After speaking with Joshua on the phone and seeing their past work via IG I felt satisfied enough that these guys were the real deal. I am extremely thankful to Josh and his crew. They showed up on time and did exactly what they said they would, relieved my stress! I'll never hire a different company for my moves. My sister will be moving in September and she will be hiring Connecticut Moving Labor. These guys worked nonstop, in the heat, no complaints, just all around impressive. Oh and not to mention, we were their second job of the day! I'd have never known if we didnt talk about it over the phone during the scheduling. I can say unequivocally that Joshua (Josh) Banks of Connecticut Moving Labor (CTMovingLabor) is the worst person I have come across in my 31 years living. I contacted Josh in regards to a move I was making and he came over to my apartment to view what needed to be transported, provide some details, and give a quote. Everything sounded sufficient at the time and I decided to hire Josh & Connecticut Moving Labor to help me with my move. Josh told me that a $150 deposit was needed at that time to hold the spot for my Saturday move. After providing a very suspicious and scattered story on why he couldn't accept credit card or PayPal, I reluctantly handed him the cash he requested for the moving deposit. On Saturday, June 16th (the day of my move) Josh texted me at 7:35 AM saying the following: "Hey Kyle, I just woke up to both of my movers calling out on me, is it ok if we start at 10:20-11 instead I've got to find guys last minute. It may actually be quick I'm just using those times to play it safe. I will keep u updated as I find them." That was the last I heard from Josh. He never wrote back and call after call made to him was ignored. The lease on my apartment was up that weekend and Josh knew I had to be out, yet he didn't have the decency in him to tell me he would not be doing the move and completely ignored my calls and texts. I had everything packed and ready to go and not only did Josh not show up, he didn't even properly call to inform me he wouldn't be coming and worst of all strung me along that morning before going completely dark. This is not a professional moving company and josh is not a professional person. Sadly, it's actually much worse than that as Josh is simply a terrible person. I will be reporting Josh and CTMovingLabor to the Better Business Bureau and looking into legal action I can take. Josh is a scam artist that robbed me and he is an overall rotten person. read more

I found Connecticut Moving & Labor here on Yelp, and based on the great reviews, I felt confident getting in touch with Josh and having him and his team help me with unloading a PODS storage unit. I presented them with a bit of a tricky move - a piano that needed to go up a long flight of stairs with not one, not two, but three landings and they were able to do it no problem. Josh brought 3 other guys with him for the move, and each of them were courteous, INCREDIBLY careful with my belongings, and SO FAST I could hardly believe it. We almost had a good experience with Josh and CT Moving Labor...but unfortunately his negative online reviews proved accurate in the end. I overlooked some sketchy business practices (several days to get back to me, communications only over text, and a request to send a $100 deposit to his wife via Western Union) because there were several good reviews of him online and he was nice and accommodating. He also assured me it was no problem to move our upright piano up a flight of stairs to our second story apartment. We were an hour late getting to our new apartment (cross-country move), and he accommodated that as well, although it meant for some reason that our requested team of four was reduced to a team of three. His movers and he were all polite, acted professionally, and managed to unload a very packed truck upstairs successfully. No complaints yet. (Thus the two stars instead of one.) The issue started when, after 45 minutes of trying, he and his team were unable to safely move the piano upstairs. Josh explained that without a fourth man, it was too risky, and asked if it would be OK to return the next day with a team of four. Not seeing much of a choice, we said yes. We made the mistake of paying Josh the full amount owed, in cash, when they left that night, confident that Josh had displayed integrity and good communication skills thus far. Included in the payment was the 45 minutes he and his team struggled and failed to move the piano up the stairs. Josh did not offer a receipt or any kind of itemized invoice upon payment, and in our exhaustion we failed on this front to recognize another shady business practice. In the two days that followed, Josh was in communication with us, still promising to come back but citing labor shortage/high turn-over. After two days, communication from Josh stopped. We texted several times, called, left messages, and pleaded for him at least to respond to let us know if he was unable to move the piano after all. We did not get nasty with him; we gave him chances for days to respond before writing this unhappy