Had a ton of fun here. Nice establishment. Sebastián assisted used with drinks, safety, techniques, and different but simple strategies to make it more enjoyable. Oppose to just throwing an axe at a wood board. Do need to be aware the pricing you see listed is per person and not per lane/bay.... unlike bowling & Topgolf. So just be mindful. But overall nice experience and would recommend.

Not gonna lie..when we arrived at this location it looked pretty sketchy from the outside and I was rethinking if it was a good idea to be here, not being familiar with the area. I think the graffiti on the front is really what caught my eye. But we went inside and there were plenty of people throwing axes and knives and having a good time. We were greeted right away and were able to get a lane as walk-ins. We grabbed some drinks and got to work. Our trainer Sebastian was awesome! He was really patient with us as he explained the proper techniques and watched us throw, giving feedback along the way. I didn't realize that we were just warming up until he came back shortly after and explained some games we could play. We had time for two games for our group of 4 which added some fun to the experience and a little friendly competition. He also gave us some ideas of things to do in the area and coupons to use if we ever return. I hope we get a chance to return again in the future. I believe pricing for this activity is a little pricier here than in NC but I feel we got our moneys worth.

You've gotta try it! It sounds intimidating but honestly it's easier than you think and a lot of fun! My husband and I were in town for wedding and feeling adventurous and it was a blast! It's actually similar to darts. They give you a coach in the beginning that helps you learn how to throw it and give you games to play. It's also inexpensive! You've gotta try it!

Holy sh!t!! Had the most fun tonight at Axe Whooping!! Came here after dinner when my son noticed axe throwing across the street. Not going to lie, I was hesitant to take my 14 year old axe throwing but I'm glad we went. Amanda took care of us and she's a sweetheart. As a family we had the best time and hope to come back before we head to the airport in the afternoon ... hey, a girl can dream. Wishing Axe Whooping continued success in 2022 and BEYOND!!!

This is nothing like going bowling or to top golf, also I don't think it's for everybody! We came here on Sunday afternoon with a few friends- walked in. Parking in Denver on sundays is usually a breeze and it's free! We found a spot right in front of this place. They weren't as busy and we were accommodated quickly. All instructions and safety rules were provided to us by Vish - he made sure we were clear in terms of safety as well as the proper way to throw the Axe. Also appreciate him stopping by during the game to make sure we were doing alright. The reason for the missing one star in my review is the price! Unanimously, we thought that this was on the higher side. The prices are per person although you would be sharing the box with your group and $30 per person per hour is steep!!! This is a fun activity but I don't think I will frequent it. Definitely worth a try though!

4.5 stars. After date night dinner at Anise, my partner and I came to Axe Whooping for some productive stress relief. Hey that's a half rhyme! It took some time for us to be greeted at the front (we didn't know what we were doing) but after signing waivers, we were escorted to our throwing lane and given a quick tutorial about safety by Amanda. We had SUCH a blast and even made up some of our own points-based games. Kinda wish someone offered us a second axe so we could do double-handed throws like the couple next to us, but we enjoyed our time bettering technique and accuracy. Totally worth $30 each. Next time I want to try the Wreck Room. Thanks Amanda for being such a great hostess!!

