Rene and his crew recently finished building a custom stairway and a custom fireplace mantel for my home and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Rene visited my home three times to take measurements and review what I wanted my stairway to look like before bringing his crew to start the job. His communication was about as good as it gets as he returned phone calls and texts like someone who actually wanted my business. Rene and his crew spent five full days on the job. They were there like clockwork at 6:15-6:30 am every morning and worked through 6:00 pm every day. These guys do not mess around, it was really impressive. His crew was great and it was pretty cool to come home every day and see how much progress he had made. In the very end I decided I wanted the balusters to be a different color so he placed the order and came back two weeks later just to finish that part of the job. He also stained the stair treads to perfectly match my new hardwood flooring and then finished it off with a very hard sealer that would keep my 100 lb. wild dog from destroying the finish on the new steps. Overall it was a great experience working with Rene and I am very happy with the results. I would use his services again in a heartbeat. read more

This review is way overdue. I had Renee and his incredible team redo the stairs in my newly purchased fixer-upper from the eye-sore that they were to the focal point of the entrance to my home. What a transformation! And, they did this amazing job in just four days! The attention to detail is incredible -- perfectly mitered corners; razor edge painting between painted spindles versus stained handrails and steps; solid craftsmanship! And if that wasn't enough, the most professional and accommodating contractor that I have ever worked with. Honestly, he is my favorite and would bring him back again in a heartbeat. I think that the before and after pictures say it best. read more

Absolute professionals! I typically do not write yelp reviews but Rene and his team at Contour Stairs are more than deserving. I did my homework and bid out my staircase with 5 contractors. When I met with Rene I could tell that he was truly passionate about the work he does and I knew at that point that he would be the man for the job. Although he may not have been the cheapest among the 5 bids, I knew I would not be disappointed with his work! Rene and his team came in and from start to finish completed the job within a week (full teardown and rebuild). On the last day they knew that if they started the staining they would have to finish it and it was already into the evening so needless to say they started the staining and didn't complete it until early the next morning. Talk about commitment! Their dedication and passion for their work shows in every detail of our staircase, I wholeheartedly recommend Contour Stairs to all my friends and family. I promise you will not be disappointed with their service, craftsmanship or quality of work! They exceeded my expectations and will exceed yours if given the chance. read more

Rene and his team are fabulous. They are extremely hard working. They would work 12 hour days to unsure our work was done in the 4 days they promised. We have a multilevel home with a total of 28 stairs spread throughout 5 different locations, so completeling the job in 4 days was no easy feat. The quality of their work is also exceptional. Even my husband (a wood worker that is not easy to please) is extremely impressed by their work. I would highly recommend Rene and his team. Thank you Contour Stairs we couldn't be happier! read more

After my contractor failed to tell me that he is no expert on stairs and railings, mid way through the first half of my stair case. Mind you I pointed out that the rail was not at an even slope anyway I started to look for alternative options. This is my second home remodel and I now know that stairs and railings are very unique items and a very niche construction group. Before I let the project continue I researched and found a few staircase specialists in Orange County. After several quotes and tests of professionalism I chose the best service and it happen to be the he best price. Rene of Contour Stairs is a stair and rail expert, knew all the codes, styles and techniques to fix or create a masterpiece of a stairway. I called him he answered and quoted me over the phone with simply a picture of my project. He came over 2 days later on a Sunday at 6:45am and finished the entire project by 12pm. The best parts::: he matched my hard to match dark wood floor stain and used premium product. Thank you Rene and the team of contour stairs for dialing in my new house in Cypress and saving the project. read more

Contour Stairs - Entry way it's more of a showcase! - General Contractors Near Me

Gladys G, Fullerton, CA I have interviewed contractors for the last 2 years for a staircase remodeling project and none were able to meet my expectations until I met Rene, owner of Contour Stairs. I eventually hired a contractor who promised to complete my stairs remodeling before Christmas 2018...which never happened. So, running out of time for a project needed to be done before Christmas, I went to Yelp where I found Contour Stairs and immediately called and spoke to Rene. He asked me to send him a picture of my old stairs to have an idea of what suppose to be done. Rene showed up the very next day to give me a quote and completion date. I liked how professional and friendly he was, and I hired him on the spot. I consider myself a hard to please customer especially when it comes to home remodeling projects, but Rene not only met my expectations, he exceeded them. Rene is energetic, professional, responsible and an honest businessman. He is friendly, a hard worker and delivers on his commitments. Rene was able to complete my beautiful and customized staircase in just 3 days (other contractors said 10 to 12 days) and showed up even in the pouring rain to ensure he would meet the completion date! Rene is outstanding in both sales and craftsmanship, I recommend him highly. Because of Rene, my staircase was completed in time for me to entertain my family for Christmas. Thank you, Rene for making my holiday dreams come true! read more

