Most definitely my favorite ice cream shop in downtown Wheaton. Everything about it is 5 stars. The inside offers a few tables for indoor seating and there are a few chairs and benches directly outside. Staff members are consistently kind and friendly. Even in the top prime hours of the summer, they are always calm and patient. My most recent visit I sampled the coffee toffee crunch and the Aztec chocolate. Both are delicious but I decided to go with the coffee toffee crunch. Their ice cream is rich and creamy and oh so delicious! I'm so glad I decided to try this ice cream! The flavor was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered the peanut butter flavor, and it was absolutely delicious. They offer a great variety of flavors, so there's something for everyone. The prices were also very reasonable, making it an even better treat. It's got a nice little retro feel. Lots of little kids with their grandparents coming in and out. They have a nice variety of ice creams however we ended up with their sorbets. They give you samples to taste test and we ended up getting a scoop of their Mango/Green Tea Sorbet and their Mango/Berry Sorbet. There was just the perfect amount of matcha in the the Mango/Green Tea and the Mango/Berry was so good - I was hoping that I would've been able to take home a pint - but only ice creams were in the fridge at the time. Kimmer's Ice Cream is a place I could easily call home. From the moment I stepped in, it was clear why this spot was bustling--the ice cream is truly one-of-a-kind and absolutely delicious!!! The inside was nice and clean too, which is a plus. They had some seating in the front, but we chose to eat outside since it was a beautiful night. The staff went above and beyond, greeting us warmly and generously letting us sample multiple flavors before making our choices. Which was hard, since they were all sooo good! I'm at a loss for words. The smell here alone would get me to come back again. When I walked into this pink, Instagrammable ice cream shop, I was hit with the smell of fresh sweetness. It's bigger than it looks from the outside, and it's completely decked out in the color pink! Which is my fav color, so you already know I was obsessed. The employees were SO sweet! I came shortly after they opened and no one was here. They have soooo many unique flavors, I'm definitely going to be back to try more. We haven't taken our almost 2 yr daughter out much since the pandemic but took a chance on her and brought her to this place - it was the perfect place (definitely great if you don't have kids with you also!). I truly enjoy the ice cream there were so many choices to choose from I did not know which one to choose from. The manager at the kimmers was so helpful and I try just the orchata I did wanted the Aztec chocolate one but I end up having butter pecan my favorite. Although there's not a lot of indoor seating area, the locals really just order up stuff and walk around this quaint neighborhood area. The staff was super friendly and took the time to entertain all of my tasting requests. I ended up ordering Parent Trap and Oatmeal Cookie ice cream. Boy, oh boy, did I pick the right flavors! Both were just perfectly sweet and creamy and perfectly sized! The Oatmeal Cookie ice cream is the amalgam of cookie crunch and ice cream soft and sweetness. MUST HAVE! The Parent Trap is ribboned in chocolate and peanut butter perfection. At less than $5 per single scoop, paired with a million tingles from your taste sensation, perfectly scooped in to a chocolate dipped waffle cone, your taste buds will want to pay more. =) 2 flavors down, 23 more to go. Stopped in to Kimmer's for the first time tonight. I have mixed feelings. They have 2 types of ice cream. Gourmet or Classic. The gourmet is apparently made with more natural ingredients and takes more time to make. The other is probably your typical ice cream parlor stock stuff. Didnt try it. Between the 2 of us, we tried the Reese's royale and the cake batter. With peanut butter and hot fudge toppings. The Reese's was tasty, with little chunks of chocolate and Reese's filling throughout. I wish I'd also gotten Reese topping. I would get again for sure. The cake batter on the other hand...tasted fake, or just off. As if they used a chemical flavoring, thay does not taste like cake batter. If you are used to Coldstone's cake batter....then you will be disappointed. I have not found a cake batter that beats theirs yet. I'm sure we will be back again. I definitely want to give more of their flavors a try. read more

I've mostly visited since the pandemic started, so I'm not sure if they had this big a selection of pints before - usually they have the standards plus a couple of more unusual/seasonal flavors (gingerbread, etc.) - there are probably three cases of pints, and a selection of ice cream cakes. I've given up trying to figure out their website and visit in person. What differentiates Kimmer's from either of the other two ice cream shops downtown is the fanciness of the flavors and the overrun. (And yeah, they do sparkle cones.) Essentially you're paying for more ice cream and less air, so you may need to sit your pint out at room temperature for a few minutes for it to get scoopable. There are dairy-free options, in addition to fancy flavors like Eggnog Cheesecake or lemon-raspberry sorbet. Excellent quality ice cream in interesting flavors, plus standards for the traditionalists and the kiddies; kind of pricey (a pint is $6; a kiddie scoop is $4.25) but mostly worth it - I'm not sure if samples are still available; if so might be a good idea before plunking down $6 for a flavor because it sounds interesting. read more

This place has easily turned into our ritual dessert stop when visiting or eating in downtown Wheaton. Their abundance of flavors from traditional to unique is sure to please anyone in the group. The Butter Pecan is amazing and seems to be my go to despite the options abound. Kids seem to love the sparkle cones, which is just one item this place is known for. Grab a cone/cup/sundae and have a seat inside or right outside on one of the benches. A place that will easily become your tradition too. We got coconut ice cream in a cone with hot fudge and Black Forest ice cream in a cup. The coconut ice cream had some shredded coconut, but very little coconut flavor. It ended up being messy because the hot fudge was dripping everywhere. My wife didn't like the Black Forest at first, but then started liking it. The interior is nice enough, albeit small. However, there's seating outside and this area doesn't have crazy traffic like downtown Naperville. Glad I tried it, but the ice cream isn't anything super special. Certainly not bad, though. Being a hot day, I was more in the mood for something fruity, so I gave the Arnold Palmer Sherbet a try. As I was preparing to order, I noticed they were offering these completely adorable waffle cones with glittery sprinkles and knew I had to have one. These were both very good life choices, and the sherbet was delicious and refreshing. I was intrigued by the OLIVE OIL and SALT (!) flavor - it was actually quite delicious and didn't taste like frozen EVOO! I was craving chocolate, though, and ultimately ended up going with the Oreo and Cheesecake. I liked the combo of both Oreos and creamy cheesecake pieces. Our total for my (giant!) scoop in a cup, a bottled water, and my friend's Salted Caramel in a chocolate dipped waffle cone was $8.50ish. Not tooo bad for a unique sweet treat! We were offered a punch card, too. Lines can build since a lot of people sample first. There are some inside tables, but it seems most eat outside.