Obviously the whole covid sitch... messing with things. But here's my feedback based on my Feb 2021 visit. We had a good-sized group and I thought it was great that our instructor made it a competitive game! He spilt us up and had us play game similar to darts. One game was reaching a certain number of points (tricky at the end where the loser could make a comeback) and another was similar to cricket. I've done this once before in Milwaukee and the biggest difference here was there NO bar, and our axe teacher pretty much stayed with us the majority of the time. My prior experience they were there but really spent the most time at the beginning teaching you how to throw and would check back in. Some people started throwing with on arm, they yeah you to use two bit don't stop you for one. So, I tried it and kind of liked the feel better but others didn't. I'd try both several times to see what feels better. At the end our axe Thea her start showing us "trick shots". That was interesting and I'm glad nobody lost any body parts, lol. And turns out I'm damn good and throwing two axes! I was even sharing my theory and coached others and it seemed to work! See the video! The place looks very much like a warehouse. Plastic is hanging down I guess due to the damn pandemic. The drink situation could me much, much better. They basically stick their fridge with whatever, super basic items. Like domestic beers and hard seltzers. That's it, no wine, no mixers. And not even good local or craft beer, either - yuck! I can't give this 5 stars due to that. Also, there is a small wreck it room there where you let out your frustrations and break stuff!!! I was asking about it and you can either purchase things from them to break (see pics) or you can pay a flat fee I think it was $40 to bring in your own items. So depends on what you want or how much. You still have to pay the room fee, I'd imagine, on top of that. Fun place but I hope they make it more into an inviting space in the future and definitely work on the drinks/bar options. They have axe throwing leagues and CBD infused N/A beverages if those tickle your fancy.

My coworkers & I were in Denver for a business trip and decided to stop by here for some team building. I was able to get a reservation for us online. Vish was our instructor & he was awesome! It took me awhile to get into the groove of things, but he was patient with me and would cheer us on whenever we did a good job. Once you get used to the axes, you can try throwing knives. That was so cool to do. 10/10 recommend this place! It's so fun!

Let's just say, throwing axes is not for the faint of heart, or for anyone on a budget. With family visiting from out of town, we were all turned on at the idea of throwing axes one evening, because why not. With Axe Whooping the closest of the 2 bars like this in Denver, the group and I ventured here for a little fun. PRO's: ++ Located on South Broadway, near Speer, the space is brand spanking new, easy to spot and has ample street parking by meter. On the Sunday evening we stopped by, we were able to pull up straight in front of the building, free of charge. Thank you Sundays! The interior is pretty bare, featuring a variety of axe throwing lanes for groups, a few picnic tables and the famous rage room in the back! ++ Staff is insanely friendly in offering help, advice and are actually on commission in assisting customers, and groups. Only 4 in our party of 5 wanted to throw axes, so a young woman (whose name I cannot remember for the life of me!) graciously helped us in getting started, how to properly throw an axe in proper form, and assisted in keeping score while playing one of the various games suggested. ++ THE RAGE ROOM. Literally the coolest idea - allowing any and all parties to blow off a little steam. Seriously! The small square room is filled with various breakables (think vases, glass fixtures, etc....) along with something to smash them with - a baseball bat and sledge hammer were offered in addition to your own arm to throw objects against the wall. Although each session comes with only 3 items to smash, additional items (laptops, lamps, tv's...) can be purchased for smashing! Even better - you're welcome to bring in your own items for smashing!  Once you've suited up, you can pick any music to your liking and rage out! Talk about therapeutic! ++ Throwing axe's is a total workout. No really! After a single hour (which is plenty I might add) I was exceptionally sore, having used muscles not normally worked as hard! ++ Coming in January, an axe throwing league will be starting, allowing for anyone who is anyone to join for 8 weeks! CON's: --Okay the only major con here is the price tag, which is why my review rates at just 3 stars. Rather than paying per lane, like the bays at Top Golf, this spot charges $22.50/person/hour! For just ONE hour of throwing, it cost our group of four $90 - yikes! The rage room is extra, at $15 for 15 minutes, including 3 small items to smash - which can last all of 30 seconds, if you're lucky. Although Axe Whooping offers more pro's than con's, I just can't shake the hefty price tag. However, if you're looking for a unique, interesting, fun and expensive night out - this is definitely your place.

