My elderly parents owned a home in San Juan Capistrano. They used Steve at Consumer Termite as their point of contact for many years. Steve took great care of them. They recently both passed away and we needed to sell the house. Steve came back again to perform a termite inspection for the sale. For all of the many years they worked with my parents, they were so honest and dependable. When my sisters and I had to reach back out to them in the middle of all of our grief, they were so very kind. They came out right away and walked us through everything. We even had another company come out and falsely tell us there was termite activity, but both Teresa (in the office) and Steve (the inspector) explained why this was likely incorrect. Just removed my 5 star review after my elderly mother called and was treated unbelievably rudely. We did not do an inspection because we needed work done and they said they didn't do repairs. Because of this, our "warrantee" was now void and they now require a MASSIVE additional "renewal fee" just to do an inspection. We used them for years, but have never been treated so poorly. Aside from being obvious scammers, this terrible, rude woman took it personally that we needed to get our house fixed (a service they couldn't perform) and was rude about it. I am a disabled senior who suffered a stroke. My memory was affected. I explained this to Teresa, receptionist; she made offensive comment while speaking on speaker phone. My friend heard her rude comment. Today, all day, she continued to be very rude and offensive after she charged me $198 for a new contract but refused to send a contract that offered the details of their "guarantee". She never picked up the phone to explain things. She YELLED in all capitals in her last email below. How many emails must be exchanged to get a copy of the new contract and before Teresa picks up the phone? LOTS of emails! ============== 1 "Just to clarify, you have the ORIGINAL CONTRACT, SENT AGAIN TO YOU TODAY, IT EXPLAINS ALL THE BENEFITS YOU RECEIVE, NOTHING CHANGES FROM YEAR TO YEAR. THE DATES ARE 100% CORRECT, WHERE DOES IT STATE 2022?? WE DID THE INSPECTION 5/11/23, YOU SIGNED THE FORM STATING THAT YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THE GUARANTEE GOING FORWARD WAS 4/2023-4/2024. WHAT ERROR ARE YOU REFERING TO? The original contract stays in force until you cancel your service. You had no problem last year with our paperwork! We are more than happy to refund you $198!!" ================== 2 "Ironically you referenced in your email of last night that your recollection as well as your witness's [regarding my stroke] was different that mine which is the very email that the attachments were on but I will be more to forward to you." ================== 3 "I did not refer to it as a report. The form is called "Yearly Termite Control Service" it is a two part NCR form. You signed it the day the inspection is done and it states the renewal period on your signed copy. You are left a yellow copy and we keep the original here in your file. I attached a copy of each years signed form in the email that was sent to you on Friday. They have ignored all my attempts to have a look into some areas where I've seen termite activity. They did come and treat initially, and got paid. However, after the initial inspection and treatment, nothing in the contract was honored. read more

Have been long time customers, we recently tried to reschedule our annual inspection only to be chastised and challenged by the customer service representative. Instead of finding a reasonable mutually agreeable solution we were met with rudeness, demands and finally her cancelling our policy and hanging up. Never did the representative acknowledge the customer's needs only disagreement. Tragically, this exchange ruins years of quality service interactions and loyalty. read more

I've had Consumer Termite Control come out to inspect our home for termites every year for at least a decade and in every instance the technicians they send out are very knowledgeable, personable and do a thorough job. Today we had Steve who has been here several times. He is an exceptionally experienced, able and very personable man. He took a good 45 minutes or more inspecting both inside and outside our home, and fortunately only found one specific area that had some evidence of termites which he was able to destroy. Do Not use them!!! Horrible customer service! And not good termite treatment! I would give Negative stars on this place if I could. To keep it short： we had used them once. When getting the quote and scheduling the termite treatment they were all professional and courteous. But after we got the service done and paid them, when we called back to ask questions the woman that answers the phone (I think the name is carol or something) is extremely rude and has an attitude not not helpful. Take your money elsewhere that's more professional and who actually wants your business - there are plenty of other choices, trust me! PS- we had our suspicions as to whether or not consumer termite actually did the proper termite treatment (and maintenance) that we paid a good penny for them to do on our property - and when we got another termite company a couple of years after our termite local treatment done by consumer Termite (also we had paid for an additional year of maintenance after the initial treatment), our suspicions were confirmed. the other termite company said the localized treatment that was done by consumer termite is not effective and it appears they did not know what they were doing. read more

What a great experience! Scheduled easily, got a call confirming they were coming during the agreed upon window (what?!), and did everything they said they would. I was beyond relieved to find we didn't have any major issues. It's a serious relief when you know you called the right company that has your best interest in mind. after 20 years we will NOT be renewing our contract with this company. we have three properties which have had 20 year contracts with CT, and have, until today, received great service from them. Leo is a wonderful technician, and we will be sad to not see him on our annual inspections. however, the lack of professionalism from the office staff and the appalling attitude of Tony, the person who i was told was the owner, is the sole reason we are not renewing. his blatant lack of concern for my issue today, along with his inability to even acknowledge that his office staff did not do what they had said they had done (which they do every year -- we have the work orders from every past year to show that they do, which he denies is the case) is the reason why he has now lost THREE properties in one fell swoop. in this uncertain time, you would think that companies would go the extra mile to ensure their long term clients were happy and taken care of -- not this company, apparently. there are plenty of other termite companies out there that will want our business -- i will be happy to give my money to one that earns it by treating their clients with some respect. read more

