Not impressed. Easily could be made at home. Felt like a waste of money and an unsatisfying meal. Store bought tortillas, basic ground beef, papas tasted identical to instant potatoes just mixed with extra cheese and bacon bits.. Similar to when you're starting off in your first apartment and can make a edible meal that tastes alright, but you're still learning to cook by using basic seasoning and affordable canned or dried food. read more

The Copper Caboose has a great atmosphere and it is kept very clean, but I was torn away from the business based on staffing. The server was nice, but she gave some attitude and got part of our order wrong even after we had reminded her of our order several times (she didn't write any of it down). There was a man working that I didn't catch the name of but I heard the servers calling him "Shortie" he was extremely nice and asked us on several occasions if everything was okay or if we needed anything. The prices were great for the amount of food you get, the food was alright. The food came out relatively quick as well. As for the pool/bar side I was kinda disappointed. We were excited to go to a place that had a restaurant and pool tables that wasn't just a bar and were let down. The pool tables weren't kept well and looked dingy. Not only that but there was this man who looked to be watching us /continuously circling us that was working there to the point where it was lowkey creepy. After reading recent review here we were hesitant to go here (especially was a comment about a looooong wait). But let in the day there aren't a lot of options in town...very pleasantly surprised! We were seated in the bar/pool table area (by our request- booths were available in main seating area). Waitress appeared a bit overworked but quickly told us she'd be right with us, and she was. Beers arrived quickly, order taken , and food arrived pretty quickly- like 10 mins from order time. Food was good, hot, and hit the spot. It is not "San Diego Mexican food- more "Tex-mex" so set your expectation appropriately. Smoking is allowed in bar area by the way but there is good ventilation and we weren't bothered by smoke from next door table.... I think this restaurant is suffering from lack of staff and probably having trouble hiring due to covid. Chatting with our waitress ( Bri - who was great- attitude, attention, friendly!). She mentioned she was towards the end of a double shift so had been a long day... Overall a very good experience- it's not elegant but absolutely met my expectations for a local diner, and I would recommend. So go there and tip your servers well! I drove in from Austin after most regular diners close. Trying not to settle for fast "food", I searched Yelp for nearby recommendations. This place was one of them...pfthlfpth!! The website, although out of date, did a good job of deceiving me. There were great and misleading pictures of yummy-looking foods: burgers, pizzas, steaks, etc. that led me to believe that this was the place to go, and only 1 mile away. I was prepared, at this hour, to enter a bar/diner atmosphere - still preferring this over Whataburger or any of those. But, I was not prepared for this. It was like walking into an ashtray. My eyes and nose were immediately assaulted by burning cigarettes. Again, I realized that the close-up photos of the diner booths were misleading. The place was basically a large dirty pool hall with a few booths scooted along the side walls, and a small vacant room over to the side. I tried cowboying up and walked over to the bar to place my to-go order. After standing there for 5 or more minutes, one of the bartenders finally looked at me while she mouthed the lyrics to the country song playing on the in-house. Instead of acknowledging me, however, she gave me a smirk as if to say, "you wish you could..." And I did. I truly wished I could...GET SOME SERVICE. A couple of minutes more passed before I saw about 4 grown men/employees standing and talking in the little side room, which looked like it might be near the kitchen. So, I walked over and asked a man (whom I thought might be the manager) if I could place an order to go. The other guys disbursed, and he directed me to the bar, where he said they could take my order... So, I left and spent the next 5 minutes hopelessly airing out my jacket (which ultimately would not be gone until the following evening). Yelp helped me find a better place, and I drove there with the windows down in 35 degree weather so as not to stink up my poor lady-friend's new car. read more

I drove through Lubbock on a road trip with my mom. I ordered a chicken sandwich, the chicken was good the sandwich average. My mother ordered enchiladas. Halfway through the meal, she made a strange face and pulled a piece of hay out of her mouth. She immediately flagged down the waitress, and this is what followed: -The waitress forgot about us for around 20 minutes -When we finally spoke with the manager he accused us of planting the hay, claiming it didn't look cooked (hay is cooked by the sun and wouldn't be singed on the inside of an enchilada) -Then he pointed out that she ate half the plate, suggesting that the meal be prorated. read more

