The worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I've been an Apple customer for decades (although never dealt with Connecting Point before) and *never* been spoken to so rudely and argumentatively by an Apple representative. I will never purchase an item from Connecting Point again. Unfortunately for the valley this is the only Apple store around so this area is missing out on the level of superb and knowledgeable customer care Apple ordinarily delivers. I'd rather send my devices in the mail and wait the week for a repair then give my time or business to Connecting Point. These people are a joke to the computer industry. They hire completely unskilled "techs" and attempt to have their lazy employees give them the run-down of computers. They hardly sell anything made within the past 5 years unless it's an overpriced Mac (which you can find cheaper anywhere else... seriously). I would never recommend this store to ANYONE. read more

They are by far the worst computer shop in the valley. About 8 years ago I went to them for a computer repair before I was tech savy enough fix them myself and the tech was extremely rude, unhelpful and never let me fully explain the problem. Not to mention they charged practically an arm and a leg and kept the computer for well over a week just for a hard drive replacement. After I purchased a macbook I took it to connecting point when it was under warranty because it was over heating. I told them what the problem was and expected them to fix it because they are apple authorized and the repair was covered under warranty. They gave it back telling me nothing was wrong with it and then it over heated once again after I started using it. Since they were no help I ended up taking the thing apart myself and redoing the thermal paste on the CPU which fixed the problem. Not sure why connecting point couldn't do that seeing as how they are supposed to be apple certified and this problem was well documented on the internet.. It sounds like the quality of service hasn't changed since then but I sure don't have to depend on them for repairs because I can do it myself and much better. Though I have still gone back to try and buy replacement parts. Most of the time they always carry outdated merchandise and charge top price for it. I saw games on the shelf from 2002 that were $49.99... I had brought someone in here because they wanted to purchase a laptop from connecting point and not a single person in the store bothered to come by and answer our questions. After finding someone who could answer our questions they acted like it was an inconvenience for them to actually do their job. Also if you do buy anything make sure you don't flash your money at the register before they ring the item up if it has no price tag because they will look at how much money you have in your hand and over charge you. I've seen it happen before. To the guy who said my previous review didn't add up because I said they were too expensive... There's nothing ridiculous about saying their price is too high because it's the truth. Also don't get me started on best buy connecting point is almost no different. They try and up sell you on stuff just like geek squad. I called once just to get a price on a laptop hard drive for my macbook. They tried to throw in service charges and labor. After telling them I didn't need them to install it and that I could do it myself they still gave me a ridiculous price. I was able to get a much better deal on newegg. I even probably could of found a better price at any other store in the valley including best buy and cyber center. read more

I don't know what kind of amateurs they hire to service computers but they really need to fix this. I brought my Macbook Pro in to get serviced because the screen wasn't turning on.. When I got it back, I looked into my iPhotos and suddenly I have a stranger couples whole life of pictures in MY ALBUM. I was cool about it, I just thought the techs accidentally loaded the wrong pictures into my computer and vice versa. When I gave them a call, I spoke which Ryan and told him my story. He took zero responsibility for this. His claim is that I logged onto another iCloud account and the reason why all of MY pictures are gone is because I did this. Ryan was completely rude to me and acted like everything was my fault and they never did anything wrong... On top of that, gave me nasty attitude, didn't even want to listen to what I had to say, and didn't offer ANY kind of help. Yep.. I did this! *sarcasm* Okay, first of all, how on earth will I know a complete strangers iCloud account to sign in and access all of their pictures? Second of all, I AM logged onto MY OWN iCloud account yet all of my files are gone and I have another person's personal life on my computer. When I gave my computer to them, I gave them my accounts and passwords so they can do whatever they were going to do and log back onto my accounts. They told me it was going to be like nothing ever happened. Cool.. I put my 100% trust in these people. I told him that it really alarms me that people give them their computers with personal information in it trusting that they will keep it safe. They take in so many computers a day and apparently are not cautious about how they handle other peoples personal information. And his only response to me was.. And I quote word by word, "We did not do anything to your computer. You probably just signed onto another persons account and received their pictures yourself. We didn't do anything on your side but press a couple of buttons." So I ask to speak to a manager hoping to get someone who had an ounce more of respectful customer service and what did he say? "Yeah sure. The manager will be here after 2:00 so call then." and hangs up. I'm not upset because of a possible honest mistake. I honestly just called expecting them to own up and hopefully tell me they can fix it. Instead I got someone who was completely rude to me, didn't take any fault, and literally told me they only pressed a couple of buttons to fix my computer.. Something they can "teach someone to do over the phone." And yet they kept my computer for a couple of days. Bottom line is, don't bring your personal or work computers and laptops here. Who knows where they're going to put your information. For all I know, someone else probably has files of my personal pictures of my family. A creep or potential stalker maybe? Not like they care much anyway. Not their problem! read more

