As someone working in tech, I feel that it's important with the basics of all the tools I use including the devices that I use, and he clearly explains the ins and outs as he does diagnostics of my machine. Opened my laptop today to find that my screen was cracked in the middle :'(. After roughing up my MacBook Air for the last 4 years, I figured this would happen eventually. I called around and one place was closing early and said I could drop it off tomorrow and they would take a day to repair. Then, I spoke with Brian at Computer World who said I could drop it off today and he could repair it within an hour. He also lowered the initial quote that I received from the other place. I stopped by immediately and he said he'd call me back within 30-40 min. Probably like 25 minutes later, he called and said my laptop was ready! The screen was all fixed! Excellent customer service. The first time you wonder if he's lying to you, he probably is. I got lied to a lot. December of 2020, I brought in an HP desktop that we could not "open" but we had lots of old documents and pictures on it that we wanted to retrieve. Brian said "no problem" that we couldn't get into the system, that he could retrieve the information and pictures. I started calling after not hearing anything for a few weeks. I got a lot of excuses, "it's the pandemic; I have no help; let me call you back..." I started documenting the conversations in July 2021-7 months after giving him the computer!! 7-8-2021: Brian said it would cost $475.00 to send it to "a clean room" in Southern California to do the retrieval. I OK'd that and asked him to keep me posted. 10-14-2021: He was "out of country" and would check on it as soon as he gets back, but it was in LA getting the information recovered. 12-9-2021: No, no, I was told that I misunderstood, it was in San Jose getting the data recovered, then it would go to LA, and he would call me with an update by the end of next week. Guess what? He didn't. 3-29-2022 He said to text him the next day, and that he would check on the hard drive. 3-30-2022 I did text him (boy, do I feel stupid for all my effort and misplaced trust) he would need a few more days as he was working on the password. I left messages in May and June 2022, but somehow, he would never pick up the phone when he saw my name. So, Brian I still have the original receipt with all of my notes after we spoke. You know me by name and remembered the type of computer that I left. I will never know what really happened to the computer, but I know that you stole a piece of my family's history that I can never get back. You made me feel like a fool for trusting you while you strung me along. As disappointed as I am, I know that what goes around comes around. I just hope this keeps someone else from trusting you with their memories. read more

Out of no where my laptop started having battery-charging issues so I took it here to see if they could figure out what was wrong. The owner was friendly and said he could check it out no problem and then get back to me if I would like to continue with the repair. I didn't have my wallet going in so he just got my info down and didn't make me go back to my home just to pay him to check it which was nice. I heard back in a few hours about the issue and he repaired it that same day. About a week goes by and my laptop starts acting up again with the same issue. I take it back to him to see whats wrong again. It ended up being a motherboard issue and thankfully he had the parts to replace it entirely. No extra charge! I visited this place to fix my macbook 2010 air i was pretty concerned since its one of the oldest models I thought there arent not that available parts for my computer but the guy here dealt with it so professionally and easily. It only took him a couple of hours to fix my charger port and the battery and now they are working just like brand new! imo, the owner is very rude and unprofessional. I went to fix for a power issue which he fixed just putting some glue instead of replacing the part even though he charged me the full price. Obviously, the part failed within a week and when I went to the shop again, he started blaming me for misuse. I then told him to show the part he replaced and he obviously could not. He started shouting and started saying racist stuff. I have never seen such an arrogant and rude shop owner like him. just avoid it at all cost. Just search for the word "rude" in the reviews. You will see what I am saying. Update: after posting the review, look at the owner how he is bullying by bringing some bogus claims. i am also getting message from a different account with vulgar messages. Look at his attitude to threaten a customer by threatening to do legal action against my protected free speech opinion because a customer posted a bad review. I got a great online deal on a new gaming laptop but the hard drive was much smaller than I needed (for gaming) so I bought a large M.2 SSD. I assumed that I would be able to install it myself but after watching a few YouTube videos (for my laptop) I discovered that it has an inverted motherboard that has to be removed before adding an additional SSD. That involves removing many specialized screws, many tiny and fragile looking ribbon wires, several pieces of tape... One layer at a time and finally twisting the board slightly in order to get past wires that pass through a small hole in the middle of the motherboard. One YouTube reviewer, who had years of experience, ended up doing this twice with his laptop because it didn't boot up after the first try. The idea of taking on this daunting task and getting it right was too much for me so I looked to the local pros at Computer World and they did the job for me. To my surprise they completed the job within one hour and charged me approximately half of what others quoted me through Yelp. Afterwards I talked to the manager and he said that I got lucky reaching him over Yelp. Employees are normally busy working on various jobs (leaving little time to watch for Yelp messages) so the best way to reach him is via the business phone. This is my first time reviewing Computer World but I have used them before and found their techs to be top notch and prices to be very reasonable. The last time I used their service they replaced the battery in my son's iPhone and it was a lot less expensive than I ever expected. In that case they serviced the phone while I waited. It's been awhile but I believe it took less than 10 minutes. read more

Very very bad customer service. Repeatedly you will hear the words 'we are busy'. This happens when you give you laptop for service and try to get it back I gave my laptop to fix my Mac screen which lasted for just month with the so called OEM screen that was installed by this store. when I took it back after it failed after a month, I was told that I dropped the laptop and the screen has an internal crack so warranty won't cover it. For the one month time the new screen was on, I was not even in the country and the laptop was at my home , so there is no way it dropped anywhere. It was a defective screen that was put in the first place that I was not able to convince the store irrespective of all the above logical reasons that I gave and repeatedly told that it was never dropped. Repeatedly heard the words - 'we are busy'. Next, I have to wait for more than a week even to get my laptop back with the screen assembled back, again the reason said-'we are busy' I have paid $400+ for a screen lasted for a month, told warranty will not cover as I dropped the laptop, and waited for more than week to even get it back to me. read more

