This is my first time dining in the Paso Robles area, I don't usually like to eat by myself when I go out to eat, but tonight I did. And I'm really glad I did! My server's name was April and she was absolutely amazing, the hostess was very kind and caring, and even the other people were very sweet. Despite me eating by myself, I didn't feel so lonely! The hospitality was on point and the service was impeccable! The food was absolutely delicious and the meat on those ribs pulled off the bone perfectly . You could come here with your family or even by yourself and still have a good time! I'm really glad that I chose to come and thank you April for giving me an amazing time! We never tried Cool Hand Luke's so we thought we'd stop in for dinner. They have a very limited beer and wine selection, none of which appealed to me, so I drank water. The salads were fine and the ribs and prime rib were good. The overall feeling I got was that the restaurant needed a deep cleaning, nothing in particular was dirty, just the result of serving so much smoked/grilled meat over time. Service was cordial and efficient. Not sure if we'll be back. read more

One star and that's being kind....I wish I could give negative. After a long drive from Orange County to Paso Robles all we were looking for was a delicious meal to end our night and start our weekend getaway off to a great start. Unfortunately we picked the wrong spot. Cool Hand Lukes sounded like they would be a great place for a steak. The reviews weren't great, but we thought...let's give it a try maybe they were just having a bad day. We should have listened. One yelper had stated in a review the place looked like it needed a deep cleaning and boy does it. I saw dust and cobwebs everywhere. We sat in a booth that would accommodate maybe 4-6 people but I had to scooch all the way in because there was a giant tear in the seat and I didn't want to sit in the hole! I ordered the steak bites which came in a skillet with baby bella mushrooms. This was actually pretty good, the toast it was served with was a bit cold but the steak and mushrooms had great flavor although a lot of the steak pieces were kind of burnt so I didn't get much food for $38. My husband on the other hand ordered a filet mignon medium and when it arrived it was well done. We aren't ones to complain and send food back but he pointed it out to the waiter who asked well you can keep that steak and I'll give you a discount or I can bring you a new steak. We don't care much about the cost. We will pay for a great meal happily. My husband just wanted to enjoy his meal. He asked for a new steak. The "new" steak came out medium RARE, it was also stringy. I am not sure how a filet can even be stringy but this was. My husband also said the steak tasted "off" like it was old or maybe just at the point where the meat was about to turn. He was so grossed out that that officially ended our night there. We asked for the bill. Our waiter, Alex, who must have seen our faces and my husband's plate let us know he gave us a discount. 20%, which was nice of him but I wish he had paid more attention to the food he was bringing out to us from the kitchen. You would think a place charging $50 for a steak would ensure the meat is quality and its being cooked to your preference. My husband, who is a steak and potatoes man all the way, said this was by far the WORST steak he had ever had. He in fact, felt a bit ill all weekend and blamed the little bit of steak he had eaten for this. We would not ever come back to Cool Hand Lukes and honestly are a bit surprised a place with somewhat abysmal reviews in still in service. Came here for a late night dessert run. The Mile High Chocolate Cake was so delicious, incredibly moist, decadently chocolate without being too dense in your mouth. Would get again. The whipped cream was nice and thick not the thin consistency spray from a bottle type. The strawberry pie was addicting to eat because of the fruity strawberry but this probably had the lowest execution as the body of the strawberry pie was not cream cheese or custard but a light texture mix of the two. The strawberry syrup was a tad bit thin and artificial in consistency. The cookie was yummy but not very well made. It was thick, hardened butter cookie. The blend of the ice cream saved it. I wouldn't get the cookie or strawberry pie next time and they're both equals in my eye so if you're deciding between the two just go for presence of the day. read more