review. He not only went back on his word to complete the job we hired him for, leaving us with a 400 pound piano on our new landlady's front porch, but he also refused us the basic human courtesy of communication about his broken word. We are left having to pay hundreds of dollars more for a job he committed to do, out the money for the time he and his team spent trying on the stairs, and without many options in terms of restitution. Ultimately, we are severely disappointed in him and his company and are mad at ourselves for ignoring all the red flags. If he had shown us the respect of simply texting back, saying "sorry, I can't make it work after all," we would not have felt so compelled to share this experience online. I hate writing negative reviews, but this is the only option we have left. I don't think Josh is a bad guy. I think he is a poor leader and lacks integrity, two qualities I would steer clear of if I were looking for a mover. If you decide to work with him because he's cheaper than the competition, I would recommend the following: pay him in check or other traceable method, request an itemized quote AND invoice, don't pay until the job is 100% complete, and have a backup plan in case he bails. read more

Hired them to move a heavy treadmill from a second floor apartment. Called 3 days before I needed the help, and Josh was very accommodating. They were professional, friendly, and very competent. Arrived early to the pick up point, and had the people I was buying from laughing when I got there - beautiful! Quoted a fair price and kept to it after delivery to my house 1 hr away from pick up. If there was ever a moving company that could put all other movers out of business it would be Ct. Moving Labor. I originally called Josh to help my son move from his 3rd floor apartment with an elevator to a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator and was an hour away. When I first told my son about Josh he already had someone who gave him a quote for twice the amount that Josh quoted to me. I encouraged my son to contact Josh especially based on all the positive reviews. To be honest, my son's girlfriend was a bit leery over the fact that Josh charged by the hour and figured that the crew would move slowly. Wow was she ever wrong! Josh, Joe, and Dan moved like someone was chasing them! They had the truck packed up within 2 hours, yet at the same time they were personable, friendly and refused our offer to have a bite to eat and something to drink. They also took care of the furniture as if it were their own. When we arrived at the new apartment these guys moved my son and his girlfriend in just as fast as they did moving them out. The big difference is that it was much hotter, and there was no elevator. The guys were sweating and a little winded from carrying that furniture up to the 3rd floor and this time I insisted they have some water to drink. They were courteous and made sure that the furniture was placed exactly where we wanted it. One little anecdote at the end of the move was when my son's girlfriend came home from work and the guys were outside trying to take a very heavy couch apart to make it easier going up the stairs. My son's girlfriend overheard Josh telling the guys that they had to hurry and if they couldn't get the couch apart they would have to just carry it up as is. He then told them that they were using my son's money! Josh had no idea that she was there. All in all, the move, including travel time took 5 hours. It was worth every penny to have someone as professional, honest, and with such high work ethics as Josh and his team move my son, and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. read more

I don't often write reviews but I felt it was important to let everyone know that these guys are the best. I really mean it. I am disabled and so had no choice but hire movers and being on a tight budget there was no way I could afford to pay the big companies $600 to $900 for a 1 bedroom apt. I found Joshua M. Banks on Craigslist. He agreed to charge me $30 an hour, which is amazing for 2 movers. All I had to do was supply the truck. When they showed up they went right to work, always asking how I wanted things done, they were very polite. Even picked up the truck for me. Because of the distance of the move I had to give the guys a ride back to their vehicle and even though they were crammed into my civic with my dog and their dolly they never once complained. With all the driving the move took 7 hours. These guys were worth far more then I could afford to pay them. Thank You! read more

