I haven't been to Copa Cafe here in years. They are your typical HK cafe joint. Don't expect quality service. They are no frills and fast. We arrived at 5:30pm for a family of 4. There were booths available but didn't seat us there. We were made to wait for a smaller table despite back f a toddler. Maybe because I haven't had their food in awhile, it was tasty. We ordered the seafood baked rice. It looked impressive but when you think about it, the mussel shell takes up a lot of space. It was filled with imitation crab and onion. It was still tasty. We did the B+B sizzling plate meal. The sizzle was a novelty since I haven't had it in awhile. We ordered it with fried fish and pan fried chicken with garlic gravy. The pan fried chicken was very good. It comes with a bun and house soup. We chose the creamy one and I am surprised my toddler liked it. The iced lemon tea had ice in it but it wasn't cold. It had quite a good tea flavour.

First time at this place and we're happy with our dinner experienced. The place was very busy for Saturday dinner time but we got seated right away. Staff are friendly and very easy to call their attention. Foods we've ordered are very good. Delicious and tasty. Can't go back to try other dishes next time.

Copa (cup) of disappointment... Picking up something in the Poco area and was deciding on some Korean food or this place. In the end, decided on this place since it's been decade or longer since I have been to this place. Upon entering, it seems like the interior went through a bit of change and renovation. The place was pretty empty except for 3 booths seated with customers, maybe it was near closing time (1.5hrs before closing). Everything appeared to be clean throughout the restaurant with a comfortable spacing between the tables and booths. The service was subpar from the server, maybe she was more focused on cleaning and getting off work. When the owner/ manager took over, it was a lot better and she was more polite. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Sizzling Hot plate combo B+B (chicken steak & sausages) with borscht soup, spaghetti , cold lemon tea. The chicken was a little dry and the soup was a bit off and warm only. And the hot plate didn't sizzle at all, maybe a 3 second frisk sound? 2. Sizzling hot place combo A+B (filet mignon & deep fried oysters) with lobster bisque, steamed rice, add lobster tail $23 extra. The filet mignon was horrible, first time ever struggling to chew a filet mignon, it was dry and didn't taste fresh. The oysters were little midgets. The steamed rice was more like overnight rice just added a bit of water and a quick heat up by the microwave, it was dry and hard. And lastly the lobster tail was horrible; it had that bad fishy taste to it, one tiny bite from that and had to stop cause not worth food poisoning myself from it. And once again the sizzling plate wasn't even warm!! (Facepalm) The only thing okay was the lobster bisque. Overall, I was quite disappointed with the food. I don't remember it being this bad? What happened? Closer to closing time and whoever the cook in the kitchen was didn't give 2 cents about the food being served? Is it really that hard to hire a decent cook nowadays after the pandemic? And for crying out loud, it only takes 30 seconds to heat up the iron plates and how can one pawn off such a bad bowl of rice in a Chinese restaurant? I honestly would send this cook packing for retirement if working for me, definitely wouldn't tolerate this kind of bs jeopardizing my business. I guess I retained my good nature and composure by taking into consideration that the owner/manager was very polite and friendly; very poise and elegant with the services. I guess that's the only good part of this experience and kept my positivity inlined. Just enjoyed a quick instant noodle when back home lol

Copa Cafe is a solid HK style cafe option if you are looking for some classic Chinese comfort food. We stopped by for weekday lunch at 2 pm and the restaurant was surprisingly busy. We ordered a couple items and drinks. I had the Portuguese style seafood with rice with an iced lemon tea. Food arrived fairly quickly. My rice dish was loaded with pieces of potato and seafood. There was a good amount of sauce. The lemon tea tasted as expected. Service was good. Staff readily helped when we wanted to place our order or ask for the bill. Credit card payment accepted with bills over $25.

My family's favourite breakfast spot. Food and service quality is consistent, even during busy hours. The restaurant is also well-maintained. I've only been here a few times for lunch and dinner, but I find myself enjoying their breakfast menu more. Their food is reasonably priced and shareable, which is why we always come back here.

A Hong Kong style cafe, with free parking and across from a well known bubble tea shop. What's not to love? The menu is eclectic to say the least. They have Western style food like stake and lobster with your choice of pasta, rice or fries. They have HK Portuguese style baked seafood dishes over rice and covered in a light creamy curry sauce. They're serving sandwiches and soup. Do you enjoy choosing your own noodles, soup and meat options? They have that too. And of course they have a variety of Cantonese rice and noodle dishes. If it was closer to where I lived, I'd probably go and eat here at last once a week. Its good if you're with family or a bunch of friends and just order a few dishes and share.