We sat in the bar area and were served by Tina. She did a great job making recommendations. We started with her HH bacon wrapped shrimp. The HH menu offers great food and drink specials all day. We shared a rib/steak combo that came with salad, bread, beans, and broccoli. The bread comes from a local bakery. The beans are made in house. In my opinion: Great greeting from staff on arrival. Second time here within a year. Prices high for what you get on their early bird specials. Tiny tiny piece of steak and potato. And steak was tough. Off night? I was not impressed last time I was here either when I ordered a full meal. Salad with Tri tip was ok size on early bird special. Tritip steak on salad was cold and tough. Left overs?? Why are the sides not listed on the special? Wait staff could not list them. Early bird menu has item that they no longer serve. Hey...take a black marker and cross it out. If you no longer serve it...why did the wait staff not know until 15 minutes (or more) after all our orders were placed? Hey... you all that comment on better steak houses in the area...where are they? Cuz I wanna know. Hoping if I go back...I can update review to something better. My tri tip was COLD and so was my Bake Potato, it was so cold the butter wouldn't even melt! I returned the whole meal and ate a roll and beans instead. The onion bloom was great! That was my favorite. My wife had the Whiskey Steak and it was tender and delicious. I had the rib eye and it was pretty good but not as tasty as my wife's steak. It was on the thin side and some parts were a little chewy. For the price it is not bad. The service was good and the waitress was very nice and provided good service. The environment is the same as what you would expect from other Luke's. It is a chain. Overall I was satified with our experience. read more

I always have a good experience when dropping into the saloon. Paul, the bartender is warm and friendly. He even remembered my drink order the second time I came in, and every time since. I stopped into this restaurant to get some food to go while waiting for my car to charge (they have convenient Tesla superchargers right out front!). It was easy to order food for takeout and I really didn't have to wait that long to get my food. I opted for the California Chicken Sandwich and it was really good! She was attentive, friendly, answered any question we had. She brought out the bread and beans right away, which comes with any entree you order. The we got our artichoke hearts as our appetizer. Hot, crispy and flavorful. She brought us a sample of their chicken pot pie soup and WOW! So delicious and creamy. Would get that next time as a meal. Then tried to tell me I couldn't order it because the computer (POS) you use to put the order in won't let you Hello......Not all your customers are ignorant. You might not be working in a michelin restaurant, but you work for tips, DON'T ever call someone "Hon" or "Mame" Not only is it disrespectful, but sounds nasty and condescending. Since you're the trainer for your store it might be a good idea to U-tube how to be a server in a sit down restaurant. Bringing the bill before the table is done eating, is rude. Went here with a friend, we both got the luke's western ribeye, both of our steaks were really undercooked we didn't even care to eat them. Staff also wasn't soo great, they weren't the worst but they obviously didn't care to acknowledge that we didnt't enjoy our steaks one single bit. My husband and I love going to the bar for a drink. We've been doing so for years, and the service we've received from the servers has been magnificent. Unfortunately, the last two times we've been to the bar, the waitress named Megan is waiting on customers and, for some reason, ignores us and doesn't serve us. She walks by our table, and we feel like ghosts because she doesn't serve us. The strange thing is that she's just looking at us. We have to get her attention all the time to ask for something. Because she doesn't have the courtesy to ask if we need anything. Celebrated Father's Day with another great meal, great service and great atmosphere at Cool Hand Luke's in Paso Robles. We sat out on the patio and even though it was warm outside it was quite comfortable. Our bartender/server Paul was the best. He took our order made our drinks just like we love them served up our meal as ordered overall I give him 10 Stars but they only let me choose five. Please give him a raise as he always provides exceptional service and is the best bartender around. We ordered 3 old fashioneds which should have bees easy, but they were actually different colors, not consistent. 3/4 of the meals were unacceptable, from overcooked shrimp to poor salads. My dinner was good, Salmon with broccoli and a darden salad. Server was good. Lastly, they had booked a seminar in the next room. The speaker was so loud, that we had to move to another table. We were greeted right away by Lupita's warm and welcoming smile and she sat all 5 of us in a well lit section. She gave us ample time to settle in and browse the menu. We did order the onion blossom appetizer and our table was hoping it would've been a bit more crunchy and vs the batter sliding off the onion. We all loved our entrees, the fresh bread, the steaming hot beans, and the great drinks. I love Luke's! This place is my family's go to place. Paul provides amazing service with a smile. The food is delicious, for the price you can take the whole family out without breaking the bank. I'm partial to the Saloon side but I've heard the restaurant is great too! The Happy Hour menu is the best in town. The atmosphere is friendly, warm and welcoming.
