Grub: Chicken with Ginger sauce I personally like this type of chicken. It's smooth and simpler to eat. Hainanese Chicken This chicken is good, but I prefer the chicken type that goes with ginger sauce. I guess it would be the way it is cooked. Soya Fried Fish, I think Halibut If anyone out there has tried the dish, if it is not Halibut, please correct me on this, greatly appreciate it. Eggs and Shrimp Always a delight to have this dish. Yummy! REPEAT! Tong Choy (Morning Glory), English name goes by different names This type of green vegetable is normally used in hot pot dishes. I personally would NOT REPEAT this dish, but that's my personal opinion. It's good, but I am used to having this for Hot Pot winter evenings. Spare Ribs with Honey Garlic Always a favourite in my book of eats. Yummy! REPEAT dish!

I am not sure why most of the Chinese Restaurants that are rated 3 stars are actually pretty good and worth at least a 4 star rating! My guess is that the main factor is their service, but in this case Wang Ji did not fail from that from the get go. Throughout the dinner we were served attentively and with courtesy. They also came on several occasions to offer fresh bone plates! This is my first time here, having been a residence in this neighbourhood for over 15 yrs. I totally ignored this place until recently. My God Sister treated us to a family gathering and had a Chinese family feast! Highlight items: Poached Chicken with Ginger, Garlic & Scallion Soy Sauce I have to say this dish alone will get a 4 star with no hesitation, the meat of the chicken is super moist and tender, full of flavour, and the skin is poached to perfection, ( in Cantonese Cuisine Chicken Skin is highly valued, but with today's health standards, we usually discard it ). The accompanying sauce is not the usual kind you would get in 99.9% of the restaurants when serving this dish, but they have made a signature sauce which actually I like a lot! If you are here with a smaller group just order 1/2 chicken and you will have plenty! Stir Fried Clams in Szechuan Pepper & Pepper Corn Amazing mixes of spice and savoury, the sauce is a killer!! I would highly recommend this go with an ice cold beer, it is perfectly stir fried and the clams are cooked well, I would love to see the clams to be more plump, but this is already 95% up there! Stir-fried Morning Glory with Bean Paste Sauce Perfectly seasoned, this popular vegetable is most suited when pared with stronger seasoning and still carries well, the Chef did a great job in not over cooking the delicate vegetable, which also shows the wok skills!! With all these solid dishes done well, no wonder this place is always packed and require reservations! (Lucky we live pretty close by!)!

Great variety of Chinese Wang ji is a pleasantly weird place that has Taiwanese fried chicken, Shanghai Xiao long bao, hk style dimsum and king crab all under one roof. This place is easy to find and parking was abundant. The restaurant is cozy and the interior design was ... neat and rather welcoming. This was the first time we tried this restaurant and was definitely surprised by the extensive menu they have. Some of these items seemed rather out of place on the same menu, but we appreciate the variety. We were gonna order the beef noodles, but unfortunately, that's only in the lunch menu. (Till 3pm) That is actually kinda annoying since couple of the things we wanted were only on the lunch menu. We ended up ordering a seafood fried noodles, spicy fried clams and Taiwanese fried chicken. Yes.. all fried things that are difficult to make at home. They were all rather delicious, particularly the fried chicken. It's the chunky, boneless type which was juicy, flavorful with a good texture on the exterior. The flavor of clam was a bit overwhelming but I enjoyed it. And it's also a good thing that it's located next to a chatime. If some of dishes we too intense for your taste, you can always just grab something refreshing next door. Food 8/10 Service 8.5/10 Ambiance 8/10 Value 9/10

The restaurant is located in the busy Garden City plaza in Richmond. Parking can be hard to find depending on the time of the day. The interior is well lit and clean. There is a "taste of home" wall sticker and some framed pictures. There is also ample seating but the restaurant was full by the time we finished our lunch. I highly recommend that you come and try the lunch combos. For about $12-14 after tips and tax, you'd get a main dish, rice (depending on the dish) and a honey green tea drink. What a good deal! The portion was decent as well and food was yummy. I really liked the cumin lamb. If you come for dinner (which I haven't yet), I would suggest coming with more people. As per the menu, dinner options are mostly entrees where you'd order rice on the side. Therefore, the more people you have in your party, the more dishes you can order!

