Decided to try Cook Out for the first time. I will say they have a busy menu and for a person who's never been there, I find it a little confusing, but nonetheless, it's all good. The service at the drive-through was pretty quick and friendly. I imagine that the restaurant has a decent lobby area with an up-beat vibe. I ordered a small cheeseburger, french fries, and a soft drink. Overall, the food was decent. The fries were very good. Cookout is a chain of course but this Smyrna store always has great service and very clean interior. I have made this my lunch stop at least once a week for those reasons. For value they have a good value under $10. I always leave stuffed. The hamburgers taste like home grilled, the sweet tea is always sweet and fresh. This was our first time trying Cook Out and it was just okay. We tried the chicken sandwich, Cajun ranch chicken wrap, fries, onion rings, and the cheesecake shake. The food was just okay. The best part of the whole meal was the cajun ranch sauce in my wrap. We haven't tried out their burgers yet so maybe those are better? The experience inside was lacking to say the least. We weren't greeted or even acknowledged until we had been waiting at the counter to order. My goodness. I've never heard of this place where I used to live, but I'm so glad I did a quick yelp search for fast food. I had a long day of moving stuff from a hotel to a new apartment I moved to. It was late (around 10 pm) and I was hungry! Saw this place close to me and it opened until 3 AM. The reviews drew me to it and it didn't disappoint. I ordered 1 dollar of hush puppies and it included 12! They looked like little sausages but they were delicious hush puppies. I also asked for 2 chili dogs with mustard. I would have like a little more mustard than I was given on the hot dogs but other than that, the hot dogs were filling and delicious. Those were the only items I ordered that night but I'd like to return to taste the fries and a bacon wrapped hotdog. The service here is always great. I NEVER like to complain but this experience just bothers me so much. There's this one guy named Solom who worked the drive thru window on Sunday November 10th at 1:40am!!!! He lead me to experience the absolute worst experience in all for ever going back to Cook Out all over a simple Chicken Quesadilla that was ordered and I never received it in my cookout tray. I've never in my life experienced such disrespect over a food item that was never received. This experience was highly embarrassing and the reason why I try to avoid dealing with people at fast food establishments because their customer service skills are the absolute worst. I've had the incident where I had onion rings instead of the 2 sides I originally asked for. And the drive thru person never argued with me but this guy was completely just down right rude about a quesadilla I'm so thankful it wasn't an actual full meal who knows what he would've acted like if he's capable of acting in such way over a quesadilla to me as a guest in the drive thru. read more

The kids wanted a hamburger so we stopped by Cook Out on Sam Ridley for a quick bite. The burgers aren't bad, but they aren't Five Guys or Burger Republic. I think the best thing about this chain is that it offers a pretty good meal for a low price. Much better than McDonalds, Sonic, Checkers, or that level burger joints!!! I would still choose Burger King's Whopper over this place, but the ambience here is definitely much nicer. The benefit of Cook Out over some of the better know burger chains is that they offer some unique combo choices: a burger with Chicken nuggets, a corn dog, quesadilla, pulled pork sand, a wrap, and then you pick sides: fries, onion rings, etc. and finally a drink to go with it. The kiddos like this place because of the food. We like it for the value. But if I was in the mood for a great burger - I'd probably stick with Five Guys. OK, being from Wisconsin my goal is to eat at every Cookout I possibly can. I've now been to over 10 different locations, and I have to say, this one is as tremendous as any of the other ones. Shake upgrade was top notch, and the side orders of cheese curds and onion rings were on point. We have eaten at multiple cookouts in several states and we have the same experience at every one. If you eat inside the restaurant, everything is great. If you order at the drive thru, it's a mess. The food is pretty good for fast food. It beats the big chains hands down. The price is better, the selection of sides is great and the ability to get a shake for a small add on is excellent. BUT, when you're in the drive thru, this expansive selection seems to create lots of problems and slows the process down exponentially. Every time we go through the drive thru, something is forgotten (usually a drink). Right now, most of their dining rooms are closed so the drive thru is the only option. Just plan accordingly. When the dining room is back open...go inside and give it a try. read more

