I haven't been to Cocomero since they first opened and I was truly blown away at how much this place has upgraded. Adorned with beautiful fig and monstera plants, it's quite welcoming and comfortable inside. A huge step up from the average frozen yogurt shop. They also offer boba and shakes and as someone who can pass on ice cream, I thought was a great add on. I see why this is such a popular spot in downtown DG. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. I asked if the Thai tea was very sweet and the cashier didn't seem to understand the question.. I asked again and just said to make it 50% sweet. Walked out with the drink and tried it, it was so disgustingly sweet it made me gag. I was just gonna leave but my husband insisted on going back in and getting it remade. He comes out with a new drink and it's just as sweet!!! If the sweetness couldn't be adjusted why didn't they just say that at the time of ordering?? The taro tea tasted more like coconut milk tea and was wayyyy too sweet and artificial tasting for my liking. You can't adjust the sweetness on these teas either. The boba itself doesn't have a horrible texture, but I don't think I'd recommend the teas in general. I've heard the frozen yogurt here is much better though. read more

It's disheartening for me to be writing this because I genuinely enjoyed my time and tea. However, today I was approached by the female worker and reprimanded for staying at their establishment for 5 hrs while studying. I'm a medical student studying for my licensing boards. And in the afternoons I come here, as a treat, to change my study environment. It was hurtful to hear the worker tell me there was a library down the street and that this wasn't a cafe. I have been coming here for over a year to get boba and study. This is my disclaimer for all those that are considering frequenting this establishment, there is a unwritten time limit, if you're not a teenager or younger this place is not welcoming of your kind. Definitely a really nice spot. The vibe is really calm and there are a few games and books out that you are welcome to use. Can come to study, chit-chat with friends, or personally to sketch and draw. My family and I have gone multiples times. The froyo is okay, but I'm a bit spoiled in froyo coming from southern California where froyo reigns supreme. It seems to be a bit more expensive than what I'm used to... I got a cup with just froyo (no toppings) and it ended up being over $5. I know in other places I've been, that exact same cup would have been less than $4 (I'm really good at measuring/eye balling froyo weight). I also didn't like that they don't give you sample cups. For fro-yo, this is my go-to place. I used to drive to the location in Oswego but this place is much closer! The options for flavors aren't expansive... they have like 10ish flavors total but I actually prefer Cocomero's flavors to places like TCBY because they're not insanely sweet. Beware that there are no sample cups (the manager temporarily removed them because kids were coming in and eating tons of yogurt for free during the summer) but if you ask nicely, the employees will allow you to sample flavors before you fill up your fro-yo cup. I'm a fan of the original tart and the fruit flavors (pineapple and strawberry). It tastes like a tropical drink! There are tons of topping options including fruit, mochi, chocolate, wafers, brownies, marshmallows, sauces and candy. Prices are competitive with other fro-yo places but I prefer the flavors here way more. read more