I came here recently with my family to try their lobster dinner combo - 1 full lobster dish + 3 dishes of your choice for $98. The lobster was actually quite good. We chose the flavour to be steamed with garlic. For our 3 dishes, we chose the eggplant hot pot, pork chops with walnut, and the fried halibut. Generally, I think it was a good deal and you could choose from 49 different dishes. You can also add up to 6 dishes for a higher price. Good old neighborhood joint for the past 22+ years. Comfort food. Comfortable setting. Might want to avoid the bathroom here (actually most Chinese restaurants).

Finally had an opportunity to return to Copa Cafe since its closure and I was happy to be back. Set up as a Hong Kong Cafe type restaurant, it sticks close to being true and authentic. I like their lunch menu and my review is specifically for their "Mini Set" baked dishes. My "go-to" is the chicken with the house special sauce and my boyfriend rotates around the pork baked dishes and their many sauces. I find the protein generous and we get a cold drink on the side for an extra $1. (I normally order the milk tea or lemon tea.) Service is quick and abrupt, they are attentive but you might need to wave them down. I don't mind it, but it might not be for everyone. Post Covid era, I give them a thumbs up for their social distancing practices. All staff wore mask and gloves, they also spaced everyone adequately apart. Overall, this place is on my rotation list for a nice meal.

    "Japanese??" Style pork cutlet...
    KM J.

We were convinced by some of the hyped up reviews and decided to try this place. We ordered shrimp and egg noodle, laksa noodle soup, Japanese pork cutlet, original bubble tea, HK style coffee. -Shrimp and egg noodle: noodle had been pre-cooked, so it became a big lump when I got it. Tasted ok, but it was overly greasy. It should've been called "lump of over-cooked noodle doused in oil with some shrimp and egg". Did I mention they used too much oil? -Laksa: Again over-cooked noodle. Broth was too salty. Noodle was over-cooked. Not the laksa we were used to. Noodle=over-cooked. Oh yes, a couple of the fish balls were still frozen. -"Japanese" pork cutlet: not Japanese style at all. Wrong batter, wrong way to fry, no meat, wrong sauce (tasted more like oyster sauce based Chinese sauce than soy sauce based Japanese sauce), and what's with the 3 portions of rice?? -Service: 2 waitresses intentionally avoided us after making eye contact. Whenever we asked for something, they seemed confused and made sure to tell us any changes or additions would cost extra. We asked for a slice of lemon for laksa which cost us extra $.50. -coffee and milk tea were acceptable. One good thing out of this whole experience: we know not to go back.

Not really an authentic Szechuan restaurant. 30 years ago, most chinese cuisines were cooked by hong kongers or south chinese people. So, most of these dishes are going to be a southern take on it. Hot and sour soup - price is awesome. $11 enough for at least 6 bowls. Souo base is missing a bit of flavor but it is jam packed with ingredients. Drunken chicken - it was ok. Little on the salty side. Shanghainese pan fried pork buns - these were probably the worst I've had. Not made in house and not properly pan fried. No juice, super dry, no fried bottom crust. Bean curd wrapped pork dim sum - surprisingly this came out last. At least 20 min has passed. This is a steamed dish but it came out with dried edges like it was sitting on a dry heater. Taste was ok. Mapo tofu - asked for extra spicy and extra numbing. Numbing was there but nowhere near real szechuan numbing. Was not spicy at all. Sauce was more oily than saucey. The price point reflects the quality. Things are either mediocre or a complete miss. Would come again to try only the better stuff. Staff was friendly. Came to try to refill the tea way more times than normal. The iron goddess tea tastes much better than a lot of dim sum places elsewhere.

When I test out a new chinese restaurant, I usually order the tomato and eggs on rice because it's a staple (I grew up in China) for me. It was extremely disappointing and a little gloopy? The tomatoes were overcooked and mushy and the eggs were blended into the sauce which made the texture thick in a bad way. I am sad to report that this was somewhat the case. Yes, the service was substandard but the food was too :( The service was pretty typical for a Chinese restaurant. The servers are doing their jobs and don't care too much about pleasantries. My main gripe is that we all felt like the food was bland (apart from the fried string beans). We had also ordered chow mein with bokchoy and beef. They had typed in our order wrong and instead a beef brisket friedchow mein came out. We told them that the wrong order came out and they tried to convince us to keep it but it wasn't what we wanted! If you are familiar with Cantonese food, beef brisket has a VERY distinct taste. Eventually they agreed to take back the beef brisket chow mein and came out 2 minutes later with the chow mein we had originally ordered. I could taste the beef brisket sauce on it still. They had just removed the beef brisket from the noodles and replaced it with beef and bokchoy. In my opinion, they should've made us a new dish as this completely changed the taste of the dish. In terms of vibes, the restaurant looks like your typical Cantonese restaurant, the inside is a decent size. I think the clientele here leans more to the older side, not many young people seem to frequent here. Overall, I will not be coming back or ordering from here again :(