New in town looking for a good spot for the wife and I to hang out after work. Found this friendly diner! Our food was precise in both presentation and most of all flavor. My Hat is tipped to chef Billy. The wings were killer sir! Our service was 2nd to none thanks to Lonnie who was attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. We ordered thru grub hub for delivery. I ordered a salad w/ chicken fresh pineapple, grapes, mandarin oranges, avocado, bacon & mixed cheese and chips. WHAT I GOT was tons of lettuce, grapes, mandarin oranges, cheese and chips. Some of the lettuce was wilted (gross) not at all what I ordered. The grilled chicken was really good but I will never order from them again. My husband ordered philly steak and cheese and it was cold. The potato skins were more like a baked potato with toppings. This has been a lunch favorite for several years. The lunch buffet is good Tex-Mex style and the have the greatest fried fish during Lent on Fridays. Sometimes they have trouble keeping everything on the buffet line, probably because they have a pretty big crowd at lunch. Ordering from the menu is also a good bet. They seem to have a lot of wait staff turnover, but the service is usually good. read more

Recommended by a friend. We went on Saturday night, which was our first mistake because it was crowded with a bunch of screaming kids. I had beef faladas with tortilla soup. The soup was good. The fajita meat was very tough and flavorless. I ordered Mexican potatoes for my side dish. I expected some sort of cubed up potatoes will bell pepper, onion, jalapeno or something similar. I got mashed potatoes with cheese on top. While tasty, it was an odd combination. Husband had the beef fajita plate. Tough and tasteless. Our friend had the Philly cheese sandwich. She said it was okay. Thankfully, the beer was cold. Service was awful. We sat at the bar but it was like we were invisible. There were about 10 people at the bar, so not super crowded. (We are older and polite. We were not doing anything rude or obnoxious.) The server, Kim, would walk right past us and not even look our way - even though our mugs were empty. I couldn't get a spoon for my soup for the longest time. She was very attentive to the single males on the other side of the bar. First off the food is great. I always get the awful burger. It has bacon a couple different kinds of cheese and grilled jalapeños. (most of the time the jalapeños do get grilled, but several times they haven't been for some reason.) the service is spotty. I've been known to run out of tea nd not see anyone come take care of it for a while. I recommend not going after 6pm however. It's a rough area of town and it attracts a lot of the local rif raff. Went in with two other people and I only come in with a buy one, get one dinner plate coupon. Usually, this place is a good experience and it had been a long time since I last been here. I decided to buy two dinners and have one to go as part of my coupon (must buy drinks as well). Part of the bad experience was because of the waitress. I assume she was new but when you don't understand how simple shit like. So I finally got to order my to-go plate. What a damn mistake. First, I was charged extra to get my food to go and what I actually got looked like the amount of food some skinny vegan chick from Berkeley on her 'diet' would get. Take the amount of food you would usually get on a dinner plate and shrink it down by 50%. I swear Michelle Obama had something to do with my food because it was an elementary student's nightmare. Save your money and time and avoid this place at all costs. The general manager of this place (Johnny Garcia) is a joke just as much as the owner is (Phil) . It truly baffles me that they still even have customers after an establishment is ran in a way that has no courtesy for the customer. Johnny tried holding my ID hostage when I left it there one night by accident. Since my friend was previously a waitress there, she told me, and the other people that worked there currently also confirmed playing pool there on the blue tables was free. When I got there to get my ID The very next day Johnny told me that I did in fact need to pay $5. Okay $5 no big deal but I didn't have any cash on me, i was on my lunch break and I did not have time to sit and argue with him about $5. I just needed my ID. He was so beyond rude about it I couldn't even believe that a guy like that could even be a manager let alone a GENERAL MANAGER. I called to get his name after I left because I was not going to let it go, I had never been treated this way by a manager of a business, and he hung up on me. then I called later and another manager answered and refused to give me any information of that guy as well. This issue really bothered me so much because of the principal of the matter. I've been the manager of an establishment myself and NEVER would have ever treated a patron in this way. Over $5? I escalated to speak with the actual owner and who would have known, to my surprise, that he didn't give a shit just as much as Johnny didn't. As it turns out, I also left my sunglasses there as well, and I asked the owner about it and he said he would check into it. He did call me back later and tells me that my glasses were not there. WOW what a surprise. I know the low lifes that work there had to either steal them or sell them because they were very nice. All of this happened over the $5 Johnny so desperately needed. I guess it makes sense now, because they need every dollar they can get since Johnny is running off all the customers who help pay the bills around there. I find it funny that they try to blame the Villa Town next door because of the rubble that's left from the fire, that Copper is losing business, when ironically Copper is a pile of trash itself. read more

As a waitress of seven years, I am generally very forgiving of sub-par service, but my experience here was unacceptable. While our waiter was kind and friendly, I was served something I didn't order (didn't complain), charged for a drink I didn't have (I hate frozen margaritas, there is no way in hell I ordered one), and denied use of a valid groupon (who I will be contacting for a refund). Needless to say while the food, incorrect order that it was, was acceptable, the rest was not. I will refrain from using his name because he was relatively kind.
