Not sure why my first review didn't stay up. I will repost. A trip to visit family in Ashland landed me at Connecting Point Computers for a new Apple laptop. My parents had just picked up a new iPad from them and they had a good experience. I figured since I was in Oregon with no sales tax that I would make my purchase there. I picked up a new 15" Macbook Pro because I run Photoshop and do a bit of iMovie. I talked with a nice salesman name Simon who knew all about the computers. He explained to me that the 15" Macbook pro had a graphics card that is more suited for graphics and video than the 13" models. I picked up the new MS Office software as well as a case. The entire experience was great for both my parents and myself. Simon did mention that they have some one on one help that they can offer for free since I purchased the Mac from them, but I live out of the area so I will just use the Apple store in Sac for that. Having said that I was able to make an appointment for my parents to get help for the iPad that they just got for later in the week. I have been using Mac's for years but my parents are very new and will need some much needed hand-holding which I can't do very well from out of town. read more

First and foremost I am completely computer challenged. My kids sent me another iPad because they felt my last one wasn't fast enough. Trying to setup my new one was nothing but headaches. It was password this, and ID that and what is your code, etc..... I called Connecting Point to see if they could help. They assured me they would do everything they could to help. The first thing the gentleman at the service counter did was help recover my Appleid. We wrote down the id and password, wrote down my code to get in and setup my gmail. He offered to help me get my games and facebook from my old one to my new one. It was nice because he explained exactly what he was doing instead of talking over me. Again I am no computer genius so I was very happy getting all the help I could. Since my kids live out of town he told me I could do this thing called facetime so I could see the grandkids from home. I could have never set it up without the help from the guys behind the counter. I went home that night and did my first facetime. (actually my second since we had to test it at their store). I will go back if I get stuck again, but for now I am very satisfied. read more

I rarely use reviews as a part of my decision making process, and it's even less likely that I could be convinced to write one ... This is one of those very rare occasions. If I could give this guys a 10 star rating I would. It started with a call to Apple concerning my MackBook Pro crashing on a daily basis. Apple was excellent as always and approved a warranty review and repair, sent me the box. Everything was fine. Except for this one tiny thing. The fact that I could not get a clean backup was never listed in their contact reports. I decided to drive the 190 miles to Medford on the chance that I could talk to one of their techs about there USB ports ... To my pleasure thats exactly what happened. I walked in the door told my story, which they listened to patiently asked a few questions, cancelled my repair call with Apple, set up the new one, ran tests (which failed) and sent it in for repair. I 2as rewarded with a NEW MOTHER board and a machine that preforms as every Apple should. Do yourself a favor. Try these guys out. You'll be asking Yelp how to give 10 stars just like me. It was only after purchasing a new Apple laptop for my wife that I read the negative comments concerning Connecting Points Computer Center. Had I read them before making the purchase, I most likely would not have done business with them. It has been several months since the purchase and I must admit that my experience was TOTALLY POSITIVE. Part of the purchase agreement was the ability to talk to someone at Connecting Points about any questions we had regarding the uses and functions of the new computer. We had our appointment a few days ago. We had a long list of questions concerning the operation of the computer. Connecting Points spent a good hour with us going over all of our questions. We felt the time was well spent. We never felt rushed. We left the store with loads of useful information and an assurance that if we had more questions in the future, they would be glad to work with us. This type of service can only be had if you purchase your computer locally. From our experience we can highly recommend Connecting Points for your computer needs. Fritz and Gisela read more

Very poor service!! I have used this place for all my apple computers, purchase all mac for my business, all my guys used apple devices and phones, thru the years I have spend thousands of dollars with this store. I have even purchase warranty for my devices. Last week my new iPhone 6plus was giving me problems and I want it to have them service and they told me it was going to take anywhere from 3 to 7 days to get if check and for the mean while I was going to be with out a phone, I told them I could not be with out a phone since this is how I run my business. They just told me "sorry there is nothing we can do for you" What it was worth's the manager accused me of laying, he told me in two occasions that they did not sell IPhones at there store. I had to call my sell person to confirm that in did I made a special order from there store. I'm so appointed that will be the last device I ever by from them. I also want to mention that my sells person is been top notch, excellent service and he really cares for his customers, sadly the manager doesn't shares his values!!!!! read more

