Don't get fooled by the location and the tinyness of the restaurant. The staff are super friendly and they get to know you. Lots of regulars of all ages at the place. Some even stop by just to say hi. This HK style cafe that has great service and comfort HK style food in the area. They also have breakfast for under $10 with eggs, protein, french toast and a bowl of noodles. Being used to the options in Burnaby and Vancouver, I'm giving this place 4 stars as it's one of the better ones in the City center of Coqitilam. I really wanted to like them more than I did! The shopkeep is extremely nice and friendly but their food is just a hit or miss for me. Breakfast: HIT. Best place for congee or any type of HK style breakfast. Prices are fair and the specials give you a whole lot of bang for your buck. Lunch and Dinner: MISS. When I test out a new chinese restaurant, I usually order the tomato and eggs on rice because it's a staple (I grew up in China) for me. It was extremely disappointing and a little gloopy? The tomatoes were overcooked and mushy and the eggs were blended into the sauce which made the texture thick in a bad way. Couldn't finish it and tomato and eggs on rice is one of my favorite dishes so I was pretty heartbroken. I remember visiting here a few years back in 2018, I was out studying with a few friends at the Coquitlam Public Library next door and decided to have a quick lunch and that's when I ended up at the Libo Restaurant. Some will say that this place does make good HK style food, however I'll be honest with anyone who sees this review....there are better places than the Libo Restaurant. The restaurant is definitely a family run business as I noticed the owner working in the kitchen and his wife serving tables. All I wanted was a baked pork chop on rice for lunch, nothing else. I thought I would expect a quick conversation of taking my order and leaving me at peace. Instead she kept badgering me about ordering more things off the menu that I was not interested in. Unbelieveable...restaurant servers should respect the choices their customers make when ordering food. The next problem was the presentation, I have never seen a restaurant be so lazy as to use those aluminum take out containers to serve my food in. I'm eating inside the restaurant for heavens sake! This place can't even afford proper china. The baked pork chop on rice was mediocre in my opinion, pork cutlet wasn't flavorful and the fried rice seemed a bit greasy. Like I said, there are plenty of other places in Vancouver and Coquitlam like M Cafe or Copa Cafe that offer better HK style food than this run down shack. When I finished my food, it was time for me to leave. This is where I was appalled, the owner's wife had no privacy as to letting me pay via credit card. And when it came to choosing the tip options, I chose the specific amount I felt was what they deserved. She gave me a smug look that said "Really?" and literally told me, "I could do better than that". I ended up caving in to her as I wanted to leave this place and never come back. When I did give her an increased tip, her mood suddenly changed and she thanked me hoping that I come visit again. That is by far the worst ever experience I had in any restaurant. To beg a customer to give more tips just because I'm a university student is no excuse. This is shameful on her part and she should know better than to snoop to petty moves like this. My final remark - This place HAD potential but I just don't see it as a place I could visit weekly. The owner's wife is absolutely snooty and rude. The food is a mere meh in terms of HK style cuisine standards. This is a family style Hong Kong style cafe. Don't be fool by the size, it serves authentic Cantonese food. The owner and staffs are friendly and helpful. They will let you know the daily chef special and fresh ingredients. If you have trouble picking the dishes, they help with good recommendations. I highly recommend the Hainan chicken, various hot pot rice bowl and salt and pepper chicken. BTW they also serve traditional HK style breakfast like the one from Copa and M Cafe. read more

