Doesn't look eye pleasing from the outside, but it's a cute little place with good food and their home fries are delicious! As a travel nurse, I'm always looking for a quick good bite, and glad I stopped by. Nice to see locals around and everyone was friendly. Found this little gem while looking for a lunch spot on yelp. Small unassuming little place that you could pass easily if you blink. I know because we passed it. Inside it was nicely decorated and clean. We were in there close to two, their closing time. I ordered chicken soup, it was homemade and hotter than hell, as it should be! It was delicious! I also ordered a tuna salad sandwich with a layer of egg salad (I know, but good!). She said no problem. My co-worker had a huge western omelet w toast and home fries. Homestye Cafe is the kind of place that everyone knows everyone by name and you stand out if you are not a regular. The short order cook is the owner and most likely will wait on you if you sit at the counter if things are not to busy that is, there is a waitress for table service should you have a larger party though. The menu is limited not fancy; things are done promptly and in my view, done very well. Good coffee, very good coffee in fact, and a variety of eggs cooked your way with a bevy of breakfast meats to match. The item most folks rave about are the home fries an item I have long ago given up on and stopped ordering as I am always disappointed. This time as I dined I heard a lady rave about the potatoes being the best she has ever had. Intrigued, I questioned the owner on her prep method and lo and behold she is very old school taking no shortcuts as it is a three day process just as it was in my father's diner. On my next breakfast excursion, I will give the home-fries a try to see if they live up to my most cherished memories growing up in dad's diner. read more
