This place was pretty fun. The whole crew has done an escape room before, but they had so many people in such a small room that it was just pure chaos. However, this place took a much more smoother approach. Smaller groups (just our crew, score!), no "threats" that impede problem solving, a hint system, and puzzles that leaned into the theme we played. YESSS!!! My first escape room in Denver!!! I usually do these wherever I travel, so I'm super glad there were friends in town who thought the same way. Someone in our party organized an outing to the Experiment C73 room at the Arvada location, and we had a blast with our host. I didn't realize this room was considered "challenging" until writing this review, but that makes sense because we had a bunch of experienced players that got stumped on a few puzzles. Overall intellectually satisfying. There was one part of the room that was physically "stuck" and we needed a staff member to help us out, but they were wonderful and generous with our time. I'd recommend this room to anyone looking for a mind bender! While two people could do it, the experience was actually way more fun with five. There were even some things we "got away with" (when we did stuff at random) and learned about the cleverness later from our host. I love their sales strategy of spinning a wheel at the end for a discount on your next escape room booking. It's keeping me and my friend well-occupied in Colorado. No matter where you live, it's totally worth the drive up to Arvada. I'll even have to try the ones in Lakewood! So excited for our next adventure. read more

tl;dr: Yes, Conundrum Escape Rooms in Arvada is great and deserving of your time in Colorado! Experiment C73 was my 148th escape room, and Path of the Gods was my 149th escape room for those looking for reviews from the perspective of someone that's played a fair amount of games. I played each of those games with just one person. I'll start with Experiment C73. Experiment C73 was one of the most teamwork-intensive rooms I've played. I'd wager that 75% of the puzzles and tasks in the room are physically impossible to do by one person alone, which makes this a fantastic room to play if you want to see how well-suited you and your group are in terms of collaboration. Puzzle design here is clever and there is a lot to do. My friend and I finished this room with two hints, although one of those hints made me nearly ashamed of myself because I had literally looked at the solution, said it out loud, and then completely disregarded it, haha. Note that at least one player will have to be able to crawl, although it would be helpful if you had at least three players and two of them could crawl... As for Path of the Gods, I can confidently say I've never felt as stumped about what to do in a room as I have in this one! This room is less linear than Experiment C73. In fact, there are effectively four different tracks that can be taken once you're inside, and at least one of those requires two people. So, a group trying to speedrun this would need five people at a bare minimum. Since I was doing this with just one other person, we spent what seemed like an eternity trying to figure out where to even start, and we needed a lot of hints to really get started on what to do. By the end of it I felt like we were way over time, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn we had roughly two minutes left. Path of the Gods is a very puzzle-heavy room that also has nicely implemented tech, audio, and set-design. You're given a walkie talkie in order to communicate with an archaeologist on the outside if you need hints, but be careful to not accidentally change the channel on the walkie talkie like I did (oops!). There's a very short bit of crawling here, but you can kind of just butt scoot your way through that passage. Overall, I'd recommend this room for those looking to really exercise their brains or those who like feeling like adventurers in dimly-lit ancient Egyptian temples. Lastly, I have to really thank John, our game master, for being both a great game master and a great person to chat with between games. I didn't ask, but my guess is that John is perhaps both an owner and a game designer/builder here. You can tell John is an escape room enthusiast not just because he's done a lot of rooms himself, but because the games here are made with elements that escape room enthusiasts look for: unique puzzles that make sense, physical sets to interact with, and rooms that keep you occupied for your full hour's worth. We did the Hollywood room today and it was fun. Dimitri was a great host! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the room had a very strong perfume smell which fit the theme, but immediately gave me a headache! Maybe add that to the room description to caution the smell-sensitive. read more

My group and I have gone here several times. The rooms are well put together and feel clean and well taken care of - even before covid. The staff has always been bubbly, friendly, and engaged in the experience. I personally like that they'll chime in with a soft "so...how did you get that number?" when we've gone array. read more