My mother used this company for a termite issue. After they finished the job, they convinced her sign a lifetime contract (seem fishy). Her second annual inspection was scheduled for this month. They left a massage to confirm the appt. My mother called to reschedule as she would not be home for that appt. The woman she spoke to was extremely rude and actually wanted to charge her a fee to reschedule the appt. The sheer lack of customer service is unbelievable. I have been running businesses all my life and I would immediately fire any employee of mine that treated a valued customer this poorly. My elderly mother had an inspection recently and they gained access though the attic. In the process of their inspection they must have inadvertently stepped on an electrical wire which leads to a ceiling fan breaking the wire free from the junction box in the ceiling. When my mother called them to address the problem they were rude and denied responsibility. They said it was the result of someone else but that is simply not true. My mother won't be using their services anymore nor will I be recommending them to any of my friends or family. Very poor customer service! read more

I rarely leave reviews, but felt very compelled to leave one for Consumer Termite. I have been a client for probably 10 plus years. My dad was a client for longer than that and referred me to them. Recently we had some major issues with termites. I signed a contract in July (my yearly contract) and it states they come out to treat any time. Tony, one of the owners, called me and insisted I tent. I certainly respect his opinion. However, he was demeaning, condescending , and downright rude. I asked for my money back in September, called three times, and had no return call and no refund. I have since gone to Pacific Coast Termite who actually treat the issue without tenting and also treat their customers with respect. Consumer termite is fine until you don't agree with them. I use Consumer Termite Control for my home. Tony and Leo have done great work in inspecting the property. On one occasion I had a quote by another outfit (well know named company) and they hardly did an inspection but found issues outside and inside. Tony was able to do a through inspection and only found evidence of external and took care of the problem. Saved me a lot of wasted dollars. They are very thorough and knowledgeable and above all, honest in their appraisal of the issue. Called and left a message, no one called back. Called the office and they said that someone would call. Tony finally called and we went back and forth and finally he said the fumigation forman would have to check the job out. Tony calls back and says it's impossible, that was according to the fumigation forman, i asked to talk to the fumigation forman. He called and said he would have to take another look, i told him we would do what ever had to be done to get the fumigation done, he never called back. I saw some damage on my deck, and was afraid it was termites. A friend recommended Consumer Termite Control, so I called them. They came out for a free inspection the following morning. I did have termites, but they were localized so I didn't need my house tented. I was very happy about that. They came out the next morning and locally treated the area. The man was very professional, and right on time. It took less than an hour. They guarantee the whole property, both inside and out, for a year, and include a return visit at the end of the year. Consumer Termite came out to our house to treat for termites. They ended up drilling into the foundation slab and hitting a copper water pipe in the process. We had to pay a plumber a large amount to fix the damage THEY did to the pipe. Consumer Termite did not pay for the damage but expected us to pay their bill in full. While we were deciding how to handle this situation they put a lien on our house. We ended up paying their bill in full and we got nothing for the damage to our property. They didn't even offer us a discount on the bill after the damage they did. read more

Don't even consider giving this "service" one dollar! We paid them for termite control for several years in our Mission Viejo home. We sold the home in December of 2013 and had to lower the price by SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO TERMITE DAMAGE. Of course, Consumer then wanted to come out and tent the home for selling - this must be where they make their money in addition to their monthly fees. They will never touch another home we own, nor be allowed on the property. We called Consumer Termite Control repeatedly to come out and maintain areas where we saw droppings. They would come out each time and say they did the work, but this company is a complete fraud. My cousin in San Juan Capistrano is in the process of selling her home and the same, exact thing is happening to her. Enormous, very costly termite damage was discovered, even though they had also been paying Consumer Termite Control for years as well. Do NOT even consider this business. I can't imagine how they are still in business. Read all these reviews closely. They don't tell the real story, especially when the home is inspected for sale. read more

The guy is a throw back on the old days service where people where polite, smart and honest. There price is fair but not high. They went out of there way to make sure we were ready and even bagged some things we forgot. They only broke 3 tiles and those were on the edge so I am sure the tent did that and not there heavy feet. They did outstanding work. They had the tent off fast and ready for us to return. We found out we have termite and called Consumer Termite Control. To say that this is an outstanding company is an understatement. Steve came over to our house the next day and inspected everything and was very honest with us. He did not try to sell us anything extra and helped us decide on an option that worked with our budget. Andrew came to our house to start the treatment and was so professional and courteous and took care of everything. He explained to us what the process was and all the steps he was taking to get rid of the termites. I work from home and Andrew was so quiet there was no disruption to my work. This is one of the best companies we have ever worked with. These days it's really hard to get good customer service. Steve and Andrew proved that there are good businesses still around that truly care about the customer and not so much about how much money they can make.