I want to give myself 5 stars for making the greatest desert ever but I can't take all the credit. The selection of toppings was amazing. I haven't been to a place with more toppings. If you want to make the greatest desert ever then get French vanilla yogurt with 2 brownie pieces, some chocolate chips and Ghirardelli caramel. The brownies are the secret ingredient. If you want to be impress some guess at your house then just fill a couple cups full of the brownies on your way home from work. My hand had scones ripped of, a very kind employee helped me put on a bandage and has remembered me every time I've been in she has remembered me. I'm new to this whole neo-froyo thing. I mean, back in the 90s we used to hit up TCBY in our acid-washed jeans and have ourselves a waffle cone, but I'd never before been to one of these fancy "DIY" places. I gotta say, I'm a fan. We stopped in on a lovely Saturday and you bet your bippy it was busy. If there's one thing I could change, it would be all of the kids milling about in a totally disorderly fashion in front of the various dispensers, but oh well, kids are kids. They weren't completely obnoxious. Anyway, we managed to check the flavors out and I made a beeline for the Red Velvet Cake because YES PLEASE. The good and bad here is that you are responsible for your own creation: if you hate it, it's your own dang fault. I added cheesecake chunks, white chocolate chips and a little vanilla drizzle to mine. Husband made his own creation with the Cake Batter flavor. We just wanted a little treat, but I'm lousy at estimating weight, so I was a bit worried we'd end up paying $$$ for our frozen concoctions, but they were a smidge over $5 with tax. Sweet. And I gotta say, my creation was delightful. It's definitely appealing to be able to choose the exact kind and amount of yogurt and toppings you want, and the flavors were great. The toppings seemed to be about half fruit/healthier stuff and half candy-related, not the hugest selection but more than adequate. The storefront is bright and cheery and while we ate outside (how about a few sidewalk tables?) it seems very comfy to eat-in if you're so inclined. The only thing more fun than eating frozen yogurt or ice cream is being able to add your own toppings. Sure, Coldstone has been doing that for quite some time now, but I don't get a kick out of hearing the "ice cream designers" sing a song and try to make folding Oreo cookies into ice cream look cool. I also really loathe having to say "Can I have the 'love it' size?" Medium! It's medium! Anyway, Cocomero takes all of that nonsense away and leaves you with the fun of doing it all yourself. There are several frozen yogurt machines with different flavors such as New York Cheesecake, Red Velvet, French Vanilla, etc. There are cups next to the machine for you to use when you finally choose your flavor. The cups are pretty big so that you can decide how much you want. Of course, that can get a little dangerous because you'll be like "I want it all!", so pace yourself because they charge by weight. I opted for French Vanilla so that I can load up on toppings and not have the flavor of the toppings and the ice cream compete with each other. I then headed over to the toppings station and put some strawberries, blueberries, cookie dough, sprinkles, and gummy bears on my frozen yogurt. The yogurt was delicious and mixing the toppings in was fun and made the yogurt more enjoyable. The environment inside is pretty modern and hip (yes, I just said hip). I'll definitely be back, though I could do without hearing Taylor Swift sing about her 28th boyfriend as I eat my frozen yogurt. read more

And if I had to pick a place to go for a summer stop, I prefer this over Red Mango and other froyo chains for the fact that I (not the person behind the counter) can be the one controlling how much of each flavor of yogurt and how much of each topping I want to get. One can really decide how healthy to make the combo and how much to spend (you're charged at the end, depending on the weight of it). I had a some of the non-fat choices with tart pomegranate and creamy French Vanilla with a ton of juicy berries, sweet mango, crunchy chopped nuts and little squirt of chocolate syrup. But my friend went for the more indulgent options of low-fat dutch froyo with brownie and cookie crumble for her toppings. It's a cute and cozy atmosphere to chill out in too because of the spinning white tables, varied seating with couches and chairs, and bright green accents. read more

The yogurt here is decent - the toppings OK, but the way they have it laid out invites chaos. Inevitably there is always a scrum to get which flavor yogurt - no line and then another scrum at the toppings bar...it just leads to a lot of hostility and bad feelings - thinking one person 'cut in' or jumped the line, etc...so, it makes it really an Ayn Rand style desert experience. This place is NOT closed. It was only closed for a couple months. I'm assuming it was for the winter season. I've been coming here for the past three years and have never received bad service. I tried to apply to work here a year or two ago but the owner never contacted me about an application (since they were out that day), but the new management is very nice. They seem very passionate about keeping the place clean and making it a friendly environment. These workers deserve so much respect. I highly recommend coming here. I am a big fan of the original tart flavor with lots of fruits and brownies :) realistically, this establishment is a competitor in the fro-yo market but what distinguishes them is coffee. They brew Intelligentsia with a pour over option - reasonably progressive for the burbs. Although my "barista" didn't look super knowledgable in coffee, I give them credit for carrying and selling high quality Chicago roasted beans. Additionally, I did notice that the store was very clean. Always a plus. read more
