Surprisingly, this place isn't that expensive, despite the prime location and media exposure from Al Roker's show that was on food network or the travel channel. Apparently, his favorite was their ice cream cookie sandwich, which was about $5. While they have the usual ice cream parlor offerings, ice cream topped with different types of raw cookie dough is their flagship. If you're not sure which combination to try, to your left is a list of recommend combinations by the manager and staff, so I got a small cup of Zanzibar flavor (3 types of African cocoa) topped with turtle cookie dough all for around $3.28 and its plentiful for a small size, they weren't skimpy on piling it high. read more

I feel bad that I can't give this place more stars, especially since everyone seems to be high on this thing. I just don't get the appeal. After a few bites I felt sick, it's like overkill or something. It felt monotonous. Having said that, I am not a person who ever eats raw Pillsbury cookie dough at home either. I'd rather have real ice cream anyday. I guess I could've given 3 stars but the place needs much more improvement in my opinion. The inside is half-a** for a place touting a unique product. They need to work on painting the walls or something. The kids behind the counter seemed like stoners because they would just stare at us as we checked out the menu. Pretty good as is, but could improve in two ways: 1. Offer a smaller size. 2. Put the cookie dough under the ice cream, or mix them (maybe they would do this if you asked; I'm not sure. But my friends and I feel like that would make it a little easier to eat). Also a cup of water would help because eating something super sweet like this will make you thirsty. That said, I got the espresso almond fudge ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough, and it was delicious! The little bowl was filled with ice cream and then a huge scoop of cookie dough was stuck on top. There was so much cookie dough that it took me a while to get to the ice cream (which is why I think mixing it would be nice). I just wish it was smaller because I couldn't finish it and felt bad throwing it away! Raw cookie dough might be one of my favorite foods, so the fact that I can barely imagine finishing the smallest size should really tell you something. This isn't your typical ice cream shop...they add a scoop of cookie dough on top of the ice cream of your choice! Very unique concept and tons of ice cream and cookie dough flavors to choose from. My boyfriend, who usually hates sweets, likes this place (but orders just the ice cream without cookie dough). We usually get the small, but even that's too much for us - will go for the kid size next time. They give you a choice of ice cream (in my head I pretended it was fat free frozen yogurt) first (choose between small medium or large) and then you choose a cookie dough flavor- I picked birthday cake ice cream and fudge brownie cookie dough-YUM!! If you didn't know it was there, you probably wouldn't go in because there are a variety of commercial ice cream stores in downtown Naperville. However, they combine the best ingredients and it's certainly the place to go. I always get the turtle cookie dough and sometimes ice cream. Be careful, it's very rich. You don't need more than a small because the portions are generous. While there isn't a lot of seating inside, the riverwalk is right near the restaurant, so you can just go there. I used to go here all the time when I lived in Naperville. For a fourth grader, a place that serves cookie dough is basically heaven. But they have ice cream too! I forced my boyfriend to go back with me when we were in the area this weekend. I got the M&M cookie dough and my boyfriend got blueberry cheesecake ice cream. They gave him the wrong order first, but were extremely apologetic and we ended up with two ice cream cones! The portions are huge, so we had bit off more than we could chew with a cup of cookie dough and two ice cream cones. But it was all delicious! The cookie dough was a little too sweet; my fourth grade self can't believe I just said that. Next time I would get the cookie dough on top of ice cream, to cut it just a bit. The service was decent--one of the guys working seemed to be a pretty big jerk, but other than that, no complaints! read more

This place used to have great ice cream, from The Chocolate Shop Wisconsin. When the new owner took over he went cheap on the ice cream taste like ice cream you would get at Aldis. The cookie dough is not a good quality any more. You can make the cookie dough at home just don't put eggs in the batter. By the way the owner also owns the bar next door Peanuts!!! Ridiculously indulgent- meant in a good way! We were asked if it was our first visit ( which it was), and then greeted enthusiastically and given a summary of their decadent offerings. The cookie dough topping was very rich and had great texture. The ice cream was creamy and flavorful, and there were some unique flavors. The cookie dough cookie sandwich is incredible and truly big enough for 2. And the decor reminded me of classic ice cream parlors I visited as a child. A long long time ago.... when there were only two public high schools in Naperville, so this is the time before the Red Mango moved by the river walk, before the Barnes and Noble came to downtown, before the giant phallus looking thing was erected next to NCHS, there was Cookie Dough Creations. This is the place where high school and middle school kids took their loved ones and professed their love to each other while chowing down on a mix of cookie dough and ice cream. I love this place. When I first walked in there was this terrible smell. A bit like an old shoe/sewage. When you look into the back room where they prepare all the food it looks like they haven't cleaned the space in a really long time. It was a weird vibe but I was pretty sure the food would make up for it. Uhhh yeah, it didn't. The food reeeally didn't make up for it. We got a half dozen cookies and only one of them didn't have a funky taste. The cookie dough itself (cookie and cream) has a similar aftertaste to the smell I caught in the store. Will never go back. The ice cream was just ok but the cookie dough was great. Portions are adequate and he large could feed an entire family. However, the service could not be any more unpleasant. They act like they were doing you a favor by serving you and could not muster up a smile to save their lives. Best frosted sugar cookie I've ever had in my life. Unfortunately they are NEVER in stock. I have been there 4 separate times in the past month and each time they were sold out. Doesn't matter if it's noon, 7pm, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, they are never there. What do I have to do? Call ahead and make a reservation?
