    99.5% Nice!

I don't get all the hate of this location. It's a Cook Out, not The Ritz! If you're looking for a quick and cheap lunch with pretty damn good milkshakes, you've come to the right place. This restaurant fits in well with the Albemarle strip of fast dining options on Hwy 24/27. Pulled into the drive thru and with 7 cars in front of me, I was in and out in 10 minutes. The man at the window was quick and friendly, and the order was accurate upon leaving. Burger was juicy, toppings were all fresh, especially the tomato. I do wish they would use parchment instead of aluminum foil to wrap the burgers but no biggie. I tried the banana pudding milkshake and loved it. Real 'Nilla Wafers blended into fresh bananas and a vanilla milkshake base. At 500+ calories, such a dangerous and delicious discovery! All this for under $8! The restaurant boasts a 99.5 Sanitation Score as well. I looked up the violation they had, and they lost a 1/2 point because an ice scoop was INSIDE the ice machine instead of in its designated spot (oh the humanity). Other than that they've aced 7 out of 10 inspections since they opened with 100s. Pretty dang impressive. I'd say this is a uncommonly superb value-oriented burger joint!

Burger with fries & hush puppies

Very disappointed with my meal. Received hush puppies and fries for one tray when it was supposed to be cajun fries and cheese bites. My chx strips were good but they gave me the smallest portion of cheese bites ever. Not sure if they were running low or just didn't care but that's obviously not enough.

Absolutely nasty, the chili was dry and old. After eating here I got sick. I would definitely not go back to this location.

Cool interior but with 2 drive thru lanes you get slow service for dine in. Waited over 20 minutes for our meal. Never again.

We were down by Lake Tillery on a job so this was within a reasonable distance. Love the layout and decor in the restaurant. Oh, we picked a shareable for the table and spinach artichoke dip, which was a good choice to split between three people. We still have plenty of our workday left so I opted to go with the grilled salmon and a rather unique side in Mexican street corn.. for my second side I decided to add a house salad with homemade ranch dressing. The salad was a large portion to start with in the flavor of the Mexican corn in the salmon went well together. I made a great choice. The Mexican corn was three short corn on the cobs in a long dish with sauce on top of the corn. Public house is definitely the place to be in Albert mall for lunch dinner or a private event.

We went to Five Points Public house for a weekday lunch and only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The food was good, the interior architecture is nice to look at, and we will be back. The restaurant is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. You can tell the building is old, but had been tastefully worked into a restaurant by the age on the exposed brick within. The whole front of the restaurant faces one of the main roads for downtown, and has large windows that bring in tons of natural light. This place is good for a date night, a group gathering, or anything in between. There's even some bar seating if that's your thing. Our table got the French dip and a make-your-own burger. The French dip was easily shared by my little and me, as the portion size was large. The build-your-own-burger comes exactly as you want it, cooked to your temperature preference, but I will say the patty could have had more seasoning on it. The onion rings are amazing, and the onion adheres perfectly to the batter. One thing I hope to be able to use in the future is the Pontiac Room, which is their second story event space. They have a nice sign that gives details about the space, and I truly believe it would be good for wedding receptions, large parties, or large group gatherings. I don't know if there is an elevator to this space, so you'd need to check on that should your group have mobility concerns. Overall, this is a place that we will bring the whole crew to in the future.

The inside feels like (or is?) part counter restaurant and part antiques store. I knew I had come for a hot dog and the folks behind the counter were patient while I decided on a side item, ultimately settling on onion rings. I hung out until they handed me a paper bag with my order. I had parked right out front so I didn't have far to go to enjoy my lunch. Everything (especially the onion rings) was really hot. The footlong was really good. The dog itself might have been fried and it was great to see pretty full coverage across the full dog. Onion rings were pretty greasy, as evidenced by the dark spot soaking through the paper bag. They were tasty though. I did go back in to ask for an extra couple ketchup packets. If I'm in the area, I'd return to Goody Shop cafe and try some of their other offerings.

The person on the other end of the phone said no problem. I asked how much the order would be. She said $20 something. To which I reiterated that I was only ordering the patties. She replied that she had to charge me for 3 burgers. To which I replied that I would have to cancel the order as I cannot afford to spend over $20 on lunch when I can go to Wendys and get 3 patties for 7or 8 dollars. Then she said that I should just go to Wendys and get those patties and disconnected the call. I was expecting to spend more than what it would cost me at Wendys but not over 2x as much. Then the rudeness to top it off. Disappointing... I had heard such good things about their food...

But you will be rewarded with a great meal and if you're lucky, a slice of pie too. Patience starts in the parking lot. Their lot is small, and the surrounding businesses have towing signs, so you might have to wait on a spot to open up. Luckily, we just had to circle the block once, and were graciously rewarded with a parking spot. You go inside and see yourself, even if the table hasn't been cleared yet of items from the previous patrons. It's a mix of booths and tables with chairs. We were promptly greeted by a waitress, and she cleaned the tables and took our drink orders. My table got a Charley burger (which just means the patty is larger than the regular ones), two hot dogs, and chicken tenders. The Charley burger was great. I didn't sample the hotdog, but I heard no complaints. That chicken tenders were cooked through, and deliciously crisp. After I finished my whole meal, I thought they had sweet potato pie on the menu, but unfortunately, I did not have room. When we went up to pay, I could see the pie sitting behind the checkout counter, and knew that I should have saved room.