I got my stairs done by Rene and his crew at Contour Stairs about a year ago, just getting to the review now. When we first bought our pad it was a single story, old historical type place near downtown Long Beach. It originally had two stories, with a straight staircase leading from the living room downstairs up to a second floor where there were 2 extra bedrooms. For whatever reason the flippers cut out the staircase and sealed it up, sealing up the stairwell and effectively turning the upstairs into a large attic. Trying to open up the house and utilize the space, ended up getting screwed around and strung along by another contractor, finally found Rene on Yelp, called on a Sunday, he came through same day, checked out the scope of the work, had the materials ordered by Tuesday, began work on Wednesday, and was done by Saturday mid-morning, everything cleaned up, vaccuumed, swept, etc. Freakin bang up job, couldn't have been happier. They're sturdy and have that old house esthetic, matches the historic look to perfection. Price was reasonable, about ballpark for what i was expecting, but the fact that the TOTAL turnaround time from visit/quote to completion was 1 week exact, with not a flaw in the work, i was amazed. Would recommend 100%, Rene is a solid dude and works with a very competent crew, excellent choice if you go with them read more

I received several estimates from various contractors regarding my staircase before I finally found Rene. And let me tell you, I am beyond grateful that I did. The other contractors either told me it was impossible to do what I wanted, didn't follow through, were too pricey, or were not experienced. Then, thankfully I ran across Rene who exhibited none of those pesky problems. Rene is kind, professional, and more than happy to answer all your questions (believe me I had a lot). He is extremely knowledgeable about staircase remodels; I initially wanted a stair tread to match my floors that did not consist of one solid wood piece; however, Rene provided me with all the pros and cons of me choosing that type of tread so I could make the best choice for my home. He was willing to install it, but with his keen knowledge and clear expertis I decided to go with his recommendation of one solid piece for each tread to ensure the longevity and durability of my staircase and the stairs came out beautifully. He handcrafted each tread, handrail, added iron balusters, and a volute to my stairs and extended the first step (another contractor told me I could not have a volute due to space at the bottom of the staircase, but Rene made it happen without a problem!). He also stained and added a glossy finish. His work is impeccable! Rene is very meticulous. He took his time to ensure my stairs were beautiful. Every part of his job is meticulously done, neat, and precise. He is professional, honest, and an all-around great contractor. He and his team came on time, kept the house tidy, and finished on schedule. I highly recommend you allow Rene to beautify your home with his staircase caftsmanship. His prices are fair and reasonable and the outcome is worth every penny. You will not be disappointed! read more

After three quotes, we decided on these guys. In our meeting with Rene (owner) he shared some very good ideas and proposed some things we didn't even think about. We could tell he took pride in his work and approached the project like he was being commissioned to create a piece of art. They just finished today and we couldn't be happier. IT IS BEAUTIFIL! Well beyond our expectations. Another thing that really blew us away is he actually went above and beyond what was expected. Like all three quotes indicated, and as most stair contractors make clear, they only patch walls, but the painting is done by the home owner. However, when I returned home on the last day to do the final walk through, Rene explained that he found a bucket of left over paint in our storage (we didn't even realize we had) that was the color of the paint on our walls. So he went ahead and did all the needed painting. I'm not sharing this so that all future clients should expect this service, but to instead show what great guys they are. And by the way, they are extremely punctual, which I appreciated. I highly recommend these guys. read more

Rene is THE MOST accommodating person I've worked with to date! I had contacted him a while back for a quote on renovating our stairs. I'm a first time homeowner so new to everything and seeking guidance. Rene not only responded right away but came out the same day and walked me through the process. I had to think about it for a week so reached out a few times with various questions/concerns, and he was responsive and HONEST. He additionally provided me some contacts with great pricing and solid experience, AND provided suggestions on other projects I was working on from his experience. He's a rare find and I'm so pleased to have met him! read more

Rene and his team are AWESOME! You will not find a more talented team. From the design process, to the estimate, to the execution, Rene is absolutely first class! I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you're looking to redo your stairs, stop your search right now and go with Rene! His work is incredibly elegant. These guys work tirelessly and quickly, as well. As an added perk, of sorts, Rene also happens to be a very enjoyable person! I would give him 10 stars if it were possible! read more

