City Jake's Cafe - Front door.. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Springfield, Massachusetts

Ordered in from Jake's-- good, hot omelet. The muffin had been grilled to make it hot. Great place for a quick, homestyle meal.

Everything I'm this spot is so classic ! I love the food, the prices, the location of it - all around a cool little diner / cafe feel with a wonderful vibe! read more

This is a small restaurant on main street in Springfield Mass. The food is Amazing I have been going there for years. Definitely a hit.

I grew up with this place as a staple for a good b'fast sandwich. I visited last week, felt like a patty melt. After ordering, I over hear an exchange with the owner and a patron. Long/short, patron starts in on politics "Let's get that uneducated scum out of the White House right now so we can get our Nation back in order." I understand an owner cannot control what comes out of the mouth of patrons. What should not happen however, is when the owner is audible about his opinion and it is equally as offensive. It was visceral, from both parties. So much so that I cannot fathom returning. Regardless of my party and/or political opinion, business owners should ah hem "know better." read more

Have not actually been there having things delivered this morning. It looks like it's going to be wonderful a decent price with a little spice I like spice thank you. I believe I will probably be eating there a little more often. read more

Always great . And jake is funny as hell My absolute favorite on the menu is the western . read more

Little place you probably would not notice off the beat and path. The breakfast was served hot and the sandwich was delicious! The fries were not cooked long enough and were crunchy. I ate the potatoes off my hubbys plate and they were good. He got the Beat the House sandwich and it was tasty and properly cooked. read more

Great diner! All the breakfast plates and sandwiches were hot and tasty. Nice hostess and funny ball in chain bathroom key.

Great little diner with some really good solid food. Breakfast all day if you're a late sleeper or you get in later than expected. Classic benches inside. Family run business. Self serve coffee which isn't the greatest. Just a normal cup of joe. No bling. Home fries were spot on. Plastic plates and silverware to cut down on the overhead. I get it. Prices are really reasonable. Great people. Owner and wife are high school sweethearts so they have seen it all. Owner I believe was the cook. Don't ask. He has a board in the back that explains all the 50 fun facts about him and who he is. Good stuff. The only reason why I gave a 4, CASH ONLY. DOESNT MAKE SENSE WHEN YOU HAVE ONLINE ORDERS AND NO CREDIT CARDS IN STORE. ITS THE SAME THING. read more

I just have to give it five stars despite the fact that Info Wars was playing on the TV. My food does go down better without a side of politics. However, the guy that took our order and cooked our food was super friendly. He welcomed us to coffee and told us to take our time deciding. I ordered a number 1 with bacon on an English muffin... Hubby ordered a philly cheese with fries. The whole place is a cool little retro diner style joint, with stools and booths. They aim to please and seem to do a pretty good business. We heard our man taking delivery orders on the phone (for local businesses) and there was a steady flow of customers in and out. And the food was excellent. I'm from NY and know a good egg sandwich, and this was worth the metered parking and two block walk on this sub-zero-degree day. I'd come back here in a second if I lived in the area or visited again. The egg sandwich was perfect and my husband truly enjoyed the philly cheese. He even commented "this is a place with old grill grease and you can taste it!" (That's a good thing!). The fries were soooooo good! Was the perfect way to start our day before heading off to the Springfield Museums! read more

Went looking for a better breakfast option than a casino breakfast this morning and a local pointed me to City Jake's Cafe. Great recommendation. Quick, easy and delicious counter breakfast. Loved the counter person and cook, very nice people. Wish I could've stayed around today I would have come back for lunch too! read more

Well here is a great little example of a good old fashioned and friendly little cafe. Immediately upon entering I received a hearty welcome from the owner/cook. Breakfast served all day. The decor is reminiscent of the old diners that were spartan but clean. Various awards and trophies line the walls. A menu board lists the options and you place your order at the counter, pay a very reasonable price, and have a seat at a booth or counter and wait for your hearty meal! I had a made to order omelette with corned beef hash, potatoes, toast and coffee for $10. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault! Back again for lunch. Awesome! read more

Delicious breakfast, great customer service, and out of this world corned beef hash! Hot, fresh, and fast!