Experiment C73 - low 4/5 | Rank 45/145 (Good room with a little something that makes the room distinctive. We will happily recommend these rooms to travelling enthusiasts or locals.) Experiment C73 is a room that in theory has all of the markings of a standard escape room - a fairly generic set and theme, generally low tech, a fair amount of combination locks, no real story once you're in the room, and no real feeling of immersion. Rooms with these properties tend to result in a death sentence for my review of the room, but looking back, this room was different because it really excels two specific areas: really cool custom, physical props, and unique gameplay involving said props. While the room doesn't have any complicated electronic tech, it has a lot of fairly complicated mechanical components (such as custom woodwork pieces/contraptions, giant mechanical...objects) that you will not see in many other rooms, and this tech coupled with the fun gameplay made the room quite unique and enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend this if you really care about amazing sets / immersion (should probably go to Rabbit Hole instead for that), but if you're looking for unique gameplay and ideas (which Rabbit Hole surprisingly has less of as their gameplay is far more standard from an enthusiasts perspective), be sure to give this room a shot. Story - You're trying to escape an experiment or something, which is a fairly standard theme. The GM is in character as your doctor when you need a hint, but is fairly removed from the game. The puzzles are on theme, and while many of them generally did make you feel like you were partaking in an experiment, there wasn't enough set/sound effects/triggered sequences to really support this and make you feel like you actually in the place and not just in a themed room doing puzzles. That's fine given the focus of the room is more on the gameplay, which will be described below. Set - The set was your standard "escape the hospital" type of set - it was fine and fit the needs of the game, but was fairly standard as far as these things go. Again, the unique mechanical props were great, but the ambiance as a whole felt more like a standard escape room. Puzzles - The puzzles are the star of the show here, and they were really quite good. One in particular stood out to me as something that is such a simple concept but a blast to do in practice - I'm actually really surprised why this particular puzzle isn't used in more escape rooms of this theme (maybe I haven't been to enough of them), as it was very fun to do. Aside from that one, the room contains ~5 other puzzles that require interacting with some handcrafted stuff - the stuff was all crafted for the game in mind, so it ended up being a really unique experience that I haven't seen in other rooms, and also pretty fun to boot. The game also contains some amount of more standard escape room puzzles - these were fine but not particularly exciting. Recommended Player Counts - The room isn't really that big, and should be played with as few people as possible. Ideally enthusiasts should bring 2 - we're not particularly great at puzzles and barely escaped so its possible, but things may be a bit tight and you may have to ask for clues. Beginners should probably bring 4-6, though parts of the room and linear and there isn't enough space for everyone to participate in certain sections of the room. I've done around 20 rooms in total and Conundrum definitely ranks up there in terms of enjoyability. I've done both Experiment C73 and Path of the Gods and both were excellent rooms. Both rooms have great theming and some amazing puzzles. Experiment, in particular, while not a very high tech room had some puzzles that I've never seen before. While my girlfriend and I were unable to escape in time (made it to the last puzzle) we had an absolute blast. Very linear but all in all super fun and one of my top 5 rooms. Path of the Gods is a room that just oozes atmosphere. Super non-linear which is overwhelming at first but once you focus, its the best take on "Egyptian tomb" that I've done. I was able to meet the co-owner, who was our gamemaster, this past weekend and got to talk to her about the rooms she designed and you could tell the passion and level of love that was put into these rooms. This is an escape room business by enthusiasts for enthusiasts and it shows. read more

Haven't this much fun since i did the loop roller coaster at Elitches!!! I am a great-grandmother and a retired educator. I brought my granddaughter, a friend and my friend's 17 yr old daughter to Conundrum Escape Rooms. My friend's daughter had been to an escape room before, at another place, and was not enthusiastic about doing another one but she reluctantly decided to give Conundrum a try. We did "Experiment C73." Before we got through the first ten minutes she changed her mind about puzzle rooms. We all got immersed in the room and it felt like we were truly in this "experiment." The room was creative, intriguing, realistic and well thought out with interactive challenges throughout. I could tell lot of thought and effort went into these rooms. There were puzzles, riddles and codes galore to guide us through the room. The story lines and themes were well thought out. Communication, listening skills, and a few helpful hints from Jon, one of the owners, got us working together to solve all the puzzles. It was a fantastic experience. While we were at Conundrum, I saw Sabrina, another owner, working on an upcoming Egyptian room. The 5 owners work together to create and build these rooms. They are excellent at coming up with great ideas for new rooms. Right now they have two rooms at the Arvada location and two others in progress there. They have four more rooms at the Lakewood location. They keep the place and the rooms clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when a hint was needed. It was fun to the last challenge. It was money well spent and we will definitely be going back. read more
