Really cute little shop, they hire teens and they usually have a good attitude. I've had a poor experience one of the days where I was notified how they're closing in about 10-15 min... as if I was going to spend that long in a candy shop. We went again yesterday and I decided to try their super pricey chocolates, 33/lb. When I say I couldn't bite through them, I mean... I could not bite through them. They weren't cold either. They're so hard. I picked 4 different flavors and I cannot tell the flavors apart. It's because all the balls have creamy chocolate in there and I figured out that they're all the same with flavor added in the middle. I would think the hazelnut would have a single hazelnut in it or something. For something so pricey, I expected more. I would've been better off going to godiva for thar price point. Nonetheless, the variety of candy is insanity, you can get your childhood candies there and try a million others. I love Garrett's Popcorn and wish there was one closer. Stumbled across this place and was so happy to see them making some caramel and cheese popcorn! Knew I had to get some!! The bags were pre-packaged. I asked if this was still fresh, and the lady said they bagged it earlier that day. I wish they would've scooped me some from the batch they just made behind the counter. That wasn't offered to me though. I grabbed a small bag of the mix and went on my way. I couldn't wait til I made it back to my car, so I cracked it open on my walk. Let me say, this is very very very close to Garrett's. Job well done! The small mix was $5 (with tax)...Comparable to prices as Garrett's. Just wish it was as fresh! Very grateful to have found this vintage candy shop right in downtown Naperville. My husband's grandfather mentioned that he'd been having a hard time finding an old timey candy bar from his childhood (he's 91). With one call to Naper Nut & Sweets, I was able to confirm they had the candy bar in stock and they offered to hold however many I wanted for pick up. It was such an easy process to then swing in later and grab the illusive bars. Glad to know this cool shop exists and I will keep it in mind when I'm in need of some unique throwback candy in the future. This is an old school candy shop. Not the modern day glitzy neon shops that you might find in a mall. Wood flooring, well worn from the daily lines of kids over the last 30 yrs. Row upon row upon row of jars filled with colorful candies. Everything you can imagine... and then some. I keep hoping for a "Willy Wonka" moment when the storekeeper will break into song and begin throwing candy to everyone but it's never happened yet. This place really is a step back in time for me, as they carry countless candies that I haven't seen since I was a child. It seems that every time I'm here, I find yet another candy that I haven't seen in decades. --even candy cigarettes, which you almost never see anymore! If there is a half day of school or a vacation day, you can be assured that I will be here. -With my kids desperately trying to narrow down their candy possibilities to the three that they are allowed. They can smell the caramel corn for blocks. --It's Naper's secret to luring kids (and their parents) into their store. I have to be honest; it is pricey here, which is why I rate it a 4 instead of a 5. I was ringing up near some teens today who were shocked at the $3 price tag for a pack of gum. They decided they didn't want to spend that much for gum and they left. I was actually proud of them for that. --good decision! Typical candy bars here are about $1.50. When you can buy those for .75 cents at the grocery store, it does seem a little silly. The old candy bars that are near extinction are over $2, but I assume they are priced higher from their manufacturers because they sell them in such small quantities. FYI, this small local business ships thousands of pounds of caramel corn to our military troops all over the world. If my rather inflated prices for candy are also paying for a young person, who's potentially sacrificing him/her life for me, I will gladly pay the few extra bucks I know I spend here so that they can get a care package from the states. More than anything, we come here for the experience of being in an old candy shop.. Priced high or not, this store is what kids' dreams are made of. read more

I placed a order online 12/23/23 and somehow my order was received but not shipped out. I reached out to the (MOD) manager on duty and she was very friendly and apologetic. She took my name and number and actually called me back. She looked up my order and found that it hadn't been shipped out but the payment was received so she reached out to the owner and they drove all the way from Naperville to downtown Chicago and delivered my order to me personally. In my 50years of living I have never experienced this kind of customer service. I absolutely cannot say enough nice things about this store, which certainly is a reflection of it's wonderful owner. Though I'm not a Chicagoland native, I feel like family when I come in here. I'm a recipient of the owner's generous support of deployed military units. I make a point of stopping in each time I'm in Naperville to thank the people that work there and to let them know their generosity is appreciated. Beyond their philanthropy, they have great products too. They have the best chicago-blend popcorn made, full-stop. I want to start by saying I absolutely love this store! I stop in every time I come to see an old friend in town! The selection is amazing and the staff is always super sweet and helpful! I absolutely love the service provided here! The store is always clean and gives a magical and homey feeling! I was looking at the other reviews (though mostly all of them agree with me) I saw one from last night that threw me off. I was at the store last night during the time this woman came into the store. I was listening (given me and other customers didn't have a choice about not listening) to her yelling (literally) about a gummy purchase that she made and was absolutely appalled with how she treated the staff who remained nice the whole time. They told her that she couldn't do a return or exchange and even showed her on the receipt paper where it says the store policy is no returns or exchanges on food items. (I also work in food service and that's against health code to take food back, pandemic or not!) When that wasn't the answer she wanted she got really verbally aggressive with the staff and demanded new product which the employees said they could sell to her but they can't exchange or return. When she started to yell again, this time in the employees faces, they asked her to leave. She snatched the receipt from the manager's hand and stormed off saying she was taking it to the internet. This woman's behavior (for an older adult too) was absolutely disgusting and it was directed at a bunch of kids who couldn't be older than 17-25, literally HALF her age! Don't let this woman's poor character and utterly false review steer you away from this store! It really is an amazing place and the people working have always been lovely to me! read more

