I just have to give it five stars despite the fact that Info Wars was playing on the TV. My food does go down better without a side of politics. However, the guy that took our order and cooked our food was super friendly. He welcomed us to coffee and told us to take our time deciding. I ordered a number 1 with bacon on an English muffin... Hubby ordered a philly cheese with fries. The whole place is a cool little retro diner style joint, with stools and booths. They aim to please and seem to do a pretty good business. We heard our man taking delivery orders on the phone (for local businesses) and there was a steady flow of customers in and out. And the food was excellent. I'm from NY and know a good egg sandwich, and this was worth the metered parking and two block walk on this sub-zero-degree day. I'd come back here in a second if I lived in the area or visited again. The egg sandwich was perfect and my husband truly enjoyed the philly cheese. He even commented "this is a place with old grill grease and you can taste it!" (That's a good thing!). The fries were soooooo good! Was the perfect way to start our day before heading off to the Springfield Museums!

Good groceries and plenty of them!

Well here is a great little example of a good old fashioned and friendly little cafe. Immediately upon entering I received a hearty welcome from the owner/cook. Breakfast served all day. The decor is reminiscent of the old diners that were spartan but clean. Various awards and trophies line the walls. A menu board lists the options and you place your order at the counter, pay a very reasonable price, and have a seat at a booth or counter and wait for your hearty meal! I had a made to order omelette with corned beef hash, potatoes, toast and coffee for $10. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault! Back again for lunch. Awesome!

Take out order - super quick, cash only. The number seven stayed hot, if slightly sticky (French toast, bacon, home-fries) Potatoes were good, onions & peppers well cooked through. Grilled cheese on rye wasn't greasy and one of the better grilled cheeses nearby. Not an everyday spot, but good value for the money.

Great diner! All the breakfast plates and sandwiches were hot and tasty. Nice hostess and funny ball in chain bathroom key.

Home fries are raw potatoes. I asked for the bacon to be cooked extra crispy and that was ignored.

My wife and I went to Frigo's today (a Saturday). I ordered the "Classic Italian" and she got the cream of broccoli soup. Suffice to say, my grinder did not look anything like the featured photo on Yelp. For the "Classic Italian", I was expecting quality Italian bread loaf. Instead, what I got was a small, spongey, insipid roll of inferior quality. The meats were pre-cut and rolled into a small "cigar" that went into the grinder roll. This caused the sandwich to be unbalanced: when taking a bite from the left side, I got some meat, but when biting from the right side, all I got was veggies and bread. The sandwich was a chore to finish and I only continued to stave off hunger. Overall, the quality wasn't great. I have eaten much better Italian grinders at lesser known establishments. My wife complained that the cream of broccoli soup had an overpowering flavor of onions. I tried and spoonful and have to say I agree. The one redeeming quality is that the food was relatively affordable, with the "Classic Italian" costing $10 and the cup of soup costing $3. Maybe other grinders or pre-made dishes are better, but after considering what we got, we will not be back.

I mainly visited since it was nearby, but also because they offered a standout Ruben, keyword 'offered' as in they don't have it anymore. My colleague loves Reubens but he ended up having to order something else furing our visit. This ended up being a good thing because he was super happy with his choice afterward. I looked over the menu and there were other menu items also crossed off, but still plenty of options to choose from. Their burgers are handpressed but only 6 oz. That is a little small for me, especially when I'm hungry. After conversing with the gentleman behind the counter about my options, we both agreed I should go with the spicy fried chicken sandwich. I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich which comes with homemade fries and their homemade green tea with ginger and mint. My colleague ordered the pork cutlet sandwich and said it was amazing due to the apple chunks on the sandwich. Both were actually daily specials listed on their board to the right of the menu. My sandwich was quite large and spicy with the fresh jalapenos and a spicy sauce. It reminded me of the large chicken sandwich at Longhorn Steakhouse, but this one was even larger and better. The fries are fresh cut which made this meal perfect. This restaurant is truly nothing special from the outside appearance and both my colleague and I even thought it looked closed when we were driving by. He also said he doubts they have any seating, but we were both wrong. Don't doubt yourself about this restaurant. It is a truly hidden gem with some uniquely prepared foods waiting inside. They had limited beverages. I wanted regular iced tea, but ended up with the homemade green tea with mint and ginger which was pretty good, but no free refills. Service was of course excellent. I interacted with the gentleman a couple more times as I knew I'd need a lot more napkins to tackle this food.

The small seating area is clean but lets you know that this is a great place for takeout. I entered about 15 minutes before closing (2:00 PM) and half expected a terse greeting. Instead, I was patiently given time to look over the menu of both meat-based and vegetarian dishes. I ordered the half grilled cheese sandwich with soup and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious, and a bargain at $15.95. If you're in the area for breakfast or lunch, I highly recommend Eat!

We've both celebrated many a special occasion here in the 90s and this time was no different. I was extremely happy to see that absolutely nothing had changed. That kind of reliability is exactly what you want from your favorite restaurant back home. You basically want to leave it in a time capsule and walk back in after 30 years to find it right as you had left it. The place was bustling per usual. The server was fantastic. The wine was great. The house salad and house dressing were so good they made me want to scarf down vegetables. But the meatball grinder... THE MEATBALL GRINDER!!! (I now live in a place where we call them subs, but nothing compares to a good grinder.) It was culinary perfection: the bread was golden and crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The perfect balance of bread, sauce, cheese, and meatball. And the flavor of the meatball itself was perfectly seasoned and balanced. I'm already 100 miles away and I'm still thinking about it and will be for days... weeks... MONTHS! Until next time

They gave us a buzzer, told us it would be about 25 minutes, and we went into the bar to have a glass of wine and wait. I must say the chaos was beautifully controlled. Lots of room in the bar, and a spot to order drinks if you couldn't get a seat at the bar. Generous pour on the wine. And sure enough, about 25 minutes later our table was ready. Waitress was friendly, helpful, professional. Servings were more than ample. Fried calamari appetizer was delicious, crispy, not at all greasy. My daughter really enjoyed her chicken dish. I, however, was disappointed, and I blame myself. I should know better than to order eggplant at a restaurant. If I'm ordering eggplant rollatini, I'd like to taste the eggplant. I don't know why restaurants insist on slicing it so thin that you can't actually taste the eggplant, just the breading. It's not that it's an expensive ingredient, it's gotta be cheaper than the cheese....anyway, I'd go back but hopefully I have learned my lesson - if I want to taste eggplant, I'll cook it myself.