This Cook Out provided the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. The you lady that took my order appeared to be in a hurry for me to make my selection. Once my order was taken, I was charged for both a drink that I requested to be changed and for the drink I wanted. The attitude of the young lady at the window appeared as though she was irritated. I was not offered nor did I receive condiments with my order. The lack of quality and the lack of food portions was not worth the price. I will not return to a place that is not customer service friendly nor providing quality products. I went and got food from this cookout on 11/11/23 at about 2:30 am. The staff was very polite and caring but the food was not. I had received some chicken tenders and a couple of quesadillas from them and was fine until the following day. I've never had food poisoning in my life but I'm absolutely miserable now. I'm not sure what was done to the food to make me so sick but I hope this message helps them resolve whatever issues they have in the kitchen. I stopped by here around 5:30pm on a Wednesday. The place was packed. The drive thru line was long but luckily for me it moved fast. You can tell they actually grill the burgers because you can see the smoke billowing from the building. I ordered the regular cheese burger (1/4 lb) & a regular order of fries with Cajun seasoning on them. The total was $4.59. Not bad. The burger reminds me of a five guys burger, but maybe a little better. The party was fairly thick. The bun wasn't smushed like five guys usually does. The fries were good. A nice portion of food for the price. They've got a ton of milkshake options, along with some different chicken sandwiches. I was a little daunted looking at the drive thru menu as this was my first time at a Cookout. I also stopped by later that night around 12:45am as they're open till 2am durning the week & 3am Friday & Saturday. I was on my way home from working late & decided to try the chicken quesadilla. It's $2.99 & comes with two quesadillas. The chicken in it tastes like it was from a breasts that was grilled, so some of the ends can be crisp. Not bad for $2.99. My only issue with this Cookout is the staff. On the late night visit when I pulled up to the window it was apparent that I was being talked about. It's not normal for 3 staff members to peer out the window & giggle & keep looking & then talking to each other. I waited for my food after paying & almost drove off because it was so annoying. Burgers here use to be good. Stopped going here 6 months ago. Thought I would give it one more try, as you can see I ordered a double. I keep seeing the Wendy's commercial from the 80's, "Where's the beef ?" The milk shake I got was spoiled and frozen. I left a message for corporate and they called right away and are sending me vouchers for a burger and a shake, but I don't see myself going back. Also the person taking my order kept getting it wrong I had to repeat myself 3 times for the burger, 3 times for the chicken sandwich, which they got wrong. I think they were probably stoned. This place is an interesting case. I will start with the menu. Let me begin by saying that neither my wife nor I have ever been here before. The way the menu is laid out is borderline ridiculous. There's literally hundreds of options, sides, and almost TOO many different kinds of foods... sandwiches, burgers, chicken, quesadillas, hotdogs, corndogs, I could go on and on. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily, but the menu is WAYY too confusing. While the price is decent, the food received is sub-par. We opted for a $5 meal deal that came with a burger, 2 sides, and a drink. This is a good price for what is received; however, the quality of food was lacking for us. All our party's burgers were extremely overdone, borderline burnt, dry, and lacking any form of seasoning. The fries were ho-hum. I opted for a chicken quesadilla as my second side, and it was the saddest quesadilla ever. There was absolutely no actual chicken in the thing and barely enough cheese to matter. In essence, it was a lukewarm tortilla shell folded in half. My wife opted for the small cup of chili. She didn't complain, but didn't rave about it. You have to ask for ketchup, and if visiting the inside, they do not have it out at a table for sides/complements. Also, the inside is so small (only about 8 tables or so) and both the side and front doors so close, that when it is cold outside, your entire meal will be frigid before you get a chance to eat it if you stay. The only plus I can think of (other than a decent price) is that my wife said she enjoyed her chocolate shake. Go if you want, it's not an expensive meal, just be prepared for an underwhelming taste and quality experience. read more

I wish I could like, 3 1/2 star this because it's really not a full 4 stars, but eh. They're open late which is nice, I'm not sure I've ever been there before 10 pm and probably never will be. They don't have any true vegetarian entree options, but it's fast food so I don't really expect it. I usually order a BLT add cheese and bacon on the side, and proceed to feed the bacon to the stray kitties in their parking lot I always seem to see at night. Their food is inexpensive and fast. They don't have the internet trope of the shake machine being down at night, so if you're looking for late night ice cream it's a good option. I don't drink soda often, but they have Cheerwine on fountain, aaaaand they'll make it into a float for you. read more

Tonight on my way to Taco Bell I drive past cook out and said ok that sounds better, so I turned around and now wish I hadn't. This is the 3rd time I have visited this establishment and it will be the last. I got chicken wraps and was charged 11.67 when I got to the window I asked if the price had changed cause it usually is like 6 buxs. The man said I told you I was going to charge you for 3 wraps and you said ok... well yea I got 3 wraps I said there 1.65 each and I got 1 xtra strip on each. He said mam I do t understand what you want but whatever I'll take it off the price. He proceeded to take my money and I said said thank you with no response, he gave me my change and again I said thank you with no response , he hands me my food and the third time I said thank you and he literally shuts the window in my face. When I get home which is literally across the street I try to eat and the chicken is so hard I can't chew it . It was so dry that I literally took the chicken off and just ate the shell so I could get what Little bit of honey mustard there was.