Walking in I thought I saw a sign for ice cream which is what brought me in but I didn't see ice cream, instead I reminisced about the candy I saw that I didn't think was made anymore. Oh Sweet Heaven, I'm still a little salty over my trip to this candy store yesterday! Normally I enjoy a little sweet and salty mixed together but not in this case. Yesterday one of my besties reached out to me to see if we wanted to hit up Naperville with them for an afternoon of fun and after I checked the weather, I was totally game for this adventure! We grabbed some lunch at Heaven on Seven (keep an eye out for my Hon7 review to come) and knew we had a few places we wanted to stop but for the most part we knew we were just gonna wander a bit. As we walked off our lunch, I realized I really needed something sweet for an after lunch dessert and eventually we came upon this little candy shop. Not much from the outside (ie. beat up hard to read signage and some chipping paint) but heck, it's a candy store, so we gotta go in! A cute shop nicely laid out with A LOT OF RULES! Here are the "rules" I know in all candy stores: don't steal. And that's it. But not here, we have many more. My gf that asked if the gummy bears are from Albanese and she was immediately told: "were not allowed to tell you that." And I got to deal with Mister Miserable running the register who yelled at me for taking photos (whoops! Didn't see any signs that said I can't, sorry!) and when I wanted to get some things out of the case (yes, small business owner, I was planning to buy quite a bit) I asked if I could taste the fudge and was told "No, you're not allowed". How do you expect me to spend $15 a LB on fudge if I can't pick out some flavors that I like? I have NEVER been to any place that sells fudge and doesn't let you taste a tiny little piece. This is how you sell your product and how you increase sales. I probably would have bought at LEAST a full pound but instead between Mister Happy and all the negativity amongst the employees, I was done after two items in the case. On a positive note, the bad attitude of your employee kept my pocketbook full and your cash drawer lighter than it could have been but for the love of all that is Holy, you people work in a CANDY STORE...have some fun with it! Welcome the shoppers, see if they need assistance since you won't let anyone touch anything, and do yourself a favor and SMILE! If you don't have customers, you don't have a job. Why do all the young people not get this? Ok I'm done now. Oh wait, no I'm not...the pricing is difficult to find in the individually wrapped candy wall so be careful to check pricing before you check out. This old fashioned candy shop has an amazing selection of candy and other nutty, chocolaty, gummy goodness. The employees are very young but all great kids that seem to take their jobs seriously and really love what they're doing... sooo refreshing! It's fun to watch the chocolate covered treats get made from the window outside and see folks who are walking their pooches stop and let their dog check out all the exciting action through the glass. The candies are sooo fun and the selection is out of this world. They have everything! It's like a fabulous trip down memory lane. Nostalgia out the wazoo! My only neg is, and this may be a personal thing, but I hate seeing all the crazy new candy that's 80% toy and 20% candy... plus it's really costly. I know kids these days love it but I remember when just getting to eat the candy was reward enough... we couldn't even fathom a toy in addition to the treat. Give it a try and prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The counter is filled with big glass apothecary jars full of bulk candy, pretty much anything you can think of. My personal picks are Mint Chip Malt Balls, Sunny Seed Drops (sunflower kernels dipped in chocolate with multi-colored candy coatings -- like a good-for-you M&M), and the fruit flavored jelly slices. Also fun: a miniature train filled with candy runs around a track near the ceiling; listen to kids in the shop (if you don't have any with you) make comments about it. I love this place! I was a bit put off by the name, but it's just amazing. There is penny candy (including some old-fashioned favorites, such as Zotz and Squirrel Nut Zippers, and some oddball items, like foil-wrapped ladybugs or penguins from Germany; ants in candy; whatever), lots of bulk candy (including Jelly Bellys, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, lots more), fudge, popcorn and chocolates. They used to carry cordials but have dropped them, noting that the shelf life was too short. All the different chocolates are available in milk, dark or white. The only problem is to order them you have to stand right in front of the door and you'll get a draft and be in everyone's way. Quite tasty and while not quite the same thing as the other place down the street, they hold their own. They pack them up nice (your choice of one of a dozen different colors of ribbon) in a pretty gold box, good for gift-giving. The pumpkin fudge is also well worth a try. Not only is this the best candy store in the Chicagoland suburbs but it may be the best in the world. A lot of candy stores have come and gone in Naperville but not this one for good reason. They have a wide selection of candy and some great homemade candy and popcorn. On top of all of that, they have a friendly staff and amazing owner who donates to the troops.