Yeah, I wish I would've read the reviews before I brought my computer to them, twice! These guys are total rip off artist. They don't even turn on your computer to see what's wrong with it the only run a crappy diagnostic system that is wrong. I told him that my mouse pad was not working and that my fan had burnt out when they ran the diagnostic system they gave it back to me and said absolutely nothing was wrong with it, not only once but twice! Don't be fooled by all the shiny stuff they have in the shop. They are way over priced when it comes to anything you need, if you need help they basically want to charge you just to ask a question. I went in with my mac because the battery was swelling and they were wanting to charge me to diagnose after it was clear that I just needed a battery so after arguing what I needed they told me they could replace the battery for $160 so I decided to see where is a better deal. I was able to replace it myself for $20. The service in here has always been terrible and to be honest not the most comfortable place to shop. read more

Purchased some Apple Cinema displays and were told they were unopened in box. Sure enough I get them back to work and both had been opened before. They even had power cables that didn't look brand new in the box. I will never purchase anything from them ever again. This isn't the first time they have lied to me. The guys there are scam artists. They stole my money just to get my computer back they claimed nothing was wrong with. It is a HP pav with swivel screen. They told me, the cords to take it apart were over a foot long and it was so much work it would cost me $70 an HOUR to look at it. I took it over to uppercase and they said if they could not fix it, it was free. They not only took it apart, they found the problem and took pics. The cord that was over a foot long was really 2-3 inches long. They fixed it for me, cleaned it, put new fans in, and tune it for $25. If you want an honest person and great deals go to UPPERCASE. They are way better than these jokers. They get paid to stand there, pretend, to know what they are talking about and act like dorks. Drop the Point and go to UPPERCASE!! read more

I just had a system repaired under warranty, and it was completed efficiently and quickly. Gear on the shelves is generally at list retail, but they have some sales that are worth checking out. I brought my iPhone in for repair at this location. It had an issue where it was not updating, or restoring. It did take me awhile to be helped but the man I spoke to was very knowledgeable on the issue. For free, he did a special setting which returned the phone to factory mode with no software installed. Unfortunately, this did not work, but I brought my phone back in and they repaired it. They estimated it would be 3-5 days, but it was returned to me in only one day. Upon receiving my phone, I found out I had to go to my provider and restore service. The nice employees looked up US Cellular locations, and wrote them down for me. I was very happy with their customer service, and the whole cost was covered in my iPhone warranty. read more

I brought my lap top in because the power point was shorted and a fan wasn't working. I bought the new part off eBay in advance so I wouldn't have to wait for parts to arrive. Alex took my lap top and started working on it. He couldn't get the flux to come off so he took it to friends and family after hours on his own time to try to get it removed. Just in case he couldn't fix it, he ordered a new board. He finally got the flux off but found the board had shorted as well. He got the new part in and quickly put it together. I was impressed at the customer service. I would have expected him to say 'sorry... Can't get the flux off' but to go to his family and friends after hours on his own time was more than I expected and above and beyond. I am not the most adept person at using a computer. However, when I go in to ask a question or get help I usually get Seth. He is amazing!!!!!!!!! I never feel dumb. I too just had my Mac repaired under warranty by Connecting Point. When I dropped it off I was told how they generally got to Apple products the same day they were brought in, and that Apple closely supervised their quality and quickness of work. Parts from Apple generally came in next-day shipping. Seventeen days later, I got my laptop back. In the interim it was handed to me twice as fixed but was not. Now I have just used it for the first extended period since it was repaired and it won't stay connected to the net. I dropped off a critical letter to the manager early on the 17th day and miraculously it was fixed by afternoon. But did the manager come out to talk to me? Nope. They had my letter clipped to the paperwork and tried to give it back to me. Since it was under warranty (bad logic board, great that Apple still covers this on a MacBookPro several years old) I can't ask for my money back. But, where do I take it now? No way am I going back to Connecting Point. read more

