What began in my mind as a temple of decadent desserts has evolved beautifully. The Bistro now serves inspired French fare, Croque Monsieur and Madame, baked French onion soup, sweet and savory crêpes, and other thoughtfully prepared dishes. It's no longer just about chocolate, though let's be honest... the chocolate still reigns supreme. This time I visited with a friend and her absolutely adorable 2.5-year-old -- a tiny human with a very serious devotion to chocolate. Watching her delight in each bite might have been sweeter than the desserts themselves. Elegant, cozy, timeless. A place that manages to feel both special and familiar at once. And yes, still a little dangerous for anyone who claims they'll "just have one bite."

It was a pleasurable experience, perfect on a rainy Saturday spring day. The service was fantastic!! Starting with reservations, which was a "comedy of errors" to the moment we left. Esther's friendliness and attention to our comfort and taste elevated our experience. We started with the light, flakier tasty warm classic scones. Then we moved to the delicious, satisfying, variety of finger sandwiches - the traditional cucumber was perfectly refreshing to clean the palate before the sweet phase of our meal. In the mix there was a spinach-cheese tart which it would have been tastier served warm. I selected a violet dark tea which was lighter than I expected, perhaps it would have been stronger if would have let if brew a little longer. The assortments of pastries/sweets were delectable and mouth-watering - macaron, sponge cake, coconut chocolate drizzled macaroons, custard, and a truffle. All inviting, succulent, and scrumptious. With a small space, they've done a creative and beautiful job. This being their grand opening (second day open), people are already visiting and tasting mouth watering pastries. Cathy Bouchard, the owner, and Jody Michalski, the General Manager, greeted me with a smile and enthusiasm. The women behind the counter were helpful as they learned more about each pastry. What a delight! I was privy to a short education on the new drink that exploded with a tropical fruit taste and a hint of chocolate. You've got to try that and when they begin selling it, buy it, you won't be disappointed. They have a delectable mini key lime pie that is seasonal and to die for. Now that I got that out of the way, the owner is so so friendly. We had a Turkish coffee while deciding on which Turkish delights we would have. All of them were really good and I can't wait to go back for more. I thought the box would last us a week but it was barely half full by the time we made it home! It's such a pleasant experience and there is so much to learn if you haven't had any of these treats or the coffee (and how it's made) that it is worth the visit just for this, and the interaction with the owner, of course!