Soups were REALLY SALTY. It was not just salty it was like saltwater. ALSO they decorated with a piece of HAIR for our foods. I really don't want to give tips for them but the lady forced me to pay $2 for tips and she didn't look at us and say anything. I don't understand people 4~5 stars but please don't go there. I had a deep hankering for some chicken today so I decided to stop by Libo Restaurant before heading to work. I ordered the Salt & Pepper chicken nuggets for a quick meal. I often come here to curb my nugget cravings and as expected everything here tasted good, the seasoning is always on point - until today! As I was digging into the last few pieces of nuggets I discovered that the insides were raw. Good thing, I have a pretty strong stomach for things such as this, but after today I may no longer return. I'm one to support local restaurants and family owned businesses, however this was an unforgettable experience for me. Very very bad service attitude. The waitress dropped the menu on my desk and made a loud noise. When my friend asked for a to-go box, she seemed to be mad and unwilling to offer us one. This is a Cantonese cha chang teng restaurant with very kind owners! They didn't have a sign for "No Outside Food" but when I came in with my large pop from the movies the owner lady really kindly asked me just to put it off to the side because they sell drinks there too. She was so kind about it. When it came to ordering, my bf ordered 2 dishes for us to share - a sizzling beef and an eggplant dish in brown sauce (both ~$14) that came with rice and a drink. I was full (from movie popcorn) so I can't comment on the food, but the atmosphere really felt like I was at a family friend's house, where the parents keep offering you food and friendly conversation! read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Very disappointed with their customer service. If you don't speak canto or mandarin stay away. I arrived at this restaurant at 8:22pm and knowing it closes at 9pm, I asked them if it was okay to dine in or if i should just order take out. The female owner said yeah sure plenty of time. However, once seated I assume it was her husband who immediately wanted us to order right away. Every single item I picked out he said they are sold out. Bad sign already, i should of just left. He wanted me to pick items that cost 15.5 with no rice as they had package the rice to go home for the day. They were speaking in canto and not knowing we could understand, we can hear they were very vocal at complaining about making the food and unpacking the rice. It was really rush and I felt like we were such a bothersome. I never felt so unwelcome in a mom and pop shop before . When going to pay, they wouldn't even let us use visa when it clearly says they accept visa as I been here before. So I paid by cash and was whatever about it. This is one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurant in Coquitlam. Food are tasty and staffs are friendly and always helpful every time I was there. Last time I ordered the Sour cabbage and pork belly hot pot and asked the staff if I could get more soup, she switched the hot pot to a bigger one that's twice the size of the regular hot pot. I recommend this place to all my Taiwanese friends and they all like to dine at North House, and hopefully after reading this review, so will you. read more

I have ordered here previously with a group of friends when they just opened and had a horrible experience where our spicy tofu dish had soured. We told this to a worker and he said that next time they will use fresh tofu and did nothing to compensate for the soured tofu in the dish. The taste of the other dishes we ordered that day was good though. I decided to try this place one more time today since it was close to the library and I thought that they probably have improved from when they just opened. I ordered a lunch special (鱼香肉丝 $6.99) and my brother ordered another lunch special (salted fried chicken $6.99). My dish was way too sour and just overall did not taste up to par with other similar dishes that I've tried else where. My brother's fried chicken was quite good but it also came with a side of boiled Shanghainese cabbage which tasted absolutely disgusting - I can't fully describe the taste but it was kind of like used oil. Aside from the very mediocre food, the service was also quite disappointing. We were not given any napkins to start with. While I was trying to pay, the waitress chatted with another customer while standing to the cash register and did not hand me my bill until about 2 minutes of me standing there next to the cash register, waiting for her. read more

We ordered from JustEat.com it said that the delivery would be about 45 mins but it took him 1 hour and a half to make it and we live just up the hill. Also the fried rice was wrong we ordered a house special fried rice but the fried rice tasted like plain rice with veggies. And the steamed bum was really DRY. And the noodles we ordered were the. XO sauce fried rice noodle and it was not even close to being 'XO' its was very plain we will NEVER eat here again hope this helps. read more

Today I went there for dinner. As Hong Konger, myself ordered a hot milk tea with condensed milk underdeath so I do not need to add white sugar. The waitress didnt tell me that it would charge. On the menu hot drinks are free with fried noodle. By the time, I finish my meal, went on get the bill. They charged me for a dollar with that few drops of condensed milk. A dollar isn't a heck of a deal but I didnt expect they would charge me as it is considered service. I could buy a can of condensed milk for 3 buck in supermarket. A cold drink is only a dollar something. So few drops of condensed milk is the value of a cupt of cold drink. Haha. I would blacklist this restaurant. I learned they opened in crystal mall in the past, I knew alot of people blacklist them as well. In result, their food are not that special or above average. Its only a common hong kong cafe.