Most disturbing move ever! Not only did the movers show up later than expected by two hours, they were short a man. They moved like snails. It took them 2 hours to load up what was previously loaded by another company in less than an hour. Mr. banks, company owner, kept asking me and my boyfriend for cigarettes. We had to stop at another location, my 80 year old Mom's house, and it took them almost forty minutes to load a wing chair, a rocking chair, a night stand, and a queen size mattress and box spring. They broke a glass table top before we even left the first location and a glass. They didn't even tell me, I just happened to notice it. At the final location a large mirror was broken. Mr. Banks told me that if I had made a $10 investment in moving blankets this never would have happened...I run a u-haul facility and have hundreds of moving blankets available which I told Mr. banks several times. When I voiced my displeasure with the broken items, Mr. Banks wanted to leave without unloading the truck. I told him to get it unloaded. He proceeded to start unloading the truck, while my boyfriend, myself, and his worker carried things into the house. This job, with all of the same belongings, was previously don in 3 hours by another company (who was unfortunately booked), and nothing was marked or broken. Mr. Banks had no regard for my mother's belongings. Her washer was brand new and now is scratched on the top, front, and sides, same with the dryer. Her antique kitchen table has a huge scratch from on end to the other, and Mr. Banks was more than rude.His behavior was egregious. His helper was lovely and kind, worked hard and was courteous. He over charged us by $350.00, we helped unload so we wouldn't be there until midnight, he spent 15 minutes looking for something in his car, then came and asked me for a lighter. The was the worst move I have ever experienced in 32, yes, 32 moves. This man should be ashamed of himself, he is just out to make a buck. He does not care about your belongings, your time, he just wants your money. I have contacted the better business bureau and Channel 8 News to try and recoup some of the money he robbed us of. The emotional trauma involved in this move COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. IT WAS uncalled for. This has been the worst "business" I have ever encountered. We scheduled a move on June 2 at 10:30am. We gave a $200 deposit. Josh texted that morning asking if they could change to 11:30. We didn't want to, but fine. They lived an hour away so at 10:30 I texted to make sure they were on their way. Josh said YES. 11:30 comes and I expected them to be pulling in, and josh suddenly said they had NOT even left yet, and only had 2 movers ready instead of the 3 we requested and PAID for. He said he was going to only send the 2- meaning they actually HADN'T left yet and they wouldn't even be getting to us until 12:30 at the earliest. We were very upset on the phone with josh because he said they left at 10:30 and now they were going to be almost two hours late. Our uhaul was due back at 3:30 and we did not have time to keep waiting. Josh was so rude to us on the phone. He said we can not have them come and get our deposit back, and we said yes. We could not wait any longer we were already waiting around for him all morning. Our whole apartment was packed up and we ended up doing EVERYTHING OURSELVES. We got completely screwed over. This was the biggest disaster ever all because of this disorganized business and employees. Josh blamed it all on the employees but this is his business and he hired these people. He made it seem like we should have been totally fine with it. Anyway, he said he would send our deposit back. He has been giving us the runaround for a WEEK now lying about when he is sending it back. He says "1-2 hours and I'll send it" and that was two days ago now. He is not sending it and has now ignored me for almost 2 days. We have contacted the BBB, NBC responds, and are taking legal action. I have NEVER dealt with a more unprofessional and unorganized business in my entire life. I would never suggest this company to anyone and I wish I did more research before I hired him. There is information online about how horrible this poor excuse for a business is. I am disgusted and we are so upset. So much of my time and energy has been wasted on Joshua and waiting around for him when he says he will do something then NEVER does. All he does is lie. Do not hire this company they will screw you over. He's going to give excuses here about how people called out and it's not his fault but he hired these people. And then more excuses about his personal life. He is the boss and "in charge" of this "company". He did not handle this situation in a professional way whatsoever. I usually use yelp to find restaurants but I feel compelled to review this experience. I just got done with my move. I hired Josh because he was cheap, and that was my biggest mistake. They showed up 4 hrs late with no call, after refusing to answer their phone all day. I didn't have any other options because it was so late on a Saturday. Finally, they showed up unannounced and from the second they started it was a total disaster. They were the slowest people I've ever seen. One guy texted half the time and then disappeared into my bathroom for 45 minutes while the other guy moved one box at a time. At the end when I did not want to pay for the service, or lack thereof, the head guy literally got in my face and threatened me. He called me several times telling me at first he would be there at 10. Then 10 became 11:30 which then became 2 at the earliest. I just canceled the service and did it myself.