Rene came by on time for an estimate. He was pleasant and knowledgeable, suggesting ideas to enhance our stairway. We set a date for the demolition and the crew was prompt. They worked an 11 hour day with only a short lunch break. They took the time to minimize dust and tidied up before leaving for the night. The crew was on time each day and worked long hours to get the job done on schedule. Rene has a list of tradesmen to accommodate unexpected problems and keep the job moving. He did all he said he would and we are very pleased with the results. With his extensive background I would recommend him to any homeowner who needs stairway remodeling. read more

After getting estimates from 3 companies, Rene of Contour Stairs was by far my favorite. Rene does things the right way. He is licensed, bonded and insured. When I contacted him he immediately sent us some pictures of work he had done, so we could start getting an idea of what we wanted. Rene came out the same day, Saturday, and provided us with a complete estimate. No hidden charges. Rene and his crew were out within the same week to do the work. When it came to the design and staining the woodwork, Rene made sure that we were completely satisfied with everything. The quality of his work and his attention to detail is fantastic! We absolutely love the final product! Rene is nice and it is very easy to work with him. RENE AND HIS TEAM ARE PROFESSIONAL, PUNCTUAL, HARDWORKING, MASTERFUL CRAFTSMEN. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND RENE OF CONTOUR STAIRS. read more

Amazing experience! Rene is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, reliable (shows up to-the-minute on time), and responsive to all questions and issues. He knew exactly how to blend our style choices with what would work in the space our staircase allowed. He knew things we didn't realize like our steps were too shallow and he fixed that. His crew members were all very respectful and considerate. The entire team was hyper-sensitive to keeping the rest of our home clean during the construction. Rene even fixed a problem we had been having with some folding doors for our laundry closet for free. Additionally, about a month after the job had been completed, my husband contacted him because we were running into a paint-matching issue with other work we were having done in our home and Rene offered to go out of his way to get us the left over paint he had from the job he'd done for us. The quality of work was beyond perfect. My husband and I both have OCD (something I don't like contractors to know before working with us because we can be difficult during the punch-list phase) and we had literally zero punch list items for Rene once the job was completed! This was a first for us. Though it is always wise to get 2nd and 3rd quotes when choosing a contractor to do work in your home, and though Contour Stairs is reasonably priced, if you find Rene's quote to come in slightly higher than another company, I HIGHLY recommend you consider that you get what you pay for and Rene is worth every single extra dime you'll spend for his work. read more

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Rene and his company. The entire process from consultation to completion took place in less than a week and the final product is flawless and exactly what I dreamed of and imagined. I was out of town during the construction and Rene sent me numerous picture to keep me up to date on the progress, and made sure the stain of the wood was exactly what I wanted. I can hardly believe how much better our entire place looks with this upgrade. In fact my husband just came down the stairs and proclaimed, "Wow! This is a beautiful staircase." Thank you for the fantastic work. read more

I had already met with 4 other companies to remodel our old 1975 open carpeted staircase with white metal railing and then fortunately found Contour Stairs on Yelp and read their great reviews. Right from the start, the process with the owner, Rene was different. He was super responsive and helpful - sending photos of stairs with explanations and ideas for us to consider. He met with me, brought samples, offered feedback and gave references (whom I called and they couldn't say enough good things about Rene). I had an idea of what I wanted for the house- something classic, that fit with the architecture and was just generally interested in the process and Rene was so good about answering many, many questions. Unlike other companies, he quickly provided a quote, followed-up thoroughly and continued to check in, finalizing small details and working with our budget. I also liked that he told us what to expect exactly, kept us updated along the way, was ALWAYS on time, kept things as clean as possible AND actually finished the job when he promised - in 4 short days! The amount of work that they do everyday is impressive! And he was so professional, courteous and flexible- working around us and our three small children. I think what sets Rene and his company apart is that he does the work, he really enjoys his craft, likes working with people and helping them improve and enhance their home and takes a lot of pride in his work. Thanks to Rene and his brother Israel, we see a beautiful staircase with hardwood treads, white risers, hammered rod iron balusters and an elegant continuous wood rail when we walk in instead of an eyesore- they transformed it. I've already recommended him to a neighbor for their stairs and to a friend for a mantel and can feel good about referring him because of his high quality materials, amazing craftsmanship and admirable work ethic. We would be happy to work with Rene again. Thanks Rene! read more