My experience with Connecting Point was frustrating. I bought a new computer thru them with the explicit understanding they transfer the data from my old functioning laptop. Three times they blew it and each time created a nightmare for me to solve. They also sold me a program and installed it that was not useful in any way and left it up to me to chase a refund (which didn't happen). read more

I give a single star because Yelp does not provide negative stars or smoking crater flaming stars. Other reviewers have characterized their experiences with Connecting Point Staff as rude, curt, arrogant, and elitist; as though they're doing the customer a favor. I can add mendacity to the list. During my miserable, fifteen-day engagement with their service department, personnel repeatedly misrepresented my computer's repair status, with alacrity. Given the wild variance in reviews here on Yelp, from what I've heard from clients and others, the Customer Service experience is, at best, capricious. It is almost an accident when good service is provided. Connecting Point took fifteen days to perform a hard drive replacement on my iMac. It was an Apple Warranty recall, no diagnostics involved. Simply receive the computer, order the part, replace the part. Fifteen days. I dropped off my iMac on day one, a Wednesday. The following Tuesday (day seven) I called to check on the repair status and was told that they were waiting on the part from Apple. I called a couple more times, the last time, on day twelve, a Monday, and was told the same thing, they were waiting for the part from Apple. Following that call, I wrote an email to Tim Cook, CEO Apple, Inc., expressing my frustration at the situation. I received a telephone call from Apple Corporate Executive Relations the next afternoon, reaching out to see what the problem was and if there was anything they could do to resolve the issue. I gave the representative a quick rundown of the situation and she told me that she would look into it and keep me informed. She called again in less than an hour. Apple had only received an order from Connecting Point for my replacement part that day. Connecting Point held my iMac for thirteen days before ordering the warranty replacement part. During those thirteen days, Service Department personnel repeatedly told me they were waiting on Apple to send the part. I made a point of articulating to The Apple Representative what Connecting Point Service Department personnel had been repeating the entire time; waiting to receive the part from Apple. Connecting Point contacted me two days later, fifteen days after drop off, to inform me that they had finished replacing the hard drive and it was ready for pickup. Once I had my iMac home, I cleaned the abundant greasy finger smears off the screen and the prodigious hot chocolate sneeze splatter off the back of the unit. Wow. It is rather amazing this business has not shuttered their doors. It is a testament to the number of people in the area and P.T. Barnum's adage, "there's a sucker born every minute". Fortunately, Apple Corporate Executive Relations came to my rescue. Once they got involved, I had my iMac repaired and back in my possession in two days. I went into the store and was surprised by their overpriced products. I can get most of the accessories for almost half the price at any other retail location. I used to buy my Apple stuff there and had no complaints. Then, I took a computer in for repair... It was a disaster. the first "tech" accidentally wiped out all the data on the hard drive. Second guy broke something every time he opened the case and had to order new parts. Then decided to ignore diagnosis and replace drive that was still good and ignore sensor that was real problem. Got it back after a month and $250 and it failed again in less than six days. Would have been better off taking it to gas station for repair. Never going back. read more

These people are greedy and idiots! Twice, over the years, I have stupidly took an iMac to them for help. Both times, not only did they not fix the problem, but they claimed it was something entirely different, while claiming they had corrected the problem. They charged me for not fixing it. So, recently, I had a problem with my 8 year old iMac. Again, they were charging me for fixing the problem. When I got home, the problem continued! So, I figured it was time for a new iMac. With credit card, I purchased a new one from Apple. Today, while a friend was backing up the data from my iMac to be installed on the new one, which was due to be delivered the next day. Guess what! She did a few simple moves and FIXED my iMac! Connecting Point is a SERIOUS RIP OFF and the service techs are arrogant in their inexperience and just plain ignorance. I've used this company for many years. However, my last experiences have been disappointing. They were first asked to reverse my own stupid attempt to migrate to Google from Windows Live Mail. They took a shot at this but the result was a mess so I limped along in a barely-functioning WLM until I had a chance to let go the desktop for a new email program. They put me in to Mozilla Thunderbird but two problems lingered. They did not carry my contacts in to Thunderbird and TB also created myriad useless folders - none of this seemed to matter to CC until I hauled the machine in again and then again. Several other glitches ensued and twice TWICE their main man looked at me and said, blandly, "Had to be something you did." These glitches occurred while I was under the direction by phone of one his his techs. I sent Main Man a letter outlining my disappointment and, guess what? No response. I still have several months to go on a yearly $249 subscription for repairs but I won't go back. read more

