Five star ice cream is worth up to one hour each way drive. So stop in but I wouldn't travel more than a 20 minutes out of the way. It's very expensive for the quality. Naperville portions are clearly marked and adequately generous. There's nothing wrong. I'm just really picky with ice cream with an extremely high bar. Service was fast and very kind. Upon entering, I got a toothache from the smell alone. This confectioner sold a variety of sweets but the caramel Granny Smith apples immediately caught me eye. Sitting in a plastic case, these apples looked freshly made. I had to buy two caramel apples with nuts. I'm glad I did. One of the best tasting caramel apples I've ever had. Very normal options like a cup, cone or waffle cone/bowl - even a waffle stick that looks fun for kids. Very small inside and no seating. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy outside on the sidewalks. Can NOT complain on my first visit I visited Chicago about a month ago and they were in phase 3 already and just peeked thru the window to see how I felt. Now I am out and about with my family. Four of us left satisfied even tho we only ordered 1 scoop. We could have shared two ice-cream between the four of us but since Covid has restricted us we spent $24 to satisfy our craving on a hot day. My Dad walked in and wanted an icecream cake. The wife and I went again and got our own scoops. Still good, still expensive. I asked for toasted coconut, but ended up with chocolate toasted coconut; that's okay, since I liked it last time. Ice cream is decent but the manager was so rude and they were giving out very small scoops. When you are paying $10 for a cup of ice cream, you would think it would at least reach the top of the cup. First time trying this location and, I was fairly pleased for the most part. They have a nice variety of ice cream, and their cones/bowls etc. are prepared fresh which is always a plus. I tried the Strawberry Bon Bon's, and the cashew turtles which were pretty good as well. They're a little expensive for the pounds, vs. the size of the chocolate. I was surprised to not have the same happy experience that I have known and to have expected. The first time I went into Kilwins was to make sure they had a product I was looking for for a gift. I popped in, was stared at by 3 employees, felt their conversation stopped by me stopping in and then continued once I was fully in the store. I walked around and found the product I was looking for. And then I left. NOT ONE SINGLE WORD WAS SAID TO ME. Not a "hello!"or a "Welcome!" or a "Can I help you with finding something?" So I thought, maybe it was a weird night. But then, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. So this can't be just an rarity, it must be the establishment. So with this being said, to the company Kilwins : find employees that represent your company and your mission. If your company is unwelcoming and rude, then keep doing what you're doing. But I have a feeling that a quick conversation with your employees on how to make the costumer feel welcomed, will go A LONG way! read more

The chocolate and ice cream are outstanding & nicely priced! The fudge is actually made in store by employees - if you're there at the right time, you can catch them making the fudge while shopping around! The sea-salt caramel is my favorite! Kilwins also does custom orders for birthdays, anniversaries etc. I had ordered special chocolate pretzel rods and chocolate covered Oreo's for a birthday party & they turned out great! I plan on doing another custom order around the holidays. Rachel, the owner, is always at the store. You might confuse her with a regular employee because she helps with all the scooping, chocolate making and check outs - she is very involved with the store and is hands on! This is our favorite and I am so glad they opened one in Naperville. We would always go to Wheaton during weekends and summer to enjoy the ice cream. Friendly staff, fun variety of flavors, and nice location. I will be back and recommend this place. We took my son here after dinner on a family date night. He was walking up to the store telling me how he wanted blue ice cream. When we got there, they actually had blue ice cream! He got a small scoop of Blue Moon (it was slightly fruity and vanilla; but different from dreamsicle). I had a chocolate peanut butter. The one thing to think about here is that the store is small. Like my family of 3 plus a family of 5 ahead of us basically filled up the store. If you have a stroller with you and you can leave it outside the store, I recommend it.