I took my high-end gaming custom computer pc build in, as I was having constant Blue Screen and HDMI no signal errors that I didn't know how to fix. I ended up figuring it out with Brian that it was a motherboard issue. If I needed to replace it, it would basically be best for me to get a new pc (and that wasn't going to happen). The owner told me to bring my laptop in so that he can take a look (First Warning!: he won't give you an estimated quote over the phone. He asks you to bring it over so he can basically trap you in his store.) He then tells me he will call me in a few days with an assessment. (Second warning!: he never calls you back. You have to reach out to him to hear back from him) Also he still never gave me a estimate on how much all this costs AFTER almost 2 weeks, I get a hold of him and he basically tells me my laptops need complete parts replacement . But I decide to just buy a new computer instead. Overall, my experience with the owner is that he is very cagey and not transparent at all about his prices. If you are looking for a business who values clear communication and honest prices, you should stay away from this place. In the end after about a month later, I'm left with a very expensive paperweight and half fixed laptop. Thank you for wasting my time. Don't go to this place. I went here not too long ago because my laptop was not turning on. I knew there was nothing serious damage with it but he tried to charge me $300 to fix it. He was telling me all these lies such as motherboard needs to be replaced and told me it was water damaged. Today I went to a different place and all I needed was a replacement for the memory which only cost me $35. That's right $35 compared to what he was trying to charge me of $300. Also he unscrewed my laptop and now my battery isn't charging I'm not saying he replaced it with a broken one. But who knows cause my battery was brand new before it started not turning on. And I knocked my eight-year-old Dell laptop off my computer desk and then my coffee mug fell and landed on the screen breaking it and my hope was just to get a new screen so I can get back to work But instead Brian had a better idea - - he replaced the cooling fan that was no longer working and the screen and upgraded the hard drive to this crazy new hard drive while mirroring all of the Data on my computer so everything was the same except he removed all of the junk that was slowing it down at the same time. Now the computer is actually faster than it was when it was brand new it is crazy lightning Fast machine I don't think I'll ever need to buy a new one and he did all of this in one day and for under $500 whereas replacing the computer when something that moves this fast one of cost me two grand - now that's value! read more

I took it to the geeksquad - they told me get a new one it's not worth it. This place is no good. To get anything fixed, you need to pay about $40 for an estimate. I have been waiting for several weeks for that estimate. It is still not coming. I called multiple times over the span of weeks. If you are unlucky to get to the answering machine, you cannot drop a message as it is always full. I was lucky TWICE to talk to the owner who assured me he will call me 10 min later with a wide range of excuses. As you can expect, I didn't get a single phone call back. But seriously, let's assume this place are amazing at fixing computer, how long does it take to give an estimate? It should take a few hours at most. This would imply these folks are unfamiliar with fixing computer hardware. By next year, it will be almost a month. I don't have time nor the patience for waiting for people to learn how to fix stuff, while the owner probably assume I am worth several millions and that my money is free to grab. In the past four years, I have come here twice. The first time was for a MacBook Pro repair. I had brought it used and he told me it would basically stop working soon, so he would buy it off me on the spot. I wanted to go home and discuss it with my parents so I come back the next day. Suddenly, there were many more things wrong with my laptop than there was the day before, and suddenly he was going to pay me a lot less than the amount discussed the day before. After some arguing, we settle because he gives me three 20 dollar gift cards. He said "This is hard cash. Come here whenever for whatever and give me these." The gift cards did not have any prerequisites on them or a price minimum or a device limitation, they just said Computer World on them. I accepted, figuring it would help me out in the future. Four years later, I break my phone screen. After all this time, I couldn't find all three of the gift cards but I heartily took the two I found to Bryan, glad it was finally paying off. He takes my phone, and fixes it in 15 minutes. The screen used was not a genuine apple part (as expected) but has considerably lower quality, and the colors are much duller. Either way, I was prepared to pay full price, along with my gift cards of course. I pull them out, and suddenly the gift cards have conditions. He says he will not accept them, that he only takes them on computers, and that the repair has to be 200 or more. This is written nowhere on the gift card themselves. I remind him of the transaction that happened four years ago, and he recalls it, but still doesn't budge. Finally, he takes one of the 20-dollar cards hesitantly. Now understandably, this is not a huge sum of money. What bothered me was the principle of it all. The gift cards were a clear scam, and I can only wonder how many people have been scammed by this man. I honestly don't know why this place has so many good reviews. Although his work isn't bad, it's cheap and he will scam you out of your money, as many other reviewers have said. Don't fall for his friendliness or charm, the prices are way too high for the service, and you can never be fully sure if he actually wants to help you out or take your money. This place is terrible. My grandmother took a very nice gaming computer to them, and specifically asked them not to tear it apart. They did, and kept it for a year and a half. Picked it up today. Missing parts. Allegedly stole parts. Still didn't put it back together as she asked. I dropped my laptop and completely messed up my LCD display for my 15" 2015 MacBook Pro. It was a Sunday so no stores in the area were open, but Brian quickly responded to my request for a quote. He offered to do it for $400, which was an incredibly low price compared to other shops -- I had some quoting me up to $800 to do the same work. Brian fixed my issue quickly and also fixed up some other issues with the fan and cooling units. Unfortunately the first replacement screen he used had some small issues, but under the 3-year warrantee he provides I plan to switch out the screens soon (which Brian said he would order ASAP as soon as I pointed out the damage).