I have a 2009 Macbook pro that was getting sloooooooow. I went into Connecting Point to see if I could get it tuned up. I can't afford a new one right now, but was hoping for a little bit of $$ I could get it running better. Service recommended I upgrade it to a SSD drive. They said it would breathe new life into my ailing Mac. They put a 256 SSD into it and put all my stuff back on. They called two days later to say it was finished. The young man behind the counter wanted to start it up and show me the difference. Oh my gosh it was fast!! The computer started it just a few seconds, not a few minutes like before. My iPhoto program which has 9,000 photo's opened up in split second. I cannot believe I have never heard of this upgrade before. If you are looking to make an old computer fast look into bringing it here for an SSD upgrade. I promise you won't be dissapointed. Thank you Connecting Point service for saving my old computer. When this computer quits working I will be back to get a newer Macbook pro also with an ssd drive. read more

My name is Kent Bateman. i've done business with you folks over the years, but today, I was blown away by the most patient, polite and yet professionally assertive sales person I've come across... SIMON BARNES. I came in initially to purchase an LG monitor to interface with my new Macbook Pro 13", which my boss just bought me. I wasn't particularly happy with having to lay out 700.00, but had been told by tech support at Apple Care that the monitor I had ( a 2011 Mac LED Cinema Display 27") would not work with the new computer. Simon gave me a very thorough explanation of the LG. Then in the course of the conversation, he surmised that I could fix my problem with but a 40.00 Apple adapter (and this is after I didn't receive any such solution from my Apple Care call). Needless to say, Simon's professionalism is what breeds loyalty and as I told him, when the monitor I now have quits, I will be buying the new monitor from Connecting Point. What a pleasure it was to deal with such a knowledgeable and respectful sales person. Kudos+++ read more

I was very interested in purchasing the new MacBook with touch bar for my son for Christmas. After seeing various commercials I decided to go look at one. I went to Best Buy and after spending 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use the touch bar with no success, I went and found someone asking for help. They did not really know how to use one and proceeded to push me in the direction of a different notebook. Angered, I left and drove to Connecting Point. I walked right in and asked for someone to please show me the touch bar MacBook. I very nice gentleman by the name of Scott said, "Of course. Great choice by the way." He walked me over to them and began a full demonstration on the laptop. He was so helpful; in fact, I walked away that day with two computers, one for my son and one for me! Not to mention, the store had a very inviting atmosphere and a lovely Christmas tree right when you walk in. I recommend Connecting Point to anyone looking for friendly and superior service. read more

I had a problem receiving mail so called for an appt. at Connecting Point and explained that I had a long distance to drive and leaving my Mac would be a big hardship. They said they could set me up with a tutorial appt Waiting only just a few minutes I was helped by Les Lawrence. He quickly realized that this senior lady is not tech savvy and very patiently explained the problem where I could understand it and that my Mac is eight years old that I might want to add a backup portable storage so not to loose all that is stored. I did purchase that cute little silver Slim Guy and got away with a nominal fee, the mail problem fixed and Les did this service gratis! I purchased my Mac eight years ago at Connecting Point and actually have popped in a few times for little advice tips at the sales counter and never been charged. By the way, Les explained the issue to me without "talking down" to me and I really appreciated that so I say Kudos to Connecting Point! Sharon Moore read more

Excellent store, it's all electronics which as you can expect is expensive, but they also troubleshoot, repair electronics, and they'll even order parts for you. The few times I've went there for computer repairs they accommodated my all but technologically-impaired duck mom very professionally and nobody even got annoyed with her... (Except me.) Repairs run a little expensive because they charge quite a bit for the labor, but they always do an excellent job. Contrary to Apple stores' Genius Bars, these guys actually know what they're talking about. Aside from general electronics, computers, etc, they also sell phone cases, computer accessories, and even some awesome old computer games if you're nerdy (why else would you be there?) I got a nostalgia rush when I saw a copy of Star Wars: Empire at War and sniped it before anyone else could get to my sentimental treasure. Definitely the place to go to for repairs, and even just for browsing if you've got the time. read more