Small restaurant in the plaza on Blundell and Garden City. Went there at around 5:30 on a Saturday and got a small table without waiting, but the place was packed shortly afterwards. This place serves the regional Cantonese cuisine from Zhanjiang. The signatures dishes are their chicken. They have a big steamed chicken dish that you have to reserve and preorder, which we did not get. Instead, we ordered half of traditional free-range chicken, and that was delicious. Very flavorful and soft chicken. The coconut chicken soup was excellent too. We also ordered the fish roe and shrimp fried rice. The fish roe gave the fried rice a bright color, but didn't add much to the taste. Also got an order of the stir-fried halibut pieces, and that was good, and the ong choy was decent. For dessert, we got the gooey custard steamed buns. The buns tasted alright, but I've had better ones at other restaurants. Overall a pretty decent meal. The bill was $100, which is not cheap. The three of us finished all of the dishes. We might return to tried the signature steamed chicken.

First time to eat at this Taiwanese restaurant located on Blundell road in Richmond. Location: great! Big parking lot with many parking spots outside the restaurant. It is in the same complex of IGA and shoppers drug mart. Food: great! The BBQ pork fried rice came first. It tasted very well that the chef cooked the rice well. The dish of braised butterfish tasted good and it was big. I loved the chicken fried rice cake. The two different pots of soup tasted great as well. Basically each dish of food was great. There was no MSG. I didn't feel thirsty after eating so much food!! Ambiance: great! The environment was quite comfortable giving us a "homey" feel. The interior design of the restaurant was not very fancy, but it was fair good enough for a family type of restaurant. Service: each server was friendly. I liked the one who told me which dishes were popular in the restaurant. Basically she went through the menu from the beginning to the end with me. I really appreciate her time and service. All of the servers treated us well that they always checked on our table and made sure we had been taken care of. Pricing: not expensive at all. I ate dinner with family and relatives with 8 adults and 2 kids. The bill was only$120 plus tip. Comparing to White Spot, Boston Pizza, and even some HK cafes, this restaurant was way cheaper.

Really enjoyed the soy sauce chicken, deep fried tofu with peppery salt and the salted egg yolk fried prawns. A little pricy but the quality was great.

Had a really delicious dinner here last night! Portions were good, flavours on point and prices were reasonable. We opted to go with more Cantonese style dishes but their extensive menu includes typical dishes from Taiwan to Shanghai. Yellow chicken - Probably the best I ever had. Meaty, juicy and came with a side of dipping soy sauce. I requested for a small side of ginger and onion sauce that usually comes with the chicken for no additional charge. Eggplant - Tons of sauce and plump egg and cooked to perfection. The dish also included some tree mushrooms and carrots which was nice! Egg yolk shrimp - Omg the sweet and savory salty duck egg yolk coating on the shrimp was divine. Black pepper steak sizzling plate - Juicy and tender pieces of steak served with red and green peppers. Service was good and our teas were consistently refilled. Food came out quickly and hot. Everyone loved the food and we will definitely be back to try out the other items on their extensive menu.

Saw this restaurant the other day when I went to try out Ginger Indian Cuisine. It looked really busy so I figured it must be good to try out! I came back a few days later and I was disappointed. It started off well as we got seated quickly but for some odd reason they didn't give us menus. The table next to us was having their order taken by the waitress so we figured she saw us menu-less and would give us the menu after they were done. But nope! She took the menus and threw it on the empty table behind her. Luckily a few minutes later another waitress came by to ask if we got menus yet. Ordered our food: got two bowls of rice ($1.75 each), honey spareribs ($12.95), and deep fried chicken ($7.50). I thought the menu prices were were on the pricier side in general. It took awhile for the food to come but during the meantime I was observing everything else happening in the restaurant. The food for the table next to us came and the customer discovered a piece of metal (likely from what they use to clean pots/pans) in the food! She called a waitress to look so they took the dish away and came back later with the dish remade. The waitresses seemed to be scrambling around a lot and one time I asked for more tea and they just forgot about it. Finally my food came. The chicken was a bit salty but tasted good, the honey spareribs on the sweeter side but tasted good in its own way. The elderly lady next to me and her husband finished eating and she needed an extra napkin so she asked for it. The waitress took forever to bring the napkin and when she did she just kinda threw it on the table. Overall, service wasn't so great and I think the food semi-saved this review from a lower rating!

