Delicious ice cream for the whole family! (family sold separately)
Eric S.

LICK IT UP This ice cream parlor in downtown Downers Grove appeals to all generations. The cleverly-named Every Day's A Sundae has a home just north of the train tracks on Main St between Gia Mia & Sushi House. There's another location in downtown Hinsdale, also near a BNSF train station. Commuters on the Metra must love getting ice cream after work. Inside, there's seating for 15-20 people plus a couple benches outside. They stock Sherman's ice cream, a beloved place based out of South Haven, Michigan that I've been to several times (I can attest that it's the real deal and not an impostor). They have frozen bananas and icees in addition to over 40 flavors of hard scooped ice cream. I got a single scoop of the "chocomania" ($4) and it was great. Our 4yo loved his simple yet satisfying vanilla cone w/sprinkles ($5) and our toddler enjoyed a few spoonfuls of my wife's birthday cake cone ($4). The young staff were good about free samples and kept a brave face despite a gaggle of screaming kiddos. * TL;DR * You better finish that thing before it melts! If you haven't yet gone out for an ice cream cone so far this season (or dish, I don't judge), what are you doing with your life?? It's been sweltering for weeks, but a double scoop of Mackinac Island Fudge or Traverse City Cherry can properly cool things down. Young kids -- and the young at heart -- flock to Every Day's A Sundae when the weather gets hot, so expect a crowd and/or wait on evenings between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Prices are reasonable and there's lots of flavors to pick from, so swing on by before summer's gone!

Value of the scoops is there! A scoop is $3.75, and there are some 35 or more flavors to choose from. French silk was a hit! Can't say I've found that flavor anywhere else. The staff was friendly, and they get their ice cream from somewhere in Michigan. Overall, we enjoyed experiencing this novel ice cream place while in the area for a trampoline play date.

Strawberry Shake

A delightful little drive by ice scream shop, where you can grab your sweet treat! Stop by if you grab food in the area and need an ice-cold dessert. They offer shakes, smoothies, etc as well if you do not want a just a mere scoop. The strawberry shake was sweet and delicious and quite thick; all you can ask for. Got a couple scoops of different ice creams and nothing disappointed.

Great service and a nice treat for our warm summer days We ordered three flavors , there was the orange cream , blue moon which we couldn't quite figure the flavor out but it was tasty and the cookies and cream that we are now fans of. It all tasted so wonderful and when you walk in and get hit by the wonderful aroma of the waffles being cooked, it's hard saying no to trying one. Overall satisfied and will definitely be back. There's a couple of benches out but sufficient standing spots and seats on the inside to enjoy your ice cream

Super hardworking staff. Made sure orders were getting out quickly even when busy. Delicious ice cream.

Glad they gave me a spoon lol!!

Was waiting for the metra train and decided to get some ice cream... it's 97° out. Ordered the peanut butter cup sundae. It was basically a ton of vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce and chocolate syrup. The smallest amount of actual peanut butter cups was also present. In all actuality the sundae wasn't so bad! The part that really disappointed me was the spoon they gave me. It was literally like trying to eat ice cream with a wet noodle. If you're going to serve ice cream that can be eaten with a spoon how about you spend .03 cents more per spoon and give us something we can easily consume the products we just purchased from you!

Amazing Banana split! You get to choose the flavors and toppings!!!

Great icecream and even better customer service! I have a nut allergy. Pretty severe. And we ordered a bomb banana split! Three icecreams. The server made sure to pull out new icecream from the freezer and three scooters for our split! Time consuming and needed a strong arm! Great job!!! And the sundae was very aesthetically pleasing and so yummy! They let you choose three different toppings will be returning!

Chocomania & Grasshopper (hard to tell but it really is green)

Usually enjoy their ice cream but it can be hit or miss. I've had freezer burned ice cream before and that's sad.

None of the ice cream looked fresh and the flavor I got was freezer burned. Also, the inside of the shop looked pretty dirty.

Just ok. They do have a good selection of ice cream and it…read moretasted good. I felt $7.49 for a single scoop hot fudge sundae was a little much but maybe it's inline with other ice cream places. My daughter did not like the strawberry banana smoothie she ordered. The young lady who helped us was cordial but not particularly friendly. The other girl behind the counter spent almost the entire time we were there (we ate our ice cream at a table inside) chatting with a female customer who she obviously knew. I also accidentally tipped my cup over at the register and about half of my whipped cream fell out onto the counter. I told the young lady who served us what happened, apologized and tried to clean it up a bit with some napkins. She only mentioned she could clean it - in hindsight it would have been nice if she had offered to give me a bit more to replace what I lost but that never happened. When she was done charging us, she then came out from behind the counter and sat and chatted with another third young lady who was there (possibly another worker?). It just gave an unprofessional vibe and I do wish more adults in businesses would provide the young adults with some guidance and lessons in good customer service within the hospitality industry.

Good going Hinsdale! For years there was no ice cream shop downtown and after a lot of residents…read morerequests, Every Day's a Sundae opened here (last year I think?). And this shop is awesome!! They have a lot of flavors that can be eaten in cups, waffle/sugar/or plain cones, or in the form of shakes/malts. They also have banana splits, traditional sundaes, and floats/sodas. Plus other treats like gourmet popcorn and chocolate dipped bananas. The inside is decorated so cute! It's painted vintage lavender-pink and white. There are cute photos and a mural on the wall depicting the Sherman's ice cream they serve which provides a modernly executed old-fashioned charm. I liked the vintage ice cream wrapper puzzle framed on the wall (pictured.) We loved the ice cream. What they do right with their product is the wide selection of flavors. Lately Oberweiss has severely limited their selection (a lot of places have....category management was the necessity of the past decade). But it's ICE CREAM! When you go out, into downtown Hinsdale no less, you have come to expect greatness, gourmet, top-of-the-game kind of food situations. This assortment of flavors, cones, toppings, etc. brings that essence to the going out for ice cream experience but doesn't toss out the folksy soda-shop charm that goes so well with it (and doesn't make it feel forced, either.) This business so gets all of that. Nice job!