This place has a great price, good food, and that New England vibe you would expect. I came for a cup of coffee and saw breakfast was served all day so I stayed and was not disappointed. If you need fluffy displays this isn't the place for you. This place is a community cafe that encapsulates the neighborhood in which it serves. read more

Take out order - super quick, cash only. The number seven stayed hot, if slightly sticky (French toast, bacon, home-fries) Potatoes were good, onions & peppers well cooked through. Grilled cheese on rye wasn't greasy and one of the better grilled cheeses nearby. Not an everyday spot, but good value for the money. read more

Pretty fantastic. What a great local joint where the owner (who I presume to be jake) is super friendly, knows all the regulars, and treats everyone like family. Menu is literally exploding with choices and Jake will make it like you want it. Breakfast is great and super cheap. It's served in a styrofoam plate but I have no complaints- it was deliciously filling and cheap. I truly think this is one of those downtown Springfield gems and you should check it out just for the experience. My only wish is it was open for dinner. read more

We enjoyed a breakfast sandwich with home fries and a steak and cheese sandwich with grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms; onion rings on the side. Food and service are both homey and lovely. Great price. Highly recommend. read more

Visiting from New Hampshire and staying at the nearby MGM casino/hotel, we decided to venture out for breakfast. This place was an awesome find. The breakfast was very good, everything hot off the grill. More importantly was the awesome, very friendly people working there. I don't know if they were the owners or staff but, they obviously care a lot about their business & their customers. They must be a popular place because in just the time it took us to eat our breakfast, they must have had 10 pick up drivers come in to get orders. The nice part is they took care of everyone, dine in & dine out very efficiently. Great job City Jake's Cafe!! We'll be back for sure read more

I had some time to kill in Springfield while waiting for a ride from the train station. This place was just a couple blocks away. I ordered a waffle with some chicken tenders and home fries. WOWWW! Very friendly and accommodating staff, amazing food, very reasonable price. I am saving this location for future train travel, so I remember where to get great food (and large portions at that)! read more

Cash only. Fast service. Decent menu. It's a diner/takeout place that serves everything fast and hot. They serve on styrofoam plates, but everywhere you look it is clean. I like it because it doesn't try to be something it's not. It's not nasty & dirty, it is clean and fast. Plenty of veggies in the omelette, and "Jake" is really friendly with everyone that comes in. It ain't deluxe, but it's great nonetheless. read more

City Jake's Cafe - Very clean seating area. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Springfield, Massachusetts

Home fries are raw potatoes. I asked for the bacon to be cooked extra crispy and that was ignored.

I don't know what was better- my breakfast wrap or Jake. What a RARE experience it was- a super friendly, funny, well-rounded chef and cafe owner he was. I loved how he had photos of his family and their accomplishments all over. What a proud father and husband he is and that made the experience all more special. I was flabbergasted at how he was able to keep up a great conversation while cooking, making change, and helping others and welcome new customers. This guy is extremely talented and ambitious. This place is a MUST when visiting Springfield. CASH ONLY* read more

'Don't look at the menu, listen to your heart' may not be what you expect to hear at a diner, but nonetheless that was what Jake invited me to when taking my order for a vegetarian omelette, with potatoes and coffee! Jake is what makes City Jake's Cafe unique, but I have been here twice and the breakfast has always been excellent too. You'll get change from $10 after tax and tip. If you're in Springfield then you should come here for breakfast. read more

The food here is excellent. You get a ton of food (eggs, French toast, potatoes) for under $10. The owner is a character and will talk your ear off (if he's not too busy taking orders at the counter, taking orders on the phone, or cooking). He has a ton of his fishing trophies (his true love) on the walls. But for the love of God, don't talk politics with him. He's got his favorite political TV station blaring on the lone television so you know what he believes. read more

Great little Dive joint in the heart of town, food was old school but hot and what the doctor ordered.

I was pleasantly surprised- don't let the outside fool you! Clean. Great Coffee. Awesome homefries. The super friendly owner made me an Omelette as requested that was not on the menu. 3 eggs loose with Sausage, Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers, and Cheddar Cheese.....Bam!!!! So good! Homefries was so delicious there was no need for ketchup. Low price for the value. read more

Very good diner food at extremely reasonable prices! I got three eggs, toast, corn beef hash, potatoes, French toast and a bottomless cup of coffee for $10! You've got to be kidding me!