October, 10, 2019 Went there for dinner. 2 of us tried their .. Pineapple shrimp fried rice... a lot of pineapple inside, shrimp was tender and tasty Sweet and sour pork... so crispy and tasty, but small portion for $17 Basil leaves shredded pork fried noodles.. they put a lot of meat and vegetables inside.. Services and food quality are better before, because of their boss and his family were eating beside us.

tried this place for the first time and wasnt disappointed. its a hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall in richmond, next to an awesome indian place. ordered the house special wang ji chicken. sliced beef brisket, coca cola spareribs, chicken nuggets, fried noodles, and stir fried lamb with cumin! wang ji chicken was delicious. very fragrant and flavourful. each bite was succulent. the soy /ginger dipping sauce complimented the dish so well. paired with rice and hot tea : winner! sliced beef brisket was likewise amazing. order was huge. each slice was tender with very good marbling! seasoned well and just enough sauce to bring out the flavour even more. chicken nuggets were like taiwanese nuggets! crispy on the outside, juicy and succulent on the inside. truly a chicken winning chicken dinner! fried noodles were standard fare. came out like shanghai noodles...bit greasy but flavourful. lamb cumin was so good! perfect seasoning of cumin and other spices...lamb cut used was hotpot style. so it was tender and was able to absorb the spices...awesome dish! my least fav was the coca cola ribs. it was tender and sliced into bite size pieces...but the sauce was too sweet and overpowering. after a few bites, diabetic coma follows...lol! service was quick and efficient. tea and water cups were refilled quick despite the shortage of staff. for dessert we trued the fried bun with condensed milk dip. standard fare but good! happy eating!

    Beef (thick) Noodle Soup
    Hubert Y.

As promised, I came back for a third visit to try the Beef Noodle Soup. And, it did not disappoint. The beef were really tender. Noodles (thick), nice and chewy. And the broth was rich, flavourful and not salty. The vegetables could be more cooked. Overall, the beef noodle soup and service during this visit was better than expected.

Wang Ji Restaurant 9100 Blundell, Richmond. $12.60 What ? Are you serious. Mao Pao Tofu, rip off ! Container is 5 " across. Only half full
    Lyle B.

If I could give this restaurant 0 (zero) stars I would ! I paid $12.60 for take out "Mao Pao Tofu". The 2 pictures show what I got. The container is more for left overs or a small soup. It is 5 " across and slightly more than half full. And 40% of that is liquid. This is cuisine robbery ! I use the word cuisine loosley. Liquid Gold maybe. This is the way it was received. I have not touched the contents. I immediately complained, saying " If you can not give me more than this, I will not be returning." . They replied " No we can not, this is the portion we give. If you want you can order something different". I replied " Really ? O.K. bye bye. See you on Yelp. Yikes ! What a RIP OFF ! ! Do not dine here, unless you have lots of money to burn !

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Yes come on a date or impress business clients/boss or family celebrations.

On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

Not sure if it has been the same chef/cook on Saturdays during breakfast and lunch time but the food hasn't been as tasty when compared to weekdays. We also noticed that the portion wasn't as big as what we usually received on weekdays. The complementary soup that came was lukewarm so that was already one point off. The dishes when served were not presented nicely. For example, there was food hanging off the plate and pot (they eventually fell to floor) or spilled sauce on the table. Even my favorite dish stir fried beef rice noodles was just mediocre today. We ordered 6 dishes and every single dish was salty and greasy. It really felt like they were made in haste. It was overall a disappointment and I don't think I'd want to visit the restaurant on a Saturday again.