WOW! Rene and his brother are just amazing! Rene promises what he says and very honest! Just the moment Rene walked into my house he was very friendly and showed respect and knew what he was talking about. One thing which impressed me was all the projects he has done and seeing the quality of work off the pics which he showed me on his iPad. He gave me great ideas on what I should do. Another impressive thing was he was able to give me a quote right on the spot and did not force me to sign the contract and say if you don't sign it today its going up $500 in a week since this is a just a special. When I told Rene I need him to come install my railings and skirt for the stairs on a certain day he was able to make it happen and fit me in his busy schedule. On the install day Rene said he will be at my house by 630 and in the back of my head I was like yeah okay and sure enough as I was making my coffee I saw him and he was ready to work and go. The final project was amazing! I would recommend him to anyone and everyone, he is the real deal and awesome guy. Do not waste your time on calling other people for stair railing or getting your stairs redone just call Rene and you will be extremely happy. Thanks again Rene! read more

I had multiple quotes from other contractors and wished I had been introduced to Rene's company from the beginning which would had saved me headache and worries with my staircase problems. My previous contractor built framing that did not meet safety codes but Rene was our lifesaver. His team rebuilt the framing and gave us a beautiful landing. The works were all done by Rene and his brother. Rene is an amazing contractor who has great taste in styles. I'm very bad in visualizing which style would look best but Rene guided me with his great recommendations. He helped to make decision making not as hard as I trust his recommendations. I'm amazed they finished the project in 4 days and the quality is impeccable. He and his brother worked hard and long hours. They are very friendly and professional. Rene had previous replaced our banister a little over a year ago, we were very pleased with the final product, along with his professionalism and expertise. Rene was very prompt and came in, prep the areas and address the wood hand railings and sealed the areas. If you are looking for hard to find excellent craftsmanship, you have definitely found the perfect professionals for the job!!! I had my 1990 stair case brought back to life because of Rene and his crew. Rene was excellent. He was patient, explained the process in detail, went over options with me and listened to what I was hoping to achieve in the look for my home. Let me tell you, the results were beyond my expectations.... I was absolutely blown away!!!! The entire job was extremely fast and painless considering how much demo and rebuild was involved. The crew came in early and on time daily and got the job done in less than 3 days. It was amazing to watch. Each crew member worked in sync with one another and handled what was involved considering all the details. It's hard to find people willing to put as much effort, skill and detail into construction and woodwork now days, but with Contour Stairs you'll find all the above and more. I was worried that the stain would be difficult to match between my floors and the stairs, but the end result was seamless and beyond perfection. Not only did they build me the staircase of my dreams, they gave me a work of art. I couldn't stop staring at the final product for hours after it was completed. Still, it's hard to believe what can be done in the small time frame it took. The amount I spent was reasonable and we were able to work a price that was suitable for my budget considering prices now days for good, hard labor and expertise. I highly recommend Contour Stairs to anyone looking to improve their stair case. It's completely worth it and I assure you, you will not be disappointed . He turned my staircase from an ugly duckling, half carpet- half wood, out of date staircase, into a beautiful swan of a staircase that is a hardwood show stopper. Rene and his brother are true professionals and unbelievable artists!!! For years my husband was unhappy with our staircase and each year we remodel / update something in our home. This summer, we decided that it would be our staircase that needed remodeling...it was the best decision ever!! When I called Rene (the owner), he immediately returned my phone call. Not only that, he was extremely responsible and punctual, as far as getting back to me and meeting my husband and I; definitely a man of his word! Rene was extremely patient, takes time to explain everything, was very respectful before and throughout the project, always made helpful suggestions, and he had a ton of references in which he provided. After much discussion, my husband and I came to the conclusion that he would be the best contractor for us (however, we got 2 quotes from previous individuals, but we chose Rene because he was the whole package). When the decision was made, Rene literally started that week. Now let me say, this was a huge project, and Rene and his brother completed this project in 4 days and put in 12 hour days (they showed up every day on time, sometimes earlier than the specified time). They always cleaned up, covered up all my furniture, and they were sure to fix the walls with texture that needed attention. Let's just say that I highly recommend Rene and his crew!! Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Besides using excellent quality materials, they have an amazing work ethic. Again, they are true artists and TRUST me, they will deliver what you expect! Rene is an awesome communicator and listens to what you have to say. In addition, Rene has the best advice and provides valuable feedback in which he incorporates his years of experience. Basically, they far exceeded my expectation!!!! We LOVE our new staircase and ALL my family and friends LOVE it too!!!