Good luck getting any service, and if you do get service, they'll likely treat you like an idiot unless you know full on what you are talking about. I'm very computer literate, but since I was asking questions, they started talking down to me and even walked away to go help someone else under the guise of letting me browse on my own. I thought maybe this was just a bad experience, but when I went back again, the same thing. Absolute nightmare. I was told to bring my broken iPhone there for a manufacture warrenty replacment. Spent 2.5 weeks battling back between apple and connecting point about why my phone hasn't shown up yet. Turns out connecting point never sent my phone in to apple, so apple couldnt send a replacment. My phone literally sat at connecting point for 2.5 weeks with nothing to show for it. Why would a employee not take initiative and figure out what the heck is going on. I had to do it all. What was even the point of bringing it there? Apple advised me to pick up my damaged phone from them and they would take care of the entire situation in 3 business days. Awful service. Would NOT recomend this store to anyone read more

When I get good or great service, I'm one of the first to acknowledge it. Sadly, I need to write a negative review. After our oC was hacked, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro from this dealer. After giving us very good service on several different computer products in the past, this time all four salespeople completely missed the ball and created more chaos for me when I was in technology chaos. None of the four sales people (who are evidently knowledgeable about Mac products) told me that I could run my Windows program inside my MacBook Pro. Instead, I was sold cables to connect the Mac to my screen with a toggle switch to interchange between that and my PC No one bothered to ask what kind of monitor I had used so that cable didn't fit. We then tried to solve the problem on a second visit and were sent home with a wrong set up again. It's a very long story and today during my sixth visit to try to get things completely resolved I was amazed at the lack of customer service and lack of customer retention policy after we have spent thousands of dollars here in the past few years. Attentive service and good follow-up. PROS: I'm pretty confused by the bad reviews for Connecting Point. I recently brought in my Macbook Pro for repair (still under AppleCare warranty). The day I dropped it off, service was polite and prompt. He explained the process, gave an approximate timeframe, and mentioned the technicians would call to follow-up. Diagnoses take time so anyone expecting same day service is ... well, no comment. A couple of days later, I received a call with an update as they were narrowing down the problem and boom - received another call a couple days after that saying my laptop was fixed and ready to be picked up! When I picked up the laptop, I received another thorough explanation of the issue PLUS a 90-day warranty on their service. Maybe I'm just happy to get my laptop back, maybe I'm just happy it was covered under Applecare, maybe it's a bit of both, BUT the service was always attentive and comprehensive. CONS: They're the only game in town for MILES in the Rogue Valley so their pricing can be a bit steep. When I first called to inquire about data recovery, their quote was in the $230+ region... wow. Luckily, my issue wasn't hard drive related, but I know I'll be backing up my data every night from now to eternity! read more

This was a frustrating place to use to try to get my PowerBook G4 Mac fixed. This was a new Mac, within 6 weeks of purchase and well under warranty that I kept taking back to Connecting Point but they could not resolve the problem. We were told by Connecting Point that Apple "never ever" replaces new laptops, even if they are defective. The staff was rude and misinformed me. Within weeks Apple had replaced my PowerBook and had even thrown in extra memory. Now I deal directly with Apple or I go to DragonFire Computer Services for non-warranty work. read more

Connecting point is giving themselves steller reviews. I have had the displeasure of dealing with this place because they are an Apple authorized shop. They have inferior service and charge too much. I send my MacBook Pro strait to Apple now. Shame on these guys for faking their reviews . They fake everthing else (except overcharges and bad service) too. read more
