Pink Duck Kitchen is a local Filipino-American fusion brunch restaurant that has maintained solid Yelp ratings and recently garnered a spot on the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Top 100 restaurants of 2025. Seeing as how it's the last Henderson spot which I hadn't tried, I decided to rectify that oversight today. I was thinking breakfast at first, but the Lamb Sandwich ($17.99) caught my eye. After clarifying the form of protein with the server, I said yes to this offering. I'm glad I did because it's a stunner. To start with, the bun is nice and soft. The pulled lamb is so tender and surprisingly free from gamy flavor, and whatever it's braised in does so much work making it irresistibly tasty. Then the tzatziki creaminess, tomato umaminess, and even the banana pepper tanginess really round out the flavors. Even the cucumber slices are perfectly portioned to add some crispiness and flavor. Fries come with the sandwich. I was hesitant since they were thick and also very brown. Fortunately, they were soft and fluffy inside, and there was enough crisp from the potato skins. They were actually a little undersalted too, but when I finally flagged down the server for some ketchup, I unlocked the code. The fries are just about perfect with a healthy amount of that Heinz goodness. I did get a bite of breakfast though. My friend's Ube Pancakes ($14.99) were cited as a dish to try on that top 100 list, and I can see why. There's plenty of ube flavor, and a good balance of a lightly crispy exterior and soft interior. The fresh mango and berries were a great touch, as was the whipped cream on the side. I'll have to have a full dish for myself one day. It wasn't as packed when we arrived as I was anticipating; I guess Sunday brunch invites a late-morning crowd though, since it started filling up. Music was top 40 stuff and not too loud. Really my only issue was the water not being ice cold. I've gotta come back to Pink Duck Kitchen since they have such a fun variety on their menu and they're one of the closest interesting restaurants to my side of town. If you live across town, it's actually drive-worthy for that lambwich alone.

The waitress led us to our booth--which happened to be the absolute last booth in the building, distanced by an empty booth from every other customer in the restaurant. As the only African American person in the establishment, being shoved into the far corner left me feeling completely compartmentalized, isolated, and hidden away. It was like the restaurant version of Dirt Dancing and I'm Baby...in the corner! People should never feel like shelved categories or be socially isolated when going out to eat. The entire seating arrangement felt entirely exclusionary, uncomfortable, and unwelcoming from the start. The waitress was functional and stoic, to say the least. When she took my order, I requested a cheddar and sausage omelette with sautéed mushrooms for myself, and a plain sausage and egg patty dish for Boeba. She informed me that he wasn't allowed to eat in the restaurant--and since you can't argue with company policies, his order was set to come in a to-go box. When she returned with my food and shortly after with Boeba's, I noticed she had made unrequested alterations to his meal. I hadn't asked for any changes, so I asked her to bring the actual meal I ordered for my service dog. Between the so-so customer service and the uncomfortable atmosphere, I felt like I shouldn't even be there. After eating just a few potato slices, I asked for another box to take my food go. She returned quicker with that to-go box than for any other request I made during the visit. Her efficiency to get me out spoke decibels and volumes. The warmest interaction of my entire visit was with an older gentleman sitting at the bar while I paid my check--he honestly should be their greetings trainer! Upon paying, I wasn't presented with the opportunity on the bill or terminal to leave a tip, so I handed him $3 cash (the service wasn't great, but I had to tip something!). He shook my hand, thanked me, and complimented Boeba for his trained demeanor. That single customer made my visit just a little bit better. The omelette was exceptional and Boeba loved his breakfast too, I will not be back. Five or so minutes later, the head waitress or manager comes over and shows me the receipt, explaining that she would not charge us for the breakfast I ordered because of the problems (and because I didn't eat it) and showing us the removed charge that she circled. I thanked her, and then paid for breakfast using the QR code on the receipt. Big mistake. I get the emailed receipt on Friday evening - and why it took all day to get it I don't understand - and the charge was not removed. This means I paid the restaurant for food the kitchen messed up twice that I didn't even eat! I paid for food that was burned and then non-existent. What the hell? I'm not even sure what to say about this. I don't want to dispute the charge with the credit card company because my wife ate her food and we both drank our coffee. But it is absolutely wrong and ethically horrible that I got charged for food I didn't eat.