Group of people in axe bay

Axe throwing is one of our favorite family activities for our group of college-aged kids and us older-timers! We've tried places on the Front Range and I have to say that Axe Whooping on Broadway has hit the axe right on the nose. Let's start with getting there and parking. At first, parking seems daunting but there is actually a parking lot and lots of street parking nearby. Once inside, the front area is well-organized and the staff are super helpful in getting your group checked in and ordering any beverages (beer, hard seltzer and a nice variety of nonalcoholic drinks are available). The axe-throwing experience is well-scripted- your coach will give your group instructions as needed, tailored to the experience level of your group. The differentiating factor for coaching at Axe Whooping is that your coach makes additional game suggestions and provides you the chance to work with different throwing elements throughout your visit. This provides additional entertainment AND keeps the entire group engaged. We got a chance to use throwing stars and knives. Then, we moved on to "trick shots" which was a super fun way to end our session. The other great thing is the price. They have a competitive price for the area AND they have some specials (I believe it's Monday and Tuesday - check the website) which can make it an even more affordable larger family or group activity. We will definitely be returning. The only "even better if," suggestion I have for the managers and staff is to take a page from one of the places in Loveland and (1) provide a score sheet that has structure/lines for newbies and (2) to provide more game suggestions to keep up the variety. Our coach had us play "51," and then we remembered the "minefield," game ourselves which is a lot more fun and evens out the playing field in a group.

    So spacious!!

We've been to 3 axe throwing places now and honestly this is the best one we've been to!!! Extremely affordable compared to other axe throwing places. We love how spaced out the area was so you didn't feel crowded around the other parties. This was one of the better nights we've had in Denver! We had a group of 4 of us and our host was the funniest quirkiest person ever. She set up so many games for us to play while we were axe throwing that the 2 hours flew by!!! We played tic tac toe, first person to get to 55, connect 4 all integrated into our axe throwing!! She also brought out fun other things we can try tossing like knives and stars! It seriously felt like no time passed at all and next thing we knew the 2 hours were over!!! They have a variety of drinks to purchase. Alcoholic and non alcoholic. The music was great and we overall had the best time!!! Don't skip on this place a fun night out in Denver!!!

Awesome activity! Three hours with her axe throwing trailer was an afternoon of fun, games, and competition. Great way to hang with friends, throw axes, and get some aggression out. Highly recommend!

I could see this being really frustrating on a busy night as I think there were only 3 actual ranges? There was a group of about 9 of us. One of my co-workers actually threw an axe that got launched into the ceiling when trying to perform a trick-shot and while stunned, likely irritated and probably a bit worried for liability reasons, the staff took care of it quickly and continued on with our game. We also did the plate throwing afterwards which was actually much harder then I was expecting. I would definitely go back again, but I do think I would want to plan it around an irregular time. For anyone who wanted some alki, that was easy to pick up and pay. The staff handled our training really well amongst three tables with over 20 of us. The instruction was clear and concise to keep us from hacking off a digit, cutting ourselves, or causing serious injury. The point was to exercise caution with throwing and retrieving our axes. I think we took up eight throwing lanes, and it sounded like we all had fun. Our group played an easy game like darts where we had to score 50, and anything over brought us down to 35. It was fun, intense at some points when we got close to winning, and overall pretty awesome to get the feel of throwing axes. At the end, we learned some trick shots with how to attach two axes together and throw them, throw dual wielding axes with one in each hand (I landed mine woo hoo!), and underhanded which I had no interest in trying, All in all, I had a great time, and I believe I can speak for the group that we did too. I completely thought that I'd embarrass myself by being pathetic at it but I actually did quite well to my surprise. Alex (our instructor and coach) was a great guy. With his sense of humor, he made us laugh through the explanation/coaching before our session. Once one party in the same section had left he allowed us to use the whole 4 lanes (do you say lanes??) as we were a big group. I don't know if I'm correct on this analysis but If you are good at playing darts, you MIGHT be good at this, too; just think of the axe as a giant dart and throw it at the target!! (I had to admit; if it's your first time, it might not be as easy as it sounds. Just trust the process; you'll get better gradually.) Having a party at an ordinary restaurant/bar with friends might be fun but if you are looking for an untraditional way to have fun with them then why not go to a place like this? In my opinion, it's a bit more healthy way to do it. One night of an axe throwing will definitely create a lasting memories for all of you. At this place that is quite spacious, clean, with great staff, there is no way you'll not have fun! P.S. Alex was kind.
