This place was not good. The server advertised a wheat on draft which we ordered and it was actually a stout. We ordered a lobster bisque, French onion soup, a house salad, and squash ravioli in brown butter sauce. The bisque was essentially a bowl of cream with a pile of (probably reheated frozen) lobster on top (15$). The ravioli was more like a dessert, with toasted pecans on top of a few pieces of pasta drenched in a big sloppy soupy mess of sage sweetened condensed butter. Dog friendly! I ate here with my dad, boyfriend and Boxer on a perfect August evening. The waitress even gave my dog some water and Milk Bones, she was happy and I, impressed. Our dinner was delicious, even if it took a while to arrive. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you have your dog with you and would like a nice meal that isn't just from a burger joint. read more

Sigh. I really want to like this place, but out of three visits, I've had one miserable service experience (crying waitress, a 45-minute wait for a salad, and a manager who walked by our table in the crying waitresses section without offering a single word) and one miserable food experience (why am I paying for dried-out chicken breast on non-toasted stale bread? With no sauces or flavorings?) However, it does have great outdoor seating, and it's not at all pretentious. I am sure that you can find good food on the menu; I've just struck out twice. read more

So we had complimentary breakfast voucher for the continental breakfast. We went and not impressed with what they had but wanted to order off the menu. So we did- the waiter was clearly annoyed. Guess the Buffett is easier for him. He then forgot to refill our coffee and waters so we had to go to buffet and get our own... really?!? Totally more worried about cleaning up to get off than his 3 tables in the whole place. Then he wanted to charge us for three coffees when he knew we had the vouchers for breakfast. I love Coolidge Park Cafe the servers and food are excellent!! My absolute fave is Lemon Pesto Chicken Panini. Every time I've come here the waitstaff have been very nice to me and people I eat dinner with. The server Geri is super nice takes photos for me and refills my drinks promptly food is delicious and I'm very happy every time I visit!! Went yesterday with two others. We were seated in a corner facing the corner -- I guess if they'd put a chair in the corner facing out, we'd have been too much in the way, as we were right next to the kitchen. Our three meals were kind of hit-or-miss. One said the french onion soup was the worst onion soup she'd ever had. My angus burger tasted mostly of char, even though the inside was medium-ish, as ordered. (Though not evenly cooked throughout.) I don't even know how they did that. On the plus side, the sweet potato fries (which are soggy many places) were thin and crisp, a BLT came on a nice light croissant, and a third entree of salmon on risotto was good. The waitress was pleasant and fairly attentive. And they take reservations, which is not the usual in Northampton. Coffee: third diner said not good. The green tea was Bigelow, second diner said not very good. And they were out of two of the eight or so listed desserts. The waitress said it was a "crazy weekend" -- but it was only Saturday evening. And it was Smith College graduation -- did they not expect to be busy? Makes me suspect they do not make their own desserts. We skipped dessert. Overall, I wouldn't refuse to eat there again if someone else wanted to (though I'd order something else), but it would not be high on my list of places to eat downtown. read more

Loved the Blackened Steak Tips with linguine in a spinach and vegetable cream sauce! Not on the menu as listed here, but so delicious! Our server Michelle was wonderfully attentive. She recommended our meals, and she was absolutely accurate in her description. We were served a very large green house salad beforehand, loaded with vegetables. The Parmesan Peppercorn dressing tasted freshly made and very creamy. Soft and chewy herbal rolls were served promptly, as soon as we asked for bread and told the server we hadn't eaten all day. The surroundings were beautiful and relaxing after a stressful day in town on business. Michelle made our dinner special! We will definitely be back. read more

The Coolidge Park Cafe in the Hotel Northampton is not at all what I expected! It is classy, but not pretentious, casual, beautiful and the food is fantastic. The high ceilings and large sunny windows make for a great atmosphere, especially sitting at the bar. I had a summer salad of baby spinach, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, spicy / sweet walnuts and goat cheese with a vanilla vinaigrette...SENSATIONAL!! So clean and sharp, perfect for a sunny summer afternoon. The Lobster Bisque is a must try as well, I don't even like lobster, yet I order it almost every time I go. My friends and I have eaten there a few times now and always had a great experience. read more

Outstanding service, atmosphere and staff! This also seems to be the only dog friendly restaurant in Northampton. 6 of us and 2 dogs travelled to Northampton for Memorial Day weekend and went here for both dinner and brunch, the food was extraordinary! We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the gorgeous weather and fresh air. We ordered several apps, the crab cakes were delicious. All dinners were large portions, we did not go home hungry. The Lobster Mac n cheese was probably the best I ever had. Huge portions of lobster were in each bite. The paninis were also very large and very affordable. Brunch was equally amazing. The omelette bar was fantastic and there was a huge variety of food to choose from at the buffet. The staff also went out of there way to make us comfortable and make our experience over the top. I would highly recommend it, especially if you can sit outside. read more

I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good the Coolidge Park Cafe was at the Hotel Northampton. I had been here before when I was younger, but my boyfriend never had. We didn't want to walk all around Northampton to figure out where to go so we stopped here. We started with the Bruschetta which was absolutely amazing. French bread with pesto, tomatoes mozzarella and a balsamic drizzle..YUM! I had the Strawberry spinach Salad which was good, pretty typical with the goat cheese and pecans, but was very tasty. My boyfriend got the special summer salad which was the shrimp and pineapple salad which was SO good! The drinks weren't the best I've had, but we had the bartender make sangria, which wasn't on the menu, so it was our fault I guess. Service was great, good meal to say the least and we will be back! read more

Any time we drive up north on Rt. 91 the C. P. Cafe is a must stop for lunch! Set in the Northampton Hotel the cafe over looks a small park. Salads, sandwiches, burgers and more are innovative and prepared with fresh ingredients, and served by freindly and attentative waiters. (we ate at the bar) My wife had the chef chopped salad with tomato based vinegarette and I had a chicken salad sandwich that included home made coleslaw and hand cut french fries. We each had a glass of house wine and spent about $23.00 with out the tip. read more

Nice early evening dinner here one day in August. Menu selection was varied enough for all tastes, service quick and polite. Food was better than we anticipated and portions were substantial -- we took home enough for lunch the next day. Prices reasonable. Ambience pleasant with good views over the streets of the town. I usually love going here. The atmosphere is great and they offer reasonably priced food and cocktails. However, after tonight we will not be going back. The service was great which is the norm here. I ordered a drink which is my "go to" wherever I go (a simple martini). I tasted the drink when it came out and noticed right away that it had a sweetener in it. I told the wait person who offered to remake, no issues at all. Shortly after the bartender on shift (June 17, 8:30 pm) came out to our table and was extremely rude, puffed up his shoulders and said he would not make me another drink unless I paid for it and insisted he did nothing wrong at all. I felt unsafe after the encounter. I've never felt this way in my life at a restaurant, especially one of such class as Hotel Northampton. My party canceled their dinners and we went elsewhere. This bartender should not be allowed to harass customers. The manager never came out to apologize. I felt I needed to write this review to highlight this bartenders behavior which could offend or scare more people in the future. read more
