to use village copier, do remember to pay for the job after you have seen the satisfying prints. Otherwise, you are left with no weapon and destined to loss.

Few institutions today so artfully blend the illusion of service with the poetry of inefficiency. I had, in my naivety, entrusted FedEx with the modest task of delivering a parcel--an act comparable, I now realize, to asking a Shakespearean clown to conduct brain surgery. The endeavor was billed as "two-day shipping," though I can only presume those two days are calculated on a Martian calendar or perhaps within the folds of a wormhole, where time and reason cease to apply. The package's route, as detailed by the tracking page, read like the itinerary of a disoriented aristocrat on an unchaperoned Grand Tour: from Atlanta to Chicago by way of Dallas, then a leisurely sojourn in Memphis (twice), before a curious detour to a distribution center whose coordinates I believe lie within a parallel dimension. One can only assume my humble parcel was in search of enlightenment. Customer service--ah, yes. A labyrinthine delight. Upon calling, I was treated to the dulcet tones of Muzak that surely once scored the fall of Rome, followed by a succession of representatives who exhibited the keen enthusiasm of overcooked cabbage. Their responses, delivered with all the warmth of an automated tombstone, assured me that "everything was on schedule," a phrase which now joins "the check is in the mail" in the pantheon of Great Lies. When the package did at last arrive, some 11 days later, it bore the visible trauma of its odyssey. Torn, dented, and bearing mysterious boot prints, it looked less like a parcel and more like a veteran of trench warfare. And yet--miracle of miracles--the contents remained intact, a testament not to FedEx's competence, but perhaps to divine intervention. In conclusion, I extend my sincere thanks to FedEx for this unforgettable experience in absurdist theatre masquerading as parcel delivery. I am forever changed--and irrevocably inclined to seek alternate couriers in all future endeavors.