12/16 When i came to the front door of connecting point, with my heavy computer in hand employee tom came running over to hold the door open for me.now that was over the top customer service, i was immediatly impressed connecting point service technician Ben Hoover was also over-the-top he was very personable in explaining to a computer illiterate what was wrong and needed with fixing. All anxiety i had with the computer situation vanished when ben explained things to me geeks with personality are hard to come by i consider myself very lucky to have connecting point even though i live 30 miles from connecting point and have access to computer services in grantspass, i will always come to connecting point for all my needs the overall upbeat attitude of all the employees reminded me of the way starbucks trains their employees. read more

I don't often speak up when I see a review but I must chime in. I have an old Macintosh computer that I couldn't really afford to replace, I must admit that the Macintosh computer is a bit on the high end as far as price, but I was ready to ask for financing to buy a new computer. the salesperson just happened to ask about my old computer's condition and put me in touch with their service guy. After asking me a bunch of questions, he gave me a few steps on how to reset the computer. He spent considerable amount of time and was cheerful the whole time, (even with my considerable lack of knowledge on the subject). and best of all, his advise worked! I have always had good experience with all these guys and will always buy my computers from these guys. Some of us are willing to pay a little more for extra-mile service. read more

I can't recommend going to this place for repairs. I needed the rear facing camera on my 6s plus replaced because the auto focus feature caused the camera to giggle even when the phone still. I went here to ask how much it would cost to get it repaired and they said it would $100 for the camera and $50 to put it in. I thought that was a little much so I decided not to go here for repairs. I later went to a mall in Portland and a little phone kiosk said they would repair it for $60. I checked in at the Apple Store that was fairly close and they said they would repair it for $60 as well. Make sure they don't give you a ridiculous price. At least get a second opinion on how much a certain repair should cost. (I downloaded yelp just to get this out) read more

I took our HP Pavilion laptop in this past Monday for an issue with the speakers. Their policy clearly states that it could be up to 3 business days before a diagnostic service may take place. The very next day, I received a call from Justin, one of the techs. He had found the problem. The issue was a simple fix and he rectified the problem with no additional charge. BOOM! He could have easily charged me for the fix but instead decided to put the "customer" back in customer service. The computer is working perfectly and was back in our hands in less than 24 hours. Thank you for your professionalism, integrity and ethics. You can count on my return if the need arises. read more

I am a college student who was searching for a new computer before I left for school. I did not have a very good understanding previously of which computer would get me the best value for what I needed to use it for, and was in my budget. After visiting a few stores and receiving no help, I went to Connecting Point where their generous staff helped me find just what I was looking for, as well as helped me get my email set up and made sure I had all of the proper software to help me be a successful student! I also purchased a case because I loved their selections! Connecting Point is now my number 1 store for all things electronic and I recommend you make it yours! read more

These folks have ALWAYS been helpful, but recently John went above and beyond. I had visitors from the UK and they had only their Ipad on the trip for photos. It was not functioning so we went to seek help at Connecting Point. John figured out a way to fix the problem - even though the configuration was a bit different than on those here in the US. He was patient, kind, and very professional. My friends are still talking about how great he was - and they now have much more knowledge in the use of their IPad, as well as many more photos to share with their family back home. Could not ask for better service! read more

I took my MacBook Pro in this morning because it wasn't holding a charge. Kean in service tested my power cord - didn't work - but even when the store's cord was plugged in, it wasn't taking the charge. The techs would have to take a look, and Kean explained it could take a couple of days. Not good news, but what could I do?! Then...wait for it...I received a call that afternoon from my tech, NOAH, with great news. He was able to reset the system, and all I needed was a new power cord!! Might have been an easy fix for him, but I certainly didn't know how to do it. Thank you so much! read more

Brad B.... Something isnt adding up here. Granted, you got bad customer service at that time. But to say they charged you too much to get your computer fixed is kind of ridiculous. If you DID know anything about computers, you wouldnt have been there in the first place. Now... Best Buy is getting ready to open. I think people are going to be surprised that A) they are NOT always the "best buy". and B) Their tech department is sorely lacking in general skill. They are trained to sell, not fix your computer. But that said, tell your story walking... into someplace else. read more

My wife and I purchased our 1st iMac computer at Connecting Point Computer Centers in Medford. Simon Barnes was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions during my numerous visits prior to purchasing. He answered my emails with even more questions. When I brought my purchase home I had an issue with the Wi-Fi and all it took was a telephone call to Simon. He spent an hour on the phone and even stayed after the store closed to help and get me up and running. Thank you Simon!! You Rock!! read more
